Elderly Ms. Miao Sufang Died after Years of Persecution
2010-07-12Seventy-three-year-old Ms. Miao Sufang died between March and April 2010. She lived in Chengdu City, Sichuan Province. As a Falun Gong practitioner, she endured brainwashing, forced labour, and torture. The police beat her and forced her to stand in the snow with only her undergarments on when she was arrested for appealing for the right to practise Falun Gong in Beijing in January 2001. She was subsequently subjected to a year of forced labour and imprisoned at the Nanmusi Women's Forced Labour Camp. She was arrested a second time for telling people about Falun Gong, and detained at the Pi County Prison. -
Police Officer Li Liping from Wuqiao County, Hebei Province, Persecutes Liu Zhigang and Family
2010-07-11Li Liping, deputy secretary of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) committee of the Quqiao County Police Department in Hebei Province, is in charge of persecuting Falun Gong practitioners. Since 2001, he has persecuted most of the practitioners living in Wuqiao County. In early June 2010, he started looking for practitioner Liu Zhigang, who had been forced to be homeless for over ten years. After Mr. Liu became homeless in June 2001, his wife, Ms. Gao Lihua, was placed under house arrest and surveillance, and was violently threatened to cooperate with the authorities, against her will, to find and arrest her husband. She had no choice but to abandon her home with her husband. Through years of living a homeless life, in constant danger of being arrested, Ms. Gao died at the age of 43, in March 2004. -
Zhang Chunfang Repeatedly Persecuted, Her Husband Died as a Result of the Persecution
2010-07-09Ms. Zhang Chunfang, 56, was arrested at her home by officers from the Shuangta District Police Station on June 12th, 2010. The officers also confiscated some of her private belongings. Ms. Zhang was sent to the Zhuozhou City Detention Centre and then sentenced to one year of forced labour. Her family members have not been allowed to visit her. Since the former head of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) Jiang Zemin initiated the persecution of Falun Gong in 1999, they have been repeatedly arrested, sentenced to forced labour, held in detention centres and tortured by the authorities. Ms. Zhang's husband, Li Heng, suffered brutal torture in a forced labour camp. He was released in the beginning of 2002 but remained bedridden until his death in May 2005 at the age of 51. -
Practitioners Mr. Pan Yushun from Jilin and Ms. Xue Qiaolan from Gansu Die as a Result of Persecution
2010-07-07Mr. Pan Yushun, 45, was reported to the police and arrested when he was making copies of materials about Falun Gong in November 2004. He was sentenced to one year of forced labour in Chaoyanggou Detention Centre. He was tortured through sleep deprivation, shocks from electric batons, and having his hands and feet shackled. He also endured rubber clubbing, the death bed, being tied up with ropes, having his muscles twisted with pliers, and wood chips under his nails. In April 2010, Mr. Pan heard a knock on the door of his home. He suspected it was the police and so out of fear, he affixed a rope and left through the window using the rope in an attempt to escape. Unfortunately, he fell and died. -
Mr. Wang Ruiqi Dies after Learning of His Wife's Death in Prison
2010-07-06After he and his family had suffered years of persecution, Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Wang Ruiqin, 62, died on June 8th, 2010, 80 days after his wife, practitioner Ms. Shi Yingchun, died in prison. After the persecution began in July 1999, Mr. Wang was imprisoned in a forced labour camp twice for more than five years. His wife, Ms. Shi, was detained four times, subjected to forced labour twice, and imprisoned once. She was imprisoned for six years and eight months before she was beaten to death in prison. Their son, Mr. Wang Zhuo, also a practitioner, has been detained four times and subjected to forced labour twice. He has been imprisoned for eight years and is currently in Masanjia Forced Labour Camp. -
Killing Falun Gong Practitioners for Profit
2010-07-04Fearing Falun Gong's growth, the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) has repressed it as a rival with a savage brutality continuously since July 1999. Torture, rapes, beatings to death, detentions in forced labour camps, brainwashing—all have become the daily lot of Falun Gong practitioners across China for more than a decade. Falun Gong practitioners today comprise two-thirds of the torture victims and half of the people in detention in 'reeducation through labour' camps across China. Practitioners have been killed in the thousands since 2001 so that their organs could be trafficked to both Chinese nationals and foreigners. -
64-Year-Old Ms. Geng Jin'e Dies in Custody in Beijing
2010-07-02Ms. Geng Jin'e was tortured to death in the Tuanhe Women's Forced Labour Camp on June 10th, 2010. The guards lied to her family, saying she died of a heart attack. After her family claimed that she never had heart problems, the guards said she died of a stroke. Under her family's continued questioning, the guards became speechless. When her family asked to read the medical rescue records and see the related video, the labour camp and Procuratorate pushed the responsibility back and forth, and they have yet to provide such records. -
Elderly Mr. Liang Tingfu Dies as a Result of Persecution in Hubei Province
2010-07-01Mr. Liang Tingfu, in his 70s, began practising Falun Gong in 1996. Domestic security agent Sun Dehong kept harassing him and threatening him ever since 1999, when the persecution started. In 2001, Sun Dehong arrested Mr. Liang at his home. Claiming that Mr. Liang handed out Falun Gong materials, Sun often called Mr. Liang at home and threatened to take him to a forced labour camp. Mr. Liang dared not practise Falun Gong, fearing Sun might catch him. In 2003, Sun arrested Mr. Lian again. His health deteriorated. Doctors found several tumours in his brain, and he could not be operated on. His family took him to stay in a temple for one year, but his condition worsened. He died in April 2008. -
Additional Information About Ms. Shi Yingchun--Beaten to Death in Liaoning Province Women's Prison
2010-06-29Ms. Shi, 60, was imprisoned in Liaoning Province Women's Prison for distributing Falun Gong fliers. On March 17th, 2010 while prisoners were working in the workshop, Ms. Shi was called to the office by section chief Liu Qili, who tried to persuade Ms. Shi to "transform" [forcibly renounce Falun Gong]. Ms. Shi refused to "transform" so guards ordered prisoners to beat her. The result was that nine prisoners beat Ms. Shi to death. On March 18th, the prison administration called the Ms. Shi's family to the prison. The family was told that Ms. Shi had died from illness. -
Wife Arrested, Husband Dies after Living in Fear
2010-06-27In 2008, the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) feverishly arrested Falun Gong practitioners across the country before and during the Olympic Games. At noon on July 17th, 2008, police arrested several practitioners including Ms. Liu and took them to the police station. The practitioners were harshly treated in the detention centre for 15 days and endured inhuman torture. Police then took them to a brainwashing centre, holding them there for more than seven weeks. Ms. Liu's husband, who was timid and did not practise Falun Gong, was pressured psychologically. While his wife was imprisoned, he had a breakdown and could not eat or sleep. When she was released and went out on business he was afraid she had been arrested. He died of a heart attack on April 16th, 2010. -
Practitioners from Liaoning and Hunan Provinces Die after Enduring Torture
2010-06-23Ms. Wei Shuwen was taken to a forced labour camp twice and tortured. She died on May 15th, 2010, at the age of 64 as a result of torture. In, 2001, Ms. Wei went to Beijing to appeal for the right to practise Falun Gong and was arrested and taken to the Beijing Women's Forced Labour Camp, where she was tortured. In 2003 she was sent to Masanjia Forced Labour Camp, where she was imprisoned for a year and a half. Ms. Wei was tortured, beaten, forced to stand for a long time, deprived of sleep and forbidden to use the toilet. She was forced to produce products for which the material emitted poisonous fumes. -
Ms. Shen Xueya Falls and Dies after Being Mentally Traumatised from Forcibly-Administered Drugs at Chongqing Women's Forced Labour Camp
2010-06-23Unknown drugs were forcibly administered to Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Shen Xueya at the Chongqing Women's Forced Labour Camp for a year and a half. Chongqing Women's Forced Labour Camp is a place where guards with no human nature torture good people. They use all kinds of methods to create stress. The goal is to break the practitioners' wills and cause mental anguish. As a result, Ms. Shen developed a mental disorder. On March 1st, 2009, from a semiconscious state, she fell to the floor and died. -
Farm Wife Taken to Forced Labour Camp, Family Member Dies from Stress and Sorrow
2010-06-22On April 21st, 2010, police arrested Ms. Zhao Lihua while she was distributing Falun Gong materials, then jailed her in the Laixi Detention Centre. Ms. Zhao's husband had health problems and depended completely on Ms. Zhao's care. Police told Ms. Zhao's husband that they needed proof of his condition from the hospital, so that they could release Ms. Zhao to take care of him. Her husband dragged himself to the hospital and gave proof to the police. Officials told him that his evidence was not valid and also accused him of exposing Ms. Zhao's arrest case on the Clearwisdom website (a Falun Gong website). Ms. Zhao was taken to the Wangcun Forced Labour Camp. Three days after the family got the news of Ms. Zhao's whereabouts, her father-in-law died of extreme stress and grief. -
Elderly Mr. Du Sian Passes Away After Suffering 10 Years of the Persecution
2010-06-14Mr. Du Sian suffered from severe sores on his leg in 1995 and was told that he needed to amputate the leg to avoid the spread of infection. The sores, however, miraculously disappeared after he read the Falun Gong book, Zhuan Falun, and began to practise Falun Gong. After enduring the Chinese Communist Party's persecution for over 10 years, Mr. Du's health began to deteriorate, he started suffering from oedema, and he became bedridden near the end of 2009. He passed away on April 28th, 2010, at the age of 85. -
Ms. Lin Jianhua Dies after Forced Drug Administration in Detention
2010-06-11Ms. Lin Jianhua went to Beijing to appeal for justice for Falun Gong twice. The police arrested her on March 7th, 2000, while she was on her way to a fellow practitioner's home. They detained her 45 days, finally taking her to the Hewan Forced Labour Camp with a one-year term. Ms. Lin was arrested the second time on December 4th, 2003 while she was talking to people about Falun Gong. Police took her to the Hewan Forced Labour Camp for another one-year term. Ms. Lin was inhumanly tortured in the labour camp. The guards put harmful drugs in her food, which severely damaged her health. After being released, the drug caused Ms. Lin to manifest symptoms similar to diabetes. She never fully recovered her health, and under the long-term surveillance and harassment, Ms. Lin died.
