Wife Requests Compensation after Mr. Wang Gang Dies from Torture
2011-09-16Mr. Wang Gang was arrested by police on July 22nd, 2002 for practising Falun Gong, and was subjected to several forms of brutal mistreatment during his detention. He was sentenced to ten years of imprisonment in January, 2004, and then taken to Baoding Prison, Hebei Province. Due to the inhuman mistreatment from prison guards, Mr. Wang developed gangrene in his legs, other body tissue and blood vessels. The prison authorities ordered an amputation but prevented his family from being informed. Mr. Wang was transferred to Jidong Prison. Mr. Wang Gang died on October 31st, 2009 at the age of 41. Mr. Wang Gang's wife Ms. Ren Guifang employed a lawyer from Beijing to represent her and submitted a "Claim for State Compensation (Criminal Compensation) Application" to Jidong Prison. However, Jidong Prison made a decision “Not to compensate” Ms. Ren. -
Falun Gong Practitioners Brutally Tortured at Jilin Province Women's Prison
2011-09-16Heizuizi Women's Prison (also known as Jilin Province Women's Prison) in Changchun City uses many brutal torture methods to force practitioners to give up their belief. Ms. Xiang Lijie refused to give up practising Falun Gong. The prison guards tortured her by stretching her limbs out so forcefully that her body was lifted off the bed. As a result her arms were dislocated and she became disabled. Up to today she has not been given any medical treatment and continues to be imprisoned. -
Fushun City Practitioner Ms. Xiao Huiye Sentenced to Forced Labour Twice and Tortured
2011-09-16Ms. Xiao Huiye benefited both physically and mentally from Falun Gong, but the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) has persecuted her many times because she refuses to give up her belief. She served forced labour terms twice. She became extremely weak after being tortured in Masanjia Forced Labour Camp. Doctors said that she could only survive for a few months. -
Jiasmusi Practitioner Wang Shuqin's Own Account of Her Persecution
2011-09-15For refusing to give up her practice of Falun Gong, Ms. Wang Shuqin and her family have been regularly harassed by Chinese Communist Party (CCP) henchmen. In order to expose the lies behind the persecution and give people an opportunity to understand the beauty of Falun Gong and the brutality of the persecution, Ms. Wang often travelled to distribute materials that explained the facts about Falun Gong. As a result, she has been detained and even imprisoned in a forced labour camp. She recounts: "Jiamusi Forced Labour Camp is a living hell. Refusing to give up my belief in Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance, I suffered immensely both physically and psychologically. I felt that I was in pain and being tortured every second." -
Persecution of Yin Sufang, 74, and Tong Huishan, 65, from Chongqing
2011-09-15Falun Gong practitioners Ms. Yin Sufang and Ms. Tong Huishan, two senior women from Chongqing, were arrested by the police for their practice of and exposing the persecution of Falun Gong, and their homes were ransacked. Ms. Tong was forced to flee her home and become homeless. Ms. Yin was injected with unknown drugs at a hospital, against her will. -
Ms. Lin Zejing and Other Practitioners from Huanggang City Taken to Wuhan City Brainwashing Centre
2011-09-15Falun Gong practitioners Ms. Lin Zejing, Mr. Hu Jun, Ms. Xiong Xiulian, Mr. Shen Zhi and Ms. Shen Mingqing were taken to Wuhan Banqiao Brainwashing Centre. Between 5:00 and 6:00 a.m. on August 16th, more than a dozen practitioners were arrested and their homes ransacked in Huanggang City. Mr. Wang Jiansheng was taken to the Wuhan Brainwashing Centre in May 2011 and held there for almost three months. As a result of being persecuted, he had hematemesis and hematochezia, and was very weak. -
Huainan City Government and 610 Office Set Up Brainwashing Centre to Persecute Practitioners
2011-09-15Officials from the Huainan City Politics and Law Committee and the 610 Office (an organisation of special agents just for persecuting Falun Gong) set up a brainwashing centre in the Anhui University of Science and Technology Hotel in August 2011. At least seven practitioners have been persecuted there. Mr. Zhang Jinguo and his wife, Ms. Yuan Sucai, were deceived and taken to the brainwashing centre on August 4th. Later on, another practitioner, Ms. Niu Fengyun was arrested by the police and taken to the brainwashing centre in an ambulance. -
Schoolteacher Ms. Lin Fuhua from Tianjin Is Homeless after Six Years of Imprisonment
2011-09-14Ms. Lin Fuhua was a Middle School teacher in Tianjin. In May 2002 she was sentenced to four years in prison for practising Falun Gong, and was released in May 2006. Her family was afraid of the implications from her arrest and cut off all ties with her. She was sentenced to two years of forced labour in 2009, and was incarcerated in the Beijing Women's Forced Labour Camp and the Hohhot Women's Forced Labour Camp. Ms. Lin is now homeless. -
Innocent Farmer Sentenced in Secret Trial at Jiaozhou Court in Qingdao
2011-09-14On January 16th, 2011, Ms. Wang Guixiang was arrested by the Yanghe Town Police Station officers for distributing Falun Gong DVDs at the Yanghe local market in Jiaozhou. She was subsequently held at the Jiaozhou Detention Centre and later transferred to the Qingdao Dashan Third Detention Centre, where she has been held since. On June 3rd, the Jiaozhou Procuratorate and Court in Qingdao conducted a secret trial to sentence Ms. Wang. The court didn't notify Ms. Wang's lawyer of the trial date, and detention centre staff prohibited the lawyer from visiting her prior to the trial. Since the Chinese Communist Party began to persecute Falun Gong practitioners in 1999, Ms. Wang has been detained six times. In April 2002, she was sentenced to five years in the Shandong Province Women's Prison. -
How Ms. Wang Guiqin, 66, from Zhaoyuan City, Shandong Province Was Persecuted Before Her Death
2011-09-14Ms. Wang Guiqin was persecuted by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) several times because she followed the principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance. On June 20th, she fell off of her motorcycle and hurt herself while being chased by the police. She was unconscious for over ten minutes. Police searched her, but did not find anything of interest. Because the fall was very bad, Ms. Wang Guiqin could not get up for three days and nights. She was very weak, and her hands and feet were numb. However, on August 8th she suddenly collapsed and stopped breathing. -
Ms. Cao Yuzhen, 65, Detained in the Heizuizi Women's Forced Labour Camp in Changchun City
2011-09-14Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Cao Yuzhen, 65, has been detained since June 16th, 2011 because of her practice of Falun Gong. When she was arrested the police took her to the Changchun Women's Detention Centre to stay overnight. Fifteen days later, the legal department of the Dehui Police Department sentenced her to serve a year and a half of forced labour. She is being detained at Heizuizi Women's Labour Camp in Changchun. Ms. Cao Yuzhen demanded to be set free unconditionally, for she knew that practising Falun Gong was her right. Police not only refused to release her, but outrageously demanded that she renounce her faith as the condition of her release. Ms Cao refused on the spot. -
Her Only Daughter Dead as a Result of Torture, Ms. Xiang Huaixiang is Sentenced to Seven Years of Imprisonment
2011-09-13Ms. Xiang Huaixiang was detained by the police on July 19th, 2010, and her home ransacked. She has appeared in court for trial four times between November 5th, 2010 and April 7th, 2011, and was finally sentenced to a seven-year jail term for the of “crime of sabotaging enforcement of the law.” The authorities confiscated 17,000 yuan in cash, a computer, a disc burner, and Falun Gong materials, as well as some personal belongings. In 2000 Ms. Xiang Huaixiang's only daughter, Ms. Chen Lijuan, who was around 20 years old at the time, was detained for doing the Falun Gong exercises at Tiananmen Square in Beijing. Police locked her up at a detention centre. She became mentally disordered as a result of torture and intense stress. She died in November 2004. -
Neighbours Condemn Police Breaking into Practitioner's Home in Yunmeng County, Hubei Province
2011-09-13Police went to Falun Gong practitioner's Mr. Wu Haijin's house on August 22nd. They barricaded the front and back doors and kicked hard on the anti-theft door. They shouted, demanding that someone open the door. They broke two steel pry bars on the anti-theft door, but still could not open it. The area residents condemned the police. While they were trying to kick Mr. Wu's door down, neighbours told them that no one was home. While they were illegally breaking into the house by entering through the window, the children in the crowd said loudly, “Why do the police always break into people's homes whenever they want to?!” -
About 100 Falun Gong Practitioners Still Held in Shijiazhuang Women's Forced Labour Camp
2011-09-13In October 2010, there were about 300 Falun Gong practitioners held in Shijiazhuang Women's Forced Labour Camp. Group 1 was dissolved in May 2011. It was the group where practitioners were severely persecuted in secret. Now, three groups remain in the labour camp: groups 2, 3 and 4. On July 5th, 29 practitioners were transferred from Tangshan Forced Labour Camp and some practitioners were released from April to July 2011. Now about 100 practitioners remain in the labour camp. All practitioners and other inmates in Shijiazhuang Forced Labour Camp are still being forced to do slave labour. -
Gifted Computer Scientist Yao Yuan in Shanghai Sentenced to Eight Years of Imprisonment
2011-09-13Shanghai police arrested Mr. Yao Yuan, a talented computer scientist, in January while he was distributing materials exposing the persecution of Falun Gong. He was detained in the Changning District Detention Centre. It was learned that approximately one month ago, the 610 Office (an organisation of special agents just for persecuting Falun Gong) in the Changning District of Shanghai and the Shanghai People's Court framed Mr. Yao, and sentenced him to eight years of imprisonment. His wife was on bail pending trial with restricted mobility.
