Crimes Committed Inside the Huhhot Women's Narcotic Rehabilitation Centre

Every practitioner is detained in one room, monitored by a drug addict inmate. One or several former practitioners who were "transformed" and had renounced Falun Gong would attempt to change the Falun Gong practitioner's mind. Police uses threats, criticisms, sarcastic greetings, and "chatting" to attempt to force practitioners to "transform". Former practitioners who were "transformed" and had renounced Falun Gong are in charge of slave labour production, which reduces their jail term. They choose the person who works most quickly as a standard to measure others. Practitioners who cannot finish the work are forced to work longer. Even the sixty or seventy year olds are not excluded from punishment. The intense workload has given them blisters and boils on their hands. -
Disabled Man Sentenced to Three Years in Prison Has Been On Hunger Strike for Two Months
2008-10-03On September 12th, 2007, Falun Gong practitioner Li Ruifeng, who is deaf and lives in Jining City, Shandong Province, was arrested by policemen while at home. They ransacked his bedroom and took away personal belongings and a computer. On the same day, another twenty Falun Gong practitioners from Shizhong District, Jining City were arrested. On the morning of July 14th, 2008, Li Ruifeng was secretly tried by the Shizhong District Court with no prior notice, and without informing his family. On July 24th, he was sentenced to three years in prison. From July 20th, Li Ruifeng has been on a hunger strike, in order to protest the long-term detention. -
Mr. Ma Kaihua in Renqiu City, Hebei Province, Inhumanly Persecuted During the Olympics
2008-10-02On August 7th, 2008, a plain-clothes police officer went to practitioner Ma Kaihua's home claiming that he wanted Mr. Ma to decorate his house. When he confirmed that it was Mr. Ma's home, police arrived and searched the premises without presenting any legal papers. Of August 8th, about 50 police surrounded Ma Kaihua's house. They climbed up to the top of the house and surrounded Mr. Ma, who was sleeping on the roof. A gang of policemen attacked him. They violently beat him with sticks and rubber batons and shocked him with high voltage electric batons. They continued to beat him until he fell off the roof, which was seven metres high. The ground was cement and Mr. Ma was unconscious after the fall. They arrested him and took him to hospital. Mr. Ma was in a critical condition. -
Intensified Persecution at Masanjia Forced Labour Camp During the Olympics
2008-10-01During the Beijing Olympics in July and August of 2008, Masanjia Forced Labour Camp in Shenyang City, Liaoning Province, escalated the persecution of Falun Gong practitioners. Guards tortured steadfast practitioners with electric batons, placed them on the "Stretching Bed," This method of torture involves placing a practitioner in the middle of two beds with his or her arms and legs tied to the beds. The beds are then pulled apart. Practitioners have screamed out in unbearable pain from this torture. Guards also forced them to stand in the hot sun for long periods of time, slapped their faces, and beat them. -
Exposing the Brainwashing Centre in Plant 854, Pengzhou City
2008-09-30A brainwashing centre is located inside of Plant 854, an abandoned military logistics plant. The local 610 Office rented over 20 rooms from the plant during the Beijing Olympics and uses them as a brainwashing centre to secretly persecute Falun Gong practitioners. Many practitioners were tortured to death or physically disabled in the previous brainwashing centre. Furthermore, the Pengzhou 610 Office colluded with the mental hospital in Pengzhou to inject drugs to damage practitioners' central nervous systems. Falun Gong practitioners were mentally healthy, but they were so severely tortured with the injections, that they were incoherent and appeared mentally ill after one night. -
Ms. Ding Guiying from Honggang District, Daqing City Sentenced to Forced Labour
2008-09-30Ms. Ding Guiying, in her fifties, makes a living as a hairdresser and also rents out some apartments. Since she began practising Falun Gong in 1996, she followed the principles of Truth-Compassion-Forbearance and was known to be a noble person. She provided warm and thorough service to her customers. For those who rented her apartments, she provided them with quilts without any charge. Her husband passed away a long time ago. She raised her two daughters on a meagre income. From the perspective of her neighbours, Ms. Ding is kind hearted and has a strong will. Yet, with no regard for her upstanding character, the authorities sentenced her to forced labour recently. -
The "Little White Building" Brainwashing Centre in Baoding City, Where Falun Gong Practitioners Are Brutally Persecuted
2008-09-28Baoding Forced Labour Camp adopted brutal methods to try to forcibly "transform" Falun Gong practitioners. These tortures included forcing practitioners to use both hands to hold their heads and feet while staying in a squatting position for a long time, to lie on a wooden board, to be handcuffed to a bed frame for a long time in an awkward position, unable to stand or sit comfortably; and to endure "stewing the eagle" (long-term sleep deprivation). Political instructors often ordered criminal inmates such as robbers and thieves to beat and torture practitioners Wang Defu and Yu Yongqi with electric batons. -
Nineteen Practitioners Held at a Brainwashing Centre in Laishui County, Hebei Province
2008-09-27Police officers from the National Security Team, Police Department and the 610 Office in Laishui County, Hebei Province staged mass arrests of Falun Gong practitioners, ransacked their homes, sentenced them to prison and detained them before the Beijing Olympics. After they were held at the Laishui County Detention Centre, some practitioners were taken to the brainwashing centre at the target practice field which is located in Laishui County. The target practice field was supposed to be a training place for the militia, but it has become an important site where Laishui County Chinese Communist Party (CCP) officials torture Falun Gong practitioners. -
Police Arrest Ms. Chen Fang, a Practitioner from Xianning City, Hubei Province
2008-09-27On July 14th, Ms. Chen Fang, a practitioner, was forced into a car as she was walking with her daughter. Her neighbour wrote down the licence plate number. Informants said that it was a car from the Wenquan Police Bureau, in Xianning City. Soon after Ms. Chen was arrested, several policemen went to Ms. Chen Fang's home with an arrest document and forced her mother-in-law to sign it. Enraged at this, her mother-in law refused to sign the arrest document and chastised the police for behaving like gangsters. Ms. Chen Fang was taken to a brainwashing centre. Her husband, Mr. Yu Jinguang, has been sentenced to three years of forced labour. -
The Chengdu "Law Education Centre" Violates the Law
2008-09-26The Xinjin Brainwashing Centre has received orders to force practitioners to renounce Falun Gong by any means necessary. The most vicious means is the administration of drugs that damage the central nervous system. First they mix a type of drug with food, which interferes with normal physical functions. After victims take this drug, they experience a variety of physical ailments. Then they would claim to treat the victims' illnesses with drugs that damage the central nervous system, causing excruciating pain and sometimes feelings of paranoia and mental instability. After their release, practitioners who have been persecuted this way often suffer serious after-effects to their brain, heart and stomach. They often experience memory loss, lethargy, panic attacks, heart palpitations, stomach cramps and other symptoms. -
Ms. Wang Liqiu Brainwashed in Jilin Women's Prison
2008-09-25On February 13th, 2007, Ms. Wang Liqiu was arrested by police. The arresting officers forced eight bottles of a mustard solution into Ms. Wang's nose, causing her to go into shock. After pouring cold water on her to wake her, they continued torturing her until she was on the verge of death. With no evidence of any wrongdoing, Ms. Wang was still sentenced to three years at the Jilin Province Women's Prison on November 23rd, 2007. The guards put her on a torture device called the "stretching bed." While imprisoned, Ms. Wang and her fellow practitioners were brainwashed every day. They are also forced to study materials slandering Falun Gong. -
Large Scale Arrests and Abuses of Falun Gong Practitioners in Qidong County, Hunan Province before the Beijing Olympics
2008-09-25Before the Beijing Olympics, in Hunan Province, the 610 Office and local police stations in every township in Qidong County ordered police to arrest Falun Gong practitioners on a large scale and detain them. They ransacked practitioners' homes, and confiscated Falun Gong books and informational materials and valuable personal property. The police also beat practitioners. On August 4th, several police officers climbed up from the first floor through the security grill and broke into practitioner Shi Zhenhua's window. Seven officers dragged Ms. Shi into the police car and took her to the police station. Zhou Aimin kicked and beat Ms. Shi. Her legs were severely injured and her chest and back were badly bruised. Then the police took Ms. Shi to the county detention centre. -
Persecution of Falun Gong Practitioner Ms. Li Jingyan from Weifang City, Shandong Province
2008-09-25Ms. Li Jingyan appealed for Falun Gong to the government officials in the winter of 2000, telling them of the benefits of the practice. They were arrested and detained in a local retirement home. Li Jingyan tried to talk to the guards, "We practise Falun Gong and try to be good people. Why do you beat and detain us?" They immediately beat her with police batons. She lost consciousness and was sent to the town hospital for emergency care. On February 26th, 2006, Ms. Li was arrested at home. Police subjected her to a beating, breaking her nose in the process. On July 9th, 2008 Li Jingyan was arrested again and sent to Wangcun Forced Labour Camp. -
Ms. Zhang Yijie Recounts Nine Years of Persecution
2008-09-24The Party has spared no means to try to coerce Falun Gong practitioners to renounce their belief. While at the labour camp, I was several times held in solitary confinement, a small, dark room. The first time, they did not let me sleep for 18 days, and the second time I was forced to stand continuously for 42 days and nights, while nine people took turns torturing me and attempted to coerce me to write a guarantee statement to renounce Falun Gong. I also sustained severe injury in my lower back and legs from beatings. I endured endless, unspeakable abuse: complete isolation, drawn-out starvation, toilet use restriction, sleep deprivation, beatings, and psychological abuses too numerous to count, that left me with wounds and near-blindness in both eyes, and stunted speech. -
A Letter Written in Prison by Ms. Liu Fengmei for Her Family
2008-09-24On August 27th, 2008 when the Chinese Communist Party Court sentenced me to 13 years of imprisonment, my heart was trembling. At that moment I saw even more clearly the evil nature of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP), which is made up of gangsters and resorts to violence and deceit. I knew that the result of this trial would be too much for my family and all my relatives to bear. During the four-day-long trial, a Beijing lawyer argued a not-guilty defence. At the trial several practitioners explained the tortures they had been subjected to and showed the court their scars from the electric baton shocks. Not a single judge came over to look. They were completely indifferent. In the end, the judges publicly read out a statement fabricated by the police.
