Exposing Crimes Committed by Guards at Hulan Prison in Heilongjiang Province
2008-03-08On January 21st, 2008, Falun Gong practitioner Liu Zhimin, detained at Hulan Prison, was beaten up by political instructor Lu Mingdong. Lu said while beating Mr. Liu, "I will be responsible if you suffer a concussion." Liu Zhimin still lies in bed, his face swollen and his teeth loose. One of the many tortures meted out on practitioners includes: "chain sitting", where one's chest is bound tightly to the back of the person in front. The eyes have to focus on the front persons' head, and the legs have to be spread apart. They have to sit like this for 14 to 15 hours every day. Practitioners' eyes must be open, otherwise they would be beaten. -
Supplemental Information Regarding the Persecution-Caused Death of Ms. Li Wenxia in the Tanggu District, Tianjin City
2008-03-08Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Li Wenxia was arrested in 2000 and taken to the Tanggu Detention Centre. She was incarcerated for nine months and was near death at her release. She was barely breathing and looked skeletal. She could not see clearly, and her hearing was bad. She also had difficulty speaking. Communist regime agents still continually harassed and threatened her. Li Wenxia thus lived in great fear and could not recover properly. She finally died in December 2006. -
Arrested Three Times and Imprisoned for Five Years in Masanjia Labour Camp: 58-Year-Old Shi Yingchun from Liaoning Province
2008-03-07Ms. Shi Yingchun, 58, is from Huludao City, Liaoning Province. In the years of persecution of Falun Gong, Shi Yingchun has been arrested three times for practising the Falun Gong exercises in a a park and has been imprisoned and tortured for five years in total. In Masanjia Forced Labour Camp she was often beaten by guards. Compared to the physical torture, the mental torment was more cruel. Under the pressure and lies of warden Qiu Ping, Shi Yingchun was "transformed" and wrote a guarantee of "not practising any more". After that, she felt sad and depressed and often cried for no reason. Then she was sent to a mental hospital forcefully and prescribed some medication for mental disorders. She was forced to take the medication and so-called "punctuation" treatment in the forced labour camp. She felt awful after taking the medication and the treatment once, so they had to stop. -
Shanghai Court Sentences Practitioner Zhou Lixun to Three Years of Confinement
2008-03-07On January 15th, 2008, the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) court in the Hongkou District of Shanghai City, carried out instructions from the 610 Office, acting in accordance with prearranged procedure, to sentence seriously ill Falun Gong practitioner Zhou Lixun to three years in prison. The sentence will be served outside of prison, because of her poor health, to three years in prison. The sentence will be served outside of prison because of her poor health. When she was arrested on the street for distributing leaflets exposing the persecution one passerby said: "Why do people who practise Falun Gong have to suffer this type of mistreatment?" -
Mr. Li Zhonghua from Xichang City, Sichuan Province Arrested and Tortured
2008-03-07On May 9th, 2007, Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Li Zhonghua and two other practitioners from Xichang City, Sichuan Province, went to a fellow practitioner's home to install a satellite receiver. Personnel from the National Security Team of Xichang City arrested them. Mr. Li Zhonghua was sentenced to one year and three months of forced labour. He is currently detained and subjected to torture at the Mapingba Drug Rehabilitation Centre in Xichang City. The detainees there often extort money from him, and beat and verbally abuse him. -
The Persecution and Torture Suffered by Ms. Zhao Tianxiu from Weifang City, Shandong Province
2008-03-07On August 15th, 2006, practitioner Ms. Zhao Tianxiu was arrested at home and taken to the Weifang Detention Centre. She was then sentenced to one and a half years of forced labour. During that time, she endured inhuman tortures. Thugs beat her up. Zhao Tianxiu fainted many times from the inhuman tortures she was subjected to. After the doctor discovered her heart rate to be faster than usual and her blood pressure high, the guards stopped beating her, but they would watch her day and night, to prevent her from sleeping. She was finally released in January 2008. -
Police Torture Ms. Chi Yan Even After Prior Abuse Left Her Critically Ill
2008-03-06Ms. Chi Yan was a very healthy person before she was persecuted. However, under Chinese Communist Party rule, she was subjected to such brutal treatment mentally, physically, and financially such as being beaten with electric batons and forced labour that she developed an incurable illness. The labour camp guards intentionally delayed her treatment and now her health has deteriorated. -
50-Year-Old Practitioner Ms. Ma Xia Subjected to Prolonged Persecution in Zhengzhou City
2008-03-06Along with her child, Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Ma Xia has been arrested five times by members of the the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) since the persecution of Falun Gong began on July 20th, 1999. The first four times, she was imprisoned and had to leave her son to her parents. However, due to the immense psychological pressure, both grandparents passed away. Now, Ms. Ma has been subjected to prolonged persecution by the CCP along with her son. -
Falun Gong Practitioners on Hunger Strike Subjected to "Dead Man's Bed" Torture in Masanjia Forced Labour Camp
2008-03-06On February 21st, 2008, the director of the No. 1 men's division of the Masanjia Forced Labour Camp obtained "dead man's beds" and forced all "personal cangues" [Note: "cangues" are detainees assigned to implement close surveillance on practitioners] to use them on Falun Gong practitioners who went on hunger strikes. According to eyewitnesses, four practitioners were viciously beaten by prison inmates. Practitioner Zhen Haitao and Chen Yan were tied to the "dead man's bed." Their limbs were stretched out in four different directions. An object was inserted in their mouths so that they could not close their mouths or speak. They were force fed, their lives are in danger. -
Ms. Zhang Zhongrong and Ms. Zhang Fan Taken to Brainwashing Centre in Chongqing City
2008-03-06Forty-five-year-old Ms. Zhang Fan and seventy-year-old Ms. Zhang Zhongrong are Falun Dafa practitioners from Nan'an District, Chongqing Municipality. On January 13th, 2008, the eve of the Chongqing Municipality's Chinese Communist Party's (CCP) conferences, police officers searched practitioners' homes, and then arrested and imprisoned them at the Wangxiangtai Brainwashing Centre in Gezigou, Chongqing Municipality. The police lied to the practitioners' families, telling them that the practitioners were taken to the local Tongyuanju Police Station. -
Ms. Chen Yao Dying in Zhejiang Province Women's Prison
2008-03-05In October 2002, the Wuyuancheng District Court in Jinhua City, Zhejiang Province, sentenced Ms. Chen Yao, 31, to a three-and-a-half-year prison term, to be served at the Zhejiang Province Women's Prison in Hangzhou City. To protest the inhuman forced brainwashing she was subjected to in prison, Ms. Chen began a hunger strike on January 8th, 2008. Almost two months have passed. Ms. Chen Yao is extremely weak and near death. -
Yang Baochun Lost His Right Leg as a Result of Torture and Has Been Held in a Psychiatric Hospital Repeatedly
2008-03-05On February 17th, 2008, Mr. Yang Baochun's wife went to see her husband, who was imprisoned in Yongkang Psychiatric Hospital in Handan City, Hebei Province. He lost his right leg as a result of being tortured in Handan City Forced Labour Camp. While his wife was visiting, Mr. Yang escaped from the psychiatric hospital, where he had been imprisoned for over five years. His wife was then detained for an hour before she was released. That night, Mr. Yang was arrested at his home and taken back to the psychiatric hospital. His family has asked the authorities over and over again how it is possible that Mr. Yang could be imprisoned for eight years without any legal procedures having been followed. Local and central government officials said that the orders came from higher up and that they could not risk losing their jobs by releasing him. -
Facts Regarding the Death of Ms. Huang Yaoying as a Result of Persecution in Gaozhou City, Guangdong Province
2008-03-05Ms. Huang Yaoying, a practitioner, died as a result of persecution in the Chengnan Police Station of Gaozhou City in 2000. Government officials claimed that the reason for Ms. Huang death was unknown, but recently it was disclosed that Ms. Huang Yaoying had most likely died as a result of police brutality. An insider revealed that Ms. Huang Yaoying was hung up with handcuffs and had likely been beaten or tortured until she lost consciousness. The room and corridor were stained with blood. One of the doctors who performed the autopsy on Ms. Huang's body stated that her body was still bleeding at the time. Ms. Huang Yaoying was pronounced dead and sent for an autopsy, but she may have still been alive. -
Mr. Qi Wei from Chaoyang District, Beijing, Taken into Custody
2008-03-05At around 9:30 p.m. on February 22nd, 2008, Mr. Qi Wei, was taking a stroll with his wife near their home when several plain clothes police officers apprehended them and took them away to the Anzhen Police Station in Chaoyang District. Half a dozen officers then broke into their home and confiscated a notebook computer and a removable hard drive. The officers viciously beat Mr. Qi Wei when he was taken into custody. Mr. Qi sustained several bruises. The police were rude and violent. -
Ms. Zong Xiuxia Dies Suddenly under Police Custody in Shandong Province
2008-03-04On February 22nd, 2008, Falun Dafa practitioner Ms. Zong Xiuxia was arrested when she was distributing leaflets in public explaining the truth about Falun Gong so that the Chinese people could understand the unreasonable persecution and what Falun Gong is really about, and she died on the same day. Her body has been frozen, and details are yet to be investigated. The police said that Ms. Zong died from jumping out of the elevator in the hospital. We find this very unreasonable, for three police officers were watching her in the hospital. How could she jump out of the elevator in a crowded hospital in the middle of the afternoon? If it was true, why weren't there any witnesses?
