Three Older Women Die as a Result of Persecution
2010-04-16
Ms. Sun Xianfen, 65 years old, was a retired teacher. Practising Falun Gong had restored her to health. After the persecution began, her home was ransacked twice in 2001 and 2002. On May 23rd, 2003 Ms. Sun was arrested by police. She was detained in a detention centre in Anlu City. During her detention she was given food infested with worms. She went on a hunger strike for three days and a guard slapped her face to punish her for her hunger strike. Because she would not write statements to denounce Falun Gong, she was not allowed to sleep. She was taken home on June 23rd, 2003. In 2005 police went to her home and forced her to write statements denouncing Falun Gong. On November 23rd, 2009, she passed away in despair. -
The Maltreatment of Mr. Yang Weihua Before His Death
2010-04-13Mr. Yang Weihua, 35, started to practise Falun Gong in July 1996. After the persecution began he was sent to Changlinzi Forced Labour Camp where he suffered inhuman torture. While detained there, he was beaten and shocked with electric batons by the guards and criminals in the camp. They did not allow him to sleep for a long period of time, and he was forced to work for over 16 hours a day. After he was released, he did not recover from the torture he experienced and was on the verge of death. Mr. Yang passed away on June 5th, 2008. -
Ms. Xiao Silan Sentenced to Three Years of Forced Labour
2010-04-13Ms. Xiao Silan was sentenced to three years of forced labour on March 18th, 2010 for refusing to give up her belief in Falun Gong. Before her arrest, local practitioner Mr. Guo Huisheng was arrested for phoning the police to rescue Ms. Xiao Silan. He was brutally beaten and died as a result of the severe injuries caused by the beating. -
56-Year-Old Ms. Hu Suhua Dies in Custody in the Hohhot City Police Department
2010-04-10Ms. Hu Suhua used to have many sicknesses, which made her miserable. All of her diseases were cured after she started practising Falun Gong. After the persecution began in 1999, she was arrested multiple times and sent to forced labour camps twice. Her husband divorced her under huge pressure. She had to leave her hometown to live in Hohhot City in order to avoid being arrested. Before her death, she was followed by the police, and her rental home was ransacked. She died in custody in the Hohhot City Police Department around March 4th, 2010. -
In Memory of Practitioner Liu Xuguo
2010-04-10Mr. Liu Xuguo worked at an electrical repair shop for the Yishan Chemical Industry Company in Zoucheng City, Shandong Province. Ten years ago, he was tortured to death. I was saddened by the loss of a good practitioner. Liu Xuguo was sentenced to three years in the Jining City Forced Labour Camp. Liu Xuguo and other practitioners went on a hunger strike to protest the maltreatment they were experiencing. Liu Xuguo was force-fed. As a result, he ended up with fluid in his lungs from injuries caused during insertion of the feeding tube. On February 4th, his family was notified that Liu Xuguo was in critical condition. On February 10th, he passed away. He was only 29 years old. -
Ms. Zhou Zhiying Dies in Custody in Jiangsu Province
2010-04-09Ms. Zhou Zhiying was a recipient of the "Excellent Teacher Award" in Wuxi City, Jiangsu Province. She was nonetheless arrested and sentenced to forced labour because she practised Falun Gong and followed the principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance. She was arrested in 2002 for the second time, then sentenced to four years of imprisonment. Ms. Zhou was arrested and imprisoned in the brainwashing centre again on September 30th, 2009. When she returned home on February 1st, 2010, her family found that she had suffered a massive mental collapse, and her body was covered with bruises and puncture marks from needles. The Jiangyin City 610 Office took Ms. Zhou to the Jiangyin City Qingshan Mental Hospital, where she remained until she died in late March. -
Three Elderly Falun Gong Practitioners from Fuzhi Village, Shuangcheng City, Heilongjiang Province, Have Died as a Result of Persecution
2010-04-09Ms. Gao Xiulan started to practise Falun Gong in 1996. Prior to that she used to suffer from numerous illnesses, including a bacterial infection of the trachea and emphysema. At the end of 2000, officers from a police station in Lequn Township arrested her because she practised Falun Gong and held her in Shuangcheng City No. 1 Detention Centre. Ms. Gao was later detained in a village factory for a month, where she was subjected to brainwashing to try to force her to renounce her belief. As a result of the incarceration and other forms of torture, Ms. Gao eventually passed away in April 2006, at the age of 66. -
Mr. Xiao Hongmo Dies in Custody in Sichuan Province
2010-04-08Mr. Xiao Hongmo went to Beijing to appeal for Falun Gong in early 2001, and was arrested and sentenced to five years of imprisonment. Mr. Xiao was secretly sentenced to another five years in prison at the Deyang City Prison in 2008. On July 25th, 2009, he was injected with an unknown drug, which caused him to become unconscious and incontinent. He was taken to Deyang City People's Hospital for emergency treatment. Prison administrators lied to his family, saying that he developed a tumour in his brain. His mother and a friend went to visit him, but they were chased out and forbidden from visiting him. He was taken to the Sichuan Province General Police Hospital in Chengdu City on July 27th, 2009, and died there in mid-March 2010. -
Falun Gong Practitioners Persecuted in Gejiu City, Yunnan Province
2010-04-08Since the persecution began on July 20th, 1999, officials in Gejiu City have been persecuting Falun Gong practitioners. Nearly 100 practitioners have been sent to brainwashing centres, and up to 40 practitioners have been arrested and sentenced to forced labour or imprisonment. Three of them, including Ms. Zhang Xiuying and Ms. Yang Sufen, died as a result of the persecution, and two were permanently disabled. One of the practitioners at the Yunnan No. 2 Women's Prison was given injections that damaged her central nervous system. Several others had to leave home to avoid being persecuted further. -
Ms. Zhang Weihua Dies as Result of Persecution in Sichuan Province
2010-04-06Ms. Zhang Weihua used to suffer from asthma, but her health greatly improved after she began practising Falun Gong in 1996. She went to Beijing to appeal for Falun Gong after the persecution began in July 1999. She was arrested multiple times, detained, and sent to a forced labour camp and brainwashing centre, which damaged her health. She died on January 29th, 2010, at the young age of 32. -
60-Year-Old Ms. Shi Yingchun Persecuted to Death at Liaoning Province Women's Prison
2010-04-05On March 18th, 2010, Ms. Shi Yingchun was persecuted to death at the Liaoning Province Women's Prison. Just for practising Falun Gong, she had been repeatedly arrested and detained. She had been sentenced to forced labour twice and detained in a labour camp for a total of five years. On August 30th, 2008, she was arrested again and sentenced to seven years in prison. She was detained at the Liaoning Province Women's Prison until her death. -
Ms. Zhang Fengzhen Paralyzed as a Result of Beatings Suffered at Liaoning Women's Prison--Dies after Five Years
2010-04-04Ms. Zhang Fengzhen died in Shenyang City, Liaoning Province, on March 9th, 2010. For five years, she was paralyzed and suffered pain as a result of vicious beatings she was subjected to while held at the Liaoning Province Women's Prison, for refusing to renounce her belief in Truthfulness-Benevolence-Forbearance. Ms. Zhang was arrested in 2001 for distributing Falun Gong-related materials. The Heping District Court in Shenyang City sentenced her to three and a half years in prison. In March 2003, she was taken to the Liaoning Province Women's Prison (then known as Dabei Prison). Prison guards ordered inmates to beat her nonstop for six hours. As a result, her liver was ruptured. She was extremely weak when she was released in 2005. Shortly after her release, she became entirely paralyzed, and later lost the ability to speak. -
Details Surrounding the Death and Torture of Mr. Jiang Bingzhi at Suihua Forced Labour Camp
2010-04-01Fifty-nine-year-old Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Jiang Bingzhi was sent to the Suihua City Forced Labour Camp in October 2008, where he was savagely tortured and left at the brink of death in August 2009. Labour camp officials then notified his family to come see him at the Beian Hospital, the first visit since his arrest. His family saw bruises on his legs. Mr. Jiang died a few days later on August 26th, 2009. -
Ms. Xu Shihua from Nong'an County, Jilin Province Dies Due to Persecution
2010-04-01Ms. Xu Shihua is a practitioner from Jilin Province, who after the persecution of Falun Gong started, endured long-term detention, as well as constant harassment and pressure. In 2002, Ms. Xu was forced to leave home to avoid persecution. The police nonetheless ransacked her home in her absence. The police went to her son's home and handcuffed him to a heating pipe while interrogating him about his mother's whereabouts. They also went to the homes of Ms. Xu's parents, sisters and brothers, searching for her. When Ms. Xu was homeless, she didn't have enough warm clothes in the winter or enough money to live on. Her health deteriorated. After suffering severely both mentally and physically, she passed away on January 18th, 2010, at the age of 58. -
Falun Gong Practitioner Ms. Yin Fengqin Dies During Arrest at Home
2010-03-31On January 29th, 2010, Chang Zheng, a member of the Jilin Province 610 Office (an organisation of special agents just for persecuting Falun Gong) led police officers to 63-year-old Ms. Yin Fengqin's home to arrest her. After the officers forced their way into her home, Ms. Yin suddenly plunged from the fifth floor balcony, shattering her skull, fracturing her arms and legs, and forcing her ribs through her skin. Although she was taken to Yanbian Hospital, she had already died.
