  • Falun Gong Practitioners Mistreated Prior to and After Olympics in Shandong Province

    Before the Olympics, Chinese Communist Party (CCP) officers arrested many practitioners. In attempts to force practitioners to give up their faith, criminal prisoners were recruited by guards from the Seventh Division to torture them. The practitioners who have steadfast faith are forced to stand or sit on a small bench for long periods of time, which causes severe bruising of the hips. While sitting, they are forced to listen to propaganda that slanders Falun Gong. They are also cursed at and beaten. In the Seventh Division, a toilet is used as a small cell specifically to torture Falun Gong practitioners. Inside the small room, the light is dim and the air is stale. Practitioner Mr. Xue Quanlin was locked in a small cell for nearly two weeks because he did not give up his faith and refused to be "transformed."
  • Taian Prison Authorities Prevent Lawyers from Meeting with Zhou Ning

    Falun Gong practitioner Zhou Ning was sentenced to five years of imprisonment. After appealing, the higher court upheld the original sentence, and on November 12th, 2008, he was locked up in the Taian Prison in Shandong Province. On December 9th, two lawyers went to the prison to find out whether Zhou Ning was willing to appeal. Prison officials refused to allow the lawyers to meet with Zhou and even made Zhou write a statement saying that he didn't want to appeal. .
  • Ms. Li Guangmei From Guangdong Province And Mr. Jia Tiancai From Henan Province Died as a Result of Persecution

    Between 2000 and 2003, Ms. Li Guangmei, from Guangdong Province, was taken to a brainwashing centre twice. Since she persisted in her belief steadfastly, she was threatened many times. In the brainwashing centre, her freedom was restricted. Even when she went to the toilet or took a shower, she was monitored. The Chinese Communist Party (CCP) agents took turns trying to brainwash her and force her to give up Falun Gong. She was deprived of sleep for several days and nights in a row. Her family members were prohibited from seeing her. The agents also insulted and beat her. Severely devastated both mentally and physically, she died in November 2003, at the age of 37.
  • Several Falun Gong Practitioners at Risk of Dying in Daqing City Prison

    Recently, several Falun Gong practitioners were detained and are being held at the Daqing City Prison for extended periods of time. They are showing symptoms of serious, life-threatening illnesses. Mr. Wang Jiang, 47, from Harbin City, was held in Group No. 3. He has recently been transferred to the hospital due his deteriorating condition. Although the prison authorities do not treat the Falun Gong practitioners with violent means publicly like they did before, they are now using different tactics to cover up the persecution, such as not letting family members visit practitioners or they block information about the practitioners. Prison authorities in general are ignoring practitioners' condition as mentioned above, until they are actually dying.
  • Shandong Province Women's Forced Labour Camp Brutally Persecutes Falun Gong Practitioners

    If a practitioner refuses to give up his belief in Falun Gong, he is not allowed to use the toilet, brush his teeth, wash, sleep, or even talk. Ms. Li Xiumei is currently imprisoned at this Shandong forced labour camp. One day the guards shackled Ms. Li's arms to a prison cell window for seven days and nights, with her feet barely touching the ground. Suddenly the shackles became loose and sprung open. Ms. Li immediately collapsed on the floor from pain, hunger, and exhaustion. When the guards saw her lying there, they rushed over and started beating her. Fearing that their actions would be leaked to the outside during the Olympic Games, they secretly transferred her to another forced labour camp on September 20th, 2008.
  • Practitioner Ms. Liu Qingying from Kaifeng City Sentenced to Forced Labour

    On October 13th, 2008, police arrested Ms. Liu Qingying, in her 60s. On October 30th, agents of the Chinese Communist regime sentenced Ms. Liu to two years of forced labour in Shibalihe Women's Forced Labour Camp without notifying her family. The authorities at the forced labour camp are severely pressuring Ms. Liu to be "reformed". She is locked in a small cell from morning till 10:00 p.m. every day. The guards threaten her, saying that if she refuses to give up her belief, they will send her to Xinxiang where she will be subjected to more severe persecution.
  • Ms. Gong Hui Brutally Tortured at Banqiao Forced Labour Camp in Tianjin; Her Family Scolds Guards

    During the Beijing Olympics in August, Ms. Gong Hui was arrested by the local police. She was taken to the Banqiao Forced Labour Camp, where she has been held in complete isolation for an extended period of time. She has been deprived of all her basic rights and kept isolated from the outside world. The guards have instigated inmates to viciously beat and curse her. Ms. Gong has been held in a small cell, ordered to stand for extended hours, deprived of sleep, and given insufficient meals. The purpose of the torture is to coerce her to give up practising Falun Gong. On November 25th, her family vehemently condemned labour camp guards for their brutality.
  • Beijing Practitioners Brutally Tortured at Masanjia Forced Labour Camp

    On July 14th, 2008, in preparation for possible foreign media visits, the Chinese Communist officials in Beijing transferred about 50 practitioners who were steadfast in their belief in Falun Gong to the Masanjia Women's Forced Labour Camp in Shenyang City, Liaoning Province. The guards in the Masanjia Forced Labour Camp brutally tortured these practitioners. They handcuffed practitioners and then lifted them off the floor; tied up their limbs and stretched them across a bed; or applied electricity to their armpits, groin area, or heads and other sensitive body parts. Some practitioners were handcuffed and lifted up around the clock for days.
  • Ms. Yin Qiuyang and Ms. Yin Lanying from Hunan Province Sentenced to Three Years' Imprisonment

    Ms. Yin Qiuyang and Ms. Yin Lanying from Huaihua City, Hunan Province were sentenced by the Hecheng District to three years' imprisonment. It is the third time that Ms. Yin Qiuyang has been arrested and persecuted by the Chinese Communist Party. Ms. Yin Lanying has been detained at least five times.
  • A Mother's Lament

    My son, a Falun Gong Practitioner, has been thrown into jail, and whether he is dead or alive is unknown. I feel anxious every day and I frequently have nightmares. I am already in my seventies. My son has been imprisoned three times. On this last awful day, the whole family was working in the fields. I witnessed with my own eyes how a gang of policemen pounced on my son and handcuffed him while forcing him into a police car. At the same time two men held me back as I struggled, and kept me from resisting their unlawful arrest of my son. I fell to the ground as my heart was broken. I could only watch helplessly as the police car drove away with my child!
  • Details of How Mr. Zhang Litian Was Beaten to Death in Jinzhou City Prison

    Mr. Zhang Litian, 36, was beaten to death on November 17th by two wardens and two prisoners, only one month after being detained in Jinzhou City Prison. At 3:00 p.m., people saw prisoners push his body into the prison clinic on the meal cart. The doctor said, "He's already dead, why bother sending him to me now?" The entire body of 163 prisoners in the 20th Ward know Mr. Zhang Litian was beaten to death, but the prison is still trying to hide the facts. Mr. Zhang's family fears that a local autopsy may produce false results.
  • Beijing Lawyers Ask Heilongjiang Provincial Intermediate Court to Acquit Practitioners

    Recently, two lawyers were invited to see the judge of the Heilongjiang Province Nongken Intermediate Court. They requested an open court session for the second trial of five Falun Gong practitioners. On November 13th, 2008, the two lawyers had a meeting with two officials from the intermediate court, who pressured them not to represent Falun Gong practitioners. The lawyers refused. Afterwards, the court officials suggested that the Falun Gong practitioners be sentenced to forced labour camp terms without an open court trial. Under the Chinese Communist Party's rule, judges don't have the right to impartially judge a case.
  • Mr. Zhu Zhilin Injured by Inmates in Xishanping Forced Labour Camp in Chongqing City

    Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Zhu Zhilin, 45, was sentenced to one year of forced labour in January 2008. Recently, he was beaten by inmates at Xishanping Forced Labour Camp and hospitalized. His injuries were so bad that he could not eat any food and could only drink milk. Mr. Zhu was severely injured for no reason, and the inmates who beat him did not receive any sort of punishment. The guards intentionally avoided their responsibilities.
  • Ms. Yang Shuyu Arrested in Dalian City

    On November 20th, 2008, Ms. Yang Shuyu was reported to the police while distributing leaflets exposing the persecution and telling people the facts about Falun Gong and that Falun Gong teaches people to follow the principles of Truthfulness, Compassion, Tolerance near the Yaojia Detention Centre. She was arrested and brutally beaten by officers from the Nanguanling Station and is being detained at the Yaojia Detention Centre.
  • Mr. Chen Min Dies as Direct Result of Persecution in Hunan Province

    Mr. Chen Min, 45, was a doctor who was among the first batch of practitioners persecuted in Zhuzhou City after the persecution began in July 1999. In the past nine years of persecution, he was detained four times and sentenced to one year of forced labour in 2002, at the Xinkaipu Labour Camp. He was arrested again in September 2002. This time he was sentenced to five years in prison. Five years of this long term imprisonment and torture severely damaged Mr. Chen's mental and physical health. He was emaciated, vomiting blood, and passed blood in his faeces. He could not eat after being released to his home in September 2007, and could not care for himself. He died in June 2008.
