Ms. Xiao Peiying from Gaobeidian City Survives Repeated Persecution
2010-05-29Ms. Xiao Peiying from Gaobeidian City, Hebei Province, has been persecuted repeatedly because she will not give up her right to practise Falun Gong. On June 26th, 2008, four or five policemen broke into Ms. Xiao's home. They broke two doors and searched the house. They confiscated mobile phones and Falun Gong items. She was taken to the police station. Police forced her to sign a declaration that she was not a Falun Gong practitioner and took her fingerprints for the police records. When they were torturing Ms. Xiao, they smashed her face, grabbed her hair, and broke her arms by hitting them against tables. They pressed her hands into the ink for her fingerprints. She was held in the detention centre for nine days and then was sent to the Shijiazhuang Women's Forced Labour Camp. On the way she had ten kilo shackles on her. -
Practitioner Xu Dawei Dies at Age 36 as a Result of Persecution; Sympathisers Investigated, Attorney Pressured
2010-05-28Mr. Xu Dawei was sentenced to eight years in prison for refusing to give up his practice of Falun Gong. In prison, he was subjected to several methods of torture, including extended periods of handcuffing and shackling, savage beatings, hanging by the arms, force-feeding, being whipped with rubber tubes, being punctured with needles, and electric shock treatment. Mr. Xu died at the age of 36 on February 16th, 2009, merely 13 days after his release. In March 2010, 376 villagers from five villages jointly filed an appeal to the government on behalf of Mr. Xu. Mr. Xu's family hired an attorney to represent them, but the attorney was pressured by the Law Enforcement Bureau. -
Ms. Zhang Zhaozhi Died in 2009 After Years of Persecution
2010-05-28In 2001 Ms. Zhang was arrested by police and sentenced to 18 months of forced labour. was tortured while in the Banjiao Women's Forced Labour Camp. She was forced to stand still for hours, work overtime, and sit on a narrow bench in the same position for hours. Guards deprived her of sleep, and ordered two inmates to closely monitor her. She was not allowed to talk to anyone and if she did, she was beaten, kicked and verbally abused by the guards. Ms. Zhang Zhaozhi died in October 2009, after suffering years of persecution. -
Mr. Tan Qiucheng in Critical Condition as a Result of Torture in Jilin Prison
2010-05-28Since the end of October 2003, all the prison cells used for solitary confinement have been equipped with the cruel torture device known as the "stretching bed." Those Falun Gong practitioners with steadfast belief in the practice who refused to renounce their faith, such as Mr. Tan Qiucheng, have been subjected to the "stretching bed" torture method, which is known as the cruellest of all torture methods in Jilin Prison. -
A Physician's Narrative of Her Persecution
2010-05-28Ms. Tan Wei, a 35-year-old doctor from Chenzhou City, Hunan Province, started practising Falun Gong in 1996. At that time, she had a tumour in her ovaries and had become infertile. After two months of practice her tumour disappeared, and she even gave birth to a baby boy in 2002. In 2005 she was arrested by police and detained for 23 days. She was not allowed to sleep for long periods of time, denied the right to use the toilet, and injected with unknown drugs. To avoid persecution, she was forced to leave her hometown in November 2009. -
Sufferings of a Teacher Couple Who Devoted Themselves to Education
2010-05-27Two students reported Mr. Xiao Sixian and his wife to the police as Falun Gong practitioners. On July 12th, 2008, when the couple was informing people about the true nature of Falun Gong in Erlang Township, the local police arrested them. Their motorcycle, valued at more than 5,000 yuan, was confiscated. They were held at the Xishui Detention Centre. Five days later, the pregnant Ms. Wu was allowed to go home under house arrest. Many people from the county government, the police department, and the town government stayed at her home to watch her closely. She was forced to abort her eight-month-old foetus and was sentenced to six years in prison. Now Mr. Xiao is sentenced to six and a half years in prison and is being held in Dujun Prison, Guizhou Province. -
Mr. Yu Shaoqi from Hunan Province Arrested at Hangzhou Train Station
2010-05-27Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Yu Shaoq was detained at least eight times for practising Falun Gong. In November 2005, he was sentenced to a forced labour camp. He was once confined in a mental hospital for about three months and in a brainwashing centre for about two months. He was hung up, beaten, smothered, force fed, injected with poisons, and humiliated sexually. His ears were beaten until broken, his nose and mouth bled, and his internal organs were injured. Because of the ransacking, threatens, extortion, and many arrests, Mr. Yu's wife divorced him. In May 2010, he was searched by police at a train station. They found several Falun Gong brochures on him and arrested him. -
Wei Danquan is on the Verge of Death in Jidong Prison After Years of Torture and Mistreatment
2010-05-27Falun Gong practitioner Wei Danquan from Shanghaiguan was sent to the Jidong Prison, Tangshan City on July 24th, 2008. Due to long term persecution, he suffers from severe tuberculosis, he is spitting blood, and has heart disease and pleurisy. The situation is getting worse, he is on the verge of death. His family has asked for medical parole. The prison keeps delaying, and refuses to answer the request. -
Children Tortured, Mother Held in a Brainwashing Centre, Father Passes Away from Stress and Grief
2010-05-27In the 11 years of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) persecution of Falun Gong, practitioner Ms. Cai Yuchang and her family have endured harassment and threats from police station staff, 610 Office officials (an organisation of special agents just for persecuting Falun Gong), and the residents' committee. Her two sons and one daughter who practice Falun Gong were taken to forced labour camps or psychiatric hospitals, and she herself was detained several times in a brainwashing centre. Ms. Cai's husband, a non-practitioner, could not withstand the endless threats and attacks and finally passed away due to the stress and grief. The whole family was torn to pieces by the CCP. -
Elderly Ms. Liu Jinlian and Her Family Repeatedly Harassed
2010-05-26Ms. Liu Jinlian, 72, and her family members were repeatedly threatened by the local police and Chinese Communist Party (CCP) officials in April 2010. Police harassed Ms. Liu and her family in the name of security for the World Expo in Shanghai. They told Ms. Liu's daughter to come to the station to write a guarantee statement to renounce practising Falun Gong for her mother. They threatened to lock Ms. Liu in a brainwashing centre if she fails to promise to never appeal for Falun Gong or talk to people about Falun Gong. Ms. Liu's daughter refused to do so. Ms. Liu was arrested four times since 1999 for not giving up her belief in Falun Gong. She was also sentenced to forced labour twice. Scars left from torture that she endured in the labour camp are still clearly visible today. -
Teacher Forced to Work as a Janitor, Salary Suspended
2010-05-26Falun Gong practitioner Ms. He Yanhua from Maoming City, Guangdong Province taught chemistry for more than 10 years at Shanhe High School in Yangjiao Town, Maogang District. She was an outstanding teacher who was admired by her students and praised by her colleagues and the school administration. However, because she practises Falun Gong, she is now allowed to work only as a janitor, and the school has not paid her salary for months. After the Chinese regime began to persecute Falun Gong, she travelled to Beijing to appeal for justice for Falun Gong at the end of 2000. However, she was detained and sent to a forced labour camp for 18 months. -
Xi'an City Brainwashing Centre Detains Elderly Practitioners
2010-05-26At the time of this article, seven practitioners are being detained in Xi'an City Brainwashing Centre. Two of them are nearly 80 years old. Ms. Wang Qiuxian is 77 years old. On March 2nd, 2010, five officials broke into her home and took her to the brainwashing centre. Ms. Liu Jing is 79 years old. On the morning of March 26th, seven officials broke into her home and dragged her down the stairs from the fourth floor to the ground floor. They covered her head with a black bag and pushed her into a police car. Then, they took her to the brainwashing centre for further abuse. -
My Experience in the Qinghe Detention Centre
2010-05-26Although I was released from the Beijing Qinghe Detention Centre about two years ago, I can't shake the memory of my experience there. The living conditions at Qinghe Detention Centre are the worst. The cell held between twenty-seven and thirty-two people and only twenty could lie down to rest at any one time. The latrine pit was covered with a piece of cardboard to increase the sleeping space. Those not sleeping had to stand for two hours at a time. This meant that sleeping was arranged by shifts, with four shifts a night for everyone. We were short of food and what we received was watered down vegetables which we called "cabbage swimming." -
Ms. Shi Rongxian Arrested Seven Times, Her Husband Persecuted to Death, and Her Daughter Homeless
2010-05-25Since July 20th, 1999, when the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) started persecuting Falun Gong, police have frequently persecuted Ms. Shi Rongxian and her husband and daughter. She recounts: "On October 23rd, 1999, my husband, my daughter, and I went to Beijing to legally appeal for Falun Gong, but police officers arrested us. In the detention centre, guards forced me onto a chair and took turns whipping my hips with a leather belt. Huo Cai slapped my face, beat my head, and hit my head against the wall. They asked me, "Who let you go to Beijing?" When I didn't reply, they tortured me and beat me until it was dark. My hips were beaten black and blue. My husband was tortured Changlinzi Forced Labour Camp with "Five Horses Splitting a Body" in 2001. After my husband was released he was extremely skinny and never recovered. On March 26th, 2006, he passed away." -
Crimes Witnessed at Nanmusi Women's Forced Labour Camp
2010-05-25I was first detained at the Nanmusi Women's Labour Camp from 2000 to 2002. Many practitioners were also detained there at the time. Some practitioners who were deceived by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) agreed to give up practising Falun Gong. Practitioners who remained steadfast in their belief were subject to all kinds of torture.
