Several Practitioners from Zhaoyuan City, Shandong Province Secretly Imprisoned
2011-05-30Zhaoyuan City 610 Office officials (an organisation of special agents just for persecuting Falun Gong) in Shandong Province, together with other local Chinese Communist Party (CCP) officials, sent five practitioners to Jinan Women’s Prison on April 12th. Zhaoyuan officials held two secret court hearings for the practitioners on December 5th and December 21st, 2010. They prohibited defence attorneys from attending the hearings and did not allow family members to come, either. The practitioners were sentenced to imprisonment with terms ranging from four to eight years. -
Falun Gong Practitioner Liang Huiling Arrested Seven Times Before Passing Away
2011-05-30Falun Gong practitioner Liang Huiling was persecuted by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) many times during past 11 years, which caused her not only physical injury, but also mental trauma. She was involved in a car accident before the 2011 Chinese New Year that resulted in three major surgeries, and she was in critical condition. Her daughter took care of her, and she recovered somewhat. But on March 30th, 2011, police arrested her daughter, also a Falun Gong practitioner, which caused even further mental trauma for Ms. Liang. Her condition quickly worsened, and she passed away on April 26th. -
Masanjia Labour Camp Uses “Stretching Torture” and Forced Drug Injection to Persecute Practitioners
2011-05-30The Masanjia Forced Labour Camp in Liaoning Province has been persecuting Falun Gong practitioners to try to “transform” [forcibly renounce Falun Gong] them. Since October 20th, 2010, the labour camp has been using a so-called “re-education evaluation test” to slander Falun Gong, forcing practitioners to slander Falun Gong and its founder, Mr. Li Hongzhi. Those practitioners refusing to cooperate were taken to what is referred to as the East Tower Building to undergo the “stretching torture” and forced drug injections. More than ten practitioners were subjected to this type of torture method. -
Ms. Tuo Meiling of Lingwu, Ningxia Suffers Mental Breakdown from Forced Drug Administration
2011-05-29Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Tuo was arrested by local police in 2003, then sentenced to three and a half years in prison. She was detained at Yinchuan Women's Prison. Guards subjected her to brainwashing sessions in their attempts to force her to give up her Falun Gong practice. She was placed in solitary confinement for extended periods, handcuffed, and secretly administered drugs daily, which caused damage to her nervous system. The forced injections resulted in a serious mental disorder. By the time she was released in 2006, she'd lost the capability to take care of herself, and her husband divorced her. -
Liao Peimin, In Her Fifties, Arrested and Held at Chengdu City's Jinhua Brainwashing Centre
2011-05-29Police monitored Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Liao Peimin and her daughter over a 24-hour period on April 26th. They also cut off water and electricity to her apartment. The next day, police tricked Ms. Liao into opening the door. A dozen policemen forced their way into her home, grabbed her and dragged her to a waiting vehicle. During the commotion, her daughter yelled: “Help! We're being kidnapped!” A heavy-set policeman wearing glasses slapped her face hard and threatened her. Ms. Liao is currently held at the Chengdu City Jinhua Brainwashing Centre. Since the Chinese communist regime began to persecute Falun Gong practitioners in July 1999, Ms. Liao has been arrested and subjected to brainwashing many times. -
Professor Zhang Fengqian Unable to Think Coherently After Abuse at Brainwashing Facility
2011-05-29Mr. Zhang Fengqian, a professor at the Department of Philosophy, Zhongshan University, has been held in the Sanshui Brainwashing Centre for a year. Guangdong Province 610 Office (an organisation of special agents just for persecuting Falun Gong) intervened to direct the persecution due to Mr. Zhang's influence in the academic community. Mr. Zhang is currently unable to think coherently as a result of mistreatment. Personnel from the brainwashing centre used all kinds of methods attempting to transform [forcibly renounce Falun Gong] him. Mr. Zhang started practising Falun Gong in early 2010. Authorities arrested him as he spoke with people about Falun Gong and took him to a brainwashing facility in May 2010. Mr. Zhang had been on a hunger strike to protest the persecution. -
Falun Gong Practitioner Dr. Xue Xinglong Given 12 Years of Imprisonment and Still Detained, and Other Persecution Cases
2011-05-29One evening in November 2001, Falun Gong practitioner Dr. Xue Xinglong painted “Falun Gong is Good -- Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance is Good” along the Xinhua riverbank. Later that month police arrested Dr. Xue and extorted confessions from him by cruelly torturing him using means including hanging by handcuffs, excessive stretching of legs, electric shock and brutal beatings, causing great harm to his body and mind. Dr. Xue was sentenced to 12 years imprisonment. -
Zichuan District Court Secretly Sentences Ms. Ma Xifang
2011-05-28The Zichuan District Court in Zibo City, Shandong Province secretly convened and tried Falun Gong practitioner Ma Xifang on April 12th. During the hearing, Ma Xifang fainted when she heard that her elderly mother had collapsed and was bedridden because she wasn't allowed to see her daughter for such a long time. The hearing was immediately terminated. Police officers arrested Ma Xifang when she was explaining facts about Falun Gong on December 6th, 2010. She was later detained at the Zibo Detention Centre. Her family has not yet been allowed to visit her. -
Ms. Liu Yujing Put on Trial, Officials Prevent Family from Attending the Hearing
2011-05-28The Shizhong District Court of Jinan City put Ms. Liu Yujing on trial on May 6th. However, Ms. Liu's husband and daughter were refused entry into the court. Ms. Liu was arrested last November and taken to Jinan Detention Centre. Ms. Liu's husband, Mr. Tian Fengyu, got a hearing permit on the afternoon of May 5th. Mr. Tian received phone calls from the court informing him that his right to attend the trial was revoked, as he had testified in March. Therefore, he could not attend the trial at this time. -
Several Falun Gong Practitioners Given Harsh Sentences by the Wuling District Court in Changde City, Hunan Province
2011-05-28Several Falun Gong practitioners were sentenced for practising Falun Gong by the Wuling District Court in Changde City,on November 4th, 2010. They were Ms. Liu Xianju, sentence of 10 years; Ms. Li Fangyun, 9.5 years; Mr. Wang Xiaohui, 9 years; Mr. Li Haijun, 8.5 years; Mr. Liu Huiping, 7.5 years; Ms. Zeng Lihua, 7 years; Mr. Man Sanqing, 5 years; Ms. Chen Lingci, 3 years. The court didn't even bother to get signatures from those who were sentenced, and the "verdicts" were casually handed out when the trial ended. The practitioners asked that their cases be retried. The Wuling District Court set the new trial date for March 30th, 2011. -
The 610 Office in Linyi City, Shandong Province Arrests Three Practitioners
2011-05-28Three practitioners were recently arrested in April by perpetrators from the 610 Office (an organisation of special agents just for persecuting Falun Gong) in Linyi City. They are Ms. Li Hua, Mr. Zhang Fengjun and Mr. Ji Zhongsheng. They are currently being held at the Linyi Brainwashing Centre. Meanwhile, practitioner Xu Zengheng’s family was harassed. A total of eight practitioners have been detained at the Linyi Brainwashing Centre. -
Elderly Falun Gong practitioner Gao Deyu Imprisoned and in Critical Condition
2011-05-27Ms. Gao Deyu, 70, is from Xichang City, Sichuan Province. She has suffered over a decade of persecution by the Chinese communist regime for her belief in Falun Gong. Ms. Gao was arrested on September 26th, 2009. On September 14th, 2010, the Xichang Court sentenced her to 12 years in prison. On April 10th, 2011, she was transferred from the Liangshanzhou Detention Centre to the Longquanyi Women's Prison in Chengdu. After two days in the prison, Ms. Gao's condition became critical. In hospital it was noted that one of her teeth had been knocked out, and that her hands, arms, and legs were covered with purple bruises from beatings. -
Police Officers from Shijingshan District in Beijing Break into Ms. Dong Xinzhen's Home Without a Warrant
2011-05-27On January 11th, 2011, police broke into Falun Gong practitioner Dong Xinzhen's home. Her personal belongings were confiscated, and she was detained for one and a half months. Ms. Dong has suffered serious physical and mental persecution. On January 12th, Dong Xinzhen was sent to the Shijingshan District Detention Centre. During her detention, she was humiliated and cursed at by the inmates and guards. She started a hunger strike but the detention centre refused to release her. The detention centre's ordered inmates to hold her down so that the centre's doctor could force-feed her with soy milk and unknown drugs. The doctor even punched her during the process. The force-feeding caused Ms. Dong to lose teeth and vomit blood. -
Older Falun Gong Practitioner Liang Yuying Tortured in Xinxiang Women's Prison, Henan Province
2011-05-27Ms. Liang Yuying, a Falun Gong practitioner in her sixties, was detained at Xinxiang Women's Prison for over one year. She became very weak due to the torture she suffered in prison. Ms. Liang was previously tortured for three years at the same prison, from 2005 to 2008. She was placed in solitary confinement for three months, during which time she was tortured by guards. She was tied to a chair, and then guards stuffed her mouth so that she couldn't make a sound. They then blocked her nose, preventing her from breathing. -
Several Dozen Practitioners Arrested in Zunhua City, Hebei Province
2011-05-27Officers from Zunhua City Police Department arrested around 50 Falun Gong practitioners on May 10th. More than 20 are still detained. Police ransacked Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Wang Shuyun's home and family-owned photography studio in Puzidian Town and took equipment including a computer, printer, and copier, among other personal property.
