Additional Information Regarding the Death of Fifty-Five Year-Old Ms. Liu Shuling

Ms. Liu Shuling, 55, died in the Harbin Women's Drug Rehabilitation Centre and Forced Labour Camp on July 3rd, 2010. There was a ring of dried blood around her neck. According to sources inside China, at around the time of her death, about a dozen Falun Gong practitioners were physically tortured in different ways, including being hanged by handcuffs, being forced to sit on metal chairs, etc. in attempts to "transform"[forcibly renounce Falun Gong] them. Ms. Liu refused to be "transformed" and was tortured to death. After her death, the camp immediately held a meeting, where everyone was ordered to say that Ms. Liu passed out suddenly in the toilet and died due to heart disease. In order to prevent information from leaking out, even the guards were not allowed to talk to each other during that time. -
Mr. Xin Yanjun Dies after Becoming Paralysed as Result of Torture While Imprisoned
2010-09-30Mr. Xin Yanjun was arrested for a fourth time for practising Falun Gong in 2002 and taken directly to Jilin City Prison for a seven-year sentence. Mr. Xin was severely tortured at the Jilin Prison. The guards attempted to freeze him to death by stripping him, forcing him to stand outside, and pouring cold water on him every time he passed out due to the cold. Mr. Xin was subjected to the "sitting board" torture for two months because he refused to renounce his belief in Falun Gong. The guards also instigated criminal inmates to beat. Mr. Xin Yanjun died on May 27th. He weighed only 90 pounds, compared to his previous weight of 170 pounds. His body was too disfigured to be viewed. -
Mr. Cai Fuchen Dies Under Suspicious Circumstances in a Jilin Province Prison on or about September 16th, 2010
2010-09-29Mr. Cai Fuchen was sentenced to ten years in prison in 2004 and was held in Gongzhuling Prison until his untimely death there on or about September 16th, 2010. On May 5th, 2008, guards locked him in solitary confinement after he wrote an appeal letter to protest his being persecuted. Guards hung him up on his bunk bed. They did not allow him to sleep, and shocked his neck and legs with an electric baton. The prison said to his family that Mr. Cai refused to be "transformed" [forcibly renounce Falun Gong] and then "jumped to his death from the third floor." His family questioned the prison authorities: How did it happen? He entered the prison in good health and now had died in such a tragic and mysterious way. The prison authorities demanded the family sign a release to allow an autopsy, but his family refused. -
Mr. Lv Xinshu, an Elementary Schoolteacher, and Mr. Wang Hongbin Both Die As a Result of Torture
2010-09-29Mr. Lv Xinshu, 59, was sentenced to an eight-year prison term in 2000 for practising Falun Gong. In prison, Mr. Lv was tortured physically and mentally. He displayed severe symptoms of liver ascites, was emaciated, and his feet were swollen. He was so ill that he couldn't even eat. Due to the liver ascites, his belly extended quite a bit. He couldn't lie down and sat through many sleepless nights. On May 23rd, 2009, Mr. Lv Xinshu passed away. -
Family Asking Attorneys to Seek Justice in the Death of Ms. Yuan Pingjun
2010-09-29Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Yuan Pingjun, a resident of Shijiazhuang, was recently persecuted to death. In the wake of the tragedy, family members have had to overcome threats and cover-ups from police. They have since retained attorneys and are formally seeking justice through the legal system. The family saw Ms. Yuan's remains and noticed that there was a bloody hole in the back of her head. The family believes, based on this and other evidence, that Yuan Pingjun was tortured before she died. Soon after, several Chinese Communist Party departments in the Xinhua District swiftly transported Ms. Yuan's remains to a crematorium to be guarded by the police and would not let her family hold a memorial service or set up a mourning site. -
Three of My Family Members Died As a Result of Persecution
2010-09-26After the persecution of Falun Gong started on July 20th, 1999, my family members and I were followed and our home phone was monitored. To try to force us to give up the practice of Falun Gong, police frequently came to our home to harass and threaten us. In January 2000, my daughter got married. After she and her husband came back from their honeymoon, they came to our home. The police arrested both of them. My son-in-law was sentenced to forced labour. My husband was so sad that his health started to deteriorate. On March 1st, 2000, several police came to our home to harass us again. After they left, another police officer came by and threatened us. My husband could not stand the mental torture and passed away the next day. -
Ms. Yuan Pingjun's Family Seeking Justice for Her Death
2010-09-24Ms. Yuan Pingjun died less than10 days after being arrested and detained at a brainwashing centre on August 2nd, 2010. The police lied, saying she died from jumping from the building, and did not allow her family to view her body except for a quick look or set up a ceremony for mourning. They tried to buy silence from her family with 100,000 yuan. Her family hired a lawyer to seek justice for her tragic death. -
Older Practitioner Ms. Liu Shurong Dies after Being Tortured in the Harbin City Drug Rehabilitation Forced Labour Camp
2010-09-15Ms. Liu Shurong died on July 1st, 2010 as a result of torture by guards in the Harbin City Drug Rehabilitation Forced Labour Camp. Details are yet to be investigated. Ms. Liu went held a one-week hunger strike during the 2010 New Year holiday season. She was very firm in her belief, and was tortured until she was very weak. She refused to co-operate with the guards, persisted in doing the Falun Gong exercises, and was tied up in the lotus position for a long time in the Third Ward. The police deprived her of sleep for seven days, and her sentence was extended four days. -
Older Practitioner Mr. Lu Manku Dies as a Result of Torture in Nanguanling Prison, Dalian City
2010-09-14On May 26th, 2008, Xiuyan County Police Department agents arrested Mr. Lu Manku, a Falun Gong practitioner in his 50s, from Anshan City, Liaoning Province, while he was making leaflets exposing the persecution of Falun Gong. He was sentenced to ten years. Mr. Lu died as a result of torture in Nanguanling Prison at the beginning of August 2010. -
Mother Dies Broken Hearted in July 2010 After Years of Seeking Justice for the Gruesome Death in Police Custody of Her Daughter, Gao Rongrong, Prove Futile
2010-09-14It has been five years since Ms. Zhang Sukun's youngest daughter, Gao Rongrong was tortured to death in custody. Ms. Zhang and her family had no way to find justice, and were continually harassed and mistreated by agents from the 610 Office (an organisation of special agents just for persecuting Falun Gong). Before the 2008 Beijing Olympics police threatened Ms. Zhang and her family and did not allow them to appeal over Gao Rongrong's death in custody, and pressured them to agree to have her body cremated. Around October 1st, 2009 National Day, agents from State Security and the police closely monitored her family. Ms. Zhang's granddaughter tried to study abroad, but was blocked by State Security, and could not travel out of the country. On July 16th, 2010, Ms. Zhang died. -
Falun Gong Practitioners Tortured and Murdered in Panjin Prison, Liaoning Province
2010-09-12Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Huang Lizhong was tortured at Panjin Prison for more than one year. On October 20th, 1999, when his family members visited him, he looked emaciated. He was shivering throughout the visit and too weak to hold a conversation. That is when his family realised why earlier family visits were forbidden. Guard Wang Jianjun tried to hide the fact that he tortured Mr. Lu. The torture methods included electric shocks, handcuffing, hanging up and brutal beatings. On October 25th, 2009, five days after the family visit, prison authorities notified his family that Mr. Huang had died. -
Chinese Communist Party (CCP) Authorities Pay 100,000 Yuan in Exchange for Silence in Ms. Yan Pingjun's Death
2010-09-12Ms. Yan Pingjun, a Falun Gong practitioner from Shijiazhuang City, Hebei Province, died around August 10th, 2010, just one week after she was arrested at her home. Chinese Communist Party authorities paid her family 100,000 yuan in exchange for their silence regarding her death, and cremated her body on August 22nd. It was carried out in such a hurry that the cremation process was done without the presence of her husband. -
Mr. Zeng Huaguo from Hunan Province Beaten to Death in Custody
2010-09-10Mr. Zeng Huaguo was distributing leaflets exposing the persecution and telling people the facts about Falun Gong on June 21st, 2010, when he asked a man to please not believe the slanderous propaganda spread by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) and not to commit crimes against Falun Gong. That man was a plainclothes officer, and he arrested Mr. Zeng and took him to a detention centre. Mr. Zeng's son-in-law signed statements to renounce practising Falun Gong on Mr. Zeng's behalf, and he was released ten days later. On August 19th, Mr. Zeng went to the police station to request his Falun Gong books. Officers arrested him and, within six days, had cruelly beat him to death. On his back was a cut 13 stitches long. -
A Family of Six Persecuted, Two Have Died

Mr. Cao was sentenced four years in prison in June 2002. The guards tortured him in all kinds of ways. In the hot summer, they ordered him to stand under the hot sun with his hands up. He was not allowed to move his hands or legs. Under these conditions he often fainted and collapsed to the ground. Criminal inmates brutally beat Mr. Cao. As a result Cao Ping became unconscious and was in a critical condition. On June 28th, 2003, Deyang Prison sent him home. About 20 days later he died at the age of 39. -
Falun Gong Practitioner Imprisoned and Killed Just After Visiting a Friend
2010-09-08On July 15th, 2010, police arrested Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Xia Junying. Practitioner Ms. Bai Caiping had just stopped by, and she was arrested before she entered the door. Ms. Bai was sentenced to 21 months of forced labour. After Ms. Xia Junying was arrested, Ms. Yan Pingjun, a friend of Ms. Xia's, came to visit her family on August 1st. The police followed her home and ransacked it. They confiscated Falun Gong books, a computer and money. Yan Pingjun was sent to a brainwashing centre. Her family was notified around August 11th, that she had died. Those responsible for her death lied, saying that Ms. Yan had jumped from the third floor and died. At the Chinese Communist Party's (CCP) brainwashing centre, everyone was monitored around the clock, so there was no opportunity for anyone to commit suicide.
