  • Shanghai Engineer Sentenced Again, Prison Denies Family Visits

    Mr. Zhang Qin, 54, was arrested for the sixth time for practising Falun Gong in June 2009, and sentenced to five years in prison by a Xuhui Court in March 2010. This action represents the second unjust sentence he has received. He was taken secretly to Tilanqiao Prison in Shanghai. The prison has not allowed Mr. Zhang's parents to visit him since last November. Previously, in detention guards mercilessly beat Mr. Zhang. He was forced to stand facing a wall continuously for six days and nights at the Xuhui District Detention Centre.
  • Neighbours and Friends Outraged When a Salon Owner Is Sentenced to Forced Labour

    Wang Weichuang, the owner of Quanmei Salon located in Songhuajing in the Huanggu District of Shenyang City, was arrested on April 21st, by the Lingdong Police Station of Huanggu District Public Security Subdivision. The deputy director of the station, Liu Haitao, trumped up charges against Mr. Wang and had him sentenced to forced labour for one year and three months just because Mr. Wang is a Falun Gong practitioner. Lingdong Police Station committed this crime in the pursuit of benefits and bonuses. During the arrest, there were many bystanders, and his neighbours and friends were outraged by what they saw.
  • Elderly Practitioner Li Yuzhen’s Family Hires a Lawyer, 610 Office Retaliates with Threat of Heavy Sentence

    Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Li Yuzhen, 68, was arrested in March 2011, then the local public security office, procuratorial office, and the courts conspired to send Mr. Li to prison. Mr. Li’s family hired a lawyer to defend him, but the 610 Office (an organisation of special agents just for persecuting Falun Gong) created obstacles in every possible way for the family and the lawyer. The head of the 610 Office even threatened, “Li will get a heavy sentence if the family hires a lawyer to defend him.”
  • Mr. Huang Wei from Huazhou City, Guangdong Province Dies as a Result of Torture

    Mr. Huang Wei refused to renounce Falun Gong, and so he was repeatedly arrested and detained, and sentenced to forced labour three times. In Sanshui Forced Labour Camp he was brutally persecuted. He went on hunger strike to protest the beatings. Guards shocked Mr. Huang electric batons and force-fed him. On April 17th, when Mr. Huang was released from the labour camp, he was emaciated and had a mental disorder. He passed away 12 days later at the age of 44.
  • Crimes Committed by Chinese Communist Party Officials in Hubei Province “Legal Education Centre”

    The following are some of the torture methods used in Hubei Province “Legal Education Centre”, a brainwashing centre: standing for long times, handcuffing and hanging up, shocking with electric batons, hitting against the wall, violent beatings, and more. Police officers or a gang of thugs violently beat practitioners there every day. The most commonly used tactics are: grabbing a practitioner's hair while slapping him or her in the face; hitting them on the head; hitting the person against the wall and choking him or her; kicking the feet, treading on the feet; slapping the person's mouth with a broom; and beatings with various implements.
  • Tortures that Older Falun Gong Practitioner Ms. Sheng Lianying Was Subjected to at the Masanjia Forced Labour Camp

    Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Sheng Lianying, 56, was detained numerous times since the Communist regime began to persecute Falun Gong. She was detained twice at the Masanjia Labour Camp. She was tortured in many ways including force-feeding with suffocation, forcibly given nerve-damaging drugs, Death Bed, “Big hang-up”, force-feeding with hot pepper or mustard powder, force-feeding dirty water, mouth stuffed with faeces, shocking with electric batons and more. As a result of the torture, she is physically weak with atrophied legs and deformed teeth.
  • Recent Incidents in the Brainwashing Centres of Yanbian Korean Autonomous Prefecture, Jilin Province

    Since May 26th, officials from the communist regime have arrested a number of Falun Gong practitioners in the Yanbian Korean Autonomous Prefecture, including the cities of Yanji, Helong, Dunhua, Tumen and Wangqing County. Many practitioners were taken to brainwashing centres and tortured. Ms. Jin Lianhua, who was tortured to the brink of death, returned home for treatment and rehabilitation upon her family’s urgent request. On January 29th, 2010, officials broke into Ms. Yin Fengqin’s home and planned to take her in for brainwashing. While resisting arrest, Ms. Yin fell from her balcony on the fifth floor and died.
  • Ms. Liu Honghua from Zhucheng City in Shandong Province Died as a Result of Persecution

    When the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) launched the brutal persecution of Falun Gong in July 1999, Ms. Liu went to appeal to the higher authorities in Weifang City and Beijing. As a result, her wages were reduced and she was often detained in her workplace. In March 2009, police broke into Ms. Liu's home. They pushed Ms. Liu's son, Mr. Zhang Xinming, to the ground and brutally kicked and punched him in front of Ms. Liu's other two children. Ms. Liu and her son were then taken away. Ms. Liu was tortured in the Taojialing Dongjiao School brainwashing centre, and was released several days later. She suffered tremendously since the incident, and died on June 2nd, 2011.
  • The First Women's Forced Labour Camp in Shandong Attempts to Extend Dr. Zhai Jinping's Prison Sentence and Other Cases of Covert Term Extension

    Forty-three-year old Falun Gong practitioner Zhai Jinping was sentenced to three years' forced labour and taken to Shandong First Women's Forced Labour Camp in Jinan on July 23rd, 2008. During the detention, she refused to give up her spiritual practice. While doing the sitting meditation on her bed, guards kicked her hard, knocking her off the bed. She went on hunger strikes several times to protest the persecution and was locked in a solitary cell many times. She was previously sentenced to three years of forced labour in the same labour camp on October 25th, 2000.
  • My Experience of Having Abnormal Physical Reactions in Wuhan City Women’s Forced Labour Camp in Hubei Province

    When I arrived at Wuhan Women’s Forced Labour Camp on September 30th, 2009 guards demanded that I write a guarantee statement to renounce my belief. I refused. Shortly after lunch on my third day there, I suddenly felt severe pains in my head, as if it was about to explode. I shivered from head to toe, as if my internal organs were shaking and my heart was about to drop out. I couldn’t stop vomiting and had difficulty urinating. I was unable to stand, sit or walk steadily, and there was an immediate increase in my blood pressure. My hands and feet became stiff. My vision became blurred and my responses were very slow. Very often I didn’t know where I was, what time it was or even if I had eaten. I lost my hearing and my hair quickly turned white. My family members are very worried about my condition, and suspect that I was poisoned.
  • Many Falun Gong Practitioners from Xichang, Sichuan Province, Persecuted

    At least 11 Falun Gong practitioners have been arrested by police in Xichang, Sichuan Province, since September 2009. Ms. Hu Yunhuai was tortured to death at the Xichang City Detention Centre. Nine practitioners were sentenced to prison terms. Ms. Zhao Jun and Ms. Wei Huirong were both put on trial. It has been almost four months since Ms. Wei's trial, but the municipal court still has not made a decision.
  • Ms. Wang Meiling Sentenced to Forced Labour and Brutally Treated

    Ms. Wang Meiling has been persecuted many times since the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) started to persecute Falun Gong practitioners. She was sentenced to a forced labour camp and her term was extended on a number of occasions. She was sentenced in 2002 to three years of forced labour in Yunnan Women's Forced Labour Camp. Ms. Wang's term in Yunnan Women's Forced Labour Camp was extended for eight months, and she was severely tortured. She was finally released in 2006. On March 10th, 2011, Ms. Wang was reported to the authorities when she was seen talking to people about Falun Gong in a park. She was arrested by police. Chuxiong Court sentenced Ms. Wang to three years in prison on May 26th. She is now in the process of appeal.
  • Older Practitioner Ms. Zhang Zhongfen from Chongqing Dies as a Result of Persecution

    After the persecution started, Ms. Zhang Zhongfen went to appeal for Falun Gong at Beijing's Tiananmen Square in 2002. She was arrested and police officers brutally abused and tortured her. Ms. Zhang was arrested again around August 2008 as she spoke with people about Falun Gong at a farmers' market. She was once again subjected to one year of forced labour, and held in the Maojiashan Women's Forced Labour Camp. Physical abuse and mistreatment caused Ms. Zhang's head to be seriously injured, and her leg was fractured. Due to her injuries resulting from extreme abuse, she lost the ability to take care of herself, and was once again in critical condition. After her release, police frequently harassed her at home, attempting to force her to write a guarantee statement to give up her beliefs. Ms. Zhang passed away on June 14th.
  • Family Files Lawsuit for Ms. Su Dan's Torture in Beijing Women's Forced Labour Camp

    When Ms. Su Dan was home on February 20th, the neighbourhood administrator deceived her into opening the door by saying that she needed to check her residential permit. Three police officers stormed in and arrested her. Ms. Su told her lawyer that the guards at the Shunyu District Detention Centre had brutally beaten and severely injured her. Ms. Su was sentenced to forced labour and taken to the Beijing Women's Forced Labour Camp. She was forced to sit up straight on a small chair 18 hours per day, with both hands in her lap and without moving. If she moved, three prisoners assigned to watch her would beat her. Ms. Su's husband complained to the Beijing Forced Labour Bureau about Ms. Sun being tortured. The labour camp authorities asserted that no torture or beatings of any kind took place.
  • Ms. Liu Yufang Seriously Ill after Being Tortured at Chaoyang City Detention Centre; Her Children Attacked

    Detainees in Chaoyang City Detention Centre in Liaoning Province are tortured for long periods of time. They are not given enough food to eat and are forced to perform slave labour. Those who fail to finish the work demanded of them are reprimanded and beaten. Fifty-four-year-old Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Liu Yufang was arrested by police who broke into her home on October 12th, 2010. Currently, Ms. Liu has been detained in Chaoyang Detention Centre for more than eight months. She is forced to carry out slave labour for long periods of time and was not given enough food to eat. If she did not finish the jobs given to her, she would be reprimanded and beaten. When Ms. Liu's children went to see the head of the detention centre to ask for their mother's release, the head pushed them out of the room, grabbed the brother by the collar and bashed his head against the wall. went
