  • Lecturer from Communication University of China Tortured in Forced Labour Camp

    On July 17th, 2008, I was transferred to the Xindian Women's Forced Labour Camp after nine months of detention at the Beijing Women's Forced Labour Camp. They extended my term for another three months for “hiding Falun Gong articles.” I was brutally beaten, verbally abused, and locked in solitary confinement. I was forced to sit on a small stool in front of a surveillance camera all day. I was not allowed to take a shower for six months. After four months of solitary confinement, I wrote letters to the director of the labour camp, demanding an end to the solitary confinement. My requests went unanswered. Drug addicts broke into my room while I was writing a letter and hit me in the face and head. They also kicked my legs. The beating lasted for about 50 minutes.

    I was arrested and taken to the Hongshan Addiction Treatment Centre in July 2002. After arriving at the brainwashing centre, several employees threatened me, saying, “If you still keep your faith, we want you to know what you're going to suffer. We'll get a psychiatrist to certify that you're ill and you'll be taken to a mental hospital, where you'll get electric shocks. Your husband will be ordered to divorce you. We'll say that you committed suicide if we throw you out the window. We'll hang you up from the ceiling.”
  • Liaoning Women's Prison Makes Huge Profits by Using High-Intensity Forced Labour

    In 2002, I was sentenced to 3 years of prison because of my belief. I was imprisoned at Liaoning Province Women's Prison for three years. There were over 3,000 people imprisoned there, including innocent Falun Gong practitioners. I was assigned to a machine-sewing assembly group. We produced uniforms, sheets, bedspreads, pillowcases, curtains, all kinds of clothes (including jeans, sleepwear, shirts, children's clothes, skirts, and so on), pillows, pads, slipcovers, piano covers, table covers, television covers, and covers for drinking water dispensers. Sometimes we also hand-sewed gloves, sweaters, toys and more. Detainees in the prison are subjected to extended hours of forced labour, usually 15 hours per day. Sometimes people are so tired that they faint, feel sick, or vomit.
  • Falun Gong Practitioner Ms. Cao Yixiang, 56, Brutally Tortured at the No. 2 Women's Forced Labour Camp in Shandong Province

    Ms. Cao Yixiang is 56 years old and her health greatly improved through the practice of Falun Gong. To help people see through the Chinese Communist Party's (CCP) lies, she distributed Falun Gong leaflets exposing the persecution. Malicious people fabricated stories about her and reported her. On October 17th, 2008, she was sentenced to one year in Shandong Province No. 2 Women's Forced Labour Camp. She suffered unimaginable torture. She explains, "I asked to go to the toilet. They refused to let me go. Eventually I couldn't hold it any longer and I had to urinate in my trousers. Inmates ran up to me and hit me so hard that I fell down. They kicked me and stomped all over me. After beating me, one pulled my feet and the other pulled my arms to drag me around and throw me on the floor. They used my body to mop the floor."
  • Ms. Du Mingliang's Personal Account of Persecution in a Psychiatric Hospital

    The Chinese Communist Party (CCP) started persecuting Falun Gong in July 1999. I went to Beijing to appeal on December 25th, 1999, and have since been subjected to the persecution. The 610 Office (an organisation of special agents just for persecuting Falun Gong) in Huaian City repeatedly arrested me and ransacked my home. They detained me five times, sentencing me to two years and nine months of forced labour, and later sentenced me to four years and six months of imprisonment. Chinese Communist Party (CCP) officials also tortured me in a psychiatric hospital, force-feeding me harmful drugs. They even alienated me from my family, trying to force me to give up my belief.
  • Cao Xuewen from Wuchang City, Heilongjiang Province Describes His Persecution Experiences

    Mr. Cao Xuewen was arrested by the police three times and persecuted in a brainwashing centre two times. He was also forced to become homeless once. He explains, "brainwashing attempts to "transform" [forcibly renounce Falun Gong] practitioners who follow Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance into people who smoke, fight, and cast blame on others. A practitioner was only considered "transformed" when he had signed a guarantee statement to renounce practising Falun Gong. Those in charge extorted a large amount of money from the "transformed" practitioners and also demanded that the practitioners thank them for their so-called "transformation.""
  • After Being Detained in Forced Labour Camps Three Times, Ms. Chen Xiumei Sues Her Persecutors

    My name is Chen Xiumei. I am from Baoding, Hebei Province. Between January 15th, 2009 and January 23rd, 2010, I was detained in the First Division of Hebei Women's Forced Labour Camp. During this period, Liu Ziwei, Chief of the First Division, tortured me. He ordered guards to pull my hair, and beat and verbally abuse me, which left permanent scars on my body. My right arm was partially disabled. They also spread rumours, saying that I had psychosis. I request the procuratorial departments to open a case, conduct an investigation, and pursue any criminal conduct of the accused persons according to the law.
  • Ms. Gui Qionghua: "Practising Falun Gong Eliminated My Cancer, But I Was Persecuted by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) for Speaking the Truth"

    Ms. Gui Qionghua, 40, is a farmer in Yunnan Province. For six years she had uterine cancer. After a practitioner told her about Falun Gong in 2004, she began to practise and her health recovered within six days. She then started to distribute informational materials explaining what Falun Gong is and how practitioners are being persecuted by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP), but the police arrested her and subjected her to various forms of abuse.
  • Ms. Deng Hui's Personal Account of Persecution

    In May 2002. I was sentenced to three years of forced labour, and was first taken to the Xili Brainwashing Centre. After seven months of brainwashing sessions, I was transferred to the Sanshui Forced Labour Camp. They used many methods to torture me in the labour camp, such as denying me use of the toilet, depriving me of sleep, and forcing me to remain in strenuous positions for long periods of time.
  • Practitioners Persecuted in Harbin City Drug Rehabilitation Forced Labour Camp

    Twelve practitioners were detained in Harbin City Drug Rehabilitation Forced Labour Camp in Heilongjiang Province from July 1st to July 3rd, 2010. They were brutally tortured in an attempt to force them to give up their belief in Falun Gong. Ms. Liu Shuling refused to sign a guarantee statement to stop practising Falun Gong, and so the guards kept her tied to the iron chair and extended her term at the camp by three more months. While the practitioners were handcuffed to the iron chairs, the guards covered all the windows and doors with newspaper, so nobody from outside could see them. It was very hot inside the room. The handcuffs deeply cut into the flesh. After a few days of no sleep, they were mentally and physically exhausted. Ms. Liu was tortured to death on July 3rd.
  • My Experience in Heizuizi Forced Labour Camp in Jilin Province

    In September 2001, while I was handing out materials about Falun Gong I was arrested. I was sentenced to one year of forced labour in Heizuizi Forced Labour Camp in Jilin Province. Two employees attempted to brainwash me against Falun Gong. I started a hunger strike to protest the persecution. The prison guards yelled at me and I was physically abused. They slapped me on the face and made me stand in a corner. My forehead and back of my head swelled up with lumps. They put me on the death bed and force-fed me twice daily. After I was released, my husband divorced me because the pressure and fear was too much. I was also fired from my job, which made my life even harder.
  • Mr. Cai Zhixiong Tortured at Changsha City Brainwashing Centre in Hunan Province

    Summer is the busiest time of the year to sell seeds for practitioner Mr. Cai Zhixiong from Hunan Province. However, this summer, he was arrested by officers from the local agriculture bureau and the Yongxing County 610 Office (an organisation of special agents just for persecuting Falun Gong) in Hunan Province. Mr. Cai was detained and tortured in the brainwashing centre. He also suffered serious economic losses due to missing the busiest part of the season. He recounts his experience in detention: "Chen Ziming often pinched my throat, beat me, and poked me with a bamboo stick. He pushed me against the wall and twisted my arms behind my back. Then, Xu Lijun hit my hip with one of his knees and told me that it was good for me."
  • How I Escaped Death at Shandong Province No. 2 Women's Forced Labour Camp

    I was arrested on December 25th, 2008 after being reported to the authorities while handing out fliers about Falun Gong. I was held at the Shandong Province No. 2 Women's Forced Labour Camp for one and a half years. In attempts to "reform" [forcibly renounce Falun Gong] me, labour camp officials used mental and physical torture on me. The torture made me disabled, and I was carried home on July 2nd, 2010.
  • Zhu Yifang, a Falun Gong Practitioner from Sichuan Province, Is Hung up with Handcuffs and Injected with Unknown Drugs

    After the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) started the persecution of Falun Gong, Ms. Zhu Yifang was detained several times. She was once hung up with handcuffs for seven days and nights and tortured with "Five Horses Splitting the Body." She was force-fed and injected with unknown drugs. Ms. Zhu says: "Due to long-term brutal persecution, I was severely damaged both physically and mentally. Even now my health is still very bad. I cannot straighten up my back because of pain. My body is swollen, I cannot walk, and I cannot take care of myself on a daily basis. I have lost the ability to work or to live a normal life."
  • Torture of Falun Gong Practitioners in Hebei Province Women's Prison

    I personally saw the torture of a Falun Gong practitioner in Hebei Province Women's Prison. She refused to cooperate with the prison authorities, and was punished with being forced to sit on a tiny stool every day. She was not allowed to speak and sometimes was not allowed to go to bed until midnight. She was constantly cursed at and beaten. Frequently she would have nightmares and scream in the middle of the night. As a result, she suffered even more brutal beatings. Many times she was dragged by guards into a restroom and brutally beaten. She was also dragged into a lobby, where she was forced to stand for a long time. On more than one occasion, her mouth was taped shut and she was dragged along the ground while completely naked.
