  • Ms. Cao Zhimin from Changsha City Taken to a Brainwashing Centre

    Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Cao Zhimin was stopped by at least five unidentified men while she accompanied her daughter Yuanyuan to kindergarten on July 5th, 2010. The men dragged her and her daughter into a white, unmarked car and drove them away. Ms. Cao shouted to passers-by for help and her daughter cried. The men were later identified as officers from the Changsha City 610 Office (an organisation of special agents just for persecuting Falun Gong) and the Furong District 610 Office. They took Ms. Cao and her daughter to the Laodaohe Brainwashing Centre in Changsha City. Their family has been forbidden to visit them.
  • Elderly Couple Sentenced to Over Ten Years in Prison in Anqiu City, Shandong Province for Their Beliefs

    Mr. Ding Yuezhao and his wife, Zhang Yuying, along with three other practitioners were sentenced to heavy prison terms by Anqiu City Court, for continuing to practise Falun Gong. Mr. Ding Yuezhao was sentenced to 12 years, Ms. Zhang Yuying to 13 years, Mr. Sun Zongxu to ten years, Mr. Tang Peiwu to nine years, and Ms. Lin Shuzhen to seven years. They were arrested in December 2009 by Anqiu City police, almost tortured to death, and put on trial three times by the Anqiu City Court.
  • Practitioner Bai Sanyuan Given Four to Seven Year Prison Sentence

    Police officers broke into Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Bai Sanyuan's home on May 16th, 2010. As a result, he went to hide in his barn. Three hours later, the police shot tear gas canisters into the barn, which immobilised him and made him dizzy. They then forced him into a police car and took him to the Jingyuan County Detention Centre. Mr. Chen was tied down on the "tiger bench" for five days. He went on a hunger strike for 19 consecutive days to protest the detention. As a result, he became emaciated, his lips turned purple, and his legs cramped. He was then taken to Jingyuan County Hospital for an intravenous injection. The Court sentenced Mr. Chen to a prison term of four to seven years.
  • Mr. Jiang Xiuyu Subjected to Forced Labour in Jiutai City, Jilin Province

    Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Jiang Xiuyu was arrested by the local police on May 11th, 2010, and taken on the same day to Majiagangzi Detention Centre in Jiutai City. On May 26th, he was taken to Yinmahe Forced Labour Camp, to serve a two-year forced labour term. During the fifteen days he was held at the detention centre, his family requested visitation multiple times, but were refused by the detention centre police. On June 7th, his family went to visit him in the camp, but were denied entry by the camp police. They said it was because he had not renounced Falun Gong and was still detained in the "Strict Discipline Team."
  • Falun Gong Practitioner Ms. Liu Zhi from Shenyang City Sentenced

    After Ms. Liu Zhi was sentenced to four years imprisonment, she began to appeal. A few days later, her family entrusted two lawyers to visit Ms. Liu at the detention centre, but they could not locate her. Those in charge at the detention centre claimed that she had been taken to the women's prison, but staff at the prison said she was not there. The family learned from Zaohua Detention Centre personnel that her original verdict was upheld in Shenyang Intermediate Court and that this decision was made without notifying any of her family members. After the detention centre received the verdict, they took her to the women's prison.
  • Mr. Xiao Zunyi from Dayi County, Sichuan Persecuted for a Long Term

    I am a Falun Gong practitioner in Dayi County, Chengdu, Sichuan. Over the past ten years, I have been fined my home has been ransacked, and I've been arrested and tortured because of my belief in Falun Gong. Police ransacked my apartment again before the Olympics in August 2008. They didn't find any materials yet they took me to Xinchang Police Station. I saw there were three fellow practitioners who had already been locked up to a tree. Policemen tortured us for a confession and asked me about where I kept Falun Gong materials, but I didn't tell them. They got nothing from me in the end.
  • Five Falun Gong Practitioners Missing in Shanxi Province

    Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Ren Yong was arrested in Shuozhou City, Shanxi Province, when he was telling people the facts about Falun Gong and exposing the persecution on June 24th. Ms. Cui Yuping and other practitioners were later arrested when they visited the police station to ask about Mr. Ren's arrest. Five Falun Gong practitioners have been missing since then.
  • Court Hides Verdict in Secret Trial of a Veteran Officer

    Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Pang Liang, around 37 year-old, was sentenced to three years in prison in Henan Province, and on May 5th, was sent to the Xinmi Prison in Zhengzhou. The Court did not disclose the verdict to the Pang family, or the names of the persons involved in the trial. Mr. Pang was an officer in the Jiyuan Detachment. He was expelled from service because of his belief in Falun Gong and was arrested numerous times by agents from the Kaifeng City 610 Office (an organisation of special agents just for persecuting Falun Gong). He was brutally tortured during three years in the Xuchang Forced Labour Camp.
  • Falun Gong Practitioner Li Xiaodi Arrested

    Li Xiaodi, a Falun Gong practitioner from Tangshan City, was arrested by Communist Party members at her workplace, and by agents from the local Public Security Bureau while she was at work on June 23rd, 2010. They grabbed Ms. Li, carried her by force into a car, and took her to the division bureau. Ms. Li was transferred to Changningdao Detention Centre. The next day four men from the Kaifa District Public Security Bureau broke into Ms. Li's home. They took her personal computer, and materials that explained the truth about Falun Gong. Ms. Li is still in police custody.
  • Ms. Ma Chunli Paralysed as a Result of Persecution, Four Practitioners Attempting to Rescue Her Were Detained

    Ms. Ma Chunli's health was very poor in the past, and she was barely able to walk until she practised Falun Gong. After she began her practice, not only could she stand up, she gained employment to support her son and herself. She was arrested on March 17th, 2010, by officers from Jiadong Police Station and will have to spend two years in a forced labour camp. Ms. Ma is completely paralysed now and is not able to take care of herself. Her fellow practitioners took her young son with them to appeal for her release. They were held against their will and brutally beaten.
  • Jiang Feng Imprisoned at Baofeng Forced Labour Camp in Xuancheng, Anhui Province

    Mr. Jiang Feng is currently imprisoned in Baofeng Forced Labour Camp. Mr. Jiang was arrested by Shanghai Police on February 18th, 2010, when he was about to board a plane at the Shanghai Hongqiao Airport. He had planned to join his wife in the US. He was immediately sent to a brainwashing centre in Hefei City, Anhui Province to be persecuted. The Chinese government had denied arresting Jiang Feng, but after urging by international organizations which uphold justice, the Chinese ambassador at the European Parliament wrote a response to the president of the European Parliament Human Rights Committee in May. The letter stated that Jiang Feng had been sentenced to18 months of forced labour in March 2010.
  • Eighty-Year-Old Mother Risks Her Life to Rescue Son

    Mr. Yang Kaijun, a 50-year-old Falun Gong practitioner in Qian'an City, Hebei Province, was arrested on June 24th, 2010. His home was ransacked by police without showing any proper paperwork. His mother, already in her eighties, held onto the police van trying to stop her son's arrest. The police dragged the old lady along the ground for a long distance. Mr. Yang is now detained at Qian'an Detention Centre.
  • Daqing City Police Arrest Ms. Jin Lixia and Her Husband, Then Extort Money from Their Teen-Age Son

    Mr. Liu Zehe and his wife, Ms. Jin Lixia, from Daqing were arrested for distributing materials exposing the persecution of Falun Gong on June 18th, 2010. Ms. Jin experienced heart problems and was sent to a hospital for emergency treatment. Wolitun Police Department officers took this opportunity to force Ms. Jin's under-age son to borrow money and sign a document. They threatened they would send Ms. Jin to a forced labour camp if no money was handed in. Mr. Liu was taken to the Daqing City No.3 Detention Centre the afternoon of June 18,th.
  • Older Practitioner Ms. Li Zhuhan Arrested by Wuhan City Police

    Ms. Li Zhuhan, a 60-year-old Falun Gong practitioner, was arrested on June 24th, 2010 by 10 police officers. These people took two vans and took leaflets exposing the persecution of Falun Gong, Falun Gong DVDs, and other personal belongings from her home. When they arrested Ms. Li Zhuhan, her husband Huang asked, "Do you have an arrest warrant? How can you arrest people at will?" They stopped him and said he was interfering with their fulfilling their duties. The police then pushed him aside, forced Ms. Li Zhuhan into the car, and drove to Etouwan Brainwashing Centre.
  • Chinese Citizens Harassed for Advocating Justice for Falun Gong

    Residents of a small town in Liaoning Province were harassed for signing an appeal letter calling for justice for Xu Dawei, a Falun Gong practitioner who was tortured in custody and died 13 days after his release from prison on June 16th, 2009, due to the injuries he sustained while in custody. On April 7th, 2010, the Communist Party Secretary of the village and two policemen went to Xu's younger brother, Xu Youwei's home. They asked Xu Youwei to the Secretary's home for a “casual talk”; the talk was premeditated, however, with three members of China’s political and security apparatus already waiting for his arrival. Some villagers familiar with the case said that the “casual talk” turned into an interrogation. The officials were aggressive and abrupt. They asked Xu Youwei questions such as: “Who brought the signature form?” “Who was the leader?” “Why did you get others' signatures?”
