Mr. Ma Zhiwu Recounts Eight Years of Suffering

The Chinese Communist Party (CCP) began to persecute Falun Gong on July 20th, 1999. Because of my belief, I was detained and imprisoned in Yinchuan Detention Centre, Ningxia Forced Labour Camp, and Wuzhong Prison for eight years. I experienced the most inhuman torture imaginable during those days. I couldn't understand why good people would be detained in a place that should only be for criminals. In August 2000, I started a hunger strike to protest the persecution and demand my freedom. They poured some milk down me through a tube in my nose after the doctor gave me anaesthesia. In order to make me suffer, they inserted the tube into my nose and kept inserting and pulling it out. Some pulled my arms, some pushed my legs down, some held my head. It was so painful that I wanted to die. -
60-Year-Old Falun Gong Practitioner Detained in Gongjiawan Brainwashing Centre for 22 Months

On June 19th, 2008, police seized Ms. Chen Guifang from her home. They also took away with them a dozen Falun Gong books and DVDs exposing the persecution of Falun Gong. They detained her in the notorious Gongjiawan Brainwashing Centre. The director repeatedly tried to force Ms. Chen to tell them the source of her Falun Gong materials. Ms. Chen went on hunger strike and was brutally force-fed. They forcibly injected the food into Ms. Chen's nose through a tube, twice a day. -
Mr. Zhang Yunping, 58, Died after Suffering Seven Years of Gross Mistreatment

Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Zhang Yunping was arrested in March 2003. When he went on a protest hunger strike he was brutally beaten and shocked with electric batons. While serving an eight-year term in Jidong Prison, he was brutally tortured. Mr. Zhang Yunping suffered severe physical and psychological damage after his arrest. The prison released him on medical parole on February 23rd, 2010. He died on September 6th, at the age of 58. -
Recent Activities of the 610 Office in the Chuanhui District, Zhoukou City, Henan Province
2010-10-05The 610 Office (an organisation of special agents just for persecuting Falun Gong) in Zhoukou City, Henan Province, has always used underhanded methods to persecute Falun Gong practitioners, and since late August 2010, it has begun another round of persecution. On August 31st, about seven police officers suddenly broke into the home of Ms. Li Changying, 66 years old and Sun Zhanping, 70 years old. They ransacked the home and took Falun Gong books and materials, a desktop computer, a laptop, a digital camera and both of their salary cheques. Police sent both of them to Zhoukou Detention Centre. -
Hebei 610 Office Directs the Persecution at the Laishui County Party School in Baoding City
2010-10-05Four people from the Hebei 610 Office (an organisation of special agents just for persecuting Falun Gong) and the Baoding City 610 Office went to the Laishui County Party School [Party schools are used to train officials for the Chinese Communist Party] on September 15th, demanding that the intensity of the persecution of Falun Gong practitioners be increased and that each county bring more practitioners to the Party school. Falun Gong practitioners from Laishui County and Yongyang County were arrested yesterday afternoon. Two people from the Baoding 610 Office are now staying in the Party school to carry out forced brainwashing. -
Female Practitioner from Heilongjiang Persecuted in Shiijingshan Detention Centre in Beijing
2010-10-05After the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) started persecuting Falun Gong, Ms. Wang Liqing went to Beijing to appeal for the practice. She was arrested in Tiananmen Square and detained in Beijing's Shijingshan Detention Centre for over 40 days. When she was released, she weighed barely 80 pounds. Here is an account of her experience in her own words: "I was beaten by criminal inmates and they collected cold water with a basin and poured it over me. Prison head threatened me so that I would give up Falun Gong. I was interrogated many times to obtain my address. Since I would not divulge my name and address, the investigator threatened to send me to the Eighth Male Ward to be bullied by male criminals." -
Twenty-Four Falun Gong Practitioners from Laishui County, Hebei Province Have Been Taken to Chinese Communist Party (CCP) Brainwashing Sessions
2010-10-05Recently, in Laishui County, Hebei Province, brainwashing sessions were set up by the Chinese Communist regime to persecute Falun Gong practitioners from various areas of Laishui. According to sources, twenty-four practitioners have been taken into custody and forced to attend the Laishui brainwashing sessions. Among these cases, the persecution of practitioners in Wangchun, Shiting Town and Louchun Village has been particularly severe. Falun Gong practitioner Xing Xiumin tried to explain the truth about Falun Gong to the staff who were overseeing practitioners. As a result, she was beaten by Zhang Jiuhong until she could not walk. She has since returned home. -
I Was Severely Tortured in Huizuizi Forced Labour Camp in Jilin Province
2010-10-04I am a 52-year-old female from Changchun City in Jilin Province. I was a high school teacher. Since practising Falun Gong, I have been detained twice, lived under supervision once, and was sentenced to one year of forced labour. During my time in Heizuizi Forced Labour Camp I was cruelly tortured. During my two years in the forced labour camp, the guards used many vicious tactics to try to force me to give up my belief. All of the practitioners who arrived new to the camp were "greeted" at the entrance door with electric shock. The guards were always armed with electric batons. They used the batons to threaten, terrorise, and shock me (among others), and I remained bedridden after suffering from a heart attack. -
The Persecution of Retired Teacher Ms. Sun Yajun from Jiutai City, Jilin Province
2010-10-04Ms. Sun Yajun, 60 years old, is a retired teacher from Jiutai City Vocational High School in Jilin Province. She was detained twice after the communist regime launched the persecution of Falun Gong more than ten years ago. Ms. Sun's employers fined her and sent her to a mental hospital, where she was forced to take unknown drugs. The drugs caused her to experience a rapid heartbeat, dizziness, and fear of walking. When she was released eleven days later, she felt a noticeable decline in memory and slowness in response. She recovered only several months later. Since her return home, her family has a lot of money extorted from them, the exact amount unknown. -
The Persecution of Ms. Guo Huili, a Teacher From Tianjin
2010-10-04Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Guo Huili started to practise Falun Gong in 1995. After the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) started to persecute Falun Gong in 1999, Ms. Guo was sent to a forced labour camp for two years, during which time she was subjected to various forms of torture, such as being forced to stand for long periods of time, sleep deprivation, brainwashing and others. After she was released, her school refused to reinstate her job. She was forced to leave her home after local police tried to send her to a brainwashing centre. -
Falun Gong Practitioners from Shuangluan District, Chengde County, Hebei Province Recently Detained
2010-10-04The 610 Office authorities (an organisation of special agents just for persecuting Falun Gong) in Chengde County arrested Falun Gong practitioners from eight counties and three districts, and forced them into a brainwashing centre. Police went to Falun Gong practitioner Dong Duoli's home several times. When they could not find her, they demanded Ms. Dong's husband to persuade her to give up her belief, and to sign statements to renounce practising Falun Gong. -
Ms. Ma Yuming, In Her Fifties, Dies after Being Poisoned in Detention Centre
2010-10-03On May 1st, 2010, Ms. Ma Yuming went to distribute leaflets exposing the persecution of Falun Gong in Liuzhou City. While making her way home, she was searched at the South Train Station, and the police found Falun Gong materials in her possession. She was taken to Liuzhou Railroad Police Department Detention Centre, where guard Xie Junrong forced Ms. Ma to take part in a series of military training exercises in the last week of May, despite the fact that she was suffering from high blood pressure. Unbeknownst to Ms. Ma, every day the guards laced her food with unknown drugs, causing her condition to worsen to the point that she eventually became very confused and then lost consciousness. On June 19th, Ms. Ma passed away at Liuzhou Central Hospital. -
Jiamusi Practitioner Ms. Wang Shuying Arrested
2010-10-03After the persecution of Falun Gong practitioners began in 1999, forty-seven-year-old Ms. Wang Shuying was repeatedly arrested for her beliefs, and lost her government job. In September 2010, police arrested her again. She is currently detained at the Jiamusi Detention Centre. In 2003, she was arrested after being reported by her neighbour for practising Falun Gong exercises at home. She was subjected to three years of forced labour, but was spared because she was in serious condition from persecution. -
Additional Information Regarding the Death of Fifty-Five Year-Old Ms. Liu Shuling
2010-10-03Ms. Liu Shuling, 55, died in the Harbin Women's Drug Rehabilitation Centre and Forced Labour Camp on July 3rd, 2010. There was a ring of dried blood around her neck. According to sources inside China, at around the time of her death, about a dozen Falun Gong practitioners were physically tortured in different ways, including being hanged by handcuffs, being forced to sit on metal chairs, etc. in attempts to "transform"[forcibly renounce Falun Gong] them. Ms. Liu refused to be "transformed" and was tortured to death. After her death, the camp immediately held a meeting, where everyone was ordered to say that Ms. Liu passed out suddenly in the toilet and died due to heart disease. In order to prevent information from leaking out, even the guards were not allowed to talk to each other during that time. -
Older Practitioner Mr. Niu Ruiyi Secretly Sentenced to Six Years in Prison by Gangu County Court in Gansu Province
2010-10-03Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Niu Ruiyi, 65, was arrested on January 21st, 2010. He was sentenced to six years in prison. In late May and early June of this year, some detainees who had been recently released from the Gangu County Detention Centre said that Mr. Niu had been sentenced. However, neither the police, the Procurator, nor the court gave Mr. Niu's family members a notice of trial, or any legal document. Because of this, Mr. Niu's family could not serve as or hire legal representatives to defend him in court. The lawyer who was assigned to Mr. Niu by the court was not allowed to meet with him or write letters to Mr. Niu's family members. After the trial, the family was still not notified promptly. Mr. Niu has become very thin from the abuse and some of his body has become deformed.
