Police in Renqiu City, Hebei Province, Sued for Persecuting Practitioner Mr. Ma Kaihua

Around midnight on August 7th, 2008, police arrived in five police cars at the home of practitioner Mr. Ma Kaihua and surrounded it. They broke into Mr. Ma's home and beat him ruthlessly with nightsticks and batons until he lost consciousness. They didn't stop beating him even after he lost consciousness; they took him downstairs to beat him some more. As a result, Mr. Ma fell into a dead faint, but the police still tightly handcuffed him. Mr. Ma was examined at hospital. He had fractured bones and severe injuries. Mr. Ma is urgently in need of medical care but the police have refused to provide it. Mr. Ma has therefore turned to lawyers and sought a solution via legal means. -
Lawyers for Three Practitioners Turn the Tables in the Courtroom and Announce a List of the Misdeeds Conducted by Law-enforcement Officials in Persecuting Their Clients in Tangshan City, Hebei Province
2009-02-01On January 4th and 5th, 2009, Mr. He Yixing, his wife Zhang Yueqin and their son-in-law Sun Fengli were tried in two trials at the Lubei District Court. Their defence lawyers enumerated the crimes which the public security personnel, prosecutors, and the law-enforcement officials committed in the persecution of He Yixing and his family. The prosecutor and the judge gave no reply during the entire trial procedures. The four defence lawyers sternly and eloquently listed the various crimes that public security personnel, prosecutors and the law-enforcement officials committed. The trial turned into a trial of the Chinese Communist Party, and the judge had to adjourn the trial four times. -
Mr. Jin Dezhu Dies as Result of Persecution in Jilin Province
2009-02-01School teacher Mr. Jin Dezhu, in his 40s, was fired by the principal in 2002 for refusing to give up Falun Gong and the principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance. Under enormous pressure, his wife divorced him. He was detained several times for practising Falun Gong. He was sent for 18 months of forced labour at the Yinmahe Forced Labour Camp in Jiutai City, Jilin Province. Mr. Jin was tortured and spent a long time on the sitting board. After seven months, Mr. Jin became emaciated and developed severe tuberculosis. His life was in danger and he passed out many times. The labour camp had doctors take him back home to avoid responsibility for his condition. Mr. Jin was hospitalized twice, but died on December 31st, 2008. -
Mr. Zhong Kai Dies in the Beiye Prison in the Xinjiang Uighur Autonomous Region
2009-02-01Mr. Zhong Kai, 32, experienced multiple periods of persecution by police for refusing to give up his belief in Falun Gong. In 2007, he was transferred to the Beiye Prison. Mr. Zhong was tortured with sleep derivation and the guards only allowed him to have a half of a bun per meal. He was starved for long periods of time. In November 2008, guards forced Mr. Zhong to go from ward to ward where he was humiliated, criticized, and beaten by the prisoners. On the morning of December 26th, 2008, Mr. Zhong died after falling from the top of the ward building. The ward never issued a statement explaining the cause of his death. Instead, they declared his death. -
Woman Imprisoned for Four Years a Second Time Because She Refuses to Recant Her Belief in Falun Gong in Hebei Province
2009-02-0160-year old countrywoman Lu Shu'e was sentenced to four years in prison for her insistence on practising Falun Gong. She has been held in Hebei Province Women's Jail since January 4th, 2009. This is the second time Ms. Lu has been imprisoned. Ms. Lu and her family appealed the county court's decision to the city court, but the city court upheld the ruling. Ms. Lu protested the persecution with a hunger strike for more than half of a month. She is extremely weak right now and very thin. -
More Information Regarding Mr. Dong Fengshan's Death After Six Days in Siping City Prison, Jilin Province
2009-01-31Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Dong Fengshan was detained in the Shanyou Detention Centre in Songyuan City and secretly sentenced to nine years in prison. The whole process was done without notifying his family. On October 23rd, 2008, he was taken to the Jilin Province Prison in Siping City. Only six days later, on October 29th, 2008, Mr. Dong's wife received a call from Siping Prison telling her that Mr. Dong was dying of an illness. However, when they rushed to the prison, the administration told them that he had already died. The Prison Administration failed to give his family any reasonable explanation. According to new information, Mr .Dong Fengshan was beaten to death by prisoners. -
Qinghai Women's Forced Labour Camp Officials Threaten Family Members After Failing to "Transform" Practitioner
2009-01-31Officials at Qinghai Women's Forced Labour Camp have recently failed in their attempts to "transform" Falun Gong practitioner Li Leye. They have detained Ms. Li since July 2008. They sent two officers to the workplaces of Ms. Li's family members to threaten them. They also demanded the home addresses of her other relatives. After failing to achieve their goals, the two officers threatened, "If you don't tell us, we'll return every day." -
I Was Tortured and Persecuted by Jiamusi City Government Officials
2009-01-31On April 20th, 2002, I was arrested by police officers and sent to Huangpu Detention Centre. Several policemen violently beat me. I was taken out of the detention centre one night and sent to a small, enclosed room, where eight policemen threatened to inject me with medicine and send me to a psychiatric hospital. I didn't cooperate, so four of the officers left the room while another four remained to brutally beat me and threaten me. I became unconscious due to the torture and was taken back to the detention centre early the next morning. I couldn't walk by myself and had to lean on the guards for support. I protested with a hunger strike, and was then tied to a chair, where guards forced a feeding tube down into my lungs. They continued to insert the tube and didn't stop until I lost consciousness. -
Practitioners Mr. Liu Wenyuan and Ms. Zhou Lan from Taiyuan City, Shanxi Province Sentenced
2009-01-31Practitioners Mr. Liu Wenyuan and Ms. Zhou Lan have recently been sentenced by a Chinese Communist Party (CCP) court. On October 14th, 2008, Mr. Liu Wenyuan's home was ransacked by police. He was detained at the Chai Village Detention Centre and his family was not allowed to visit him. Practitioner Ms. Zhou Lan was arrested on July 25th, 2008 when she was distributing Falun Gong leaflets exposing the persecution. -
Older Female Falun Gong Practitioners Cruelly Tortured by Male Guards at Masanjia Forced Labour Camp
2009-01-30I am a Falun Gong practitioner in my sixties. Because I talked to people about the persecution of Falun Gong, I was arrested by police in Shenyang. The following is my personal experience and testimony about how staff at the Masanjia Forced Labour Camp in Liaoning Province are cruelly abusing practitioners and violating the law. One day in March 2006, the Falun Gong practitioners on the second floor of the labour camp opposed their detention by not putting on the prison uniforms. A guard stood up abruptly and cursed at me. He shouted, "I will torture you to death!" He dragged me to the door and stomped on me. Because I was still standing, he kicked me to the ground. Then he kicked my ribs many times, which caused me to gasp for air and every move became painful. I was tortured on many occasions thereafter. -
Mr. Sun Kaiching on Hunger Strike to Resist Persecution at Changlinzi Forced Labour Camp
2009-01-30Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Sun Kaiching and others, detained at Changlinzi Forced Labour Camp in Harbin, have been on a hunger strike for over a week in order to protest the inhuman treatment they receive in the camp. This is the fourth time that Mr. Sun has been imprisoned and abused at Changlinzi Forced Labour Camp. The police abuse Falun Gong practitioners in various ways including pushing them, breaking their limbs, subjecting them to freezing cold temperatures, placing them in a solitary cell, and other cruel methods. -
Mr. Yuan Rong and Mr. Chen Kaiming Persecuted in Wangling Prison, Hunan Province
2009-01-30Guards in the Sixth Ward of Wangling Prison in You County, Hunan Province, used torture in attempts to "transform" imprisoned practitioners. On September 27th, 2008, Mr. Yuan Rong, to protest how he was being abused, refused to squat (forced squatting for extended periods is a common torture). Zhou Weihe, political instructor from the Sixth Ward, fiercely kicked Mr. Yuan in the legs and the abdomen while others watched. Afterward, Zhou ordered four guards to hold Mr. Yuan down on the ground and handcuff him to a tree. An hour later they released him and then handcuffed him in an office. -
Ms. Li Xiuying from Changchun City and Mr. Zuo Chungang from Henan Province Disappeared Years Ago
2009-01-30Mr. Zuo Chungang is a Falun Gong practitioner, about 40 years old. He was a resident of Zuoqiao Village, Jishui Town, Dancheng County, Henan Province. In 2004, he accepted a job in Dalian City, Liaoning Province. Police from Dalian City arrested him, according to fellow villagers. No one knows his whereabouts. His wife divorced him while he was missing. His family is extremely worried about him. -
Physical Education Teacher Mr. Jin Youfeng Dies after Five Years of Imprisonment
2009-01-29Mr. Jin Youfeng was sentenced to 13 years of imprisonment and locked away in the Mudanjiang City Prison. His wife, Ms. Jiang, was imprisoned in the Harbin City Women's Prison. In 2004, Mr. Jin was tortured in the training ward of the prison He was locked in a Small Cell, forced to wear shackles and a "Hand-Stick" Cuff, and was force-fed. The guards inserted thick force-feeding tubes roughly, intentionally causing pain, and they force-fed large amounts of raw cornmeal and hot chilli pepper powder that would overflow and cause the practitioners to choke. On June 6th, 2008, when he was dying, he was released. He died on January 21st, 2009, in the Mudanjiang City Contagious Diseases Hospital. -
The Brutal Persecution of Mr. Li Wenbo in Yunnan Province Second Forced Labour Camp
2009-01-29Mr. Li Wenbo, 43, was detained in February 2005 for promoting Falun Gong and exposing the persecution. He was sentenced to three years of forced labour and taken to the Yunnan Province Second Forced Labour Camp on February 6th, 2005. He suffered severely from the abuse inflicted upon him by the guards and inmates. As a result, he lost his eyesight, six of his front teeth were knocked out, and his left leg had at nine-inch-long scar.
