  • Weifang Communist Agents Detain and Brutally Torture Li Tianmin and All Five Members of His Family

    Li Tianmin and his family live in Weifang City, Shandong Province. They are all Falun Gong practitioners. On October 11th, 2007, all five of Mr. Li's family members and relatives were once again arrested by Chinese Communist Party (CCP) government officials. At present, Mr. Li Tianmin is being detained in the Weifang Detention Centre; his wife, Ms. Lou Hongmei, has been sentenced to two years of forced labour and is in the notorious Wang Village Forced Labour Camp; and his mother-in-law was detained in the 610 Office in Weifang awaiting brainwashing sessions. While detained, she was tortured, and her former illnesses relapsed and she was sent home. Li Tianmin's brother-in-law was also sentenced to two years of forced labour and detained in Zhangqiu Forced Labour Camp. His sister-in-law was also detained in a detention centre but has been released.

    The employees who are practitioners have been lied to and threatened, their homes ransacked, and have been incarcerated in sub-zero temperatures, subjected to face slapping, attacks with electric stun batons, and deprivation of food and sleep. They have also been punched and kicked, force-fed with hard liquor, imprisoned for extended periods of time, forced to stand for long hours, chained to water pipes for long hours, financially extorted, etc. In addition, the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) staff members have threatened to fire Falun Gong practitioners if they should refuse to renounce Falun Gong.
  • Several Practitioners on Hunger Strike to Protest the Persecution in the Second Prison of Shenyang City, Liaoning Province

    Mr. Zhang Peng was sentenced to seven years in prison by Liaoyang City Court for making leaflets exposing the persecution. Guards of Shenyang City Second Prison conducted a body search on Mr. Zhang looking for Falun Gong materials. To protest the persecution, Mr. Zhang started a hunger strike on November 28th, 2007. Mr. Li Shujun also went on a hunger strike the same day. Another practitioner, Mr. Meng Hua of Fushun City, detained in a different ward, went on hunger strike to protest the persecution, too.
  • Police from Mencun Town Police Station in Pingdu City, Shandong Province, Harassed and Arrested Many Falun Gong Practitioners

    In the autumn of 2005, Ms. Feng Yuping was arrested at a market and taken to the Pingdu City 610 Office for brainwashing. Without any criminal evidence, she was admitted to the Zibo City Forced Labour Camp in Shandong Province for one and a half years. Ms. Feng Yuping's mind has become dazed due to the torture. Also in 2005, police from Mencun Town Police Station and the staff from the Pingdu City 610 Office arrested Ms. Guo Huisheng. She was tortured at the Pingdu City 610 Office for two months. Her family had several thousand yuan extorted from them in exchange for her release.
  • A Practitioner in Her 70s Arrested Six Times in Six Years for Exposing the Persecution

    I'm 75 years old and live in Daying County, Sichuan Province. I began to practise Falun Gong in June 1998. Many illnesses that I used to have disappeared without a trace. Since July 20th, 1999, Jiang Zemin, [former leader of China and instigator of the persecution] and the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) have been relentless in persecuting Falun Gong. I've been distributing leaflets exposing the persecution and telling people the facts about Falun Gong for the past eight years. Almost every year they have come to ransack my house and arrest me. Duringone arrest a policeman shouted at me: "How dare you go against the CCP! We will beat you to death."
  • Mr. Sun Hongkai Sent to Labour Camp After Completing a Four-Year Prison Term

    Mr. Sun Hongkai, a practitioner in his 30s, was sentenced to four years in prison for distributing leaflets exposing the persecution and telling people the facts about Falun Gong. He was released at the end of 2006. At the beginning of 2007, he went to Beijing to support himself by doing odd jobs. The police suspected that he had come to Beijing to appeal on behalf of Falun Dafa, so they arrested him and sent him to a labour camp for a two-and-a-half year term.
  • Mr. Gao Zhenhai, a Farmer in Xin County, Shandong Province, Taken Away and Imprisoned

    Since practising Falun Gong, Mr. Gao Zhenhai strictly adhered to to the great universal law of "Truthfulness, Compassion, Tolerance." He considered other people first, and people in his village all called him "a genuinely good person." On October 12th, 2007, several police jumped into Mr. Gao's yard. They then wantonly kicked in the door, forced themselves into the dwelling, and proceeded to beat and then arrest Gao Zhenhai. They also unlawfully searched his house and confiscated his property. They did not present any legal documents during the entire episode, and both their comments and behaviour were extremely crude and thuggish. In the subsequent days, Mr. Gao was taken to the Public Security Bureau and brutally tortured. The torture left him emaciated and it was difficult for him to walk. Mr. Gao has been sentenced to one and a half years and of imprisonment.
  • Mr. Liu Yongwang Very Weak from One and a Half Year Hunger Strike at Yidong Prison, Hebei Province

    Detained Falun Gong Practitioner Mr. Liu Yongwang has been on hunger strike at the Yidong Prison in Hebei Province for a year and a half. He is very weak now. In 2001, Mr. Liu was transferred to the Baoding Forced Labour Camp. On October 13th, 2002, guards took him into a room used to torture those practitioners who did not give up Falun Gong. The guards use various torture methods on him: electrical shocks, beating with rubber clubs and "tightening rope."* As a result, he lost one of his front teeth. Long time electrical shocking on his head and sensitive parts of his legs filled the room with the odour of burning flesh. He was tortured non-stop for three days. Then the abusers immobilised him on a metal bed with his four limbs stretched around the clock. He was kept in this position for twenty-one days.
  • Tortures Currently Taking Place at the No. 5 Division of Changlinzi Forced Labour Camp in Harbin City, Heilongjiang Province

    Officials at Changlinzi Forced Labour Camp pretend to promote a so-called "division in harmony," while actually escalating the persecution against practitioners. Wang Kai (male), the division head, has ordered arbitrary body searches. He has also instigated other inmates to give practitioners a hard time and ordered labour camp guards to torture practitioners with electric-shock batons. On June 24th, 2007, Wang Kai, head of the No. 5 Division, tortured practitioner Mr. Liu Jingzhou with an electric baton, locked practitioner Mr. Gong Wenyi in a "small cell" and tied him to an "iron chair", and tortured practitioner Mr. Lang Xianguo with an electric baton while he was chained to an iron chair.
  • Xinkaipu Forced Labour Camp: Conditions the International Community Cannot Imagine

    Practitioners being held in Xinkaipu Forced Labour Camp make various commercial products. The camp workshops are full of dust and rubbish. The conditions are unsanitary and not suitable for any kind of production. However, food wrappers are made here, including those used for ready-to-eat food. Some criminal (non-practitioner) inmates even intentionally put mucus and faeces on the wrappers to vent their grievances. Guard Wu Bin admitted that this kind of illegal profit-making couldn't happen in Western countries, and is unimaginable to the international community. The cruelty that goes on inside is also not found in any other civilised society. The camp doctors act like they are treating animals, and the guards are killing machines.
  • Chen Yujiang Has Been Persecuted to the Verge of Death

    Chen Yujiang, 27 years old, has used various means to inform people about the true nature of Falun Gong and dispel communist party propaganda about Falun Gong. On December 1st, 2004 he was sent to Xinjiang No. 5 Jail. Chen Yujiang began a hunger strike. On December 6th he was sent to the jail hospital but still suffered persecution. Chen continued the hunger strike until February 2007. During that time the jail arranged for prisoners to assist the guards in the persecution. Besides forced transfusions, the guards mainly used forced feeding through a nasal tube. Two months later they switched to a crueller method of open-mouth tube forced feeding. Chen was locked into a small cell twice, although he was very weak due to his hunger strike. Chen Yujiang has developed tuberculosis of the lungs since his imprisonment. His life is in danger.
  • Ms. Li Ying from Shaanxi Province and Mr. Cui Chengming from Shanxi Province Died as a Result of Persecution

    Ms. Li Ying was 61 years old. In 2002, Ms. Li appealed for the right to practise Falun Dafa. Consequently, she was detained in the Xi'an City Brainwashing Centre, where she was beaten and shocked with an electric baton. She held a hunger strike to protest the persecution, and her health was seriously weakened. After Ms. Li was released, she was monitored for a long time. A local police officer regularly called her and visited her to threaten and harass her. Ms. Li's health deteriorated, and she passed away on October 11th, 2007. Mr. Cui Chengming was 64 years old. His whole family suffered serious persecution. His wife Zhang Guizhen was detained three times. In 2004, she was sentenced to forced labour for three years. During this period, Mr. Cui was repeatedly harassed by the authorities. His health deteriorated and he passed away on November 21st, 2007.
  • Li Dianqin's Family Worried for Her Safety After She Is Detained for Over a Month

    Ms. Li Dianqin, 56, was arrested by police in October 2007 while she was distributing distributing leaflets exposing the persecution. Ms. Li was taken to the Shenyang Detention Centre. Over the past month there has not been any more information about her. Her family are very worried about her well-being. Over the past few years Ms. Li has previously been subjected to savage torture in a forced labour camp. The police said to her, "The Chinese Communist Party forbids you to practise; you would be better off stealing or even committing robbery!"
  • "Committing Suicide to Escape Punishment" Given as the Cause of Elderly Mr. Qi's Death, Family's Appeal Stalled

    Twenty days have passed since Mr. Qi Tingsong's death, as a result of inhuman torture. His ill and grieving wife went to the departments concerned every day to appeal on her husband's behalf. However, the Laiwu City Procuratorate said they would only hear the case when she was able to present a ruling on the cause of death provided by the police department. Laiwu Police Department said they would not provide any ruling for her. Mr. Qi Tingsong, 67 years old, was arrested on October 15th, 2007 and taken to Laiwu City Hospital on November 5th for emergency treatment. The following day, the hospital issued a "Notice of Critical Illness." The medical exam showed that Mr. Qi Tingsong had internal organ failure, upper digestive tract hemorrhaging, and severe internal injuries. Mr. Qi Tingsong passed away in hospital on November 11th.
  • The Persecution of Practitioner Li Ruixia at Harbin Women's Forced Labour Camp for Drug Addicts

    The labour camp forced practitioners to work extremely long hours. The worst case was when they were ordered to work in the basement mending flax cloth. They worked 14-15 hours a day for a month. Some practitioners were so tired that their eyes would not stop watering. The ventilation in the basement was very bad. In the hottest summer days, the practitioners felt suffocated and had difficulty breathing, and they asked the guard to let them take a break. The guard asked the supervisor but was refused. A while later, the guard himself felt dizzy, nauseous, and short of breath, and complained that he could not hold on anymore. Only then did the supervisor let them take a break. Aside from mending flax cloth, the practitioners also sorted leaves, chopsticks, toothpicks, and had to make handicrafts. Sometimes they had to work through the night.
