• Jilin Municipal Public Security Bureau Uses Perverse Methods to Torture Falun Gong Practitioners (Illustrations)

  Torture method: Police officers use a plastic bag to cover a practitioner's head which makes the practitioner unable to breathe and feel dizzy. They then tie the practitioner's hands behind his back with one hand over the shoulder and the other one against the lower back. The police apply a great deal of force to pull the two hands toward one another and handcuff the two hands together. This torture generates extreme pain for the practitioner.

• A Practitioner in China Demonstrates Some of the Tortures Frequently Used on Practitioners in Detention

  The torturers at the forced labour camps often bind detained Falun Gong practitioners to a ladder, forcing them to "sit parallel on the ladder" for extended periods of time. Not having access to a ladder, we demonstrated the torture using a board instead. The perpetrators seal practitioners' mouths with tape to muffle their agonising cries.

  Gong Zhiqiang whipped me cruelly on my body and head with an electric wire. Blood permeated my underwear. My face and neck were drenched in blood. I looked badly mangled. He did not stop until his pager rang. After that, Wei Tiankui asked me to crawl on the ground. He whipped me on my body and feet with my belt until the belt was shredded. I was not able to lie down to sleep for three nights and my underwear couldn't be removed because all the blood caused it to stick to my body.

• Slave Labour at Detention Centre in Pingxiang City, Jiangxi Province (Illustration)

  A Detention Centre in Jiangxi Province force the detainees to make Christmas lights. The police compete with each other. They get bonuses based on the output of the detainees under their supervision. They force the detainees to work day and night until 1:00am or 2:00am on average, and even until 4:00am occasionally. The detainees start working at 5:30 am the next day.

• Family Appeals for Investigation Following Death of Zhang Hong at Wanjia Labour Camp

  On July 31, 2004, Dafa practitioner Ms. Zhang Hong from Harbin City was persecuted to death by Wanjia Forced Labour Camp in Heilongjiang Province. The labour camp authorities demanded that Ms. Zhang's family cremate her body as soon as possible, but this demand was firmly refused. Ms. Zhang's family is now turning to the legal process with an appeal to investigate her death.

• Ms. Wei Yaxia is Found Dead After Being Driven Out of Home

  Following Ms. Wei Yaxia's release from Wanjia Labour Camp, policemen and police vehicles were stationed around her home. They applied pressure on her family members and threatened to fire her husband and to make her son unable to work. Ms. Wei had to leave home to avoid persecution. She hid in an empty house of a relative. On the evening of April 25 they heard someone knocking on the door of the room where Ms. Wei was hiding. On the morning of April 26, Ms. Wei was found dead outside of the building. The details of her death are still unknown.

• Falun Gong Practitioner Ms Shan Yuqin from Heilongjiang Province Dies as a Result of Brutal Torture (Photo)

  Ms. Shan Yuqin, 48, was a forty-eight year old Dafa practitioner from Yilan County, Heilongjiang Province. Because Shan Yuqin was frequently arrested and detained, her watermelon crop was left with no one to take care of it. As a result, her family did not have any income and led a very hard life. In 2001, Shan Yuqin was arrested and detained in Wanjia Labour Camp. Due to the long-term torture, her health became poorer and poorer. Half of her body was paralyzed and she couldn't take care of herself. Although she was eventually released, she remained bedridden. On August 20, 2004, she passed away.

• Belated News - Dafa Practitioner Mr Cao Yang from Chongqing City Tortured to Death in 2002

  In October 2000, Mr Cao Yang of Chongqing, was forcibly taken away and illegally sentenced to three years for his practice of Falun Gong. He was sent to Qianjiang for forced labour and inhumanly tortured. Each day he was monitored around the clock, deprived of sleep and the drug addicts beat him viciously. In May 2002 he was tortured to death. Afterwards the policemen did not allow his family members to see his body. They fabricated a story that he had committed suicide and hurriedly sent the body to be cremated.

  At around 8:00 p.m. on December 28, 2001, Ms. Cui Yaning from Jinzhou City, Liaoning Province was abducted by five policemen and sent to Ling'an Police Station in Jinzhou. After being body-searched, she was promptly beaten by the police. Several policemen then made her lie on the ground facing down and held her tightly. A strong policeman who was over 1.8 meters tall and weighed about 200 lbs then stepped on her back and stomped fiercely.

• Police Brutality: Putting a Female Dafa Practitioner in a Cage to be Bitten by Mosquitoes

  Dafa practitioner Ms Hu Aiyun went to appeal in Beijing against the persecution and was detained in a detention centre. A policeman put Hu into a steel cage with her hands cuffed to the top of it. Inside the cage, she could neither stand straight nor squat down. The cage was placed under a tree. The summer weather was hot and humid, and the air was thick with swarms of mosquitoes. She was forced to remain in the cage outside for eight days where she was subjected to thousands of mosquito bites as the swarms covered her.

  "On August 31, 2001 I was sent to the Shibalihe Female Forced Labour Camp in Zhengzhou City, where I was tortured, beaten, force-fed, cuffed, and hung up by my handcuffed wrists. I left the labour camp alive on January 11, 2004. After five years of torture and abuse from the persecution, I was left with permanently swollen legs and my feet numb and sore. For four years, since the year 2000, my left shinbone has suffered from a fracture that was not treated properly. At present, I am disabled and cannot work. My husband passed away three years ago, from the constant fear and pressure. During the past few years, our only daughter has been forced to struggle to live on her own, with very little money."

• 57 Years Old Dafa Practitioner Wang Qingzhou from Shandong Province Dies from Torture

  Mr. Wang Qingzhou, 57 years old, lived near to Weihai City, Shandong Province. He began practising Falun Gong in 1997 and went to the local government to clarify the truth after the persecution of Falun Gong began in 1999. In January 2003 he was again arrested and sent to a detention centre where he was tortured before being released in May 2003. After he returned home, he had constant pain in his abdomen. Mr. Wang Qingzhou passed away three months later.

• Ms. Sun Xiuhua Dies as a Result of Persecution in Jilin Province

  Ms. Sun Xiuhua, 47, lived in Nong'an County, Jilin Province. She was sent twice to the Nong'an Detention Centre and released only after forcing her to pay 6,000 Yuan in fines, both times. Due to the persecution of her body, the enormous pressure on her mind, and the large amount of fines she was forced to pay, Ms. Sun started to suffer both physically and mentally, and her health deteriorated day by day. Tragically, she died on June 16, 2004.

• Anti-Falun Gong Hate Camp Established to Poison the Minds of Young People in Guangzhou City, Guangdong Province

  Sources say that a so-called "rejecting cult" programme for young people from elementary and high schools in the Dongshan District, began operations on July 30, 2004. Being the first of its kind, the camp was organized by Guangdong Province authorities to spread propaganda and instill hatred toward Falun Gong among those youngsters. The plan is to indoctrinate close to 70,000 young people in Dongshan District every year by making them attend the camp.

• Practitioner Zhou Zhi Tortured to Death at the Second Prison in Liaoning Province

  Mr. Zhou Zhi, around 38 years of age, was an engineer in Liaoning Province. He was arrested last May for downloading Falun Gong truth-clarification materials from the internet. After his arrest, Zhou had been on hunger strike to protest the illegal detention. Last November, he and three other practitioners were sentenced to 11 years in prison. Zhou was tortured to death on August 16 this year at the Second Prison in Shanyang City, Liaoning Province.
