  I am over 70 years old. My daughter's name is Chen Man. In March of this year, my son-in-law, Zhang Weijie, disappeared on his way to work. My anxious daughter searched high and low for news of her husband. Only after two months of searching did she find out that he has been imprisoned by the local 610 Office in the Shenjiaji Brainwashing Centre. My daughter visited the brainwashing centre on several occasions to ask about her husband. On June 8th, when she went there again, she was imprisoned in the same Shenjiaji Brainwashing Centre. Even though she is perfectly harmless and was only trying to find her husband who practises Falun Dafa, she was arrested and imprisoned. She has broken not a single law in the country.

• Crimes Committed Against Practitioners by Zheng Guihua and Others in Mengyang Town, Pengzhou City, Sichuan Province

  Yang Xinyu was born on May 13, 2000. His father, mother and grandmother are all practitioners. On a night in February 2002, officials arrested them and his grandmother without any legal reason. To force his parents to renounce Falun Dafa they also arrested Yang Xinyu, under two years old, and imprisoned him in the dark prison. Little Xinyu turned two years old in the horrible prison.

• Mr. Gan Xinju Forced to Flee His Home to Avoid Arrest and Cannot See His Newborn Daughter

  On April 7th, 2007, Gan Xinjun's daughter was born, however he has not able to see her as he had to leave his family to avoid the persecution against Falun Dafa practitioners. Since the persecution started on July 20th, 1999, Gan Xinjun has been arrested, beaten, detained, brainwashed, tortured, shocked with electric batons, and sent to a forced labour camp. Between December, 2002 and July, 2003, the 610 Office arrested Gan Xinjun twice and secretly sent him to the Wangcun Labour Camp without informing his family.

• Chuanying District Court in Jilin City Sentenced Five Practitioners after They Suffered Brutal Torture

  On September 11th, 2007 Chuanying District Court in Jilin City, Jilin Province sentenced five Falun Gong practitioners to long prison terms. Agents in the Jilin City Police Department used the following methods to torture these practitioners: 1) Compressing the practitioners' legs with spiral steel bars (used to construct buildings). 2) Force-feeding them spicy mustard oil. 3) Handcuffing practitioners with their arms behind their back and brutally beating them. 4) Sexually assaulting a female practitioner by penetrating her with a wooden stick. 5) Using plastic implements to cover practitioners' faces so they could not breathe. 6) Force-feeding them with huge amounts of salt water. They are very weak now.

• A Seven-year-old Girl's Sad Childhood

  Chuai Yulin is a seven-year-old girl from Qianxi County in Hebei Province. Yulin is a lively child and popular with everyone. However, the police arrested her Falun Gong practitioner mum last year and eventually sentenced her to five years of imprisonment. Yulin does not talk much now. This seven-year-old girl is suffering from hardships that should not happen in anyone's childhood.

• 610 Office in Baiding City Arrests Practitioner Ms. Sun Jingsu, a Kind Farmer, Breaking Into Her Home Late at Night

  At about 3:30 a.m. on August 29th, 2007, National Security guards from the 610 Office in Baiding City, Hebei Province, broke into the home of Ms. Sun Jingsu. They entered by climbing over a wall and breaking through a window, and then forcibly took her away. They imprisoned Ms. Sun in a brainwashing centre and tried twice to send her to Shijiangzhuang City Forced Labour Camp, but the camp refused to take her because of her health condition.

• How a "Thief" Was Caught

  On the afternoon of September 4th, 2007, a plainclothes police officer broke into an apartment rented by a Falun Gong practitioner couple in Quanzhou City, Fujian Province. The practitioners locked the police officer in the apartment, treating him as a thief who had broken into their residence. Subsequently, many armed police officers surrounded the building with guns. They lied, saying that a city authority went to the practitioner's house as a guest and was taken as a hostage and threatened with a knife. The police wanted to break down the door and enter the apartment. The two practitioners spoke out for justice for Falun Gong to the people passing by. The police finally admitted their intention to break in. The police officers outside said, "Please release him, as if you're handing in a thief to police!"

• Ms. Yan Xiaoli Tortured in Brainwashing Centre in Hebei Province

  Officers from the Zhuolu County 610 Office arrested Ms. Yan Xiaoli, took her to a brainwashing centre because she was caught exposing the truth of the persecution to people, and tortured her for over a month. Ms. Yan refused to cooperate during the brainwashing sessions. In retaliation, the guards forced her to stand still from 8:00 a.m. until 10:00 p.m. They cut her meals from two to one per day, and each "meal" consisted of only a steamed bun and some pickled vegetables. On two occasions, the guards bound her to an "iron chair" . She was forced to lie still and was unable sleep for the entire night. The next morning, they forced her to resume standing. The guards shouted obscenities at her if she did not stand absolutely still. She was tortured like this for a week, and then was tortured psychologically.

• The Persecution of 60-Year-Old Feng Detian and Zhang Yumei in Tanbu Town, Mengyin County, Shandong Province

  Mr. Feng Detian, 60 years old, had heart disease before he practised Falun Dafa. After Feng Detian started to practise Falun Dafa, he quickly regained his health. His wife Ms. Zhang Yumei also practises Falun Dafa. They both have experienced relentless persecution for holding onto their belief. Feng Detian was detained in the county government building. Seven or eight thugs beat him to the ground with punches and kicks, slapped him in the face, whipped him with a leather belt, and kicked and stomped him all over his body. After that they used a wooden stick to beat him and kept asking him the whereabouts of his wife and the source of the leaflets exposing the persecution in his home. Feng Detian's face was beaten beyond recognition and there was a lump as big as an egg on his forehead. His left leg, from his thigh down to his foot, was covered with bruises.

• Jinzhou City Police Harass and Detain Falun Gong Practitioners (Photo)

  On August 25th at around 10 p.m., Falun Gong practitioners Ms. Jing Cuizhen, who is over 60, and Ms. You, who is over 70, were arrested by the police and security personnel when they were distributing leaflets exposing the persecution . They were taken to the Nu'erhe Police Station. The police interrogated Jing Cuizhen attempting to force her to give a confession through torture. Jing Cuizhen was brutally beaten, and her eyes were blue and purple with hyperemia. Her lips were swollen and bleeding. The front side of her coat was covered with blood stains and her hands were cuffed behind her back. The handcuffs dug into her hands. Her hands were badly swollen and her knees were black and blue.

• Authorities at Xi'an City Women's Labour Camp Lace Falun Gong Practitioners' Food with an Unknown Substance for an Extended Period of Time

  Dafa practitioner Ms. Li Shulian is locked in solitary confinement where she is forbidden all contact with the outside world, and, two drug-addict prisoners keep her under constant surveillance. At each meal, one inmate opens a capsule filled with a powdery substance and pours the unknown white powder into Ms. Li Shulian's bowl, afterward mixing some broth and vegetables in it. After practitioners eat the vegetables, their stomachs swell. They feel weak, get headaches and nausea. They want to vomit when they see the vegetables. Ms. Li Shulian must have ingested a lot of this poison because she has withered down to skin and bones.

• Belated News: Ms. Li Jiawei Died Due to Mistreatment in Sichuan Province

  The Chinese Communist Party began to cruelly persecute Falun Dafa practitioners on July 20th, 1999. In order to speak out for justice for Falun Dafa, Ms. Li Jiawei went to Beijing to appeal for an end to the persecution but she was detained and the police extorted 500 yuan from her. She was arrested and detained again several times for distributing leaflets exposing the persecution and telling people the truth about Falun Dafa. In 2005, Ms. Li Jiawei was again detained for distributing leaflets, and at a hospital, she was forcibly injected with an unknown substance, causing her feet to become necrotic. She died due to a severe infection in her feet in November 2005.

• Persecution-Related Deaths of 11 Falun Gong Practitioners Verified in August 2007

  During a mass police arrest of practitioners Ms. Hu Yanrong, 42 years old, jumped out of a police vehicle, seriously injuring her head and consequently losing consciousness. Even though her life was in danger, the police did not notify her family and decided that she needed surgery on her head in the prison hospital. The next day (August 2nd), they notified her family. She died four days later at 2 a.m. on August 5th, 2007, without regaining consciousness after the surgery.

• When Will My Mum Be Coming Home?

  "When will my mum be coming home? I miss my mum!" Elementary school student Zhenzhen asks his paternal grandmother and his father, but they always sadly remain silent. On March 28th, 2007, Zhenzhen's mother, Ms. Ma Qingli, was suddenly taken to the Sanlizhuang Detention Centre in Yingyang City by police officers. Zhenzhen is extremely lonely now, and has nightmares. He worries about his mother's safety. Zhenzhen knows his mother is only given a small steamed bun for each meal at the detention centre, which is not adequate. He knows that the practitioners inside the detention centre are all extremely thin.

• Deputy of Jiamusi City Prison Rewards Guards Who Persecute Falun Gong Practitioners

  Liu Changyu, the Deputy of Jiamusi City Prison in Heilongjiang Province, is in charge of persecuting Falun Gong practitioners there. In order to get a high "transformation" rate, he announced during a prison guard meeting that guards would get an award of 1,000 yuan for "transforming" a practitioner. He awarded 1,000 yuan to guard Xia Yandong in the meeting. To earn the so-called award, prison guards have brutally persecuted Falun Gong practitioners.
