It has been eight months since Charles was arrested in January 2003. The treatment, the sentence, and the torture of Charles reflects the escalation of the overall persecution of Falun Gong and practitioners that was started in July 1999 by Jiang Zemin's regime. The North American global rescue team designed and organised the "Activity of Rescuing Charles Lee Month." It will start on August 13, 2003 and end on September 13, 2003. -
Australia: Premier of the Film Three Women
2003-08-19Three Women tells the touching real-life story of the joys and hardships of three young Chinese women, two of whom are Australian citizens. All are living in Australia. After having enjoyed peaceful and happy lives, these three women's families were shattered during the persecution of Falun Gong in China, which began in 1999. Vina, the producer, said that she was inspired by the brave hearts of these three women in their decision to speak out about their experiences. -
United States: "Car Tour Around the US to Rescue Charles Li" Arrives at Oregon State and Receives Many Interviews from Media

Many local media including newspapers, radio stations and TV stations interviewed us in depth. Five of us held a picture exhibition in front of Eureka County Government Office on the morning of August 14. We also submitted materials about Charles Li's arrest and this rescue effort to many county officials. -
United States: Practitioners Win First Prize Award in Local Mountain Festival in Seattle

The practitioners demonstrated the Falun Dafa exercises and performed dances in Tang Dynasty costumes to show the audience the long and beautiful traditional Chinese culture and the peacefulness and goodness of Falun Dafa. Japan: Practitioners Appeal During Chinese Foreign Minister's Visit to Japan: Stop Persecuting Yoko Kaneko
2003-08-16The meeting between Li and the Japanese Foreign Minister was taking place in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Dafa practitioners stood outside, holding banners and sending forth righteous thoughts. Some practitioners held banners stating, "Stop the persecution of Falun Gong," and "Immediately release Yoko Kaneko" on the road where Li's motorcade would pass on the way to Prime Minister Koizumi 's mansion. -
United States: Practitioners Collect Signatures and Clarify the Truth of Falun Gong During the Seventh International Dragon Boat Festival
2003-08-16The Seventh International Dragon Boat Festival was held on August 9 to August 10 at Jack London Square in Oakland, California. 32 teams with over 700 competitors took part in the event. The festival drew over 15,000 people from the Bay Area. A Falun Dafa booth was set up at the Square's entrance. Practitioners from Oakland and other areas started a signature drive to rescue Charles Li and also enthusiastically introduced Falun Gong to visitors. -

Taiwan: Support from All Over Taiwan as Falun Gong Practitioners Worldwide Take Legal Action Against Jiang Zemin
2003-08-14This July 20 marked the fourth year of the persecution of Falun Gong in China. This year, using a new approach to oppose the persecution, Falun Gong practitioners launched a campaign to bring Jiang to justice, charging him with genocide and torture of Falun Gong practitioners. Events with this theme were held in Taipei and Kaohsiung on July 20. Many people attended these activities and showed their support for Falun Gong
