  • Elderly Man on the Verge of Death After Being Sentenced in Huili County, Sichuan Province

    After the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) began persecuting Falun Gong in July 1999, Mr. Gao Guangchong was placed in leg irons and handcuffs, and was subjected to force-feeding. He was arrested eleven times, sent to labour camp, and forced to leave home to avoid further persecution twice. His home was ransacked numerous times, as well. Currently Mr. Gao's entire body is swollen from torture in Wumaping Prison, and he has been hospitalized in critical condition. His children went to the prison, saw the condition he was in, and requested that the prison release him. They have yet to hear from the prison.
  • Retired Professor from Chengdu City Jailed for Talking to People about Falun Gong Outside a Courthouse

    Ms. Tang Yuan, a 67-year-old Falun Gong practitioner, is a retired associate professor from the Central Culture Management Cadre College. On April 29th, she was talking to people about Falun Gong outside the courthouse where Falun Gong practitioner Chen Changyuan was being tried. She was later arrested near Fangcao Street Police Substation. Her home was searched, as well. Tang Yuan is still jailed at the Chengdu City Detention Centre.
  • Mr. Xu Bin's Seven Years of Incarceration and Torture

    Prior to the Communist regime's initiation of the persecution of Falun Gong on July 20th, 1999, 40-year-old Mr. Xu Bin worked at the Dukou Steel & Iron Factory in Panzhihua City, Sichuan Province. Over the next several years, Mr. Xu suffered severely under the persecution. He eventually left Wumaping Prison in Muchuan County, Leshan City, Sichuan Province in 2009, after enduring constant brainwashing and savage torture. However, another practitioner Liu Tianhou died as a result of torture at the Wumaping Prison.
  • Mr. Zhang Xingye Brutally Beaten by Daqing City Prison Personnel in Heilongjiang Province

    Mr. Zhang Xingye, a Falun Gong practitioner, was brutally tortured by the guards in Daqing City Prison recently. Guards used sticks to beat Mr. Zhang, which resulted in wounds all over his body. Handcuffs were put on his hands and fetters on his feet. He was left outside in the scorching sun for a long time, which caused Mr. Zhang to suffer heat stroke, and he had difficulty breathing. Mr. Zhang's father, who is 70, went to the Daqing City Prison to visit his son many times, but was turned away every time.
  • Mr. Zhou Xiangyang on Hunger Strike for Over a Year

    It has been over one year since Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Zhou Xiangyang started a hunger strike at the Gangbei Prison. In May 2009, because he was in critical condition, his family requested that he be released on bail for medical treatment. The prison officials agreed, however the prison stipulated that the family transfer Mr. Zhou's registered permanent address from Tianjin City to an address that was under the 610 Office's jurisdiction. Mr. Zhou's family refused to cooperate. Mr. Zhou weighs only 50 pounds.
  • Ms. Tang Min from Hunan Medical University Held In Mental Hospital

    In May 2009, Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Tang Min, from Hunan Medical University, was put into a mental hospital by her employer because she refused to give up her belief in Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance. Ms. Tang was injected with nerve-damaging drugs at the hospital, and she has yet to regain her freedom. After each injection, her body becomes cold, resulting in shivering and uneasiness. According to knowledgeable people, this type of drug damages the central nervous system, leading to slower reactions and other harmful effects.
  • Mr. Yang Guiquan's Family Seeks Justice for His Death to No Avail, a Hundred Policemen Are Dispatched to the Funeral

    On July 19th, 2009, Falun Gong practitioner Yang Guiquan's body was cremated. There were approximately a hundred policemen present. When Mr. Yang's friends went to the home to request to see Mr. Yang's body one last time, the security guards replied, "You can take a look at anyone else, but not Yang Guiquan." When Mr. Yang Guiquan, 45, was imprisoned at the Xindi Detention Centre in Fuxin City, he was tortured and died on July 5th, 2009. Major wounds appeared on his back as well as on the back of his skull. Signs of electric shocks were also observed on his legs. Mr. Yang's friends had tried to hire a lawyer to investigate the crimes committed by the authorities. However, none of the local lawyers dared to work on Mr. Yang's case. They were told, "Liaoning's People's Courts has recently released a document prohibiting lawyers from defending Falun Gong practitioners."
  • A Large Family Persecuted by the Chinese Communist Party

    A large family in Beipiao City, Liaoning Province, Mr. Wang Junru (father), Ms. Zhang Qingrong (mother), Mr. Wang Liang (son), Ms. Zhao Guoyun (daughter-in-law), Ms. Wang Jing (daughter), Mr. Zhao Xiaoming (son-in-law), and two children, Wang Xueting (female) and Zhao Hu (male) were persecuted by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) because they were Falun Gong practitioners. When the persecution started, one of the children was less than six years and the other only several months old.

    On August 20th, 2008, I went to distribute flyers about Falun Gong near Jilin Prison. I met a guard from the "joint defence." The guard was about 60 years old. I explained the facts about Falun Gong to him. Instead of listening, he beat me. As a result, my face was injured and turned black. There was a big bump under my left eye and my mouth bled. Three policemen held my arms while the other grabbed my hair. They dragged me and threw me against a wall from a distance of five metres. I heard a "thud," and the back of my head hit the wall firmly, making me dizzy. They threw me against the wall repeatedly, four or five times. I was so dizzy that I could not stand up. They ripped out clumps of my hair.
  • Young Man Partially Paralysed Due to Mistreatment in Police Custody in Nanjing City, Jiangsu Province, is Sentenced to 3 Years in Prison

    Mr. Chen Gang, a thirty six year old Falun Gong practitioner from Nanjing City, Jiangsu Province was arrested by the authorities of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) including police, court and procuratorate. During his detention, because of his practice of Falun Gong, he was mistreated to such an extent that his appearance was that of a man in his fifties. On July 10th, 2009, the corrupt court sentenced him to three years in prison.
  • Reunited in the Free World after Suffering Ten Years of Persecution

    On June 22nd, the flight from Beijing to Frankfurt was delayed for two hours. For Guo Jufeng, who had waited for 17 months, two more hours of waiting were not the end of the world. Guo is an engineer. He was tortured in China for practising Falun Gong. He came to Germany 17 months ago and was granted refugee status in Germany. That day he was waiting for his wife, Ms. Yu Hailing, a medical doctor, and his son, Guo Fangzhou, whom he had never met. After most of the passengers on the Beijing flight had disembarked, Guo finally saw his wife and their son. She was holding him in one hand and the baggage in the other. Tears ran down his face. As he reached for his son, the boy dodged, for Guo was a complete stranger to him.
  • The Torture that Mr. Liao Nuli Experienced at Sihui Prison in Guangdong Province

    On January 5th, 2004, Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Liao Nuli was sentenced to ten years by the Futian District Court in Shenzhen City. Mr. Liao was taken to Sihui Prison in Guangdong Province where he was subjected to brutal torture. In 2006, guard Zhong Shaobin ordered inmate Wang Guihai to beat Mr. Liao. After beating Mr. Liao unconscious, the prison's doctor diagnosed Mr. Liao as not in critical condition. Subsequently, guard Zhong again threatened Mr. Liao, telling him not to create any trouble or else the next time he would not be treated so lightly. Mr. Liao found the handling of this incident unacceptable and wrote a letter of appeal to the prison. The secretary and chief of the Seventh Division physically tortured Mr. Liao, increased the intensity of his labour, and punished him at night using methods such as running or military training. This type of physical torture lasted from 2004 to 2009.
  • Chengdu City Engineer Ms. Guo Lirong Arrested a Second Time

    Forty-five year-old practitioner Ms. Guo Lirong from Chengdu City in Sichuan Province is a former electrical engineer, having been fired simply because she practised Falun Gong. On the afternoon of July 18th, 2009, Ms. Guo was arrested a second time, while working in the Junxuwan Restaurant in Chengdu City. At approximately 4:30 p.m., police ransacked her home, and confiscated CDs, a computer and other family belongings.
  • After Inhuman Torture, Ms. Guan Yujing, a Judge from Fuzhou City, Is Once Again Arrested

    On June 23rd, 2009, Ms. Guan Yujing was taken away from her home. She is currently being detained at the No. 1 Detention Centre in Fuzhou City. Because she has refused to give up Falun Gong in the face of persecution, Guan Yujing had been sent to a mental hospital twice and was once sentenced to a year of forced labour. On January 14th, 2004, she was arrested while she was at work, and was sentenced to four years in prison. Ms. Guan used to have a happy family, but after her sentencing in 2004, her husband divorced her. Her family has also suffered a lot during these past years of persecution.
  • Mr. Lu Zhaoxin, 59, Dies after Three Forced Labour Terms in Liaoning Province

    Mr. Lu Zhaoxin, 59, was arrested and police forcibly took him to the Luotaishanzhuang Brainwashing Centre and later to the Wujiabao Forced Labour Camp in 2006. The last time he was arrested was on September 24th, 2007, when police found him carrying Falun Gong leaflets exposing the persecution on a bus and arrested him and was subsequently sent to the Wujiabao Forced Labour Camp. He was released in the spring of 2008. Due to being tortured severely in the labour camp, he became extremely weak and emaciated, lost his ability to work, and developed diabetes. He died on June 24th, 2009.
