Canadian Lawyers Take on Torture Suit Against Jiang Zemin
2004-03-22On March the 12th 2004, Canadian citizen Professor Zhang Kunlun requested Canadian Justice Minister Irwin Cotler's permission to press criminal charges against 22 persecutors of Falun Gong, including Jiang Zemin, the former Chinese president. 2004-03-17Falun Gong practitioner Piao Zhongyuan and others in Seoul, the capital city of Korea, filed lawsuits with the Seoul Central Court, charging Li Bin, the Chinese ambassador in Korea, Zhang Xin, the Chinese Consul General and five other Chinese consular officials with defamation. Korean Falun Gong practitioners said the purpose of the lawsuit is to clarify the truth to the judge and other legal officials, to expose the defendants' crime of defaming the plaintiffs, and to prevent them from continuing to promote Jiang's persecution abroad, so people can be saved from Jiang's mind-poisoning lies. -

During the past nearly five months when Ms. Fu was detained and then put on trial, the authorities have violated Chinese regulations and international laws, and they have violated the citizens' freedom of belief guaranteed by the Chinese Constitution.
