  • French National Newspaper Reports How Chinese Leaders’ Dislike of Seeing Falun Gong Caused Paris Traffic Jam

    On January 30th, 2004, Major National newspaper Le Figaro published an article entitled "Monstrous Traffic Jam during Hu Jintao's visit". The article revealed how Chinese Officials were so afraid to see brochures on persecution in China that they demanded that several major roads in Paris be closed during their official visit. During the few days of the President's visit, the majority of Parisioners felt that it was overly-extreme of the French authorities to enforce extra and extreme security measures to meet the demands of the Chinese president.
  • French National Radio Attends Falun Gong Press Conference

    On January 29th 2004, France’s national Radio station RTL attended a Falun Gong Press Conference. After listening and asking questions to Falun Gong spokespersons for one hour, the journalist interviewed Mrs. Chen Ying who was persecuted and brainwashed in China for refusing to renounce her practice of Falun Gong.

  • National French Newspaper Le Monde Denounces the Chinese Regime's Pressuring of Authorities in France

    In Paris, a sharp contrast was seen between the Chinese President speech at the National Assembly in Paris, which was boycotted by half of the deputies in protest, and the peaceful appeal of Falun Gong in front of the same building. With a touch of humour, the Le Monde journalist hinted at how absurd it is to treat such peaceful people as if they were a threat to security in order to please a regime that does not hesitate to exert economic pressure to hide its crimes.

  • France: Media Coverage of Jiang's Persecution Exported from China to Paris

    On January 22nd 2004, a journalist working for Yahoo France conducted a long interview with two French Falun Gong practitioners about the pressure exerted by the Chinese regime on French authorities, forcing them to exclude Falun Gong from the Chinese New Year Parade in Paris. The journalist took the opportunity to say that Falun Gong is a peaceful method, and that the main person responsible for the persecution in China is former leader Jiang Zemin, who is now being sued for genocide in several European countries.
  • French National Paper Liberation Reports on Lawsuit Filed Against Chinese Minister

    On January the 28th 2004, the French national newspaper Libération reported on Falun Gong practitioners' legal actions against Chinese Culture Minister Sun Jiazheng. The lawsuit filed by practitioners in France accuses him of the crime of Torture in his involvement in the persecution of Falun Gong practitioners in China. Mr. Sun was accompanying President Hu Jintao on a state visit to France when the case was filed.

    The persecution of Falun Gong has been going on for several years now. The Chinese authorities fear that it will develop and become a strong grass root movement, which could be hard to control. Practitioners say that they have no political agenda, and that they just want to help people become better human beings with this method. There are several examples where western governments have kowtowed to the Chinese leaders, and prohibited demonstrations, says Giertsen. This has happened both in Iceland, Denmark and Germany.

    LONDON (EFGIC) Citizens of the U.S., U.K., Denmark and France were among at least 11 arrested in Paris this past Saturday for wearing clothing with the words Falun Gong on it. These arrests appear to have been an attempt to keep the presence of Falun Gong invisible from the many Chinese groups that took part in a Chinese New Years Day parade.

    'During the Chinese New Year celebrations over the last weekend in France, 20 Chinese and Western practitioners were arrested, simply because they wore yellow scarves or yellow sweaters with the words of "Falun Gong" or "Zhen Shan Ren" (meaning Truthfulness, Compassion and Tolerance). The French police told them that they were arrested because “Yellow was illegal in France”. Even people not wearing yellow, but just wearing blue scarves with the words “Falun Dafa” were arrested.'
