  After causing Mr. Li Jianhou's death, at a meeting with prisoners, the jail's education department head Mr. Zeng commented on practitioners' demands of an investigation. He said that investigation into the death of Mr. Li and the beating of Mr. Zhou Mingfa are unreasonable and improper. Then he also slandered and attacked Dafa with many vicious words. Deyang Prosecutor, Director Mr. Huang, started a rumour that 10 or so detained practitioners violated rules by not reforming, and he requested inmates to spy on and report on practitioners, trying to intimidate the whole group.

• Personal Account of Forced Labour and Agonising Torture in Guizhou Province

  The government's policy of re-education through forced-labour stipulates that detainees can obtain 85 Yuan per month for living expenses (85 Yuan is about $10 USD). After deducting 5 Yuan for each incidental expense, actual living expense money given to each person was less than 60 Yuan per month. Under forced labour, we were forced to work long hours at the same task. Guards would deprive us of sleep for three days and nights in order to make us finish the assigned work within their time frame. Exhausted detainees would often fall sound asleep while squatting in the washroom or curled up under a pupil's desk. The suffering was so intense that, at the end of October, one drug-addict committed suicide by hanging himself and another jumped to his death from a building.

• Huludao City Police Round Up Practitioners For Brainwashing

  On October 22, 50-year-old Mr. Zhang Dongxue was taken to the Xingcheng Brainwashing Centre by Lianshan Police Station officers. After a day and a night of torture, he was vomiting blood. The "610 Office" was afraid that he might die at the brainwashing centre so they took him home, demanding a deposit of 2,000 Yuan, which the Zhang's family refused to pay. Over a year ago, Mr. Zhang Wenxue was fined over 10,000 Yuan by the police. Ms. Ru Yuehong, from Lianshan District, along with several other practitioners, was taken to Xingcheng Brainwashing Centre. The local police are still furiously rounding up practitioners.

  Policeman Song Jiancheng once intruded into a private residence by climbing over a barrier in the winter of 2000. He kidnapped a female Dafa practitioner and illegally sentenced her to one year of labour education. This female Dafa practitioner's child was very small and still being breast-fed at the time. Her husband was working away from home and her mother-in-law was in another province. Nobody was left at home to take care of the little baby.

The police then used pliers to pull out all his teeth on both sides of his mouth.   Later she was transferred to the Heizuizi Female Labour Camp in Changchun City, where she was forced to do slave labour and brutally tortured, both physically and mentally. She developed severe abdominal oedema and was released in July 2003. She had a constant fever after she had returned home. Xuan Honggui's husband, Zhao Yongtian, was deceived by the Jiang regime's lies and continued to abuse her. Xuan Honggui passed away in the morning of October 8, 2003.

• Chengdu City Dafa Practitioners Endure Illegal Jail Sentences and Brutal Torture

  Police blindfolded Dafa practitioners and led them to an outside hotel room where they tied the handcuffed practitioners to a heavy chair and interrogated them day and night. The abusive authorities don't allow practitioners to sleep. Even closing their eyes for a brief moment is forbidden. Oftentimes several police officers took turns interrogating one practitioner. These officers often used physical abuse and torment such as slapping, shocking with an electric stun baton, handcuffing, and hanging up, which are the most commonly used tortures. Sometimes the police also beat practitioners in the detention centre investigation room.

• Harbin City Practitioner is Tortured to Disablement and Illegally Sentenced to Fourteen Years in Prison

  On May 15, 2003, practitioner Ms. Sun Fenghua was arrested by Harbin City Police in Heilongjiang Province. While she was in detention, the police repeatedly shocked her with an electric baton, which left her body covered with scars. The police also connected live 220-volt electric lines directly to her hands, resulting in her immediate loss of consciousness. Ms. Sun is still unable to walk as a result of such a massive electrical shock. After more than twenty days of torture, the police sent her back to Hailun City Detention Centre, where she went on a hunger strike for more than four months.

  Ms. Wang was cruelly persecuted because she went on a hunger strike to resist the illegal detention. She was forced to wear handcuffs and shackles. The handcuffs were connected to the shackles so she could not stand up. Even more vicious than that, the prison doctor, Dr. Yi, and Guo Jin tortured her by pushing needles into all of her fingertips. Ms. Wang had been on a hunger strike for 30 days and was tortured like this for 25 days. It is an extremely painful and cruel torture. The same torture was used on her previously when she was detained last year. She was also tortured with a corrosive liquid, which they dropped into her nose.

My ankles were so swollen that they were as thick as my legs. They also covered my head with a plastic bag, and tied it around my neck to threaten to suffocate me. They did not open it until I had almost suffocated to death. Then, once I got my breath, they tied it again. They also clamped my fingers with two wooden sticks. I was in so much pain that I was shaking badly. After they got tired of beating me, they went out to have a tea break. After they came back, they continued beating me. Just like this, they beat me from morning until evening.

• Death of Dafa Practitioner Mr. Zhang Xiaodong in Gansu Province Due to Torture

  He was illegally arrested and detained at the No. 1 Detention Centre in Lanzhou City for over two years, merely for clarifying the truth about Dafa. Not only that, but the enforcers had also unlawfully sentenced him to seven years in prison. During over two years of detention, he was brutally tortured and was close to death and was later sent to a clinic. He passed away on October 24th, 2003 at Kangtai Hospital.

• Liu Chengjun's Life is In Danger--Police Will Not Allow Him Medical Parole

  He remained unconscious for an entire day following an inability to eat or drink for the past twenty-five days. He is a patient at Central Hospital, located within the Jilin Provincial Forced Labour Camp, where for many days he has been officially classified as "life at risk." Jilin City Prison has agreed to temporarily release him for medical treatment, but as he is a registered resident of Nong-an County, that would put him under the jurisdiction of the Nong-an County Police System, and they have refused to accept him because they are afraid to accept responsibility for his life. Consequently, the prison voided his medical parole forms, and Liu Chengjun has not been allowed to go home.
