  • Details of the Persecution of Older Practitioner Ms. Qiu Xiu'e from Jinyun County, Zhejiang Province

    Ms. Qiu Xiu'e is a 56-year-old Falun Gong practitioner. She has been arrested and detained several times since the persecution of Falun Gong began in 1999. On February 3rd, 2004, Ms. Qiu was sentenced to a three-year jail term. She appealed and went on a hunger strike to protest this unjust sentence. As a result, both her hands and feet were handcuffed, and she was tied on a bed so that she could not move and later lost control of her bladder. On February 24th, she was tortured in Zhejiang Women's Prison. She was not allowed to sleep if she did not write the guarantee statement declaring that she gave up Falun Gong. She was personally monitored and forcibly brainwashed. Until May of 2008, officials withheld part of her pension for the time of her detention.
  • The Persecution of Ms. Hu Qiuxia in Jinzhou City Over the Past Nine Years

    Ms. Hu Qiuxia is a practitioner from Jinzhou City, Liaoning Province. Simply because she practises Falun Gong, she had been arrested five times and has been sentenced to forced labour once. Since the summer of 2002, she had to live away from home to avoid persecution. Her home was ransacked many times by the police and her husband lived in fear and was under continuous pressure from the police. He suffered illness as a result and passed away in October of 2007.
  • Three Older Practitioners Died As a Result of Persecution in Jining City, Shandong Province

    Ms. Liu Yuelan, 73, went to Beijing many times to appeal for Falun Gong. She was arrested in Beijing and tortured with handcuffs, brutal force-feeding, and was burned with cigarettes. She was also detained by the local police many times. Officers at the Nan'guan Station forced her to kneel down for more than two hours with her arms tied behind her back. She was forced to leave her home to avoid being arrested but was then arrested in the spring of 2001 by officers from the Liangshan County Police Department. She was in a forced labour camp for more than a year. She died on February 22nd, 2008.
  • Practitioners Shocked with High-Voltage Batons in Panjin Men's Prison, Liaoning Province

    The First Division of Panjin Prison in Liaoning Province is detaining 13 Falun Gong practitioners. On April 1st and 3rd, 2008, Chief Zhang Guolin called one practitioner at a time to an interrogation room with a dozen electric batons. The voltage of those batons ranges from 300,000 to 900,000 volts. Zhang Guolin and forced the practitioners to work, claiming they were being "reformed through labour". If a practitioner refused several guards handcuffed the practitioner and pushed him down on the ground. Every guard held two batons and stepped on the victim. The guards shocked the practitioner's body simultaneously with seven or eight electric batons, especially on the head, neck, chest, back, palms, soles, and inner thighs. The guards stabbed some practitioners with electric needles and passed a current through the needles.
  • Two Sisters and a Daughter Imprisoned for Six Years

    On July 8th, 2002, police from Shuangcheng Town, Heilongjiang Province ransacked practitioner Ms. Yan Shufen's home. They arrested her, her younger sister Yan Shuhua, and her daughter Wang Lili. Seven months later, in February 2003, the three practitioners were sentenced to 15 years, 14 years and 13 years in jail respectively. They have been in jail for five years and their family members have been deprived of the right to see them.
  • Ms. Zhang Xiulan from Xining City, Qinghai Province, Arrested

    On May 13th, 2008, Falun Gong practitioners Ms. Zhang Xiulan, in her 50s, her sister, Ms. Zhang Xiuchun, and four other people, including their parents, were arrested by police officers from Chaoyang Police Station after the officers broke into their home. Ms. Zhang Xiulan is still detained in the Ershilipu Detention Centre but the others have been released. The officers ransacked the homes of Ms. Zhang Xiulan, Ms. Zhang Xiuchun, and Ms. Xiao Ruan and stole personal items.
  • Mr. Liu Quan Dies in Dalian City Prison, Liaoning Province

    Mr. Liu Quan, 52, was a Falun Gong practitioner who lived in Benxi City, Liaoning Province. On the morning of May 4th, 2008, the Nan'guanling Prison Administration in Dalian City called his family, and told them that Mr. Liu had died at 2:00 a.m. due to a sudden heart attack. His family viewed his body on May 5th, 2008. They found that his face was yellow, the flesh around his eyes and lips was purple, there were large purple bruises on his back, and his nose was filled with cotton balls. After Liu Quan's body was cremated, the family noticed that the ash appeared very dark, suggesting that he may have been poisoned.
  • Large Scale Arrests and Harassment of Practitioners in Shouguang City

    Since March 2008 the authorities in Shouguang City have been carrying out large-scale persecution and arrests of Falun Gong practitioners. On March 25th, 2008, Shouguang City Police broke into 60-year-old practitioner Zhang Zedong's home in Xiguan Village and arrested him. Then, they sent Zhang Zedong to the detention centre. On April 2nd, 2008 the Shouguang City Television Station broadcast a meeting of local Chinese Communist Party (CCP) officials showing city CCP Committee Secretary Liu Zhonghui making arrangements to persecute practitioners. Immediately after, he held a city-level meeting to devise a plan to persecute Falun Gong practitioners.
  • Persecution Cases Involving Falun Gong Practitioners from Pingshan County, Hebei Province

    In July 2000, Mr. Sun went to Tiananmen Square in Beijing to appeal, and was arrested by the local police. He was sent to a police station and was interrogated and tortured. This included being shocked with an electric baton for eleven hours. He was then taken to the Shijiazhuang Liaison Office in Beijing. The officers there subsequently beat him so hard that his mouth was bleeding. They cuffed him to a chair for one night and sent him back to the County Police Department by bus. At the County Police Department, Sun Sanlong was interrogated and beaten by police officers. Mr. Sun was delivered to the County Detention Centre, and imprisoned for 26 days, and extorted out of 1200 yuan before being released. He has been arrested, detained and tortured on many occasions since.
  • Changsha Practitioner Ms. He Xianggu Sent to a Forced Labour Camp a Fourth Time

    Falun Gong practitioner Ms. He Xianggu from Changsha City is a nurse at the Hunan Province Women and Children Health Centre. On the evening of April 23rd, 2008, she was arrested at her home by police from the Wujialing Police Station in Changsha City. Her home was also searched. Then she was detained in the Changsha City Detention Centre. It was the eighth time she was arrested. By May 10th, 2008, she had been on a hunger strike for 17 days. On that day, after being forcibly injected with an unknown drug.
  • Two Brothers and a Sister Arrested and Tortured

    Mr. Fu Hongru is over 50 years old and lives in Tonghua City, Jilin Province. On April 23rd, 2008, he was arrested by the Tuanjie police and for the next two days was shocked with electric batons and beaten. When he was taken to the Changliu Detention Centre on April 25th, he was covered with cuts and bruises. To cover up the truth, the police officers wrote on the arrest warrant that he was arrested on April 25th. Fu Hongru's brother, Fu Hongjian, 46, and sister, Fu Lisa, were also arrested. Mr. Fu Hongjian was so brutally tortured that he was unable to walk.
  • 15 Practitioners and Family Members Arrested in Beijing

    On May 14th, 2008, three police officers broke into Liu Baoguo's home. The police ransacked his home and then arrested him and tenant Jingjing. Their whereabouts is unknown. Liu Baoguo's home is in a mess because of the police ransacking. Since Liu Baoguo is a well-known honest fellow, his bitter experience has raised public anger. After experiencing constant harassment, Liu Guifu, wife of Liu Baoguo, moved abroad in forced exile. Liu Baoguo stopped practising Falun Gong when the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) started persecuting Falun Gong in 1999 because he was afraid of what the CCP would do to him and his family.
  • Following Years of Persecution, His Wife Already in a Labour Camp, Disabled Man in His 60's is Arrested in Mengyin County, Shandong Province

    On May 9th, 2008, Falun Gong practitioner Li Zongping, a disabled elderly man was arrested by police officers from the local 610 Office and Jushan Police Station. Before this happened, his wife Wang Fafeng had been sentenced to eighteen months in a labour camp. She was sent to the No.1 Women´s Labour Camp in Shandong Province on January 28th, 2008. During the nine years of persecution of Falun Gong, the couple has been arrested several times. Their home was searched by police. Authorities have extorted a total of 9260 Yuan from them in so-called "fines."
  • Ms. Zhong Fangqiong Tortured in National Security Division of the Wuhou District Police Department in Chengdu City, Sichuan Provence

    Practitioner Ms. Zhong Fangqiong was arrested on August 1st, 2007 and sent to Chengdu City Detention Centre. Because Ms. Zhong did not cooperate with the police they beat her and used equipment to stab Ms. Zhong's lower back and thighs each time for about an hour. When she fainted, he would apply a stinging hot mustard-like chemical on her upper and lower eyelids, temples, inside her nose and even in her mouth. Every inch of her skin touched by the chemical developed a rash, swelling, and peeling skin.
  • Police in Linjiang City, Jilin Province Arrest Numerous Falun Gong Practitioners, as well as Ransack Their Homes and Extort Money from Family Members

    Beginning in 2008, officials from the Linjiang City Police Department and those from the Senlin Police Department in Linjiang City have continually harassed and arrested practitioners. Practitioner Chi Minbao has been continually persecuted at the hands of officials from the Linjiang City Police Department for many years. The police tried to arrest him again recently. Chi Minbao decided to live away from home to avoid further persecution. Furthermore, the police also threatened, extorted money and ransacked the residence of practitioners Jiang Ying and Jiang Mingli and confiscated their personal belongings.
