Hunan Province Women's Prison Officials Train Inmates to Persecute Falun Gong Practitioners

Hunan Province Women's Prison specializes in persecuting Falun Gong practitioners to get them to "reform." Officials have recruited a group of extremely vicious inmates and trained them to abuse practitioners. The prison has established seven brainwashing cells to target Falun Gong practitioners who have refused to "reform." Each cell holds one practitioner and three inmates. If the practitioner shouts "Falun Gong is good" or "Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance is good" or refuses to "reform," the inmates' terms will be extended; however, if the inmates make the practitioner "reform" and give up Falun Gong practice, regardless of what method they use, they will earn credits, a promotion, or term reduction. -
Mr. Ou Ziwen Dies as a Result of Torture in the Bazhong Forced Labour Camp, Guizhou Province
2009-08-25On December 1st, 2004, police arrested Mr. Ou Ziwen, 66, took his Falun Gong books and materials, and detained him. He was sentenced to three years in the Zhongba Forced Labour Camp where he was regularly tortured with sleep deprivation and heavy labour. Mr. Ou was finally released in 2007, but due to being brutally tortured in the labour camp, he suffered from a hernia, became very emaciated, experienced liver, kidney and lung failure, and finally died on April 4th, 2009. -
Mr. Wang Jiang in Critical Condition after Torture, Family Visitations Frequently Denied
2009-08-25Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Wang Jiang is a farmer in Heilongjiang Province. He was arrested in January, 2006 and then sentenced to ten years in prison by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP). Ongoing torture resulted in his developing serious illnesses such as bone tuberculosis and pulmonary tuberculosis. Now he cannot take care of himself. Daqing Prison not only won't release Mr. Wang on medical parole, but they also have regularly prevented visitation by his family. The new head of Daqing Prison has further intensified the persecution of Falun Gong practitioners. -
Deputy Division Head Zhang Yuke and His Family Persecuted for Ten Years
2009-08-25Because he refused to give up practising Falun Gong, Mr. Zhang Yuke has been tortured repeatedly in labour camps. Mr. Zhang's wife, Yu Fengyun, was also repeatedly persecuted because she persisted in practising Falun Gong. In 1999 she was subjected to one year of forced labour. After she was released she was arrested again in 2001 and subjected to another year of forced labour at the same labour camp. In 2005 Ms. Yu was sent to the labour camp for the third time. In 2008. Zhang's wife was sentenced to two years in prison, and remains in prison to this day. Zhang Yuke was sentenced to four years at the Jilin Prison, where he has been repeatedly tortured. For the last several months, he has been tied against the bed and force-fed daily. -
Mr. Gu Yunpeng Brutally Tortured, Sentenced to Five Years in Prison
2009-08-25Falun Gong Practitioner Gu Yunpeng, who was recently released from Xinjian Prison in Harbin, Heilongjiang Province after serving a three-year sentence for practising Falun Gong, was arrested again in February 2009. Once at the Daowai District Detention Centre, the guards tortured him, forcing him to drink water from the toilet, and injecting mustard oil into his nose and mouth while hanging him upside down. They handcuffed and shackled him, connecting the two. On June 16th, 2009, Daowai District Court officials sentenced Mr. Gu to five years' incarceration and sent him to the Xinjian Prison. -
Guangdong Province's Sanshui Forced Labour Camp Freezes Practitioners
2009-08-24Guangdong Province's Sanshui Forced Labour Camp once carried out multiple sessions of torture to "conquer the toughest fortress" in an attempt to "Reform" or "Transform" Falun Gong practitioners. They used sleep deprivation, electric shock, verbal abuse and humiliation, excessive sun exposure, hanging by handcuffing, force-feeding, and prolonging forced labour terms. They also froze practitioners with air conditioning units. -
Mr. Jiang Heping from Guangan City, Sichuan Province Persecuted to Near Death
2009-08-24On May 13th, 2009, Mr. Jiang Heping, a Falun Gong practitioner in Guangan City, Sichuan Province, was reported for handing out Falun Gong flyers on the streets. He was arrested by the Longtai District government; his flyers were taken away, along with the 530 yuan he had on him. Without even a trial, he was jailed at the Guangan Detention Centre. For three months, personnel of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) used various forms of torture to reduce the once healthy Jiang Heping to a wounded, scarred man with severe head injuries. -
Ms. Li Wenjuan's Family from Shanghai City Arrested
2009-08-24Ms. Li Wenjuan and Ms. Zhong Yijun are both in their 60s. On June 5th, 2009, when Ms. Li was visiting Ms. Zhong at her home, they were arrested by police from Shanghai's Putuo District and local 610 officials. The police also arrested Ms. Li's husband and her son-in-law. The simultaneous arrest of the three family members frightened Ms. Li's pregnant daughter to have a miscarriage. After 24 hours of detention in the police station, Ms. Li's husband, who was in poor physical condition, was sent to the hospital. As a protest to the arrest, Ms. Li went on a hunger strike and became very weak physically. -
Ms. Peng Xiuying, in Her Sixties, Suffers Mental Breakdown as a Result of Persecution
2009-08-24After July 20th, 1999, Peng Xiuying went to Beijing to appeal for Falun Gong. After she returned home, she was arrested repeatedly by the local The "610 office". In November 2006, Peng Xiuying was arrested for the ninth time and taken to the Judong Women's Forced Labour Camp, where she was tortured severely. Two drug addicts were assigned by the guards to force Peng Xiuying to write the three Guarantee Statements to give up Falun Gong. When Peng Xiuying refused, they forced her to stand until 3:00 a.m. before she was allowed to sleep, and then she had to get up at 6:00 a.m. If she accidentally yawned, they would pull her hair, shake her or use match sticks to hold open her eyelids. They also forbade her to use the toilet as a form of torture. As a result of torture she suffered a mental breakdown. -
Ms. Liu Jinlian, 71, Sent to Forced Labour Camp Twice
2009-08-23Ms. Liu Jinlian, 71 years old, was sent to Wanjia Forced Labour Camp in 2001 for one year.because she was caught handing out Falun Gong materials in public. In the camp, she got progressively weaker. She had scabies all over her body. Eight years later, her body still has scars from the scabies. She was forced to watch TV programmes that slandered Falun Gong. Then the practitioners who had turned against Falun Gong tried to force her to write a Guarantee Statement to renounce Falun Gong. She refused. The guards then made her sit on a tiny bench for a long time, which caused her buttocks to develop raw sores. The authorities also made her sort toothpicks every day from dawn to dusk. In 2003 she was imprisoned in the camp again for one year of forced labour. She was brutally beaten there. -
Three Family Members Arrested and Detained; Four-Year-Old Deprived of Her Mother
2009-08-23Falun Gong practitioners Mr. Yin Xunzhen, Ms. Xu Shujie and Ms. Yin Qi were arrested in Zhuhai City, Guangdong Province and were arrested for four months. They have still not been released. The police have now submitted these cases to the courts for further persecution. Lin Weijia, Yin Qi's four-year old daughter, misses her mother every day since she was arrested. Every time she sees her mother's picture or the two Chinese characters meaning "Mother," her eyes fill with tears. She even asked, "Will Mum come home after I die?" It has been reported that Ms. Yin Qi has been suffering a torture called "Driving the Train" in the detention centre. This torture involves binding both legs and arms together for ten days continuously. -
Mr. Gong Yuping from Shandong Province Sent to Wangcun Forced Labour Camp
2009-08-23On June 1st, 2009, six policemen broke into 55-year-old Mr. Gong Yuping's home without warning while he was taking care of his grandson. They arrested him and several days later sentenced him to one year of forced labour. He is now in Wangcun Forced Labour Camp. In the afternoon of the same day, Mr. Gong's family went to the Jiangshan Police Station to ask for his release, but officers drove them away. Nine days after Mr. Gong was detained, he was sentenced to one year of forced labour. -
Four Practitioners Tried in Lanzhou City
2009-08-23On August 3rd, 2009, the Political and Judiciary Committee of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP), brought four Falun Gong practitioners to the Chengguan District Court for a trial. These practitioners have been held in the No. 1 Detention Centre in Lanzhou since August 2008. They were tried once before in the same court, on December 29th, 2008. Five months later they were sentenced, but their sentences were not made public. Recently, the court wanted to re-try them, saying it was because "the facts were not clear and the evidence was insufficient." -
Mr. Tian Fengwei in Critical Condition After Abuse at a Detention Centre
2009-08-22On April 29th, 2009, police and officials ransacked Mr. Tian Fengwei's house, arrested him and sent him to the Fengcheng Detention Centre. In the detention centre, Mr. Tian was forced to do heavy cleaning, wash dishes and wash bed sheets. He was forced to have his thumb print taken by six people. He was physically abused for two weeks, during which time he began to suffer from several ailments, including very high blood pressure. Due to Mr. Tian's precarious health condition he was released in May. However, Mr. Tian was arrested again in July. On their way to the police station Mr. Tian Fengwei's condition worsened and the police had to call an ambulance to take him to hospital. -
Many Practitioners in Panjin City, Liaoning Province Arrested, Harassed and Homes Ransacked
2009-08-22On July 21st, 2009, Huang Haiou and Chen Dongjiu, the Deputy Head of the Xinglongtai District Police Department's Domestic Security Division in Panjin City, Liaoning Province, organized about ten officials to break into Ms. Zhai Xiuhua's house and arrested her. The police subsequently ransacked her house and stole many personal belongings including computers and videos. Ms. Zhai Xiuhua is currently held at the Panjin City Detention Centre. In addition, many practitioners in the area have been arrested and harassed.
