The Chinese Communist Party's Shocking Persecution of Talented People in Mainstream Society
2011-01-12On December 27th, Ms. Zhu Ying, a former representative who attended the National People's Congress, and a national model worker in Xinxiang City, Henan Province, was deceived into leaving her home and arrested by police officers from the Dongdajie Police Station on September 27th. According to sources inside China, she was abused until her death in the Xinxiang City Detention Centre on November 30th, less than five weeks after being taken into police custody. Her body was cremated on December 2nd. Ms. Zhu had begun practising Falun Gong when she was fighting cancer, which was cured through her cultivation practice. -
Witnessing Torture at Masanjia Forced Labour Camp
2011-01-12I am a Falun Gong practitioner from Liaoning Province. I was taken to the Masanjia Forced Labour Camp in Shenyang City, Liaoning Province by the Dalian Domestic Security Division on September 20th, 2007. In that place, I witnessed the brutal persecution of Falun Gong practitioners. Regardless of the time, day or night, I could hear practitioners' pitiful screams as they were being tortured. Guards used any imaginable torture methods and brainwashed practitioners viciously in an effort to have practitioners renounce their belief. -
Family Threatened for Inquiring about the Cause of Mr. Cai Fuchen's Death
2011-01-12Practitioner Mr. Cai Fuchen was persecuted to death in Gongzhuling Prison on September 15th, 2010. Before being persecuted to death, Mr. Cai suffered brutal physical torture at the hands of the prison guards. According to the prison authorities, Mr. Cai committed suicide by jumping off a tall building. They refused to allow his family members to see his corpse. Mr. Cai's family members had strong doubts about the cause of his death and hired a lawyer to investigate. However, the prison, the Pingdong Procuratorate and the Changchun Procuratorate tried to shift the responsibility to each other. The deputy chief of the Pingdong Procuratorate even threatened Mr. Cai's family and their lawyer: “Appealing is just asking for more trouble. No one will ever help you.” -
Ms. Bai Gendi Released from Prison After Four and a Half Years of Torture
2011-01-12Ms. Bai Gendi was arrested in Shanghai in May 2006. The Shanghai 610 Office (an organisation of special agents just for persecuting Falun Gong) had declared June 14th and 15th, 2006, the dates of then-upcoming Six Country Summit, as sensitive dates and used this as an excuse to arrest Falun Gong practitioners at the time. In 2007, after being detained for 10 months, Ms. Bai was sentenced to four and a half years in prison by Shanghai's Xuhui District Court. She was released from the Songjiang Women’s Prison in Shanghai on November 22nd, 2010, after serving the full prison term. During the first eight months, she was frequently beaten, handcuffed and tied up with ropes. She was given very little food and water, deprived of sleep and kept in isolation. The guards put urine and unknown medical substances into her food. -
Lawyers Enter Not-Guilty Plea for Ms. Yang Jian from Tianjin
2011-01-11Wuqing District court officials held a hearing for Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Yang Jian on October 30th, 2010. Beijing lawyers Mr. Jin Guanghong and Mr. Xie Yanyi entered a not-guilty plea on her behalf. They pointed out that practising Falun Gong is not illegal in China, therefore Ms. Yang had committed no crime. The four-hour defence impressed those who observed the procedures. -
Fuzhou City 610 Office Prevents Lawyer from Meeting with and Reviewing his Falun Gong Practitioner Client’s Case
2011-01-11Mr. Wang Yongjin is a 37-year-old Falun Gong practitioner from Fuzhou City, Fujian Province. He holds a master’s degree in Ancient Chinese language and is an excellent writer. After the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) began its suppression of Falun Gong in 1999, he was arrested for refusing to give up his belief. In August 2010, he was arrested and taken to the Fuzhou City First Detention Centre. Mr. Wang’s family hired a lawyer from Beijing after learning of his arrest. However, guards at the detention centre flashed a statement supposedly signed by Mr. Wang expressing his intention not to use a lawyer. The lawyer also had doubts about the validity, legality, and authenticity of the statement, but he was still refused a meeting with Mr. Wang. -
Ms. Yang Weifang Sent to Forced Labour Camp, Family Visits Not Allowed
2011-01-11Ms. Yang Weifang was taken away in March 2010. She was sentenced to one year of forced labour and sent to Hewan Forced Labour Camp. Her family went to the labour camp on December 17th. The guards refused to let them visit Ms. Yang, saying that she behaved badly and refused to wear the prisoner's uniform. Her family was worried about her. Besides that, Ms. Yang's mother had never been allowed to visit her daughter. The guards said, “No visits from Falun Gong practitioners” and she is a Falun Gong practitioner. Ms. Yang was sent to Hewan Forced Labour Camp at the end of May 2010 and has been resisting the brainwashing ever since. The guards tortured her by making her stand for a long time and depriving her of sleep. -
Exposing the Forms of Torture Carried Out in the Communist Regime's Prisons and Other Facilities That Leave No Visible Wounds
2011-01-11One of the most brutal tortures Dr. Yang Guiyuan suffered in Guangzhou First Forced Labour Camp was when he was tied with ropes into the shape of a ball. He said, “They shredded military quilts to make ropes. These ropes can cause severe pain, but they don't leave any visible wounds. Guards started with my arms by tying them circle by circle. Then they made me double cross my legs and tied them up. The blood circulation in my arms and legs was cut off. My arms were tied behind my back. My wrists were tied together and lifted behind my back close to my neck, causing much pain. Finally, they pulled a rope from between my legs and put it around the back of my neck, pulling my head down into my legs. I was tied up like a ball, and after a while I couldn't feel anything." -
An Appeal from a 65-Year-Old Mother
2011-01-10In a few short years after the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) began persecuting Falun Gong in July 1999, my family was torn apart. My husband passed away, my daughter-in-law is still detained and being tortured in the Hunan Province Women's Prison, and my son has left home. My daughter-in-law was arrested on February 16th, 2010, in a hotel in Kunming City. She was then taken to Chenzhou City Detention Centre. There, she went on a hunger strike to protest the persecution. As a result, she was cuffed to a bed, brutally force-fed, and injected with unknown drugs until she was near death. When she lost consciousness, the guards pressed hard on an acupuncture point below her nose for more than 20 minutes until she regained consciousness. The inmates all cried in sympathy at what was happening to her. -
Ms. Zhao Yan's Sentence Extended in the Inner Mongolia Forced Labour Camp
2011-01-10Ms. Zhao Yan, in her 30s, was arrested by officers from the Beijing 610 Office (an organisation of special agents just for persecuting Falun Gong) in 2008, when she was reported to the authorities for talking to people about Falun Gong. She was first detained in Beijing and then sentenced to two years in Hohhot Women's Forced Labour Camp in Inner Mongolia, along with several other practitioners. Ms. Zhao was tortured both physically and mentally because she did not cooperate with the guards at the labour camp. She refused to wear the prison uniform or do forced labour. She would not recite the camp rules, nor would she write a guarantee statement to give up practising Falun Gong. As a result she was put in solitary confinement for a long period of time. -
Practitioner Ms. Liang Xiangjiao from Wuhan, Hubei Province, Given Five-year Prison Sentence
2011-01-10Ms. Liang Xiangjiao, a Falun Gong practitioner, was sentenced to one year of forced labour for distributing Falun Gong leaflets exposing the persecution of Falun Gong in 2006. In March 2009, she was arrested for putting up stickers exposing the persecution of Falun Gong. She was taken to Tangjiadun Brainwashing Centre in the Jianghan District, Wuhan and detained for 15 days. Her left ankle was struck and fractured. Hanyang District Court tried Ms. Liang on June 22nd, 2010. On July 14th, the Hanyang District Court sentenced her to five years in prison, and she was taken to the Wuhan Women's Prison, Hubei Province. -
Ms. Ren Yumin Persecuted at a Heilongjiang Province Forced Labour Camp
2011-01-10In a Heilongjiang Province forced labour camp, twelve Falun Gong practitioners have been persecuted cruelly since early July 2010. They were hung upside down, and forced to sit on iron stools and to write guarantee statements for stopping the practice of Falun Gong. Because Ms. Ren Yumin did not give up practising Falun Gong, she has been severely persecuted by guards. They lock Ms. Ren in solitary confinement at 5:00 a.m., force her to read many books, listen to CDs and watch videos designed to brainwash her, and then they usually do not allow her to go to bed until 2:00 a.m. -
Guan Qingyao of Fengcheng City, Liaoning Province Taken to Fushun Brainwashing Centre
2011-01-09On December 3rd, 2010, Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Guan Qingyao arrived home. Suddenly, Sun Xiaobin, chief of the Fengcheng Politics and Law Committee 610 Office (an organisation of special agents just for persecuting Falun Gong), led five to six police officers and broke into his house. They did not give a reason, show any ID or follow legal procedures. Guan Qingyao was pushed to the ground, and then dragged out of his house. Sun Xiaobin called Mrs. Guan and said: “Your husband is at Fushun Legal School, we want him to 'study' for a period there.” This is actually a private jail that detains Falun Gong practitioners and forces practitioners to give up their belief with pressure and deception. -
Outstanding Workplace Leader Imprisoned and Tortured by Chinese Communist Party for Practising Falun Gong
2011-01-09On November 28th, 2010, police officers arrested Falun Gong practitioner Zhang Jianping and his colleague, Wei Xiang, and detained them at the Hangzhou Detention Centre. Police from the Hangzhou City 610 Office (an organisation of special agents just for persecuting Falun Gong) said that Zhang and Wei had given Chinese Communist Party (CCP) officials in Zhang's work unit Falun Gong leaflets exposing the persecution. Wei Xiang started practising Falun Gong before July 20th, 1999, when the persecution began. Later, he was detained and tortured at Jidong Prison. Zhang Jianping is an accomplished leader in his field and at his workplace. One of the executives at the company called Mr. Zhang's arrest a huge loss for the company. -
High School Teacher Wang Hongxing Arrested
2011-01-09Police came to the Daqing 17th High School and arrested Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Wang Hongxing on December 17th. The officers interrogated him and intended to remove his belt, but Mr. Wang did not cooperate. They then kicked him with a lot of force, which caused him to lose his balance. At that time, his family stood outside and heard loud noises coming from the inside. They questioned the officers about why they were persecuting Mr. Wang for his belief in Falun Gong. The officers forcibly pushed Mr. Wang into a vehicle and sent him to the Dulitun Third Detention Centre in Daqing.
