CHICAGO: Attorneys for Falun Gong practitioners filed an appeal Monday in the U.S. Supreme Court in a civil lawsuit against former Chinese dictator Jiang Zemin. He is charged with torture, crimes against humanity, and genocide in connection with the persecution of Falun Gong he initiated in July 1999. This case raises fundamental legal issues in U.S. law and in the relationship of U.S. law to international law. -

2005-02-07The "self-immolation" incident reported in the article has already been renounced worldwide as a hoax...I was very disappointed that the article gave no real opposing opinion to that of the Chinese Communist Party. Given that the Chinese government is currently waging what has been increasingly been called genocide by international observers against Falun Gong, it would seem impossible to get an objective viewpoint simply by quoting the Chinese government's point of view. -
