  • Shandong Practitioner Ms. Liu Jing Sentenced to Eight Years in Prison

    Police arrested Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Liu Jing on October 18th, 2011. She was held in Jining Detention Centre. On April 10th, 2012, Jinxiang Town Court had a hearing on her case, but her family was not allowed to attend or hire a lawyer. In the end the court announced that it would have a re-trial due to lack of evidence. On August 23rd, the court secretly sentenced Ms. Liu to eight years. Her family thought she was still in Jining Detention Centre until they received a call from Jinan Women's Forced Labour Camp in September.
  • Falun Gong Practitioners Tortured and Humiliated at Forced Labour Camps in Harbin City

    Ms. Zeng Shuling was arrested on December 31st, 2011, and taken to Qianjin Forced Labour Camp on February 2nd, 2012. She was beaten and shocked with electric batons by division head Geng Shuping. Both her shoulders and hands were severely injured as a result. She couldn't do any hard labour and had difficulty taking care of herself. Having lost the ability to do hard labour, she and another practitioner, Ms. Fang Guilan, were forced to sit on small stools for long periods of time.
  • Beijing International Studies University Employee Abducted

    Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Hu Chuanlin was abducted from his office by local police on September 21st, 2012. Mr. Hu is still detained at the Chaoyang Detention Centre. Mr. Hu had been sent to a forced labour camp for two years in September 2007. He recounts: "I was often deprived of sleep and forced to sit on a small bench (a torture method in which victims are forced to sit still on the edge of a bench with hands and knees together) at the labour camp. Other torture methods I was subjected to included standing still or squatting for long periods of time, holding my head down and doing physical exercises for extended periods of time, electric shocks, all kinds of threats, being monitored by inmates, being verbally abused and cursed at and many other methods of abuse."
  • Ms. Ma Chunling Detained and Tortured

    Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Ma Chunling was arrested on August 29th, 2012, and severely tortured at the Jinjia Street Detention Centre on September 5th. She sustained serious injuries and required several stitches. She has since been transferred to the Yaojia Detention Centre. Police refused to allow her family to visit.
  • Citizens Publicly Speak Out Against the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) at Recent Court Hearings Implicating Falun Gong Practitioners

    Unjust trials of Falun Gong practitioners were held on at least three recent occasions at the Eighth Court of Tangshan City, Fengrun District Court. Members of the public in and around the courthouse expressed their exasperation with the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) and its persecution of Falun Gong. Mr. Yang Guoguang was tried on August 6th, 2012. Dozens of people, including more than 20 of Mr. Yang's family members, lined up that morning to get passes to observe the court proceedings. A gentleman passing by who learned that this was a trial of a Falun Gong practitioner, repeatedly told the three police officers guarding the door, “The Chinese Communist Party is finished!”
  • Ms. Hao Yuzhi, 58, Dies after Abuse by Guards at Hebei Province Women's Forced Labour Camp

    Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Hao Yuzhi died on September 6th, at the Hebei Province Women's Forced Labour Camp, at the age of 58. She was arrested by officers from the Guantao County Police Department on July 16th, 2011. Her home was ransacked and she was sentenced to one and a half years of forced labour. According to sources, guard Wu Lina struck Ms. Hao on her chest with a club in May. Ms. Hao suffered from chest pain afterwards and had bleedings in her lower body. Chief Zang Zhiying brought Ms. Hao to the camp hospital for a checkup, but no medical treatment was given. Zang then forced Ms. Hao to go to the fields and perform hard labour.
  • Mr. Zhang Su Poisoned and Beaten in Brainwashing Centre, Police Threaten to Harvest His Organs

    On May 5th, 2011, Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Zhang Su was taken by police to Hubei Province “Legal and Educational Centre,” which is actually a brainwashing centre. He has been detained and tortured for 173 days. He was beaten and deprived of sleep. Unidentified drugs were put into his food in order to force him to give up practising Falun Gong. Police officer Jiang Lili threatened him, saying, "The Communist Party will kill you like killing an ant. Tomorrow they can execute you and say that you committed suicide. They can send you to the hospital to take your organs out. Several people can be saved using your organs."
  • Mr. Zhang Puhe in Critical Condition; His Family Files Complaint Against Jiamusi Court

    Even though Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Zhang Puhe’s prison term has expired, officials at Jiamusi Prison in Heilongjiang Province are still keeping him incarcerated. Mr. Zhang is now in critical condition. When his family filed a complaint against the authorities at the prison with Xiangyang District Court in Jiamusi City, the head judge, Yang Guochen, refused to accept the case. Mr. Zhang’s family then filed a complaint against Yang for his inaction.
  • Ms. Sun Fengjie Emaciated as a Result of Persecution in Heilongjiang Women's Prison

    As a result of Heilongjiang Women's Prison new round of torture of Falun Gong practitioners, Ms. Sun Fengjie from Shuangyashan has lost 20 kilograms (over 40 pounds) within a month and is now unrecognizable. Ms. Sun has now been detained in Heilongjiang Women's Prison for 10 years and has suffered inhuman torture. Ms. Sun's husband finally got to see her. He could not hold back his tears once he saw his wife. He could hardly recognize her. She looked like a skeleton and could barely walk or stand. Her hair was very long and half of it had turned grey. Her ribs could be seen clearly, and she had completely lost the spirit that she used to have during past visits.
  • The “Transformation Group” and Brainwashing Centre at Hunan Women's Prison

    When a practitioner is sent to the brainwashing centre, the perpetrators begin by asking the practitioner whether she is willing to participate in the so-called "education" (brainwashing). If she refuses, they will put handcuffs on her until she agrees to "learn." The "education" involves watching videos that slander Falun Gong. They play these films continuously. If that is not enough to force practitioners to renounce Falun Gong, more abuse, such as forcing practitioners to stand for twelve to twenty-three consecutive hours, occurs. Practitioners are sometimes allowed to sleep for only one or two hours a day. Abuse such as sleep deprivation is not entered into the duty records. There are other forms of abuse and humiliation, such as not allowing practitioners to use the toilet.
  • Mr. Cao Dong is Detained in Xinan Forced Labour Camp; His Lawyer Continues to Demand an Administrative Reconsideration

    Mr. Cao Dong, a Falun Gong practitioner who graduated from the Foreign Studies University of Beijing, was again arrested and sent to a forced labour camp on June 8th, 2012 after being released from jail less than one year ago. His family and friends hired a lawyer to defend him, but were repeatedly interfered with by Chinese communist authorities. Six years ago, Mr. Cao met with the Vice Chairman of the European Parliament, Mr. McMillan-Scott, and described to him the cruel persecution that he, his wife, and other practitioners had suffered. Shortly after that, he was arrested by the communist authorities and sentenced to five years in jail.
  • Falun Gong Practitioners in Chenzhou City, Hunan Province Injected with Unknown Drugs

    Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Li Jiaju, 58, was arrested and sent to the brainwashing centre in May 2011, by police. Ms. Li protested the persecution by immediately going on a hunger strike. Two weeks later, personnel from the brainwashing centre injected her with an unknown drug and released her. When she got home, her health deteriorated. In September she began to bleed from the lower part of her body. The bleeding occurred a few times a month. After the 2012 New Year, it became more serious and she started passing blood clots. The bleeding occurred more and more frequently. She soon became completely bedridden and died on April 16th, 2012. The cause appears to be a slow-acting, lethal injection.
  • Sixty-Five-Year-Old Ms. Jiang Suzhen from Suzhou City Detained

    Police from Suzhou City broke into 65-year-old Ms. Jiang Suzhen's home on the morning of August 30th, 2012. She was taken into custody because she had put up posters bearing the messages, “Falun Gong is good” and “Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance is good.” After Ms. Jiang began to practise Falun Gong, all of her illnesses have disappeared. She was grateful to Falun Gong and told others about the benefits of the practice. Her actions are out of her kindness, and a wish to share such a good practice with others.
  • Falun Gong Practitioner Zhao Xianghai from Xiangtan City Wrongly Detained in a Psychiatric Hospital, His Mother Calls for Help

    Mr. Zhao Xianghai was a crane driver. However, because he practises Falun Gong, he was held and tormented in a psychiatric hospital by the Xiangtan 610 Office (an organisation of special agents just for persecuting Falun Gong) and officials from his workplace for five years. When he was picked up he was very healthy, but now he has become extremely feeble. When his elderly mother went to the hospital to visit him, she was attacked by the hospital staff, who also searched her. Mr. Zhao's mother, her plea below, is seeking help from the international community.
  • Older Falun Gong Practitioner Mr. Li Jiankui Falls into a Coma after Police Beating

    Mr. Li Jiankui, a Falun Gong practitioner over 60, was arrested by police from the National Security Team on June 8th, 2012. After being brutally tortured by the police and guards at the detention centre, he suffered a brain haemorrhage and went into a coma. Mr. Li did not fully recover after being given emergency treatment at the hospital. His perception and awareness were only partially restored. The police involved denied that they were the perpetrators of any violence.
