Circumstances Surrounding Ms. Zhang Chengmei's Death Due to Torture in Wangcun No. 2 Forced Labour Camp in Shandong Province
2010-10-22When Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Zhang was taken to Wangcun No. 2 Women's Forced Labour Camp she was healthy and sturdy. When I saw her a little over a month later, she had become emaciated and was unrecognisable. After my release, I asked about Ms. Zhang. Later I learned that she had died in the labour camp hospital on February 6th. When her family saw her body, they noticed that her teeth were missing, and her arm was broken. When she died, she was nothing but skin and bones. The police did not allow her family to take pictures and hastily had her cremated. -
The Persecution of Mr. Ye Wenxin, a Well-Known Bully Who Had Become a Good Person After Practising Falun Gong
2010-10-22Mr. Ye Wenxin, around 40 years old, was well-known, years ago, as a good-for-nothing layabout in the area who even dared to beat his parents. He was such a bully that no one dared to challenge him. Once he began practising Falun Gong in 1997, he began to conduct himself according to the principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance and became a much kinder and gentler person. Nevertheless he was repeatedly subjected to persecution. In 2008, Mr. Ye was taken to and held in the Fuda Detention Centre for his third incarceration. While there, he was brutally beaten, handcuffed, and forced to do slave labour. -
Mr. Li Zhigang in Critical Condition as a Result of Persecution at Hulan Prison in Heilongjiang Province
2010-10-21Mr. Li Zhigang's family received a notice from Hulan Prison Hospital about Mr. Li's critical condition on September 26th. Chen Weiqiang, a staff member from the Education and Reform Section, met with Mr. Li's family and threatened them, saying, "Don't put this news on the Internet. There will be no visitation if you come with any Falun Gong practitioners." Police broke into Mr. Li's home in February 2009. Police they brutally tortured him to force him to "confess" to crimes. They shackled him to a metal chair, and then yanked his arms upward from behind until he was sweating profusely from pain. They poured mustard water into his nostrils and beat and kicked him. -
Crimes Committed by Li Fenglin, Head of the Yushu City 610 Office in Jilin Province
2010-10-21Li Fenglin, head of the Yushu City 610 Office in Jilin Province, arrested Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Chen Shujie. Police sent her to Xinglongshan brainwashing centre in Changchun. She staged a hunger strike until she was at the brink of death. Her family strongly protested. Li Fenglin told the brainwashing facility officials to release her, fearing responsibility for her death. After Ms. Chen returned home, Li Fenglin told her employer to force her to write a guarantee statement to renounce practising Falun Gong, or she would be forbidden to work. -
Laiyang Court in Shandong Province Tries Ms. Wu Jinfeng
2010-10-21Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Wu Jinfeng was tried at the Laiyang Court in Shandong Province on September 19th. Chinese Communist Party (CCP) officials used much manpower and material resources to seal off the court and conduct the trial away from public view. Police arrested Ms. Wu while she was distributing leaflets and DVDs exposing the persecution and telling people the facts about Falun Gong on April 22nd. Ms. Wu was held at the Laiyang City Detention Centre. When lawyers, hired by Ms. Wu's husband, visited Ms. Wu at the detention centre on July 31st, they noticed that she was weak, shivering, and lethargic. She had not eaten for over 10 days. After she stood for a while, she collapsed to the floor. It became obvious that she had been tortured. -
Ms. Liu Shuping and Husband Zhang Guangfu Repeatedly Persecuted
2010-10-21Ms. Liu Shuping and her husband Mr. Zhang Guangfu suffered repeated persecution by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) for their belief in Falun Gong, which has included multiple arrests, detention, and torture. Their young daughter was also affected by the persecution. Ms. Liu was tortured in a forced labour camp for six years. In order to protest the torture, Ms. Liu began a hunger strike, but the guards repeatedly force-fed her for close to five months until May, 2001. As a result, her trachea was severely damaged, became swollen and was not wide enough for the force-feeding tube anymore. Guards still forcefully inserted the tube through her nose and then to her stomach. -
610 Office Chief Ma Shaoyu's Misdeeds
2010-10-20The 610 Office--named after the date of its creation on June 10th, 1999--is an extralegal police task force responsible for carrying out the campaign to persecute Falun Gong. Ma Shaoyu was promoted to chairman at the Yanji 610 Office in Jilin Province because he was actively involved in the persecution of Falun Gong in 2005. Ma organises one or two brainwashing sessions every year and. personally plans the arrests of Falun Gong practitioners. Over ten practitioners have died due to torture on his account. -
Older Falun Gong Practitioners Ms. Wang Zhujun and Ms. Shi Xiuyun Mistreated in Harbin
2010-10-20Ms. Wang Zhujun and Ms. Shi Xiuyun both practise Falun Gong, which brought physical health to both; yet, they were arrested, imprisoned, and tortured for following their beliefs. At Wanjia Forced Labour Camp, 62-year-old Wang Zhujun was ordered to squat every day and stay in that position until midnight. Because she refused to write a guarantee to stop practising Falun Gong, a guard grabbed her by her hair, slammed her against a wall, kicked and beat her, hung her up, and shocked her with an electric baton. -
Ms. Niu Huimin Seriously Ill As a Result of Persecution in Shijiazhuang Women's Forced Labour Camp
2010-10-20Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Niu Huimin was arrested at her home in Dingxing County, Baoding City, Hebei Province, on June 12th, 2010. She is currently in Shijiazhuang Women's Forced Labour Camp and is seriously ill as a result of persecution. Her husband's request for medical parole for her was denied. Her husband was previously forced to serve about six years of imprisonment for publicising how his wife was abused and tortured in 2002. -
Ms. Shang Yuqin Persecuted in Heizuizi Forced Labour Camp in Changchun
2010-10-20Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Shang Yuqin was arrested three times and twice sentenced to forced labour camps since the persecution of Falun Gong began in China in 1999. She was tortured severely in Heizuizi Forced Labour Camp in Changchun. She recounts: "In the forced labour camp, we were forced to work from 6 a.m until 8 or 9 p.m. We prepared 500 boxes to be shipped by air every day and could not rest without finishing the work. We were forced to stand every two or three days, facing the wall, and were not allowed to look sideways. If we were found turning our heads, we would be beaten." -
Ms. Sun Min Tortured to Death, Her Husband Mr. Wu Yang's Whereabouts Unknown
2010-10-19Mr. Wu Yang and his wife Ms. Sun Ming were arrested by police in Beijing. Within a very short time, Ms. Sun was tortured to death. The police then created a fake suicide scene and fabricated the autopsy report, saying that she committed suicide by jumping off a building. Ms. Sun's body was found to be covered with cuts and injuries, prompting several experts from the autopsy department to declare that her cause of death was not from jumping off a building. -
Falun Gong Practitioner Zeng Huaguo Murdered by Police in Shaodong County, Hunan Province within Six Days
2010-10-19Mr. Zeng Huaguo was arrested in June by police when he promoted Falun Gong to a person who happened to be a plainclothes policeman and detained in a detention centre. The police searched his home and took away his Falun Gong books. After his release, Mr. Zeng went to the police station to ask for his Falun Gong books and was tortured severely and then in August he was sent to hospital where he died. -
Mr. Xu Huai'an and Ms. Chi Qinghua Brutally Tortured
2010-10-19Mr. Xu Huai'an, 57, and his wife Ms. Chi Qinghua, 58, have remained steadfast in their belief in Falun Gong, and therefore have suffered inhuman torture both physically and mentally over the past ten years. The couple were both incarcerated in Wanjia Forced Labour Camp and tortured. Guard Ma Jun incited inmates to beat Mr. Xu, and forced him to extend his outstretched arms like an airplane, then bent them backwards 95 degrees. They repeated this three to four times a day. Ms. Chi was handcuffed then guards raised her up by her handcuffs high above the ground causing severe injuries. -
Ms. Liu Zhanglan in Critical Condition After Being Injected With Unknown Drugs
2010-10-19Police arrested Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Liu while she was alone at home in March 2010. She was sentenced to one year at Linquan Detention Centre. Guards at the detention centre injected Ms Liu with unknown drugs in August 2010, saying that she had contracted pneumonia. She had difficulty breathing and started to lose the ability to use her arms and legs, after being injected with the drugs. She is in critical condition According to Ms. Liu's daughter, her mother did not have pneumonia. When Ms. Liu requested documentation stating that she had pneumonia, the doctor refused to give it to her. -
Crimes Committed in Jinan Women's Prison in Shandong Province
2010-10-18Since the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) started persecuting Falun Gong on July 20th, 1999, several hundred Falun Gong practitioners in Shandong Province have been sentenced and sent to Shandong Women's Prison. Ms. Liu Hongmei was persecuted nearly to death in Ward No. 7, but still had to do forced labour. Criminal inmates were ordered to carry her into the workshop every morning. Head of Ward No. 2 Gao Ying often uses forceful methods of torture to "transform" [forcibly renounce Falun Gong] practitioners, including solitary confinement, electric shock, beatings, sleep deprivation, exposure to freezing temperatures, being forced to remain in a squatting position for long periods and not being allowed to wash.
