  • Arrested 13 Times, Mr. Jiang Guobo Now in Critical Condition

    Mr. Jiang Guobo was arrested at his temporary place of work on the morning of February 27th, 2009. Police officers covered his head with a black bag and manhandled him into the police car. He has been held at the Changle Detention Centre ever since. During the months since his most recent detention, Mr. Jiang has been subjected to inhuman tortures without letup. During the cold winter nights, he was forced to stand outside all night long wearing only thin clothes until he lost consciousness due to hypothermia. He has been chained to the "death bed" with both feet and hands shackled until he vomited blood and his life was in grave danger.
  • Mr. Lu Xinliang from Weifang Given a Nine-Year Prison Sentence, His Wife Brutally Beaten

    Judge Han Shilin of the Weicheng District Court in Weifang City, Shandong Province sentenced Mr. Lu Xinliang to nine years in prison after a closed door trial on October 19th, 2009. Mr. Lu had been held at the Weifang Detention Centre for 15 months before the trial. Police officer Zhang Lei from the Weifang Railway Station kicked and punched Mr. Lu's wife when she went to the police station to ask for her husband's release.
  • Ms. Gao Yuxiang Arrested Again; Her Distraught Mother Dies

    Ms. Gao Yuxiang was subjected to two years of forced labour. After she was released, in order to avoid further harassment from the police, she left her hometown for years. On October 28th, 2009, she was again arrested by the police. Ms. Gao had been on a hunger strike at the Nanshan Detention Centre for over 19 days. She suffered from brutal force-feedings and one of her arms was injured due to being beaten. Currently, she is very weak. Her 76-year-old mother, who lived with her, was threatened by police officers and witnessed her daughter's arrest. She fell sick and passed away on November 8th, 2009.
  • Mr. Wu Tonglin Sent to Jiutai Yinmahe Forced Labour Camp in Jilin Province Four Times

    Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Wu Tonglin, 54, was arrested and taken to Jiutai Yinmahe Forced Labour Camp in March 2009. He has been on a hunger strike for four months and is now very weak. It is the fifth time that he has been incarcerated in a forced labour camp, and the fourth time to be detained in Jiutai Yinmahe Forced Labour Camp.
  • Li Guihua from Jiujiang City Persecuted Again for Her Beliefs

    On November 29th, 2009, Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Li Guihua was arrested by police. The 60-year-old lady was exposing the truth about the persecution of Falun Gong in front of the First Middle School of Jiujiang City. At around 5 p.m., a gang of policemen broke in and ransacked her house. Among the officers was a young, but fierce, officer who was physically rough with Ms. Li's husband. Ms. Li Guihua has been arrested, imprisoned and sentenced to imprisonment in labour camps several times where she has suffered brutal persecution.
  • Ms. Jiang Nan Abused in Mental Hospital in Sichuan Province

    Ms. Jiang Nan was arrested on August 7th, 2009, while she was distributing materials about Falun Gong and exposing the persecution. She was taken to the Deyang City Mental Health Centre, where she was forced to take large doses of unknown drugs for almost four months. In 2008, her husband divorced Ms. Jiang after discovering that she had spoken out for justice for Falun Gong to a fellow teacher. She suffered an emotional breakdown and was suspended from her job and was told to stay home and have her illness treated.
  • Teachers and Students Show Their Support for the Imprisoned Ms. Jiang Xibo

    Officers from the Jiansanjiang Qianjin Farm Police Station arrested Ms. Jiang Xibo, a teacher and Falun Gong practitioner, on September 10th, 2009. Many teachers and students at the high school where Ms. Jiang worked signed petitions calling for her release, indicating that, due to Ms. Jiang's practice of Falun Gong, she had changed significantly for the better. Ms. Jiang was taken to the Jiansanjiang Detention Centre. She was beaten severely on September 16th, and was handcuffed and fettered. Her situation looked very bleak. On November 2nd, her file was sent to the Jiansanjiang Prosecutor's Office. This is her third arrest to date. It is expected that she will be sentenced in the Qianjin Farm Court.
  • Mr. Pang Detained Another Four Months after Eight Years of Detention

    Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Pang You is still detained at the Beijing No.1 Detention Centre. On December 3rd, his term of detention was four months. Mr. Pang's family has not received any pertinent legal documentation, which prevents them from hiring an attorney. An attorney can't file a court case without the relevant documentation. Mr. Peng has been detained for a second time after having been imprisoned for eight years in the past. In prison, Mr. Peng was put in handcuffs and foot shackles, which were linked together. He was deprived of sleep for many days. In order to protest, he went on a hunger strike. The guards force-fed him after chaining him to a metal sheet and shocked his legs with electric batons.
  • Mr. Lin Zehua Paralysed, Still Detained in Jiamusi City Prison

    Mr. Lin Zehua was sentenced to one year of forced labour in 2001 for his belief in Falun Gong. In September 2002, he was sentenced to three years of forced labour but was released on bail after three months in a detention centre. In February 2004, Mr. Lin was sentenced to three years of forced labour in Anshan City, Liaoning Province. On September 12th, 2007, Lin Zehua was arrested by police. During the arrest, the agents hit and kicked him in the head. Mr. Lin was taken to the Youyi Detention Centre, where he was detained for almost seven months. During that time, police took him to Youyi County Hospital to be force-fed. Presently, Mr. Lin has completely lost the ability of take care of himself.
  • Medical Employee Wang Fangfu from Beijing Sentenced to Forced Labour in Liaoning Province

    On September 15th, 2009, police went to the home of Wang Fangfu, a Falun Gong practitioner from Beijing, and arrested him under the pretence of security for October 1st, the National Day. He was sentenced to two years of forced labour. In November he was transferred to the Chaoyang City Forced Labour Camp in Liaoning Province. While detained in Beijing, he remained determined in his belief. He was severely persecuted and has become disfigured from the physical torture. Previously, in 2002, police arrested Mr. Wang and persecuted him continuously for four months. The torture methods they used included cuffing his hands behind his back and then hanging his body by the handcuffs; pressuring his body with a pole pressed hard at both ends by two men; beatings about the face; shocks with electric batons.
  • Mr. Lv Zhenjiang Seriously Wounded in Mudanjiang Prison

    On about November 25th, 2009, Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Lv Zhenjiang was not allowed to go to sleep and was brutally beaten by four inmates incarcerated with him in the Mudanjiang City Prison. Mr. Lv's head was seriously injured and he had to be sent to the First Hospital in Mudanjiang City for treatment to a long cut. In June 2009, officials from Mudanjiang Prison started a new round of persecution of practitioners. The guards and the inmates, instigated by prison officials, cruelly beat and tortured practitioners mentally and physically.
  • Dong Zhikun and Geng Shuhua from Yunnan Forestry College Secretly Sentenced to Prison

    On November 25th, 2009, relatives of Falun Gong practitioners Mr. Dong Zhikuan and Ms. Geng Shuhua went to the Kunming Intermediate Court to demand information about their family members. Both practitioners have been detained in Panlong No. 1 Detention Centre since March 1st, 2009. Their families have not been allowed to visit them. Kunming Intermediate officers held secret hearings in September, 2009, to sentence Dong Zhikun and Geng Shuhua to prison. Their families received no prior notice of the hearings. Mr. Dong was sentenced to three years in the No. 1 Prison of Yunnan Province. Ms. Geng was sentenced to one-and-a-half years in the Longpan No. 1 Detention Centre.
  • Recent Atrocities at Beijing Women's Forced Labour Camp

    Ms. Xu Yanli is about 40 years old. She is a college English teacher with one son and one daughter. Her husband is also a Falun Gong practitioner who has been arrested and imprisoned. Ms. Xue was first sent to the forced labour camp in April 2008 and her children are being cared for by her father. In attempts to force her to renounce her firm faith, she has been tortured badly. Her left hand was burned and she lost the functioning of her thumb. The police in the forced labour camp did not let her sleep, did not let her have enough food, did not let her shower, and did not let her go to the toilet normally. She is still firm in her faith despite all of these tortures. Now she is monitored by prisoners who were arrested for drug abuse. She is not allowed to get in touch with anyone she knows.
  • Further Information on the Abuse that Led to Mr. Nian Shaotang's Death

    In 2000, 81-year-old Mr. Nian Shaotang was detained at the No. 2 Detention Centre for 56 days, which resulted in his becoming almost paralysed and developing prostatitis, a decline in the function of his kidneys, urine incontinence, and other serious physical problems. Mr. Nian never recovered from that brutal mistreatment. He passed away on July 1st, 2005. At that time, his son Nian Jingsheng was detained in the Sanshui Forced Labour Camp in Guangdong Province. His wife had no income to survive on, and died miserably ten months later.
  • Husband Died as a Result of the Persecution, Ms. Li Lanying Arrested in Heilongjiang Province

    In 2002, the police stormed into Ms. Li's home, arrested Ms. Li's husband, Gao Guang'en and he was detained for several months in the Shuangcheng City Second Detention Centre. Mr. Gao endured numerous tortures in the detention centre. He was then taken to the Changlinzi Men's Labour Camp to serve a one-year term. He was tortured until he passed out and fell to the ground. On January 5th, 2006, Mr. Gao, who was not fully recovered, collapsed while at work and died. On September 9th, 2009, while Ms. Li was posting putting up posters exposing the persecution of Falun Gong she was reported arrested by police. Ms. Li was detained in the Yaziquan Detention Centre in Harbin City.
