  • Mr. Zheng Zhicheng Arrested Again, His Mother and Wife Sentenced to Forced Labour

    Falun Dafa practitioner Mr. Zheng Zhicheng is a resident of Qinhuangdao City, Hebei Province. He has remained a steadfast practitioner despite being sentenced to forced labour twice. Each time, he was sentenced to three years, for a total of six years. During Mr. Zheng's imprisonment, his father died of grief. His wife was also sentenced to 15 months of forced labour and recently his mother was sentenced to 18 months of forced labour.
  • Eight Practitioners in Qian'an City, Hebei Province, Recently Taken into Custody

    On October 11th, 2007, practitioner Ms. Liu Xiaoyuan, was taken away by the police and her home ransacked. Ms. Liu's whereabouts is currently unknown. On October 12th, Mr. Yuan Chunlin, was taken away by the police and had his home ransacked. The police seized his computer, printer, and TV antenna. Other practitioners were also arrested, had money extorted from them and tortured in a detention centre. They had all committed no crime. They only follow the principles of Truthfulness, Compassion and Tolerance.
  • Police in Shuangyashan City, Heilongjiang Province Break Into Practitioners' Homes and Take Them Into Custody

    At about 4:30 a.m. on September 28th, 2007, the 610 Office and police departments in all counties and districts of Shuangyashan City, Heilongjiang Province acted in unison to harass and arrest more than ten practitioners all over the city. The officers even dispatched cranes to break into the homes of practitioners through their windows. They made videotapes of practitioners against the practitioners' will. Ms. Wu Yuexia was sentenced to labour camp and others are still detained in the Shuangyashan City Detention Centre. It is reported that these arrests were planned by the 610 offices and police departments in all counties and districts of Shuangyashan City in a covert meeting which was held in Youyi County on September 27th.
  • Many Beijing Practitioners in Universities Arrested Recently and Their Houses Ransacked

    Agents from the Beijing 610 Office ordered agents of all 610 Offices and all government-supervised neighbourhood committees in Beijing, as well as other community officials, to go to practitioners' houses and/or call practitioners to harass them. There were rumours of another "re-education" (brainwashing) class and of renewed requirements for Falun Dafa practitioners to write "thought reports." Busybodies went to practitioner's homes wanting to "check on them." All these activities are related to a renewed intensification of the persecution of of Falun Gong surrounding the Seventeenth Party Congress and the Beijing Olympics.
  • Ms. Li Xiaoling from Shanxi Province Sentenced to Prison

    On July 20th, 2007, when Ms. Li Xiaoling, 34, gave leaflets exposing the persecution of Falun Gong to security officers in a Gaoping City government building, she was reported to the authorities and consequently arrested. Personnel from the 610 Office carried out the arrest and searched her home. On September 19th, 2007, Ms. Li Xiaoling was secretly sentenced to four years in prison. However, her family was not notified. When her family became aware of Li Xiaoling's situation, they immediately tried to appeal her case. Yang Changchun (from the 610 Office) threatened to prolong Xiaoling's imprisonment if her family followed through with the appeal.
  • Recent Persecution of Practitioners in Hengyang County, Hunan Province

    On the night of August 17th, 2007, police officers broke into and ransacked practitioner Mr. Zhu Pingzhi's home in the Baiguo Village, in Hengyang County, and took away equipment such as a computer, printer, CD burner, and materials worth a combined value of more than 20,000 yuan (about 1,250 British pounds). Mr. Zhu and his wife have escaped and decided to go into exile to avoid further persecution and arrest.
  • Officials at the Saertu Police Department in Daqing City Persecute Falun Gong Practitioners Ms. Li Hui and Ms. Du Shuxia

    Officials from the Saertu District Police Department in Daqing City, Heilongjiang Province, arrested Falun Gong practitioners Ms. Li Hui and Ms. Du Shuxia on September 22nd, 2007. They handcuffed the women behind their backs and sent them to the No. 1 Detention Centre in Daqing City at 8:00 p.m. In the days that followed they tortured and interrogated them and videotaped the entire process. They bound Li Hui to a metal chair for several days. They constantly pressured her and tried to extort a "confession." They planned to fabricate charges against the practitioners and forbade family visits. They lied to the families in an attempt to extort money by saying the practitioners had committed crimes.
  • Practitioner Wei Rongdi from Benxi City Suffers Ill Health After Detention

    On April 26th, 2007, Falun Dafa practitioner Ms. Wei Rongdi was arrested in a shop she worked in, by police. The police told her that she needed to go the police station for some minor issue. However, when she arrived at the police station, she was immediately handcuffed and interrogated. The police asked her if she practised Falun Gong. Ms. Wei Ringdi replied "Yes." She was taken to Dabailou Detention Centre. Twenty days later, she became ill and developed a large bump in her lower abdomen. On June 18th, 2007, Ms. Wei Rongdi could not eat and started to have difficulty breathing. She lost control of her bladder and bowels. She also suffered insomnia. Now she is on medical parole. She has no source of income and lives by doing odd jobs at the shop.
  • Four Practitioners From Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region Are Secretly and Sentenced

    On May 29th, 2007, under great pressure from the Autonomous Region's governing body and the 610 Office, the court in Xixia District, Yinchuan City was forced to open a hearing on four practitioners and sentenced them to heavy terms ranging from 3 years to 7 years because they practise Falun Gong. The four practitioners appealed the sentence. Yet, on July 11th, 2007, Yinchuan City Middle Court again secretly pronounced heavy sentence on the four practitioners.
  • Ms. Yin Peikun Sentenced a Second Time to Forced Labour Camp--Leaving Mentally Disabled Family Members Without Care

    Ms. Yin Peikun is a sixty year-old Falun Dafa practitioner. In late 2004, she was sentenced to two years of forced labour for distributing leaflets exposing the persecution and telling people the truth about Falun Dafa, and she was released in early 2007. On September 1st, 2007, she was arrested again. Recently, she was sentenced to another two years of forced labour. She is imprisoned at the Jinan City Women's Forced Labour Camp in Shandong Province.
  • Beijing Chaoyang Police Department Detains Mr. Wang Hongwei Again

    Wang Hongwei was persecuted many times for persisting in his cultivation. In 2001, while he was sending emails informing people about the true nature of Falun Gong in an Internet café, he was reported by the person in charge of the café and was sentenced to four and half years in jail. The jail officials forced prisoners to work making products that earned the jail huge profits. Once when he was manufacturing footballs, a needle stabbed Mr. Wang in his left eye. The sight in his left eye was severely compromised. Mr. Wang was arrested again on August 18th, 2007.
  • Police Unlawfully Arrest Mr. Tang Yiqing and His Wife Ms. Zhao Honge in Dandong City, Liaoning Province

    Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Tang Yiqing was on his way to work on the morning of September 25th, 2007 when officers and others from the Dandong Police Department stopped him and forcibly seized him. Finding his house key they broke into his home. They took away his wife, Falun Gong practitioner Zhao Honge. They ransacked his home afterwards and confiscated several items. The couple is now held at the Baifang Detention Centre in Dandong City. Ms. Zhao Honge's family members demanded her release by making personal visits to the police station, but their requests were rejected.
  • Older Practitioner Ms. Mu Yanrui Arrested--Her Husband Traumatised and Hospitalised

    On August 14th, 2007, older Falun Dafa practitioner Ms. Mu Yanrui and more than 20 other practitioners were at the home of one of the practitioners when they were arrested by the State Security Division of the municipal police department. During the arrest, Ms. Mu Yanrui was separated from the other practitioners. On August 15th, police went to Ms. Mu's home to confiscate her property. Ms. Mu Yanrui's 70-year-old husband suffers from heart disease and had recently been released from the hospital. As the neighbours watched, the police smashed a window and forcibly entered to search their home. Ms. Mu Yanrui's husband was so frightened that he required hospitalisation.
  • Ms. Wei Jianxin's Whereabouts Unknown After Being Taken Into Custody

    On September 2nd, 2007, Ms. Wei Jianxin had just returned home from shopping when director of the State Security Division took her into custody. The police officers then broke into her home and searched it. They confiscated an MP3 player and 600 yuan in cash, and demanded that Ms. Liu pay them 2,000 yuan. Ms. Liu made a living as a street vendor and her financial situation was very challenging. Ms. Wei was sent to a forced labour camp, where she resisted the persecution. Fearing her influence, the guards threatened to transfer her to another location. Currently, Ms. Wei's whereabouts are unknown.
  • Ms. Geng Jianhua and Mr. Lu Jingquan from Shanghai Arrested and Their Whereabouts Unknown

    Falun Dafa practitioner Ms. Geng Jianhua of Shanghai, in her 50's, planned to leave for Shandong Province on September 26th to visit her mother of over 80 years old. When Ms. Geng's husband, Mr. Lu Jingquan, was about to send her off, policemen from Weifang Police Station of Pudong District broke into their home and abducted the couple. No one knows their whereabouts since then. Previously, they had both been sent to a forced labour camp for two years and Ms. Geng lost consciousness after being hung up by her cuffed hands for 17 hours.
