Six Falun Gong Practitioners Arrested While Distributing Poems
2011-02-22Six Falun Gong practitioners were arrested by police on January 2nd, while distributing couplets (a certain type of poem often displayed on the outer doors of homes in China at the time of the New Year) in the Dumuhe Forest area. The couplets had wording praising Falun Gong. The practitioners were taken to the police station, searched and stripped down to their underwear. They were held at the detention centre of the Dongfanghong Forestry Public Security Bureau. Shi Chunbao, the deputy chief of State Security Brigade of the Forestry Public Security Bureau, beat Ms. Wu Yunlian's head and face brutally with a plastic bottle filled with water while cursing at her. -
Mr. Fu Tianxiang and Other Falun Gong Practitioners Still Held in Detention in Geermu City, Qinghai Province
2011-02-22Falun Gong practitioners Mr. Fu Tianxiang, Ms. He Jingyu, and Ms. Zuo Aifeng were arrested on separate occasions in 2009 because they distributed information about Falun Gong. They have been held in the Geermu Detention Centre the entire time. During the detention, local court officials tried them several times, and the police denied their families' visitation rights until the 2010 Chinese New Year when their families were finally allowed to visit them once. -
Attorney Calls for Justice for Mr. Ruan Fanghua
2011-02-19Mr. Ruan Fanghua, a Falun Gong practitioner from Changsha City, Hunan Province was tried by the Yuelu District Court on January 24th, 2011. Mr. Jin Guanghong, an attorney from Beijing, represented him and entered a plea of not guilty. The attorney pointed out that there was no evidence against Mr. Ruan and the charge had no legal basis. The attorney called upon the judge to follow his conscience and release Mr. Ruan as a free, innocent man. Mr. Ruan was arrested on August 2nd, 2010 and subjected to both physical and mental torture in custody. -
Mr. Tang Haian of Wuhan City Sentenced to Five Years in Prison
2011-02-19Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Tang Haian of Wuhan, Hubei Province was sentenced on January 10th. The Wuchang District Court notified his family just one hour before his trial. There was no defence lawyer or audience present at the court. The court was adjourned after several questions were asked of Mr. Tang. On January 13th, the court notified the family that Mr. Tang had been sentenced to five years in prison, and they could visit him before 9:00 a.m. on January 24th. The court told them that before they could visit Mr. Tang, they must get a visitor's permit document from the court at 8:00 a.m. of the same morning. Mr. Tang's wife was shocked by the news. -
The Persecution of Ms. Zheng Yafeng from Changling County, Jilin Province
2011-02-19Ms. Zheng Yafeng, 37, is a middle school teacher.. She has been sentenced to labour camps three times in the last ten years because she practises Falun Gong. In July 2002, Ms. Zheng Yafeng was sentenced to one year in a labour camp because she posted banners exposing the persecution of Falun Gong. From 2001 to 2002, her school withheld her salary, totaling twenty thousand yuan. On November 8th, 2010, Ms. Zheng was arrested and taken to the Songyuan brainwashing centre. -
Song Huilan, a Farmer from Heilongjiang Province, Arrested and Persecuted Again
2011-02-18Police locked up Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Song Huilan in Huachuan County Detention Centre on December 13th, 2010. She protested by going on a hunger strike, and she eventually became very weak. Guards tied her to a bed and stretched her limbs out in different directions. She was immobilized, and then force-fed. Every day they inserted a thick tube down her throat twice. Each time they poured food down her throat three times. The pain in her stomach was unbearable, and she spat up blood and lost two teeth. Once while savagely force-feeding her, they punched her in the head. -
Two Family Members Persecuted to Death, Mr. Peng Liang Once Again Arrested
2011-02-16On January 27th, the Public Security Bureau arrested Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Peng Liang and sent him to the detention centre. During the more than 11 years of persecution by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP), two of Mr. Peng's five family members have been persecuted to death, and his father was recently persecuted while at a brainwashing centre, until he became mentally unstable. Mr. Peng's sister, Ms. Peng Yan had also been jailed for three years for practising Falun Gong. -
Well-known and Respected Doctor in Xinxiang City, Henan Province Put on Trial
2011-02-12Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Xu Faling has been detained for more than five months. His family has been forbidden to visit him. The police notified his family that Hongqi District Court will put Mr. Xu on trial. Since the Chinese Communist regime's brutal persecution of Falun Gong started in July 1999, Mr. Xu was subjected to forced labour twice, in 2003 and 2006. He was fired from his position as a doctor. He was demoted and the hospital forced him to work in the laundry room. Unfortunately, his wife became frightened and did not dare to practise Falun Gong anymore due to her fear of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP). Pressured by the Party, she divorced her husband, her illnesses relapsed and she died in 2001. -
Owner of Yuwen Technology in Shanghai Brought to Trial
2011-02-12On April 15th, 2010, Mr. He Binggang, the owner and general manager of computer operations at Yuwen Technology in the Changning District of Shanghai and also a Falun Gong practitioner, was trapped by secret agents from the 610 Office (an organisation of special agents just for persecuting Falun Gong) in the Changning District and taken away. His case has received a lot of outside attention, and the authorities' underhanded tactics have been extensively reported on. Shanxi Province's Xingping City Domestic Security Division Officers Persecute Ms. Li Ying'e and Huang Bo
2011-02-12Falun Gong practitioners Ms. Li Ying'e, Ms. Jing Xuehong, Ms. Huang Bo, and Ms. Liu Qiaomei were in Ms. Jing's car on January 6th. They stopped by the roadside and a young man suddenly forced open the car door, grabbed Ms. Jing, and started beating her, claiming that her car had run over his feet. When the polices arrived they completely ignored the man who had caused the incident and took the women and their car to the police station. The police interrogated the practitioners separately. The police found stickers with Falun Gong messages in their car, three leaflets exposing the persecution of Falun Gong and unposted letters. They then transferred the practitioners to the Xingping City Domestic Security Division for additional interrogation. -
Practitioners from Rizhao City in Shandong Province Sentenced
2011-02-11Four practitioners are being held in Rizhao Detention Centre. Ms. Qian was arrested on November 10th, 2010, and was sentenced to two years in prison on January 20th, 2011. Ms. Ding was sentenced to one year in prison in October 2010. Ms. Wang and Mr. Mu were both sentenced to four years in prison by the Rizhao Court. Ms. Zhang Ping, Ms. Ding's mother, was arrested and was later sentenced to four years in prison. Her term will be up in July 2011. -
Wu Zuqiang and His Son Wu Xianjin from Gaozhou, Guangdong Province Have Been Detained
2011-02-11Police arrested Wu Zuqiang and his son Wu Xianjin (both practitioners) on the afternoon of October 25th, 2010. The police ransacked the practitioners' home and stole their personal property. They detained them at the Hexizhongdi “Law Education School,” where they were forced to attend brainwashing sessions. Relatives of Mr. Wu and his son went to Gaozhou 610 Office (an organisation of special agents just for persecuting Falun Gong) and Gaozhou Police Station to request the unconditional release of the father and son and the return of their confiscated property, but the 610 Office and the police station just made excuses. Gaozhou Police Station did not even allow the relatives to enter the station. -
Middle School Teacher Suffers Solitary Confinement and Electric Shock in Shiling Prison, Siping City
2011-02-10On December 5th, 2008, Falun Gong practitioner Xu Hongjun was sentenced to four and a half years in prison by the Tonghua County Court. Currently he is imprisoned in Shiling Prison, Siping City. Because Mr. Xu refused to give up his belief in Falun Gong, he was beaten by police with a military electric baton. At the end of October 2010, Mr. Xu was twice subjected to solitary confinement in a small cell. His family and friends are very worried about his current situation. -
Ms. Liu Sulan from Shenyang City, Liaoning Province Arrested and Facing Sentencing
2011-02-09On September 29th, 2010, Ms. Liu Sulan and Ms. Wang Min told a taxi driver about the goodness of Falun Gong and about the Chinese Communist Party's (CCP) persecution of it. They were reported and arrested by police and taken to Shenyang Detention Centre. Previously, Ms. Wang was sentenced to five years in prison in early 2002 and put into Dabei Prison in Shenyang. She was forced to do manual labour making clothes at the prison. She had to work for more than twelve hours each day, and sometimes until the next morning. When she refused to recite the prison regulations, the guards surrounded her with several inmates who recited the prison regulations to her. One time, she was caught reading a Falun Gong article. The guards shocked her with electric batons for a whole morning. -
Five Jiaonan Practitioners Recently Arrested
2011-02-07Ms. Liu Huimin and four other practitioners from Jiaonan, Shandong Province were arrested by the local police on January 15th-16th, 2011. The police claimed that they would sentence the practitioners. On the afternoon of January 16th, Ms. Liu Meiqin, who is Ms. Liu Huimin's sister, went to Dacun Town to ask for her release. Ms. Liu Meiqin was then also arrested. Wang Zongli has been released from detention. On January 17th, the police went to ransack the homes of the practitioners. The five practitioners have been sent to the Dashan Detention Centre in Qingdao City, Shandong Province.
