  In October 2000, when we went to Beijing's Tiananmen Square to appeal, a few police thugs came and knocked us down. They took us and other practitioners to the Tiananmen Square police station, and locked us up in iron cages to force us to give them our names and addresses. Then, local police and the village head, forcefully shipped away 3,500 kilogrammes of soybeans that belonged to us and extorted 800 yuan from our parents. In addition, they auctioned off our land for only 1,000 yuan and pocketed the money. The officials and police officers in Longjiang County sentenced us to forced labour camps, leaving our child and our parents without any care.

• Persecution of Practitioners in Shaanxi Province Women's Forced Labour Camp

  In September 2001, practitioners Ms. Zhang Yunxian, 55 years old, Ms. Ma Wenhua, 58, and Ms. He Guilan were detained in the "dark den," in Shaanxi Province Women's Forced Labour Camp. They were handcuffed and tortured for over a month. The three practitioners protested the persecution by holding a hunger strike. As a result, they were placed in solitary confinement. They were tortured physically and mentally for over seven months. The guards often encouraged the criminal inmates to hang the practitioners from the window bars and then kick and beat them.

• Falun Gong Gives My Family a New Life, But the Chinese Communist Party Destroys It

  "My family of four travelled to Beijing together to appeal for Falun Gong and we were arrested. The police brutally beat us with clubs, belts and our own shoes. At the detention centre, I was made to perform hard labour every day. In 2001, the police arrested my son and took him into town. About eight policemen kept hitting my son with their belts. They bared my son's lower body and beat him brutally until he was severely bruised."

• Seeing the Sham Chinese Legal System Through My Own Persecution Experience

  I was taken to the Jiawang District Court for a trial. After the presiding judge announced several legal articles, the public prosecutor used illegal articles to prosecute me. When I started my self-defence and had spoken for only less than five minutes, the presiding judge stood up and threatened me: "Don't talk!" When I strongly defended myself for about three minutes, he again shouted at me and didn't allow me to continue speaking. At this point, I could not even defend myself. Less than one hour had passed since he announced that I had the right to a defence. In the end, they sentenced me to four years in prison.

• Five Falun Gong Practitioners from Shandong Province, Hubei Province and Beijing Die Due to Persecution

  On March 21st, 2003, while Mr. Xu Tongsen was protecting his fellow practitioners, the local police arrested him, ransacked his home and confiscated his Falun Gong books. He was sentenced to 19 months at the Wangcun Forced Labour Camp. While he was there, he was persecuted with the extension of his working hours, sleep deprivation and forced brainwashing, and he was subjected to so much torture that his life was in serious jeopardy. After many requests from his family members he was released from the camp. A few days later his health deteriorated, and he passed away on April 5th, 2005.

• Personal Account of Three Years of Brutal Persecution at the Notorious Masanjia Forced Labour Camp

  On March 2nd, 2003, I was arrested by the local police. I was sentenced to three years in the forced labour camp and was sent to the notorious Masanjia Forced Labour Camp. I was not allowed to sleep for over ten days at the Masanjia Forced Labour Camp. I was forced to stand in the corridor or the toilet. Every day, five or six collaborators besieged me and forcibly tried to brainwash me. Later I was ordered to go inside the room to do slave labour. They besieged me while I was working. I was still not allowed to sleep. Every day the guards swore at me, pushed me, and beat me.

• Mr. Xu Yibao, 43, Dies as a Result of Abuse

  On October 6th, 2006, Falun Dafa practitioner Mr. Xu Yibao, 43, from Hebei Province died as a result of the abuse he received during the persecution. Before he died he recounted his experience: "In July 2002, I was sentenced to five years in prison for no reason. Guards cursed me viciously, threatened me constantly, and tried to force me to do things against my will, such as writing a guarantee statement to renounce Falun Dafa. They encouraged prisoners to beat my hands until they were swollen. One prisoner lifted a wooden bench high, and smashed it down on my lower back. My body was severely damaged through this abuse."

• Elderly Ms. Cheng Linghui from Hunan Province Dies as a Result of Persecution

  69-year-old Ms. Cheng Linghui went to Beijing in January 2001 to appeal for Dafa and she was sentenced to one year of forced labour. To protest her innocence she refused to wear the inmate's uniform so guards hung her from an iron rail, exposing her to the hot sun. She was arrested again in May 2005. Enduring long-term persecution caused Ms. Cheng Linghui tremendous physical and emotional suffering. She died on August 17th, 2006.

• Car Accident or Murder? (Photo)

  At 12:25 a.m. on August 16th, 2006, a car accident took place inside the freight terminal of Changsha South Train Station in Changsha, Hunan Province. It was a horrible scene. The victim's body was crushed from head to toe. The bone of her right leg fractured, penetrating the flesh. The bone and the flesh were separated. There were large puddles of blood at the scene. A baby girl of a few months old was thrown onto a pile of sand. Four of her ribs were fractured. There were wounds all over the baby girl's body. The driver fled the scene. According to the investigators, the driver must have driven over the victim's body repeatedly until she died.

• Mr. Zheng Rongchang from Hebei Province Forced into Xiaobailou Brainwashing Centre

  Early in the morning on August 11th, 2006, Falun Dafa practitioner Mr. Zheng Rongchang was forced from his home and taken to the 610 Office brainwashing centre. He is followed no matter if he is eating, sleeping, and even using the toilet. As soon as he wants to do the exercises, someone will stop him immediately. He is forced to watch videos that slander Falun Gong, or listen to fabricated nonsense in order to force him to write the "four statements" to renounce Falun Dafa. The 610 Office Head said to him, "You were raised by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP), and you are against the CCP. You must be mentally ill, and I want to lock you up in the mental hospital."

• Four Practitioners from Liaoning, Hebei and Sichuan Provinces Are Persecuted to Death

  Mr. Ma Zhenting passed away unjustly on July 10th, 2003. He was only 53 years old. His wife said with grief, "He still weighed 178 pounds before he was abducted and taken to the brainwashing class, and everyone knew that he was healthy. Jiang Zemin murdered my husband." The three members of his family were also persecuted so severely by Jiang's regime that their family broke up, just because they believed in the principles of "Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance" and tried to be good people.

• Ms. Hua Yuli from Tianjin City, 39, Tortured to Death

  In May 2005 Falun Dafa practitioner Ms. Hua Yuli, 39, was arrested by plainclothes police officers, detained at the local detention centres. Her family was not allowed to visit her until the end of January 2006, when she was dying and was released to receive medical treatment. She was very weak as a result of being tortured in the detention centres, and her mind was not clear. Her family sent her to the hospital, where she died on June 9th, 2006.

  On October 22nd, 1999, police and officials took me to the Xiangyang Police Station. Police Chief Yu Jiangcheng dashed in from outside, stomped his feet, and cursed me loudly. • Additional Information Regarding the Persecution Leading to the Death of Practitioner Mr. Li Baifan from Shanghai

  In the First Labour Camp, there was another vicious policeman named Xia. He directed inmates to employ persecution methods including forcing practitioners to run for a long time until they are exhausted, forcing them to sit straight up on the legs of an upside-down bench without moving at all, force-feeding practitioners who were on hunger strikes with water and hot chilli pepper, and forcing the practitioners to hop around like frogs until exhausted. He also forced practitioners to press their heads against the sharp edge of the wall until there was a deep dent on the top of their heads.

• Persecution Cases of Falun Gong Practitioners in Chongqing City

  Dafa practitioner Yao Lihua went to Beijing to speak out for justice at the Appeals Office. She was detained for one month. She was sentenced to one year of forced labour for not writing a guarantee statement to renounce Falun Dafa. After one year in the forced labour camp, because she still refused to write a guarantee statement, they extended her sentence another three months. During her imprisonment in the forced labour camp, they used various methods to torture her. They coerced her daughter into begging her to write a guarantee statement. They instigated her husband to divorce her. Yao Lihua still refused to write a guarantee statement.
