Mr. Li Liandong Sentenced to Forced Labour Camp Three Times
2010-05-12On August 27th, 2008, Mr. Li Liandong was arrested and sentenced to three years of forced labour. Mr. Li is being held at the Tumuji Forced Labour Camp. This was the third time he was sentenced to a term of three years in a forced labour camp. When Mr Li's second term of forced labour finished in March 2007, officials took him to a hotel and brutally tortured him, but still refused to give up his belief in Falun Gong. Mr. Li was tied to an iron chair for over seven days. He was viciously beaten, deprived of sleep for over 20 days, and barbaric methods were used to force-feed him. -
I Suffered Severe Persecution at Jinan Women's Prison
2010-05-12After I decided to become a Falun Gong practitioner and cultivate Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance, I was unjustly arrested on October 15th, 2006, and sentenced to twelve years in prison. I was jailed at the Jinan Women's Prison on April 23rd, 2007, and that same night, transferred to the group training team that specialised in persecuting Falun Gong practitioners. Every day from 6:00 a.m. to midnight, prisoners controlled by the guards bombarded me with brainwashing attempts. Since I refused to accept the so-called "transforming" [forcibly renounce Falun Gong], they tried punishing me by forcing me to stand for long periods, depriving me of sleep, beating me, and cursing me, all to force me to give up being a Falun Gong practitioner. -
A Handicapped Elderly Woman's Defence Arguments at her Trial in Kaifeng City
2010-05-12Recently, the court in Kaifeng City, Henan Province, tried a handicapped elderly Falun Gong practitioner. The practitioner represented herself and requested that the court drop all charges and release her. Since July 20th, 1999, she has been arrested, jailed, sent to forced labour camp, imprisoned, and had money extorted from her. In July 2009, she was arrested by officers from the Longting District Police Station in Kaifeng City. Agents from the 610 Office (an organisation of special agents just for persecuting Falun Gong) took her to the Tonxu County Detention Centre and have held her there ever since. -
Mr. Ma Yunxian, 70, Dies After Suffering Extensive Persecution in Henan Province
2010-05-11Mr. Ma Yunxian and his wife Luo Shuhua began practising Falun Gong in March 1998 and attained good health and harmony in their family. After the persecution against Falun Gong practitioners by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) began on July 20th, 1999, Mr. Ma's work unit froze his and his wife's retirement pension. The couple had to rely on their relatives for financial assistance. In July 2004, Mr. Ma was arrested by police. He managed to escape and began a life of homelessness until he returned home in 2006. After suffering such an extended period of persecution, Mr. Ma passed away in April of 2008. He was 70 years old. Luo Shuhua, has faced many counts of imprisonment, torture, and seizure of property. -
Police from Changsha City Torture Falun Gong Practitioners
2010-05-11Five practitioners, including Liu Peilan and Li Zhigang, were arrested by officials from the Qiaoyi Police Station on the evening of April 17th, 2010. In order to coerce confessions from them, three male practitioners were tortured for several hours by police. The police severely beat the practitioners, squeezed their throats, twisted their hands, batted at the practitioners' faces and kicked their legs. One practitioner's leg was beaten so severely that it bled continuously and copiously and the blood even flowed out of his woollen long johns. One practitioner is still currently detained at Wangcheng County Detention Centre. Officials from the Domestic Security Division have forbidden his family members to visit him, and ransacked his home. -
Mr. Dong Shaotai, Almost Seventy, Sentenced to Seven-Year Prison Term
2010-05-11On April 13th, 2010, Mr. Dong Shaotai, a 68-year-old practitioner who had been detained for more than six months, was tried in the Shuangliu County Court in Sichuan Province. Two human rights lawyers from Beijing overcame many difficulties to valiantly defend their client. In the end, the court followed the dictates of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) and sentenced Mr. Dong, who had been persecuted almost to death, to seven years in prison. In reality the outcome of the trial had been decided long before the trial began. -
Ms. Wang Sulan from Tangshan City Secretly Sentenced to Nine Years of Imprisonment in Beijing
2010-05-11Ms. Wang Sulan, a 48-year-old Falun Gong practitioner from Tangshan City, Hebei Province was arrested in Beijing in 2009 by police officers, and then was secretly sentenced to nine years of imprisonment. Ms. Wang is currently detained at Hebei Women's Prison. Since 1999, Ms. Wang has been subjected to having her home ransacked, brainwashing and detention. -
Another Participant in the 2002 Falun Gong Cable TV Broadcasts in Changchun City Dies in Custody
2010-05-10Mr. Liang Zhenxing was among those who participated in a successful attempt to broadcast videos explaining the true situation about the persecution of Falun Gong over cable TV in China's Changchun City in 2002. Mr. Liang, who suffered terrible torture in custody, died on May 1st, 2010 in Gongzhuling Central Hospital under surveillance of Gongzhuling City Prison guards. -
Retired Teacher from Jilin Province Suffers Years of Persecution
2010-05-10Ms. Shao Lihong is a retired teacher from the Jiaohe City Experimental Elementary School of Jilin Province. After she began to practise Falun Gong in 1996, all her chronic illnesses were cured, and she became a healthy and happy person. As a steadfast practitioner, she appealed for Falun Gong after the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) launched a persecution campaign against it in 1999. She was arrested repeatedly, and sent to forced labour camps twice. Due to severe mistreatment and torture, her health sharply declined during her second labour camp term. All of her old diseases came back, leaving her in critical condition. -
First-hand Account of Persecution Suffered in Wangcun Forced Labour Camp
2010-05-10On July 31st, 2008, I was studying the Falun Gong teachings and sharing experiences with over a dozen fellow practitioners. When we opened the door, over a dozen plainclothes policemen rushed in and arrested us. On August 30th, seven of us were sent to Wangcun Forced Labour Camp. Because I would not renounce practising Falun Gong I was handcuffed to the window bars of a toilet, both of my arms forced straight. They threatened me with solitary confinement if I refused to listen to them. The next day, I could not lift my left arm, and my hands were painful and numb. They only opened one handcuff for me to eat or use the toilet. After about four days, I felt dizzy and both of my arms hurt a lot. Since May 2009, we have been forced to do hard labour for long hours, for 14 or 15 hours a day on average. -
Severe Abuse and Mistreatment Inflicted upon Falun Gong Practitioners in Shaanxi Province Women's Prison
2010-05-10Since Falun Gong practitioners began being detained at Shaanxi Province Women's Prison on December 6th, 2002, the persecution of practitioners has been escalating; from initial physical abuse, exposure to the burning sun, torture devices, and punches and kicks, to currently round-the-clock brainwashing, days of sleep deprivation, denial of toilet use, and even injections of unknown drugs. -
For Liu Zhimei, Time Stopped Years Ago at Age 21
2010-05-09Ms. Liu Zhimei's steadfastness in practising Falun Gong and becoming a better person resulted in brutal persecution by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP). She was sentenced to 12 years in prison in 2002. Right before she was released from the Shandong Province Women's Prison in November 2008, prison officials injected her with a harmful mixture of narcotics and anti-psychotic drugs. Ms. Liu suffered a sudden mental collapse and couldn't remember her correct age. Grief-stricken, her mother died three months later. -
Facts Surrounding the Death of 60-Year-Old Mr. Lu Guanglin in Panjin City Prison, Liaoning Province
2010-05-09Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Lu Guanglin was arrested by police on March 15th, 2005, and was sentenced to 13 years in prison. Mr. Lu was brutally tortured. In February 2009, Mr. Lu went on a hunger strike to resist the persecution. He was force-fed a concentrated saline solution. A nurse poured scalding water on Mr. Lu, which resulted in multiple burns. Also, in the dead of winter, they poured cold water on Mr. Liu, opened the window and doors, and dragged him on the floor. Several of Mr. Lu's teeth were knocked out. Over the duration of such torture, Mr. Lu was in critical condition three times, until he finally passed away in Panjin Hospital No. 2 at the end of February 2009. -
Practitioner Zhang Yunting Forced into Homelessness and Passed Away in 2008
2010-05-0949-year-old Falun Gong practitioner Zhang Yunting from Dandong City passed away on August 25th, 2008. Due to the Chinese Communist Party's persecution of Falun Gong, he was forced into homelessness, and his wife left him.One time, a banner related to Falun Gong was hung on a building in Dandong City. National security guards assumed that he had hung up the banner and arrested him. Mr. Zhang was handcuffed to a piece of heating equipment for two days and nights. He was released later due to lack of evidence. In July 2006, Mr. Zhang Yunting had extravasated blood in his brain, and was sent to a hospital by relatives. He remained bedridden and was sent to a home for the elderly in the second half of 2007. -
Falun Gong Practitioner Jiao Lili from Langzhou City, Gansu Province Persecuted
2010-05-09While Ms. Jiao Lili was visiting a relative during the Chinese New Year holiday on February 24th, 2010, officers from the Police Department of Lanzhou City stormed into the house. They handcuffed her relative's hands behind her back and interrogated her. They ransacked her home and frightened her child. Ms. Jiao Lili was hiding in another room. The police found her and arrested her. They took her to the police department and tortured her. They then sent her to a detention centre. Guards slapped her about the head, bound her with handcuffs and shackles, and kept her on a "tiger bench" for 4 hours. Ms. Jiao was later sentenced to one and a half years in a forced labour camp.
