Businessman Dies within Two Months of Incarceration at Shanghai's Tilanqiao Prison

Mr. Zhao Bin, a Falun Gong practitioner from Shandong Province, died within two month of being detained at Tilanqiao Prison, Shanghai, on October 19th, 2013. He was 58 years old. According to reports published on Minghui, Tilanqiao Prison is called the “City of Death,” because Falun Gong practitioners are tortured there, and a number of practitioners have died as a result. Torture methods include long-term sleep deprivation and beatings with multiple electronic batons. The prison guards order other inmates to brutally beat practitioners. -
Firsthand Account: Ms. Wang Guolian Poisoned and Injected with Toxic Drugs
2013-10-31The Chinese Communist Party has used a variety of despicable means to persecute Falun Gong practitioners, including brainwashing, torture and poisoning with toxic drugs. Ms. Wang Guolian was fed poison and injected with drugs. She recounts, "Both of my hands were cuffed to each side of the bed; my feet were shackled to the other end of the bed, so I could not move at all. Sun Pingshu, the chief nurse and others then started to inject me with drugs. A few minutes later, I started shaking all over. Soon, I could not speak at all. I later experienced some abnormal conditions, including dizziness, nausea, being unable to eat, and rapid weight loss from 190 lbs to 100 lbs. Most weirdly, I started to drool during sleep every night." -
Older Ms. Yang Cuifen Dies as a Result of Persecution
2013-10-31Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Yang Cuifen, in her sixties, suddenly passed away on October 2nd, 2013, in Yunnan Province No. 2 Women’s Prison, where she had been incarcerated for more than four years. Ms. Yang’s family got a phone call from the prison informing them that she was in critical condition, and ordering them to go to the hospital to sign some documents. At the hospital, Ms. Yang's family saw that she was unrecognizable, unconscious, and barely breathing. Ms. Yang's family were taken aback by her sudden death as they hadn't noticed anything wrong in the past four years when they visited her at the prison. -
Authorities Torture a Man, Breaking His Leg, Then Refuse to Allow Him to Meet With His Attorney
2013-10-26Police arrested Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Liu Wei in November 2012 and tortured him numerous times. Along with the other injuries he suffered, his leg was broken. His family hired an attorney, but Nongan Detention Centre officials prevented Mr. Liu from meeting with his attorney. After the attorney left, Mr. Liu was tortured again by being locked to the ground and stretched for a long time. -
Ms. Xu Zhen Tortured to Death in a Labour Camp in Just 20 Days
2013-10-26The last scream from Ms. Xu Zhen was heard at 9:00 am on October 20th, 2011. It was the day that she was smothered to death at the Division 4 building of the Chongqing Women’s Forced Labour Camp. After cultivating Falun Gong, Ms. Xu became more energetic. She followed the principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance and became a much better person. However, being a good person did not prevent her from being injected with central nervous system damaging drugs in the forced labour camp, and being tortured to death. -
Falun Gong Practitioner Tortured to Death, His Sister's Household Registration Record Changed Without Consent
2013-10-26When the persecution of Falun Gong started in 1999, many practitioners were arrested, incarcerated, and tortured. Many became disabled, and some even died. One such practitioner, Mr. Tan Yanjun from Hegang City, Heilongjiang Province, was detained three times for practising Falun Gong. He was tortured so often and so brutally that he became paralysed. When his condition became critical in the middle of November 2004, he was released on medical parole. On February 27th, 2005, he died as a result of his injuries. He is survived by two young children. In addition, Tan Yanjun's younger sister, Tan Yanwei, had her residence registration changed by the police without her authorisation. -
Ms. Ji Shujun, 55, Tortured in Forced Labour Camps in Hebei Province
2013-10-22Ever since the Chinese communist regime launched the persecution of Falun Gong in July 1999, Ms. Ji Shujun's, employer and the local police have repeatedly pressured her to give up her faith. Because she remained steadfast in her belief, Ms. Ji was subjected to many years of torture in several forced labour camps in Hebei Province. The torture included being shocked with electric batons, being left to freeze outdoors in the snow, and being brutally force-fed. -
Police Officers Blind a Falun Gong Practitioner by Intentionally Rubbing Mustard Oil into His Eyes
2013-10-22Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Huang Peidong was arrested by local police in September 2009. Police tortured him at Wanghua District Police Department. They blinded him by rubbing mustard oil into his eyes. Mr. Huang recounts: "Guards tied me onto a torture device called the Tiger Bench. After pouring mustard oil into my eyes, nose, and mouth, they rubbed these areas with dirty towels. I was in extreme pain and it was beyond tolerance. The torture continued for two days and my eyesight gradually worsened. In the end, I was blind, and remain so to this day." -
Ms. Li Jumei Forced to Flee Home to Avoid Imprisonment, Her Husband Persecuted to Death
2013-10-22Falun Gong practitioners Mr. Guo Huisheng and Ms. Li Jumei, husband and wife, were arrested and detained in 2009. Mr. Guo was persecuted to death, and Ms. Li was tortured so badly that she bled profusely. Only then was she granted bail for medical treatment. Since the Chinese communist regime started persecuting Falun Gong in 1999, Ms. Li has been detained many times, sent to a forced labour camp twice, and issued heavy fines. -
Former Bank Employee Suffers Mental Collapse after Four Months in Detention
2013-10-22Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Zhao Shuyun was arrested by police on March 28th, 2013. The police ransacked her home and took her to the Dadong Detention Centre. After four months, the detention centre called Ms. Zhao's family, claiming that Ms. Zhao had suffered a mental collapse. Ms. Zhao had no mental problems before the recent arrest. Over the past eleven years of the persecution of Falun Gong, Ms. Zhao has been held six times in detention centres, brainwashing centres. She also had been held in forced labour camps three times for a total of eight years. -
Force-Feeding: Cruel Torture Used on Falun Gong Practitioners
2013-10-22Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Liu Peng was taken to the Shanghai City Tilanqiao Prison on March 10th, 2009. Mr. Liu Peng had been on hunger strike for more than one year prior. Police force-fed him with fluids by inserting a plastic tube into his nostril. They tortured him by leaving the tube inside his nostril for long periods of time. Force-feeding is a very cruel torture used by Chinese Communist Party (CCP) officials. It is never for the betterment of the prisoners, but rather to torture them. Methods such as this one are intended to make practitioners feel more miserable than death. -
Ms. Zhang Xingqi Arrested Again, Her Husband Died from Persecution
2013-10-22Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Zhang Xingqi was arrested at her home on September 3rd, as she was cooking dinner. 610 Officers (an organisation of special agents just for persecuting Falun Gong), police and other officials from the neighbourhood committee entered her home and forcibly took her to the Wujiahuayuan Brainwashing Centre, where Falun Gong practitioners have been persecuted for over ten years. Ms. Zhang’s husband, Mr. Li Zhen, was arrested for transporting Falun Gong materials. Mr. Li Zhen, 52, passed away on May 26th, 2004. -
Cruel Stretching Tortures Employed by China's Communist Regime
2013-10-15In Wanjia Forced Labour Camp Ms. Lu was dragged to the “torture room.” She was required to stand on a stool placed between two beds and each wrist was handcuffed to the end of a bed. The beds were stretched apart and the stool was then kicked aside and Ms. Lu was left suspended in midair. Her wrists began bleeding immediately. In Sanshui Forced Labour Camp, a guard can get 20,000 yuan for successfully brainwashing a practitioner, forcing them to renounce their belief. Guard Zhang Wujun used the hanging torture method on practitioner Ms. Huang Zhufeng, whose left arm was disabled after the torture. -
Falun Gong Practitioner Ms. Guo Zhaoqing Paralyzed Due to Torture in Hunan Women’s Prison
2013-10-15Ms. Guo Zhaoqing is a Falun Gong practitioner from Yiyang City, Hunan Province. She was arrested in April 2009. After being viciously beaten she became paralyzed. She was subsequently sentenced to a 10-year prison term by the Wuling District Court. Despite being paralyzed, she was forced to do hard labour in Hunan Women’s Prison, and held in solitary confinement. -
“I Still Tremble When I Think About It – I Was Locked Up In a Men's Cell at Masanjia Forced Labour Camp”
2013-10-15I will never forget the day: April 19th, 2001. On that date, the guards at Masanjia Forced Labour Camp took nine of us – women who refused to give up our belief in Falun Gong, into nine separate rooms. I was put into the first room where four male inmates were waiting. I saw another big room holding more than 30 men when I went to the toilet.
