Two Older Practitioners Die as a Result of Long-Term Persecution
2009-01-21Ms. Zhang Yuhua, 58, went to the countryside to distribute leaflets exposing the persecution of Falun Gong, and was arrested and taken to a detention centre and had her sentenced to three years of forced labour after she was detained there for more than four months. Ms. Zhang entered Heizuizi Forced Labour Camp in August 2003. She had a stroke and developed cortical cerebellar atrophy due to being brutally mistreated. Her family picked her up, but the local police still required her to write a monthly report to the labour camp. She died on January 5th, 2009. -
Further Details Regarding Death of Ms. Gu Jianmin at Shanghai Pudong Detention Centre
2009-01-21It has been over 9 months since the death of practitioner Ms. Gu Jianmin. In March 2008, Ms. Gu Jianmin, over fifty years of age, was arrested and imprisoned at the Pudong Detention Centre for distributing leaflets exposing the persecution of Falun Gong. Ms. Gu went on a hunger strike to protest her persecution. She was then force-fed by the guards. Guards delayed rescuing Ms. Gu and lied to her husband about her condition. They deliberately slowed everything down so that she was already senseless and dying upon meeting her husband. However, the fact that blood was dripping out of her mouth continuously before her death exposed the crime they had committed. -
Mr. Lan Bing Nearly Blind in Both Eyes Due to Abuse
2009-01-21Mr. Lan Bing, 40, was sentenced to ten years of imprisonment in 2001. Since then he has been detained in the Tilanqiao Prison in Shanghai. Due to the abuse he suffered, his eyes frequently bled. He is presently nearly blind in both eyes. Recently, Mr. Lan's condition has become very serious, but the Sixth Ward is still deceiving his family. When his family members talked to Wang Haocheng, chief of the Sixth Ward, he responded that it was not a big deal. When they talked to Fan Zhenqun, director of the Sixth Ward, they were told, "Lan Bing's condition is stable and has not worsened." In the meantime, Fan Zhenquan reported the same thing to the authorities at the prison. -
Practitioners Made to Perform Slave Labour at the Cotton Division of Masanjia Women's Forced Labour Camp
2009-01-21The hygiene conditions at the Cotton Division of the Masanjia Women's Forced Labour Camp are extremely poor. The detainees are forced to do heavy slave labour from 6:30 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. every day. Currently, more than ten practitioners and several dozen criminal inmates are doing heavy slave labour there. They are often beaten and scolded by Tang Wei, a drug addict who was appointed as supervisor by the camp manager. On November 12th, Lu Meijun was kicked and beaten by Zhao Guorong, team head of Division One. Zhao also shocked Lu with electric batons. As a result, Lu was wounded in many places and had many bruises on her face. -
Former Director of the Mohe County Board of Education on Long-Term Hunger Strike in Harbin City Prison
2009-01-20In 2002, a judge from the Jiagedaqi District court sentenced Ms. Li Yushu, a Falun Gong practitioner, to a 12-year prison term. She is detained in Area 10, used for ill people, at the Heilongjiang Provincial Women's Prison in Harbin City. To protest the persecution, Ms. Li has gone on a number of hunger strikes since 2004. She is now very weak and emaciated. In December 2007, prisoners were assigned to monitor Ms. Li Yushu. Despite her being on hunger strike, police ordered them to beat and insult her daily. Cai Lin, who weighed more than 85 kg, sat on top of Ms. Li. Once, Ms. Li shouted: "They are killing me!" Police officers came and said: "Who killed you? Aren't you still alive? You are not the only one who has been through this." -
Rujiang Men's Forced Labour Camp Uses Convicted Drug Abusers As Personal Monitors To Harass Practitioners
2009-01-20In the camp, during the day, guards force the practitioner to read material which defames Falun Gong, or to recite the camp's regulations, etc. In evening, the guards force the practitioner to talk to them, or to write words that attack Falun Gong. If the practitioner refuses, the guards deprive him of sleep until 3 a.m. or 4 a.m even though the practitioner is required to get up at 6 a.m. If the practitioner does not give up his beliefs, the guards punish him by forcing him to stand facing a wall, depriving him of sleep, etc. If the practitioner does not give up even after 1 to 2 months of such torture, the guards deprive him of further rights and continue to have the personal monitors monitor him 24 hours a day. The practitioner is not allowed to speak with other practitioners, or shop downstairs, or visit other cells, or leave his cell. -
Painter Mr. Wang Mingyue and Photographer Mr. Jin Xiaohui from Beijing Sent to Forced Labour Camp
2009-01-20On July 8th and 9th, 2008, two practitioners from Beijing were arrested; one is a famous oil painter, Mr. Wang Mingyue, and the other is a photographer, Mr. Jin Xiaohui. They are now imprisoned in the Tuanhe Forced Labour Camp in Beijing. Mr. Wang was in very good physical condition before his arrest, but now, according to a witness from the labour camp, he has lost a great deal of weight. This is yet another case of the Chinese Communist Party's (CCP) persecution of Falun Gong practitioners under the excuse of "safeguarding the Olympic Games." -
Mother's Pain
2009-01-20In 1994 I was so fortunate to start practising Falun Gong. I looked like a new person: the diseases were all gone. After July 1999, when the persecution started, my siblings and I were all persecuted. My mother was devastated. After the onset of the persecution, I was ordered to a brainwashing centre every day. One day as I returned to my work place after the brainwashing session, my supervisor did not allow me to go home and tried to force me to write a guarantee statement to quit cultivation and a "regret statement" to slander Falun Gong. My mother passed away because she was scared to death. My heart hurts because of sadness and pain. -
Two Brothers Sentenced to Forced Labour--Their Elderly Parents Call for Help
2009-01-19Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Qiao Baoming is 42 years old. On August 27th, 2008, he was arrested at work by agents from the Binzhou City 610 Office. His home was searched and he was sentenced to two years of forced labour. Practitioner Qiao Baoyang (Qiao Baoming's brother) was arrested in May 2008 and also sentenced to forced labour. Both are now in the Shandong Province No. 2 Forced Labour Camp. Their 76-year-old father is sick at home. -
Police Covertly Cremated the Remains of Mr. Qian Shiguang, Who Had Been Severely Injured
2009-01-19Mr. Qian Shiguang, 65, died as a result of torture on September 8th, 2008, in the Gongjiawan Brainwashing Centre. According to witnesses, Mr. Qian appeared to have been severely traumatized. His face was bruised, his eyes bulged, and both of his hands were dark. Afraid of having their brutality exposed, the police dared not use a crematorium, and cremated the body secretly. Before his death Mr. Qian wrote about some of the abuse and brutal mistreatment he experienced on small slips of paper, under extremely difficult circumstances. -
Engineer Arrested before Olympic Games; Family Files Suit Against Persecutors
2009-01-19Mr. Yang Jianzhong, 70, was awarded the title of "outstanding cost engineer". On August 7th, 2008, just before the Olympic Games, he was arrested by local police officers and Chinese Communist Party (CCP) agents, and his home was searched. More than 90,000 yuan in cash was seized from his home and he was detained at the Wenjiang District Detention Centre. Fifteen days later, he was transferred to the notorious Xinjin Brainwashing Centre. Several days ago, he was taken to a hospital in Wuhou District of Chengdu City. Jia Xiaodong. -
Ms. Wu Yinfeng Constantly Persecuted by Chinese Communist Party (CCP) Officials in Gansu Province
2009-01-19Thirty-seven-year-old farmer Ms. Wu Yinfeng has been constantly persecuted by the local Chinese Communist Party (CCP) organizations and the police in recent years because she practises Falun Gong. On June 2nd, Ms. Wu Yinfeng was sentenced to three years of forced labour and was detained at the Liugouhe Women's Forced Labour Camp in Lanzhou City. The prison guard Dai Wenqin and Division Leader Fan Yirong gave Ms. Wu injections, infusions and unknown drugs. Ms. Wu had terrible cramping afterwards and curled up in pain. She lost consciousness twice and was extremely weak. The forced labour camp only released her when she was critically ill, on June 5th. -
Jiang Yong Tortured with Six Electric Batons at Shanghai'sTilanqiao Prison
2009-01-18Mr. Jiang Yong from Shanghai City, while detained at the Tilanqiao Prison, was recently tortured by six guards, each using an electric baton. The beatings burned large areas of his skin, causing much bleeding. At one point, Fan Zhenqun, the deputy captain of the sixth ward even said, "Electric shock therapy is better than medical therapy." One of the prison guards, Xu Meng electric shocked and beat Mr. Jiang while asking others to measure Mr. Jiang's blood pressure, fearing that he might die of the torture. Mr. Jiang became unconscious at times, but whenever he revived, Xu Meng continued to shock and beat him. -
Crimes Committed by the Deyang City Brainwashing Centre in Sichuan Province
2009-01-18In the centre, two personal monitors are assigned to each practitioner around the clock. They report to the centre authorities every word and action the practitioner says or takes. The centre brainwashes these personal monitors as soon as they enter the centre and teaches them how to maintain a close relationship with the practitioners, and how to find out the sources of Falun Gong materials. They also learn how to determine practitioners' weaknesses so that they can be reported. The personal monitors listen to the practitioners, first observing their behaviour to find out who is more steadfast and knows more. They even claim, "We understand that after practising for so long, it is difficult to stop right away. That's why we allow you to practise a little. However, gradually you will stop practising." -
Tianjin Police Torture Ms. Shao Kunhua to Mental Disorder, Then Extort Money from Her Family
2009-01-18Ms. Shao Kunhua, a Falun Gong practitioner, was arrested in 2001 when she went to Beijing to appeal. She lost consciousness after the police from Tianjin force-fed her with unknown drugs. She woke up experiencing a mental disorder, and her family members were extorted out of more than 10,000 yuan. A year later, Shao Kunhua slowly recovered from the torture and regained her health by reading Falun Gong books and doing the exercises.
