  • Ms. Qiu Yuxia Shackled to Ground Rings and Tortured During Incarceration

    Ms. Qiu Yuxia was arrested on July 2nd, 2008 and incarcerated for three years. During the incarceration, she was forced to do hard labour, was shackled to ground rings and handcuffed to a bed for two weeks. She recounts: "Deputy director Yu led several guards and shackled me to ground rings with all four limbs stretched out. They then forcibly gave me injections and force fed me with drugs, despite my resistance. My blood pressure was getting higher and I was in a critical condition." Ms. Qiu was released on July 1st, 2011.
  • Falun Gong Practitioner Ms. Yu Zhenjie, 54, from Inner Mongolia Died as a Result of Persecution

    Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Yu Zhenjie was persecuted by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) numerous times. As a result, she died on September 7th. Ms. Yu refused to give up her belief in Falun Gong. She was arrested and sentenced twice and spent a total of seven years in the Zhalantun Detention Centre and Hohhot Woman's Prison. In prison she was brutally tortured until she was in critical condition and diagnosed with cervical cancer and Hepatitis C. In order to free themselves from responsibility, the prison authorities released her to seek medical care. After she was released, the police from National Security Team from Zhalantun still harassed her at home, and her condition worsened. She passed away in great mental and physical agony.
  • Ms. Han Binying Severely Abused in Qianjin Forced Labour Camp in Harbin City

    Ms. Han Binying from Harbin City was arrested and taken to the Qianjin Forced Labour Camp in April 2010. The guards shocked her with electric batons and otherwise abused her. She also had more than 30,000 yuan extorted from her before she was released in April 2011. She recounts her experience: "I was reported to the police on March 21st, 2010, as I distributed information about Falun Gong. I was taken to Qianjin Forced Labour Camp in Harbin City. Division head Wang Min and political head Zhang Aihui tried to force me to write the three statements to give up my belief [in Falun Gong]. I refused to comply, so they tortured me. As a result, my legs were covered in bruises. They also shocked me with electric batons."
  • Persecution Account of Nanning 61-Year-Old Practitioner Ms. He Lingling

    Practitioner Ms. He Lingling was arrested by police on August 6th, and her home was also ransacked. Here is an account of the persecution that she has suffered over the years: "Since the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) started persecuting Falun Gong, I've been arrested repeatedly, detained and sentenced to prison. I was brutally tortured in prison and forced labour camp with a variety of methods, including my hands and feet being shackled with heavy metal chains weighing almost 84 pounds at the No.2 Detention Centre; being beaten for five days by drug-addicted inmates under orders of the labour camp guards. I was also hung up for three nights, and tied to a tree twice."
  • Ms. Hu Shenhua from Yi County, Hebei Imprisoned for Over Eight Years

    During the Communist regime's 12-year persecution of Falun Gong, Ms. Hu Shenhua spent eight and a half years in prison, where she experienced brutal torture. She recounts her experience in detention: "Guard Ji tried to force me to say slanderous words about Falun Gong but I refused. He then hit me in the chest and stuffed my mouth with lit cigarettes. As a result, the inside of my mouth was burned and covered with many blisters. After several consecutive days of being tortured and interrogated this way, I was unable to stand, eat or drink.”
  • Firsthand Account: Ms. Peng Xiumin from Qinhuangdao City Beaten and Subjected to Forced Labour

    On July 21st, 2010, a fellow practitioner and I explained the facts [about Falun Gong] to workers at a construction site. Police arrested us. We were interrogated and searched. During the detention, several guards held me down on the bed. They held my head, pinched my legs, and struck my hands. One guard pinched my nose shut with his fingers. They forced my mouth open to pour in unknown drugs. My legs and arms were still black-and-blue 10 days later. Later, I was also forced to do slave labour for 15 and a half hours each day.
  • I Have Suffered Brutal Torture in Zhaoyuan City, Shandong Province

    On October 1st, 2001, I went to Wenhua Square in Changchun City to display a banner exposing the persecution. I was arrested and driven for two hours to an unknown place. Police stripped my clothes off. They pushed me onto the tiger bench and tied my hands on both sides of a bar behind me. They put a metal bar on my chest, one on my thighs and one on my shins. The sides of each bar were fixed onto the bench. My feet were locked with metal hoops, which were fixed and tied onto the bench. Three officers came into the room with electric batons. Two of them grabbed my arms, which were tied behind my back, and forced them over my head. I heard my bones cracking again and again as they broke. The pain was unbearable as they thrust my arms back and forth many times, and I lost consciousness.
  • Jiasmusi Practitioner Wang Shuqin's Own Account of Her Persecution

    For refusing to give up her practice of Falun Gong, Ms. Wang Shuqin and her family have been regularly harassed by Chinese Communist Party (CCP) henchmen. In order to expose the lies behind the persecution and give people an opportunity to understand the beauty of Falun Gong and the brutality of the persecution, Ms. Wang often travelled to distribute materials that explained the facts about Falun Gong. As a result, she has been detained and even imprisoned in a forced labour camp. She recounts: "Jiamusi Forced Labour Camp is a living hell. Refusing to give up my belief in Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance, I suffered immensely both physically and psychologically. I felt that I was in pain and being tortured every second."
  • Firsthand Account: Wang Ping from Laizhou City, Shandong Province, Brutally Beaten and Tortured

    Ms. Wang Ping began to practise Falun Gong in 1996. In 2006, she was arrested by Chinese Communist Party (CCP) police officers and brutally beaten. After that she was sent to Wang Village Forced Labour Camp. She recounts: "Each day I had to work over a dozen hours on intensive slave labour. Even women in their 70s had to work every day. If they could not finish their work, they had to work extra hours. Some of them could only sleep 2-3 hours a night. Even a physically strong person could not endure that."
  • A Falun Gong Practitioner’s Personal Account of Being Tortured for Six Days by Helong City Police in Jilin Province

    Agents from the Helong City Domestic Security Division in the Yanbian Autonomous Region of Jilin Province arrested several local Falun Gong practitioners on May 26th, 2011. They then tortured and interrogated them. One of the practitioners who was considered a primary target was brutalised for six days non-stop. He recounts: "Police officer Gao Zhenhua shackled my feet and hung me upside down against a wall. During the interrogation, he kicked me at will."
  • Older Falun Gong Practitioner Mr. Wang Nuanrong from Tonghua County, Jilin Province, Arrested Again

    On July 17th, Falun Gong practitioners Mr. Wang Nuanrong and Mr. Wang Peichen were arrested by police. Their home was ransacked. Mr. Wang Nuanrong is Mr. Wang Peichen's father. After they were arrested, a relative of Wang Peichen's went to the police department to see him, but the guards turned her away. The police threatened her, saying that Mr. Wang Peichen would be sentenced and Mr. Wang Nuanrong would be held in a forced labour camp.
  • Ms. Fu Meilin From Yichun City, Heilongjiang Province Tortured

    Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Fu Meilin was arrested by police while walking on a street on May 26th, because she carried Falun Gong leaflets exposing the persecution. She was taken to the Hongsheng Police Station in Yichun. The officers slapped her face, put her on a Tiger Bench and violently stretched her fingers. She was later transferred to the Wumahe Detention Centre where she began a hunger strike to protest the persecution. Two weeks later, she was taken to the Harbin Drug Rehabilitation Forced Labour Camp. The camp authorities refused to admit her because she could not pass the physical.
  • Ms. Cao Yingchun Imprisoned and Tortured after Recovering from Myasthenia Gravis

    Ms. Cao Yingchun used to suffer from a neuromuscular disorder called Myasthenia Gravis 13 years ago. Feeling hopeless and in despair, she came across Falun Gong and obtained a new lease on life. However, over the course of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) persecution of Falun Gong that began on July 20th, 1999, Ms. Cao endured inhuman tortures. In 2002, she was arrested and held in the police station. She recounts: "Two people put me on an iron chair, shackled my ankles, put an iron rod in front of my abdomen and then cuffed my hands behind the chair. The individual holding the shackles on my feet pulled on them very hard, while bricks were being put underneath my arms. When I fainted from the pain, they poured cold water on my face."
  • Ms. Wang Zhiying, 56, from Weihai, Shandong Homeless for More Than a Decade Due to Persecution

    Wang Zhiying has been homeless for more than 10 years to avoid being arrested for upholding her belief in Falun Gong. She has suffered both mentally and physically from the persecution. Below is her account of what happened. She recounts: "In 2001, because I refused to give up my faith, my husband Song Jiangong and I were forced to leave our home. Only our daughter, who was in high school, remained at home. We rented a room in another place, but police from the local 610 Office (an organisation of special agents just for persecuting Falun Gong) found us and broke in. A policeman grabbed me by the hair and handcuffed me from behind. Two policemen stepped on or knelt on my lower back and legs. I could not breathe and fainted. I was taken to the detention centre."
  • Ms. Li Yushu Tortured Daily in Heilongjiang Women's Prison

    Ms. Li Yushu, a 62-year-old practitioner from Mohe City, Heilongjiang Province, was sentenced to a 12-year prison term without due process in May 2002. She has suffered more than nine years of persecution in Heilongjiang Women's Prison. She was held in a small cell once and in an isolation cell six times. She has been resisting the persecution by hunger strike for almost seven years. She is emaciated now and suffers daily torture. Ms. Li recounted the torture she has suffered recently: "Guards kicked me, beat me and stomped on my body. They taped my mouth shut with duct tape and twisted my arms behind my back. They also cut off my shirt and trousers with scissors."
