Young Man Partially Paralysed Due to Mistreatment in Police Custody in Nanjing City, Jiangsu Province, is Sentenced to 3 Years in Prison

Mr. Chen Gang, a thirty six year old Falun Gong practitioner from Nanjing City, Jiangsu Province was arrested by the authorities of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) including police, court and procuratorate. During his detention, because of his practice of Falun Gong, he was mistreated to such an extent that his appearance was that of a man in his fifties. On July 10th, 2009, the corrupt court sentenced him to three years in prison. -
Reunited in the Free World after Suffering Ten Years of Persecution
2009-08-10On June 22nd, the flight from Beijing to Frankfurt was delayed for two hours. For Guo Jufeng, who had waited for 17 months, two more hours of waiting were not the end of the world. Guo is an engineer. He was tortured in China for practising Falun Gong. He came to Germany 17 months ago and was granted refugee status in Germany. That day he was waiting for his wife, Ms. Yu Hailing, a medical doctor, and his son, Guo Fangzhou, whom he had never met. After most of the passengers on the Beijing flight had disembarked, Guo finally saw his wife and their son. She was holding him in one hand and the baggage in the other. Tears ran down his face. As he reached for his son, the boy dodged, for Guo was a complete stranger to him. -
The Torture that Mr. Liao Nuli Experienced at Sihui Prison in Guangdong Province
2009-08-10On January 5th, 2004, Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Liao Nuli was sentenced to ten years by the Futian District Court in Shenzhen City. Mr. Liao was taken to Sihui Prison in Guangdong Province where he was subjected to brutal torture. In 2006, guard Zhong Shaobin ordered inmate Wang Guihai to beat Mr. Liao. After beating Mr. Liao unconscious, the prison's doctor diagnosed Mr. Liao as not in critical condition. Subsequently, guard Zhong again threatened Mr. Liao, telling him not to create any trouble or else the next time he would not be treated so lightly. Mr. Liao found the handling of this incident unacceptable and wrote a letter of appeal to the prison. The secretary and chief of the Seventh Division physically tortured Mr. Liao, increased the intensity of his labour, and punished him at night using methods such as running or military training. This type of physical torture lasted from 2004 to 2009. -
Chengdu City Engineer Ms. Guo Lirong Arrested a Second Time
2009-08-10Forty-five year-old practitioner Ms. Guo Lirong from Chengdu City in Sichuan Province is a former electrical engineer, having been fired simply because she practised Falun Gong. On the afternoon of July 18th, 2009, Ms. Guo was arrested a second time, while working in the Junxuwan Restaurant in Chengdu City. At approximately 4:30 p.m., police ransacked her home, and confiscated CDs, a computer and other family belongings. -
After Inhuman Torture, Ms. Guan Yujing, a Judge from Fuzhou City, Is Once Again Arrested
2009-08-10On June 23rd, 2009, Ms. Guan Yujing was taken away from her home. She is currently being detained at the No. 1 Detention Centre in Fuzhou City. Because she has refused to give up Falun Gong in the face of persecution, Guan Yujing had been sent to a mental hospital twice and was once sentenced to a year of forced labour. On January 14th, 2004, she was arrested while she was at work, and was sentenced to four years in prison. Ms. Guan used to have a happy family, but after her sentencing in 2004, her husband divorced her. Her family has also suffered a lot during these past years of persecution. -
Mr. Lu Zhaoxin, 59, Dies after Three Forced Labour Terms in Liaoning Province
2009-08-09Mr. Lu Zhaoxin, 59, was arrested and police forcibly took him to the Luotaishanzhuang Brainwashing Centre and later to the Wujiabao Forced Labour Camp in 2006. The last time he was arrested was on September 24th, 2007, when police found him carrying Falun Gong leaflets exposing the persecution on a bus and arrested him and was subsequently sent to the Wujiabao Forced Labour Camp. He was released in the spring of 2008. Due to being tortured severely in the labour camp, he became extremely weak and emaciated, lost his ability to work, and developed diabetes. He died on June 24th, 2009. -
Ms. Wei Xiuying, 62, from Linhai City, Liaoning Province, In Danger of Losing Her Life Due to Persecution
2009-08-09Ms. Wei Xiuying is 62 years old. On April 17th, 2009, many police cars surrounded Ms. Wei's house. She was detained in the Linhai Detention Centre and brutally persecuted. They poured hot water over her head, kicked her in the chest, and hit her right ear with a filled water bottle. She has now lost hearing in that ear. She could not walk, her heart failed, and she had convulsions and high blood pressure. She spit out whatever she ate and was so emaciated that only skin and bones were left. Her life was in great danger. -
Mr. Kong Xiangzhu Subjected to Torture at Mudanjiang Prison Before His Death
2009-08-09Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Kong Xiangzhu, 39, was tortured to the brink of death at Mudanjiang Prison. He was forced to sit on burning concrete. Guards said, "You can meditate right? We'll let you meditate this time." Guards sprinkled plastic bags with mustard powder and then covered Mr. Kong's head with the bag. Mr. Kong's face turned purple from the lack of oxygen. He choked on the powder with tears and nasal discharge streaming down his face at the same time. Mr. Kong was in such pain that his entire body became distorted. Mr. Kong was only released after the prison extorted 5,000 yuan from his family. On April 18th, 2007, family members carried Mr. Kong home from the prison, only to see him pass away two months later. -
610 Office Abducts Retired Professor
2009-08-09On June 23rd, 2009, members of the "610 Office," and police broke into 73-year-old Ms. Tang Xuzhen's home and arrested her. Ms. Tang is a retired associate professor from Luzhou Medical Institute. Ten years ago, she was diagnosed with nose and throat cancer, but practising Falun Gong cured her. Because she shared her positive experience of Falun Gong with people and told about the persecution of practitioners, she was arrested and detained seven times by the Luzhou City 610 Office. She was detained for two years and sent to a forced labour camp for three years. -
Ms. Zhang Xinyi from Changsha City on Hunger Strike to Protest Third Arrest
2009-08-08On July 11th, 2009, the police arrested Ms. Zhang Xinyi and interrogated her. Currently, she is detained in a detention centre. Ms. Zhang has been on hunger strike for three days to protest the persecution. This is her third arrest for practising Falun Gong. In 2002, when Ms. Zhang and her husband were teaching in Cambodia the police arrested them, despite the fact that they showed them their certificates as UN protected refugees and they were deported back to China. Right after they arrived in China, they were detained at a detention centre. -
The Persecution of Liu Chengjun
2009-08-08On March 5th, 2002, a programme about the true story of Falun Gong was successfully broadcast over the cable television network in Changchun and Songyuan. The Chinese Communist Party (CCP)became enraged at this and began to arrest and persecute Falun Gong practitioners on a large scale. Liu Chengjun was one of those practitioners arrested. The police tortured him by putting him on a "tiger bench". They damaged his peritoneum, resulting in his suffering from a strangulated hernia. They tied him on a torture bed for more than fifty days. In October 2002, Liu Chengjun was sentenced to nineteen years in jail. He was later tortured to death. -
A Female Farmer in Hunan Province Brutally Persecuted and Sentenced
2009-08-08Ms. Xiaoping Xin, a practitioner from Hunan Province, is imprisoned in the detention centre in Linli. Her current condition is not very optimistic: she is pale, losing weight, has cold hands and feet despite a hot summer, is so skinny that bones are visible, and has swollen ankles and a dark instep. On April 15th members of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) sentenced her to three years in prison. Her family is now preparing to appeal and request her release with a verdict of not guilty. -
My Personal Experience with a Media Farce
2009-08-08The Chinese Communist Party (CCP) began its persecution of Falun Gong on July 20th, 1999. I went to the Beijing to appeal for justice and was arrested. I had to read lie-filled literature. Guards kept me from sleeping. The constant threats and brainwashing confused me, and I wrote a guarantee statement to give up Falun Gong. An official told me to talk to the media to restore my work unit's reputation. Thinking that I could explain the facts about Falun Gong to the journalists, I agreed. I told them truthfully that I became a good person because I practise Falun Gong. An article published in Modern Scientific Living lied and said how the regime had "reformed" me. It also said that I "attacked" Falun Gong. -
Additional Information on the Detention of Wang Yonghang, a Lawyer in Dalian Who Defended Falun Gong Practitioners
2009-08-07Lawyer Wang Yonghang in Dalian City defended Falun Gong practitioners who were persecuted by the Chinese Communist Party. As a result, police broke into his home on July 4th, 2009 and arrested him and his wife. His wife and elderly mother were also physically assaulted. Wang Yonghang and his wife were both taken to a detention centre. Their family members went to the police station to ask for the couple's release, but the police refused to reveal where they were. In addition, wherever the family went, policemen in plain clothes would beat them. -
Older Practitioner Ms. Lai Zuhua Recounts the Persecution She Experienced in Chengdu City
2009-08-07My name is Lai Zuhua and I am 64 years old. I live in Chengdu City. On May 14th, 2004, I took leaflets exposing the persecution of Falun Gong and went to Yulong Street to distribute them. When I had just handed out two flyers, I was captured by police and taken to the nearby Xiyuhe Police Station. From 10:00 p.m. on May 14th to 6:00 a.m. on May 16th, the police did not allow me to go to sleep. They shone three 200-watt electric light bulbs on me and put me in handcuffs. These policemen kept interrogating me about the source of my materials. Later I was taken to a detention centre.
