Nine Practitioners Receive Harsh Sentences in Shouguang City, Shandong Province

From January 1st, 2008 to August 24th, 2008, 89 practitioners in Shouguang City were arrested. Fourteen of them were sentenced to forced labour. Nine practitioners were sentenced to up to 14 years in prison on December 25th, 2008, by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) court in Shouguang City, Shandong Province. -
Child Beaten by Police for Asking about Her Detained Mother
2009-02-11On January 16th 2009, I returned home and saw a mess everywhere. Dad was very haggard. Under my persistent questioning, he simply told me that mum had been arrested because of her distributing leaflets exposing the persecution and telling people the facts about Falun Gong, and was taken to Dashan Detention Centre in Qingdao. I could not control my agitation and went to Shen Tao, the director of the Political Protection Office, to ask for my mum. In 2004, he arrested her and tortured her. She could be in life-threatening danger: how could I calmly stay at home? Suddenly Shen Tao pushed me. I felt a searing pain in my back. I asked, "Why are you beating me?" He replied, "Who beat you? It served you right!" -
Ms. Li Xihui Subjected to Physical and Mental Torture for More than Two Years
2009-02-11Ms. Li Xihui has been detained in the so-called "Chengdu Legal System Education Centre" for more than two years. The practitioners detained in this facility were injected with drugs that destroy the central nervous system. They were also subjected to all kinds of mental torture. As a result, they suffer from severe mental problems. Regardless of whether they yielded or not, the practitioners looked wizened, their eyes dull, their speech slurred and their gait slow, and their biological mechanisms malfunctioned after they were released. It took a long time for them to regain their health. Since the Party does these things secretly, the practitioners' families and the general population are unaware of what is happening. -
Tumen National Security Brigade Brutally Tortures Falun Gong Practitioners
2009-02-11In mid-December 2008, police from the Tumen National Security Brigade arrested Ms. Liu Shanzhen, Ms. Meng Fanqin, and four or five other Falun Gong practitioners, most of whom were women. Liu Shanzhen, Meng Fanqin and other practitioners were arrested because they distributed leaflets exposing the persecution and told people the facts about Falun Gong, and were reported by someone. The police brutally tortured them, which resulted in severe injuries. Meng Fanqin, who is over 60, was beaten so badly by the police that one could hardly bear to look at her. -
Ms. Sun Cuiqing and Ms. Xu Na Sentenced to Prison
2009-02-11Police officers from Tanghai County, Hebei Province stole from Falun Gong practitioners and made up a story to frame them. Police recorded finding 1,200-1,300 pieces of Falun Gong material in Ms. Sun Cuiqing's home at the time. Li Fuguo and other officers later falsified a report saying that they found 9,258 pieces of Falun Gong materials there. As a result, the Tanghai County Court sentenced Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Sun Cuiqing to four years and Ms. Xu Na to four and a half years of imprisonment. -
Woman Tells the Court About the Greatness of Falun Gong--Lawyer Courageously Defends Her for Refusing to Give Up Her Belief
2009-02-10On July 29th, 2008 while Zhu Yumei and Mr. Wang Kun were distributing leaflets exposing the persecution and telling people the facts about Falun Gong, they were arrested by a group of policemen. Since then, Ms. Zhu and Mr. Wang have been held at detention centres. In court, Ms. Zhu stated that the reason she was giving out out flyers was to let people know about the persecution of Falun Gong. She and Mr. Wang were not harming anyone. Quite the contrary, they were helping people to learn the true situation about Falun Gong, the persecution, and the nature of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP). Lawyer Han refuted prosecutor Acheng's charges one by one with quotes from China's Constitution and various parts of its criminal law. The lawyer's defence was forceful. -
Additional Information Surrounding the Death of Older Practitioner Ms. Chen Pingzhen in Heilongjiang Province
2009-02-10Ms. Chen Pingzhen, 58, went missing on February 12th, 2006, after going to a relative's birthday party. On the afternoon of February 14th, her family saw a photo of an "Unknown Body" death announcement put out by the Hegang City Police Department; this is how they learned of her death. The autopsy revealed 700 ml. (about 3 cups) of blood trapped in her skull, one damaged kidney, and blood on both sides of her mouth. There was a bloody mark on her neck, one side of her face was very swollen and bruised, and her hands and feet were bruised. All the possessions and Falun Gong leaflets exposing the persecution she usually carried were gone. -
Torture Suffered by Ms. Wang Wenqi at the Wangcun Forced Labour Camp in Shandong Province
2009-02-10Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Wang Wenqi was arrested because she was distributing leaflets exposing the persecution and telling people the facts about Falun Gong. She was sentenced and taken to Wangcun Labour Camp. She suffered brutal torture at the labour camp. Wang Wenqi was forced to sit on a small stool (a form of torture) around the clock. Her legs had to stay together and her hands had to remain on her knees. She was not allowed to move or sleep, and she was not even allowed to use the toilet or take a bath. She was not allowed to sleep for four days and nights. Her buttocks became sore ridden. Wang Wenqi fell to the ground. Later, Wang Wenqi was assigned heavy labour. -
Older Mr. Luo Chaoming in Critical Condition at Deyang City Prison, Sichuan Province
2009-02-1060-year-old Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Luo Chaoming was jailed at Deyang City Prison on January 17th, 2009. A week later, the prison called his family and told them that Mr. Luo had suddenly developed high blood pressure, heart disease, and pericardial effusion (accumulation of excess fluid around the heart). The caller reported that Mr. Luo was in critical condition and had been admitted to the Shuangliu Justice Officers Hospital in Chengdu City, Sichuan Province. -
After More Than 900 Days on a Hunger Strike, Mr. Yang Jianpo Is Released in Critical Condition
2009-02-09Mr. Yang Jianpo, a practitioner, was released by the Jidong (Eastern Hebei) Prison because he was in critical condition resulting from a hunger strike that lasted more than 900 days. He is recovering. On January 16th, 2009, more than ten police officers arrested Mr. Yang at home. When the police arrived at the Yang's, the family refused to open the door. They tried to reason with the police while the police tried to force their way in. The family said, "We have not done anything wrong or broken any laws. Mr. Yang was just released and now you come to arrest him again?" The police left, but afterward, the family was put under 24-hour surveillance . -
The Continuing Persecution of Beijing Practitioner Mr. Cao Dong
2009-02-09Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Cao Dong is currently detained and being persecuted in Tianshui Prison in Gansu Province in retaliation for an interview he gave to the Vice President of the European Parliament in which he exposed the persecution of Falun Gong. He met with Mr Edward McMillan-Scott on May 21st, 2006, and told him about the severe persecution of Falun Gong practitioners in China. Mr. Cao was immediately arrested by police from the Domestic Security Division and taken to Gansu for detention. He was sentenced to five years in prison just before Chinese New Year's eve in 2007. His lawyer said that the only evidence justifying the sentence was a false confession. -
I Was Cruelly Tortured in Wanjia Forced Labour Camp in Harbin City
2009-02-09Ms. Song Wenjuan came from Heilongjiang Province. Because she practised Falun Gong, she was repeatedly tortured by the guards in Wanjia Forced Labour Camp in Harbin City. In order her to force Ms. Song to give up Falun Gong she was hung up, left out in the cold, beaten, and shocked with electric batons. Because of the torture, she lost consciousness many times and her left hand became completely paralysed. She also had to do slave labour. -
The Persecution of Mr. Ma Yingju from Inner Mongolia
2009-02-09On January 5th, 2009, Mr. Ma Yingju was again arrested by the local police. For nine years, he was repeatedly arrested, detained, and sentenced to forced labour for persisting in his belief. In Wuyuan Forced Labour Camp, he was allowed to sleep for only two hours each day. He was forced to read slanderous material about Falun Gong. Eight guards wrapped Mr. Ma's arms with a rope, tied his hands behind his back, forced him to kneel on the ground, and pulled the rope to keep his body straight. The guards hit him hard on the chest and lower back with three electric batons. Mr. Ma lost control of his body and shook all over. His body turned black and blue from being hit. -
Mr. Du Ting Tortured at Tilanqiao Prison in Shanghai for Seven Years
2009-02-08Mr. Du Ting, 43, has been held at Tilanqiao Prison in Shanghai for more than seven years. He is very weak from long-term torture. In early 2007 the guards and inmates tortured Du Ting. He developed fluid accumulation in his pleural cavities, which nearly killed him, and he eventually contracted tuberculosis and pneumonia. The authorities refused to let his wife see him. Guards ordered inmates to keep torturing Du Ting. For a while Du Ting went on a hunger strike to protest the terrible abuse. After Du Ting returned to the prison from the hospital, the guards stripped him naked and tied him to the "death bed" so he could not move at all. -
Three Practitioners Die as a Result of Persecution in Chongqing City and Hebei Province
2009-02-08Ms. Pang Dingrong was a resident of Chongqing City. On October 3rd, 2007, she was arrested and detained while she was distributing leaflets exposing the persecution and telling people the facts about Falun Gong at Huangnibang. She was sentenced to one and a half years in the Shabao Forced Labour Camp in Chongqing City. While she was imprisoned, she began to suffer from a severe form of cancer, but that didn't deter the guards from brutally torturing her. Ms. Pang was released on August 21st, 2008 and passed away on December 26th, 2008 as a result of persecution.
