The Persecution of Falun Gong Practitioners in the Puyang Detention Centre

Many forms of torture have been used against practitioners in the detention centre. These include: more than ten hours a day of work, being forced to take off their clothes and be drenched with cold water in the winter, and being forced to kneel down in the snow for very long hours. On winter nights many were forced to stand in the cold wind for the whole night and were not allowed to sleep. Guards beat practitioners with wet leather whips, and they were forced to run in the yard wearing heavy shackles until their feet bled. Practitioners were forced to kneel down in a cell and confess their 'mistakes'. One practitioner persisted in practising the exercises and was forced to wear heavy shackles weighing over 25kg for 7 days. -
State Security Division Personnel Embezzled 30,000 Yuan from Ms. Wang Lanying
2009-05-29Police stormed into Ms. Wu Licui's home on July 31st, 2008. They took away her Falun Gong books as well as other personal property, including a personal bank deposit passbook and 147,900 yuan in cash. In her bank passbook, there was a deposit of 30,000 yuan from practitioner Ms. Wang Lanying. Ms Wang lent the money to Ms. Wu to buy a house. On September 7th, 2008, police arrested Ms. Wang and took her to the Kaijiang County Detention Centre. In order to embezzle the 30,000-yuan bank deposit, State Security Division agents brutally tortured Ms. Wang into falsely confessing that she never lent any money to Ms. Wu. In this way, the State Security Division was able to confiscate the money. -
Mr. Liu Jinglu Exposes Torture at Jixi City Police Station: "I heard electric baton noises next door and then screaming from my wife."
2009-05-28Mr. Liu Jinglu and Ms. Sun Lixiang, husband and wife, are Falun Gong practitioners in Mishan City, Heilongjiang Province. Police from Mishan and Jixi City arrested them, tortured them for a long time and sentenced them. Liu Jinglu heard electric baton noises next door and then screaming from his wife. With both hands cuffed to the chair and feet chained, he tried to stand up and say, 'You cannot treat a woman like this.'" One policeman slapped him in the face. On April 8th, 2008, Sun Lixiang was sent to Harbin Women's Prison. Liu Jinglu is still detained at Jixi First Detention Centre. -
Exposing the Crimes Committed at the Changning Detention Centre in Shanghai
2009-05-28Changning Detention Centre in Shanghai has detained numerous Falun Gong practitioners and continues to cruelly persecute them. They hung up an older female practitioner, Fan Guoping, who is in her 60s, in a solitary confinement room. She was hung up in the air by cuffs on all her limbs for many days. In order to protest the persecution, she went on a hunger strike. In response to this, the police force-fed her with thick rubber feeding tubes. As the tubes were too thick and could not be inserted into her stomach, the guard Wu Libin clasped his hands around her neck and viciously choked her so that she could not breathe. -

Falun Gong Practitioner Mr. Dai Chuanyi Sentenced to Three Years in Prison in Chongren County, Jiangxi Province
2009-05-28Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Dai Chuanyi is 42 years old and works for the Hongrang Development Bureau in Chongren County. Chongren County police broke into his home at 10:00 a.m. on November 11th, 2008. They arrested Dai Chuanyi and his wife as well as another couple who was visiting the Dai household at the time. They took lots of Falun Gong materials and sentenced Dai Chuanyi to three years in prison at the end of March 2009. -
Recent Crimes Committed by Officials in Zhucheng City, Shandong Province
2009-05-27On March 30th-31th, 2009, the Zhucheng City Municipal Committee, along with the Political and Judiciary Committee, the 610 Office, and officers from the Zhucheng City Police Department, arrested over 20 practitioners in their local area. In 2008, over twenty practitioners in Zhucheng City were sentenced to forced labour, and several have been detained. Ms. Liu Xiumei from Shunwang Street was tortured to death at a local detention centre. Ms. Wang Jinxiu from the Dianzi District was forced to jump from a third story window and suffered compound fractures in her legs. -
Young Mother Jailed--Her Son Left Behind
2009-05-27Falun Gong practitioner Pang Liyun lives in Zhangjiakou City, Hebei Province. On August 2nd, 2008, during the Beijing Olympics, she was arrested by police officers. The stated reason for the arrest was "to guarantee the safety of the Beijing Olympics." The police were following orders from their supervisors to arrest all Falun Gong practitioners in order to tightly control them. Eight months have already passed and she has not been released. She has been sentenced to prison and is currently detained in Xuanhua Detention Centre. No one is available to take care of her 8-year-old son. -
Police and Officials in China Commit Criminal Acts
2009-05-27On March 31st, 2009, Mr. Hong Wu and Mr. Wu Yongqing, both Falun Gong practitioners, were distributing leaflets exposing the persecution and telling people the facts about Falun Gong and that Falun Gong teaches people to follow the principles of Truthfulness, Compassion, Tolerance in Xixian Village, Xiqin County. Five drunken people stopped Mr. Hong and Mr. Wu and said: "You practise Falun Gong. You are good people. Please give us some money for drinking. Give us 20 yuan." Mr. Hong and Mr. Wu refused. Then someone called the Communist Party village secretary, and claimed that they had captured practitioners. Huo said: "Beat them. There will be a 500-yuan award for each captured practitioner." Police later shocked Mr. Hong with an electric baton. -
Seventy-three Falun Gong Practitioners Arrested in Mengyin County, Shandong Province
2009-05-27From November 20th, 2008 to March 31st, 2009, police from the Mengyin County, Shandong Province made frequent arrests of Falun Gong practitioners. According to incomplete statistics, at least 73 Falun Gong practitioners were arrested. The police harassed, confiscated property, arrested, and brutally tortured Falun Gong practitioners starting on November 20th, 2008. They also deceived and threatened the practitioners' family members and extorted money from them. -
The Persecution of Mr. Xiong Jinze's Family by Officers from the National Security Bureau of Changsha City, Hunan Province
2009-05-26On March 23rd, 2009, the National Security Bureau of Hunan Province conspired with the 610 Office and the public security bureau to take Ms. Zhou Min, the wife of Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Xiong Jinze, from her home. Two months earlier Mr. Xiong had been arrested and tortured in a forced labour camp, resulting in him becoming disabled. Even when he was not at home, his family was still monitored by the police, causing them to live in fear and anxiety. When Mr. Xiong's daughter was eight months old, she was in a car accident that almost killed her. Her 50-year-old aunt died in the accident. -
China Education Ministry Deprives Practitioners and Their Children the Right to Attend Universities
2009-05-26The 2009 National College Entrance Exam will soon be administered in China, and each level of the Educational Ministry continues to introduce different policies regarding the exam. Among them, in the "Education Ministry Provision of 2009 College Admission," the third section about politics and morality assessment, Article 9, prescribes: "Whoever participates in a cult will fail the assessment (whoever fails the assessment cannot take the College Entrance Exam)." Provincial-level departments have published similar polices, such as, students must go through the political censorship process to apply for army schools, so Falun Gong practitioners and their children cannot pass. In today's China, every level of the educational system still wrongly defames Falun Gong as a cult. -
Mr. Tao Yuan Detained, His Lawyer Beaten and Injured, His Mother Monitored and Harassed
2009-05-26Forty-two-year-old Mr. Tao Yuan and his mother Zhang Shengrong are both Falun Gong practitioners. After the persecution began on July 20th, 1999, they were both severely persecuted. After the persecution started, Tao Yuan was detained and sent to forced labour camps many times. In early 2007, he was arrested at home by police. In September 2007, Tao Yuan's parents received a "notice of imprisonment" from the Guangyuan Prison, and only then did they learn that Tao Yuan had been sentenced to four years of imprisonment by the Wuhou Court. Tao Yuan's mother has not been allowed to see her son since early 2007 when Tao Yuan was arrested. The mother decided to hire a lawyer to seek justice for her son. The lawyer was threatened by police. -
Recalling the Persecution of Ms. Liu Guangfeng
2009-05-26I learned from an Internet report that Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Liu Guangfeng was arrested when she was travelling by train. She was persecuted and killed by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) on April 4th, 2009. In Shayang Forced Labour Camp she and other firm Falun Gong practitioners were subjected to all kinds of torture. They were forced to watch videos defaming Falun Gong. The physical torture included standing and crouching for long periods of time, cruel beatings, shocking with electric batons, and having their faces slapped. Even though they were forced to do heavy labour, the practitioners were not allowed to sleep. -
Changchun Court Forces Practitioner's Defence Lawyer to Break His Contract
2009-05-25In April, the Chinese Communist Party Court and Judiciary Department in the Nanguan District of Changchun City, Jilin Province, notified the family of 54-year-old Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Gao Shuyu of her court date. A year ago she was arrested and has been detained ever since. At the same time, the authorities forced the lawyer that Ms. Gao's family had hired to break his contract with her family. The lawyer told the family that he was under severe pressure and was not allowed to defend those who practise Falun Gong.
