  • Ms. Wu Yefeng from Shenyang City Detained for Six Months, Whereabouts Unknown

    Ms. Wu Yefeng is a practitioner from Shenyang City, Liaoning Province. The police arrested her on June 15th, 2008, detained her in Shenyang Detention Centre and subjected her to force-feeding. She was so brutally abused that at one point she was close to death. The Procuratorate Office planned to sentence her. Six months have passed and no information on her recent whereabouts has been released.
  • A Well Known Ice-Hockey Coach is Arrested and Sentenced to Imprisonment

    Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Gao Weixi, 70 years old, is an ice-hockey coach at the national level in China. He was arrested by police on May 9th, 2007, and detained at the No. 3 Detention Centre in Changchun. On April 29th, 2008, the Court of Nanguan District in Changchun City secretly tried Gao Weixi and sentenced him to seven years of imprisonment. Gao Weixi refused to sign the court verdict. Instead, he appealed to the Changchun City Court, demanding justice. Gao Weixi was transferred to the Shiling Prison in Siping City in November 2008.
  • The Persecution of Falun Gong Practitioners in the Dayangshu Region of Inner Mongolia

    On May 19th, 2002, police ransacked a a site producing Falun Gong leaflets exposing the persecution and Ms. Li Haiyan was arrested. Because she refused to tell the police her name and address during the interrogation, she was viciously beaten for 14 hours, resulting in cuts and bruises covering her body. They tied her to a "tiger bench" and hit her with a metal belt. There were purple bruises all over her back, and she couldn't walk on her own. The police officers also inserted a lit cigarette into her nose and poured alcohol into her mouth. Ms. Li went on a hunger strike for more than 20 days to protest her persecution, and she was only met with punitive forced-feeding that harmed her even further. On January 13th, 2005, Ms. Li died, unable to recover from the brutal torture that she had suffered.
  • Elderly Couple From Chaoyang County, Liaoning Province Suffering Long-Term Harassment by Police

    Lalatun Village, Chaoyang County, Liaoning Province is the home of an elderly couple, Mr. Li Guifang who is 75 years old and Ms. Xi Qingjie who is 72 years old. Before practising Falun Gong, neither of them was in good health. After cultivating Falun Gong, they changed a lot physically. Especially for Xi Qingjie, she recovered from all kinds of diseases. When the persecution was launched against the Falun Gong practitioners, they told the people that were deceived by the Chinese Communist Party's (CCP) lies about the spiritual and health benefits from cultivating Falun Gong. However, they were reported by their landlord. Police extorted money from them, intimidated and harassed them frequently.
  • Police Arrest Dozens of Practitioners' Relatives and Friends during Trial in Mudanjiang City

    On November 28th, 2008, the Heilongjiang Provincial Mudanjiang Municipal Xi'an District Court held a trial against four Falun Gong practitioners. Relatives and friends of these four practitioners came to the court, their IDs were inspected, and only the practitioners' close family members were allowed to enter. Some of the people who were not allowed to watch the trial went to negotiate with the court staff, but they were threatened by court personnel using very coarse language. The police started to arrest the relatives and friends who were peacefully waiting to hear the result of the trial without explanation.

    When my two older sisters and I were arrested and sent to a detention centre, harshly punished, beaten, and forced to do hard labour, our father's hair turned grey overnight. When one of my older sisters, who was persecuted to the verge of death, was again arrested, our mother cried and shouted bitterly. She attempted to lie under the wheels of a car to stop her daughter's persecution. In a detention centre I was forced to do hard labour every day, and if I didn't finish my work on time, the guards deprived me of sleep. Only a small amount of hard rice noodles, which were cooked without any oil, was provided, and I saw insects floating in the muddy vegetable soup.
  • Mr. Lin Huiguo from Zhejiang Province Sentenced to Three-Year Prison Term--His Wife on the Verge of Death

    The 610 Office and police department of Wenling City, in Zhejiang Province repeatedly arrest and detain Falun Gong practitioners, ransack their homes and disturb the normal lives of practitioners and their families. Between May and October 2008, thirteen practitioners were arrested. Among them, two were sent to brainwashing centres and the rest were sent to the detention centre. In May 2008, Mr. Lin Huiguo was arrested while he was posting "Falun Gong is Good, Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance is Good" signs on utility poles in a village. He was detained at the Wenling Detention Centre. His wife was also arrested and taken to the Detention Centre. After being tortured for about a month, she had been badly injured both physically and mentally.
  • Mr. Liu Wangquan Imprisoned for Five Years--Deyang Prison Authorities Deny Visitation Rights

    Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Liu Wangquan from Weiyuan, Sichuan Province was sentenced to eight years of imprisonment in 2003. As of today, he has been held in Deyang Prison for five years. During his imprisonment, Mr. Liu's family has been allowed to visit him only once. The prison authorities have denied him all other family visits. The family's request to deliver some warm clothes to Mr. Liu for the winter was also denied. His current situation is unknown, and no one knows if Mr. Liu is still alive.
  • Ms. Lu Guiling from Weihai City, Shandong Province, Brutally Persecuted

    Ms. Lu Guiling, 48, was arrested and brutally persecuted repeatedly because she distributed leaflets exposing the persecution of Falun Gong to the public. On November 12th, 2008, she was arrested at her home by police. Ms. Lu was subsequently sentenced to 19 years in prison. She is currently in the Shandong Province Women's Prison and being subjected to brutal persecution.
  • Older Practitioner Ms. Xu Yanling Tortured in Wuchang City Prison, Heilongjiang Province

    Ms. Xu Yanling is a 51-year-old Falun Gong practitioner. From day one of practising Falun Gong, she adhered to the principles of "Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance," followed high moral standards and always thought of others first with anything she did or said. Nonetheless, a nice person like Ms. Yu was tortured by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP). She is no longer paid for work performed, has been arrested three times, and imprisoned and tortured. The persecution of Ms. Xu has also affected her elderly parents. Her mother became sick from worry and her father has aged considerably.
  • Calling for the Immediate Release of Mr. Yao Tiebin and Ms. Zhang Fengrong

    On July 14th, police arrested Falun Gong practitioners Mr. Yao Tiebin and his wife Ms. Zhang Fengrong. They stole 13,000 yuan in cash, a gold necklace, gold ring and a pair of gold earrings from the couple. To cover up their crime, without allowing the couple to read the pre-written statement they had brought, the officers forced the couple to sign it and put their fingerprint on it. When the couple refused to cooperate with this unreasonable demand, the police brutally beat them. The police used this fabricated statement as their "evidence" to persecute the couple. On November 21st, 2008, the trial was held in the Nongken Court.
  • The Persecution of Practitioner Couple Lu Yaobin and Zhao Chunjie and Their Daughters from Gongzhuling City

    Falun Gong practitioner Lu Yaobin and his wife Zhao Chunjie were arrested on October 22nd, 2008. Ms. Zhao Chunjie has been detained for nearly 50 days. She is weak and thin, and is bedridden due to mistreatment in the detention centre. Mr. Lu Yaobin has been released, but the police attempted to arrest him again. He now has to stay away from home to avoid further persecution and arrest. The police beat Mr. Lu Yaobin in front of a crowd of several dozens of people before arresting and taking him away. They also brutally beat him during their interrogation, which caused him to be unable to work or to take care of his daughters after he was released.
  • Authorities of Dayangshu Town in Hulunbuir Prefecture Launched Another Round of Arrests in November

    At about 3 p.m. on November 19th, 2008, authorities from Dayangshu Town dispatched 9 police cars and nearly 30 police officers to carry out a premeditated plan to search the homes of nine practitioners and arrest them. Police officers were heavily armed. The police searched their homes and arrested the practitioners. Elderly and disabled family members were upset and frightened by the incident.
  • Two Elderly Practitioners Ms. Zhang Guiyun from Heilongjiang Province and Mr. Li Hongxi from Hebei Province Die under Persecution

    On May 7th, 2008, Xushui County Domestic Security agents intruded into 67-year-old Mr. Li Hongxi's home. They ransacked his place and took his possessions worth 1000 yuan. He was arrested later at his workplace. The police detained Mr. Li for 11 days in the Xushui County Detention Centre. They harmed him both physically and mentally when they tried to take him to the Baoding City Forced Labour Camp. He appeared absent minded after that. He had symptoms of a bloated stomach and fluid accumulation around the liver. He never recovered and died on November 25th, 2008.
  • Ms. Zhang Yukun Severely Tortured and Driven into Homelessness by the Persecution

    Since July 20th, 1999, 49-year-old Ms. Zhang Yukun has suffered from persistent persecution by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP). Her husband was coerced by CCP officials into divorcing her. She was detained, force-fed and tortured in various ways and imprisoned in a forced labour camp. She remains homeless in order to escape severe persecution. In 2004, police broke into Zhang Yukun's home and took her to a brainwashing centre. They had Ms. Zhang's arms stretched out and handcuffed between two beds. Then tortured her mercilessly both physically and mentally. An officer cursed her and viciously hit her with a plastic pipe that was two inches in diameter until late in the night.
