Cases of Falun Gong Practitioners Persecuted in Lishui County, Nanjing City
2010-05-16Lishui County 610 Office agent Duan Liqing, domestic security division head Wang Yong, along with others, arrested 13 Falun Gong practitioners in 2009. Two of the practitioners were sentenced and are now in a detention centre. The rest of the practitioners were detained at brainwashing centres for from two weeks to several months. The authorities searched the homes of these 13 practitioners and took their personal property, including computers, printers, CD/DVD writers, a laminator, cameras, cash, and their house keys. -
Mr. Geng Huaipu of Xuzhou City, Jiangsu Province, Sentenced
2010-05-16Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Geng Huaipu was arrested on April 3rd, 2009, in Tongling City, Anhui Province, by over a dozen officials and police officers. The police suspended him from the window bars by his handcuffs overnight. The next day, police transferred him to Tongling City Detention Centre. He was detained there for two months. He was then sentenced to three years in prison. Geng Huaipu had previously been persecuted twice in forced labour camps, once for two years and the second time for three years. His elder brother, Geng Huaihao; his mother; and his sister-in-law, Shi Zhonglin, have all been persecuted to death by the authorities. -
Additional Information Regarding the Recent Death of Mr. Liang Zhenxing
2010-05-15Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Liang Zhenxing died on May 1st, 2010 as a result of relentless torture since he was arrested in 2002. Mr. Liang was handed a 19-year prison sentence. At Jilin prison, guards ordered inmates to beat him. Guards put him twice on a torture device, "Immobilisation Bed" that consists of a 6-foot-long wooden board with steel plates fixed at each end. Holes in the steel plates are used to fix handcuffs and shackles. In addition to the function of "stretching," the main function of this device is to immobilise the victim. The victims were only released from the torture device when having a bowel movement; urinating and sleeping spelled no such release. This torture device causes tremendous pain for the victim and in some cases it has led to permanent disability. -
Mr. Zhang Chuanbao, 49, Dies After Years of Persecution
2010-05-15Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Zhang Chuanbao, 49, refused to give up his Falun Gong practice and wrote the words "Falun Gong is Good" on an overpass one night in 2000. Three officers saw him and beat him, and took him to a detention centre, where he was beaten by other inmates. In 2001, he was detained again and forced to sign statements not to practise Falun Gong any more. His health steadily declined after his release. In the winter of 2009, he had to stay in a hospital for a month but did not improve. He died on April 8th, 2010 at the age of 49. -
Ms. Song Shuye, 60, Dies after Enduring over 10 Years of Persecution and Torture
2010-05-15In 2001, because Ms. Song Shuye wrote a public letter to appeal against the persecution of Falun Gong, she was sent to the No. 2 Labour Education Centre of Tangshan City for three years and brutally tortured. In 2004, because her blood pressure was dangerously high, Ms. Song was released. She had many injuries to her body and head as the result of the brutal torture she endured in custody. She soon became paralysed, lost vision in both eyes, and had bedsores. She died in April 2010. -
Excerpts from Beijing Lawyer Jin Guanghong's Defence of Falun Gong Practitioner Ms. Jia Wenguang
2010-05-15Police arrested Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Jia Wenguang on January 14th, 2010. The Hebei District Court tried her on April 27th. During the court session, Beijing lawyer Jin Guanghong presented a compelling two-hour defence on behalf of Ms. Jia: "My client Jia Wenguang and other practitioners of Falun Gong are all law-abiding citizens. Their practice of Falun Gong does not disrupt any implementation of the law or administrative regulations, or any public interest or the interest of others; on the contrary, they have gained physical and mental health and raised their moral standards through the practice. Their promotion of Falun Gong to others is also an indirect contribution to society. At the same time, they have become more kind-hearted and more willing to help others." -
Ms. Huang Sulan, 63, Repeatedly Tortured and Harassed
2010-05-14Ms. Huang Sulan was arrested, sentenced to forced labour, and her home ransacked for practising Falun Gong. During her time at the forced labour camp, she was handcuffed and hung up, handcuffed to a heavy board, force fed, beaten, not allowed to go to the toilet, and deprived of sleep until she was to close to death. At present she is still under tight surveillance by the local authorities. -
Ms. Wang Lan, 56, Tells Her Story -- Ten Years of Persecution
2010-05-14Ms. Wang Lan was co-ordinator of the Yunan Province Falun Gong Volunteer Learning Centre before the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) started the persecution. On July 20th, 1999, the day the persecution began, Ms. Wang experienced her first arrest and home search. Two days later, she was arrested again and detained for 100 days. On January 23rd, 2001, she was arrested and held for 15 days. The authorities attempted to forcibly "transform" [forcibly renounce Falun Gong] her. Her "transformation" story was altered to fit propaganda and reported in major news media. On July 28th, 2005, she was arrested and sentenced to four years in prison. Her pension, benefits, and insurance have been revoked. -
Peasant Woman Arrested Nine Times for Telling People About the Persecution of Falun Gong
2010-05-14Ms. Zhang Shufeng is now being persecuted in a forced labour camp. Since July 1999, when the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) orchestrated the persecution of Falun Gong, she has been arrested nine times and brutally persecuted both mentally and physically, all at the hands of the Shouguang City government and the 610 Office (an organisation of special agents just for persecuting Falun Gong). She has also suffered great economic losses, and all her family members are living in fear. -
Lawyer Imprisoned for Defending Falun Gong Practitioners Denied Family Visits
2010-05-14Mr. Wang Yonghang, a lawyer from Dalian City, has been sentenced to seven years in prison for defending Falun Gong practitioners. He is now being held in Liaonan Prison, Liaoning Province. His family went to visit him on April 14th, 2010. His wife asked to see him but the guard at reception refused to let them in, saying that the person they wanted to visit was a Falun Gong practitioner. Whoever refused to give up their belief in Falun Gong would not have visitation rights. On hearing these words, Mr. Wang's mother went to the reception window and asked, "Which law says that I cannot visit my son?"A female guard at the next window said, "My regulations are the law. I am the law." -
Three Generations of a Family Suffer Endless Persecution
2010-05-13All the members of a three-generation family in Dougou Village, Qinan County, Shandong Province, practise Falun Gong. This family has been subjected to endless persecution ever since July 20th,1999. The head of the family, 72-year-old Nie Hongting, was sentenced to forced labour, as were his son and daughter-in-law, who are still serving terms at labour camps. Mr. Nie Hongting's wife died after suffering long-term persecution, and his granddaughter was expelled from school in 2005. -
Ms. Tian Guifang Tortured in Huaian County, Hebei Province
2010-05-13Because of her belief in Falun Gong, Ms. Tian Guifang was detained three times and sent to a forced labour camp once. In addition, she was humiliated, threatened, and had money extorted from her. Ms. Tian Guifang and other practitioners went to Beijing to appeal for Falun Gong in October 2000. They were arrested by Beijing police and then taken back to the local detention centre. When they went on a hunger strike to appeal, officers dragged Ms. Tian out of the room and threw her onto a bed in another room. Then 5 or 6 people came and forcibly held down her head, legs, and arms so that she could be force-fed by inserting a tube in her nose. Because of the torture, Ms. Tian vomited blood. The force-feeding was repeated several times. -
Ms. Liu Xinru Held 9 Months on False Charges in Beijing's Fengtai District Detention Centre
2010-05-13Ms. Liu Xinru, a Falun Gong practitioner from Beijing, has been held in the Fengtai District Detention Centre for more than nine months. On March 26th, 2010, the Fengtai District Court put her on trial and attempted to convict her of false charges. Two attorneys defended her with a plethora of evidence clearly showing that the authorities generated fake evidence to frame her. The attorneys asked for Ms. Liu's acquittal and release. -
Shenyang Court Brings Falun Gong Practitioners to Trial
2010-05-13Trials were held on April 19th - April 21st, 2010 in Shenhe District Court, Shenyang City, Liaoning Province for Mr. Wang Yuchun, Ms. Ma Guoqi, and Ms. Guo Hongyan respectively, Falun Gong practitioners from Shenyang City. On September 24th, 2009, police officers arrested Mr. Wang Yuchun at his workplace and later took him to the Shenhe District Detention Centre. On September 22nd, 2009, police took Ms. Ma to the Shenyang City Detention Centre, where she was detained for over seven months, and not allowed any visitation from her family. -
The Persecution of Ms. Zhu Yaping and How it Tore Her Family Apart
2010-05-12Ms. Zhu Yaping has been persecuted by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) simply because she follows the principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance as a Falun Gong practitioner. She was arrested and "sentenced" to a forced labour camp twice for a total of three years, and she was also detained in a brainwashing centre. Ms. Zhu was constantly harassed at her home by the police, creating tension among her family members. Her husband, who couldn't bear it any longer, divorced her, leaving Ms. Zhu to live and take care of herself alone.
