Police monitored, arrested and brutally tortured to death Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Chen Yanru in April 2008 for his belief in the principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance. In his own words: "As I lie here dying, and about to depart this world, I am determined to write down the incidents of brutal torture and mistreatment that I have experienced, to use as evidence of the evil deeds used by the CCP and to appeal to the world--please remember the atrocities of this persecution." -
After Nine Years of Torture in Prison, Father and Son Did Not Recognise Each Other
2010-07-26After the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) started the persecution of Falun Gong on July 20th, 1999, Zou Guoyan went to Beijing three times to appeal on behalf of the practice. He was arrested and detained six times. In June 2001, he was sentenced to a nine-year prison term. Mr. Zou suffered unspeakable brutalities in detention. He returned home on June 15th, 2010. However, his wife had passed away and his 19-year-old son was living with his uncle. Nine years earlier, when Mr. Zou was sentenced to prison, his son was still a child. Now grown up, father and son did not recognise each other when they met. -
Ms. Liu Huili from Liaoning Province Arrested
2010-07-26Seven police officers broke into Ms. Liu Huili's home on July 13th, 2010. They lied, saying they needed to discuss something with her, and ordered Ms. Liu to accompany them. Ms. Liu refused to comply. The police searched her home and seized her tape recorder, mobile phone, Falun Gong books, and other personal property. They took Ms. Liu to the county domestic security division and then to Jinzhou Detention Centre. -
Mr. Ban Sanyuan Sentenced, Appeal Ignored by the Court
2010-07-26Police applied tear gas on Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Bai Sanyua in his own barn on May 16th, 2010. After Mr. Bai was overcome by the gas, police arrested him and detained him at the Jingyuan County Detention Centre. Because of his hunger strike to appeal, police handcuffed and chained Mr. Bai to a "tiger bench" for nine days until he was in critical condition. He became very skinny and his body became numb. Even though Mr. Bai was not present, the court held a hearing on June 23rd and sentenced him. Mr. Bai appealed against the sentence but the court told him that he had missed his chance to appeal. -
Corrupt Chinese Communist Party (CCP) Police Steal Businessman's Car, Interrogate and Torture Driver
2010-07-25On May 21st, 2010, I couldn't find my car or the driver. I didn't become concerned until the next day when I still couldn't find the car or the driver, and I lost phone contact with the driver. The car and the driver both seemed to have disappeared. One week later, I got a phone call from the driver's family saying that he was back. When I saw him he told me the whole story. The police arrested my driver, Gao Jianting, on suspicion that he was involved in taking care of a Falun Gong practitioner, Liu Zhimei, who had suffered a mental collapse after being tortured. -
Ms. Zhang Ping Suffers Heart Attack from Police Brutality
2010-07-25On March 1st, 2010, police went to the home of Zhang Ping's mother and said that they were collecting the rubbish fee. They arrested Ms. Zhang at her home. They subsequently ransacked Ms. Zhang's home, taking two computers and a printer, along with 4000 yuan in cash. Zhang Ping was then taken to the Mudanjiang No. 2 Detention Centre. Later she was sent to Harbin Detox Centre for forced labour for two years. In 2005, Ms. Zhang was also arrested by police for practising Falun Gong. She was restrained in the space behind the back seats, which caused her to have a heart attack due to lack of oxygen, and she had to be taken to the hospital. -
Practitioners Tortured at Yushu City Brainwashing Centre in Jilin Province
2010-07-25The "Legal Education and Training Centre," a brainwashing centre in Yushu City, Jilin Province, is a prison where the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) tortures and brainwashes Falun Gong practitioners until they renounce their belief in Falun Gong. Soft and harsh methods were used in efforts to break the will of the practitioners. First, people from the community and local police station were asked to talk to the practitioners, trying to change their minds in a polite manner, and practitioners were told to follow their suggestions. If practitioners continue to resist, they are threatened and beaten. -
Ms. Zhang Xiufang from Shenyang City Suffers Second Mental Collapse Due to Repeated Persecution
2010-07-25Fifty-five-year-old Ms. Zhang Xiufang's current state is one of crying one moment and laughing the next, and she doesn't recognise previous acquaintances. She has again suffered a mental collapse due to repeated persecution. Family members advised that she was in this condition when she was released from Masanjia Forced Labour Camp in Shenyang, Liaoning Province on July 1st, 2010. She kept repeating that Zhang Huan and Shen Xiaoyu had beaten her while she was there, but when asked about other matters, she became frightened and shook her head or claimed that she couldn't remember anything else. -
Atrocities Committed at the Zhangjiatun Brainwashing Centre in Jiaozhou City, Shandong Province
2010-07-24According to practitioners who have been incarcerated in the Zhangjiatun Brainwashing Centre, Jiaozhou City 610 Office agents hired some local thugs to carry out the abuse in the centre. They severely beat practitioners who refused to write statements to renounce practising Falun Gong. They abused and mistreated male practitioners by pulling out their beard hairs one by one, or freezing them outdoors in the cold weather. They employed a specific torture method to abuse practitioners who remain steadfast in their belief. The persecutors wrapped a long metal furnace hook with newspaper and continuously struck the practitioners in the mouth and teeth so severely that the practitioners' mouths became bloody and their teeth were knocked out one by one. The evildoers shouted, "We will make you suffer until you'd rather be dead than alive!" -
Elderly Ms. Wang Guoying Sentenced to Five Years in Prison in Shaanxi Province
2010-07-24Ms. Wang Guoying, 68, was arrested and jailed several times after the persecution started on July 20th, 1999, because she refused to give up practising Falun Gong and because she continued to adhere to Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance. On April 27th, 2010, while watching her grandson, she was arrested by agents of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) who broke into her house. She was sentenced to five years in prison and taken to Shaanxi Women's Prison. Her life is in peril. -
Ms. Luo Liping Denied Medical Treatment in Chatou Forced Labour Camp in Guangzhou City
2010-07-24On January 21st, 2010, police in Guangzhou City arrested Ms. Luo Liping. Later, she was sentenced to one and a half years of forced labour. By then, Ms. Luo had been detained at the Chatou Forced Labour Camp in Guangzhou City for almost six months. It was reported that Ms. Luo and the Falun Gong practitioners at the labour camp were forced to do "homework." The camp guards gave them many kinds of strange questions. Any practitioner who could not give a satisfactory answer would be punished. Practitioners were forced to sit on stools from 6:30 a.m. to 10 p.m. -
Jilin Province Women's Prison Tortures Practitioners with Death Bed
2010-07-24Jilin Province Women's Prison, also known as Heizuizi Women's Prison of Changchun City, is currently detaining over 260 Falun Gong practitioners, most of whom were sentenced by the authorities within Jilin Province. To try to force practitioners to give up their belief in Falun Gong, the guards subject them to brainwashing and force them to stand or sit in the same posture for extended periods of time. When these methods do not produce any results, guards tie practitioners to a "death bed". They suspend the victim in the air so that she does not touch the bed. In this position, she has to eat, urinate and defecate on the bed. This inhuman torture method is extremely agonizing. -
Ms. Wu Xiulan from Longhua County, Hebei Province Died as a Result of Persecution
2010-07-23Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Wu Xiulan, 76, was arrested on her way to Jiamusi City, Heilongjiang Province in October 2009 and held in an undisclosed location. Her family was contacted by the authorities at the end of December 2009 and told to pick her up at the Longhua County Detention Centre. Ms. Wu showed symptoms of severe illness and suffered from a distended abdomen. She died on February 5th, 2010. -
Ms. Yu Xiaoyan, Wife of Human Rights Attorney Wang Yonghang, Taken to Brainwashing Centre
2010-07-23Ms. Yu Xiaoyan is an associate professor at the Zhongshan Medical Institute in Dalian City, Liaoning Province. In early July, she was arrested at work by police. She was taken to the Luotaishanzhuang Brainwashing Centre in Fushun City, Liaoning Province. Ms. Yu, a Falun Gong practitioner, is the wife of Mr. Wang Yonghang, an attorney who has been sentenced to seven years in prison for defending Falun Gong practitioners. -
The Gross Abuse I Suffered in Masanjia Forced Labour Camp, Liaoning Province
2010-07-23I was detained in Masanjia Labour Camp in September 2007. I was subjected to various kinds of brutal mistreatments. As a result of the torture, my left hand is still numb, and there is still swelling at the base of my fingers. At the beginning of my incarceration, the guards assigned me to work daily with items involving the use of white glue (polyvinyl acetate, or PAVc). PAVc is a toxic substance and can lead to allergy, asthma, or other respiratory problems. Not long after, my blood pressure shot up to 160/100. I had blood in my sputum, had difficulty breathing, and developed other allergic reactions.
