• Police in Weifang City, Shandong Province Arrest Ms. Dai Zongzhen and Her Daughter; Their Family is Once Again Being Persecuted

  On April 18th, 2007, more than 20 plainclothes police officers went to a kindergarten run by practitioner Ms. Dai Zongzhen and took Ms. Dai by force, throwing her into a minibus. Ms. Dai shouted for help at the top of her lungs. The police officer in charge said viciously, "Stuff her underneath the seat." Then the police ransacked the kindergarten and took electronic equipment, Falun Dafa books and about 8,000 yuan in cash. Ms. Dai was held at the Weifang City Detention Centre. The police threatened to "bury her alive." Three days later she was transferred to an unknown location. Now, her whereabouts are still unknown.

• Practitioners Zhang Hongying, Zhang Jiashuang, and Lu Tao from Miyi County, Sichuan Province Sentenced to Prison for Handing Out Informational Materials about Falun Gong

  On Sunday, June 17th, 2007, the Miyi County Court held a trial to prosecute practitioners Ms. Lu Tao, Ms. Zhang Hongying, and Ms. Zhang Jiashuang. The court didn't notify the families about the trial. The judge asked the practitioners if the charges read were true. Ms. Lu said that she distributed the leaflets exposing the persecution in order to dispel the state propaganda attacking the practice. Ms. Zhang said, "The truth about Falun Gong is to inspire people to develop kind hearts. It is not about guns or nuclear weapons." The judge didn't know what to say. Later the court secretly sentenced them to sentences of up to five years imprisonment.

• Police at Shengli Oil Field in Shandong Province Persecute Middle School Student in Brainwashing Centre to Locate and Arrest Her Father

  In order to locate Falun Dafa practitioner Mr. Yue Guomin, who had left his home in order to avoid being persecuted by the authorities, police officer Dong Ning from the Binhai Police Station at Shengli Oil Field, in Shandong Province, arrested Mr. Yue's daughter, Yue Qun, a student from the No. 1 Middle School in Shengli Oil Field. The police took her to Jishu Company Brainwashing Centre, where she was persecuted for five days. The police coerced Yue Qun into divulging the whereabouts of her father.

• Older Falun Gong Practitioner in Jimo City, Shandong Province Arrested

  on June 16th, 2007, police and several local officials climbed into the fenced yard of Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Zhang Xiuying's house. Ms. Zhang Xiuying stayed in the house with her door closed. When she asked what they were doing there, Dong Quanqi said, "Somebody reported that you had distributed flyers." The police kicked the door but failed to get in, and then called Chen Yucheng, the director of the Lingshan Police Station. Chen ordered them to smash down the door. They beat the old lady to the ground and dragged her to a police vehicle. Ms. Zhang kept shouting "Falun Dafa is good!" and was exposing the atrocity being perpetrated by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) regime. Later, the authorities searched Zhang's house and confiscated property, making a huge mess in her home. The kitchen range was destroyed and the windows were broken.

• Sham Trial in Jilin City, Jilin Province Illustrates Lack of Justice for Falun Dafa Practitioners in China

  On July 10th, judge Hu Chunwei of the Chuanying District Court in Jilin City, Jilin Province, put five practitioners on trial. Under pressure, the lawyer employed by Ms. Wang Liqiu's family could not enter a plea of innocence; he had to defend Ms. Wang according to the orders of the court authorities. During the so-called court session, Ms. Zhao Yingjie pointed out that after she was arrested, the police officers pierced her lower body with sticks covered in nails. She showed the wounds on her legs as evidence. Mr. Zhao Guoxing brought to court as evidence his clothes soaked with blood and stained with mustard oil, which he vomited when he was being force-fed. The evidence that was preserved for 4 months under arduous conditions was snatched away by the police.

• Ms. Cao Lijiao Sentenced to Forced Labour and Mr. Luo Xiangjiang's Term Extended in Xiangtan City, Hunan Province

  Kan Guilian (in her fifties) and Li Tiejun (in her sixties) were arrested by police on April 26th, 2007 while they were informing people about the persecution of Falun Gong, dispelling the state propaganda attacking the practice and urging them to withdraw from the Chinese Communist Party (CCP). Li Tiejun has now returned home. Cao Lijiao has since been sentenced to forced labour by agents from the city's 610 Office. At present, Cao Lijiao is imprisoned at the Baimalong Women's Labour Camp in Zhuzhou City.

• Five Falun Gong Practitioners in Jilin City Face Prison Sentences after Being Cruelly Tortured

  Five Falun Gong practitioners in Jilin City, Jilin Province who were arrested in mid February 2007 were forced to appear at a court session on July 10th, 2007. The police cruelly tortured all five practitioners in attempt to extort confessions from them. They were force-fed with spicy mustard oil, their legs were compressed with spiral steel bars, and police sexually assaulted a female practitioner with a wooden stick. Some practitioners have been tortured until they lost consciousness, but when they came to, they were tortured again.

• Ms. Li Yunjiu and Ms. Shi Qunyang from Pengzhou City, Sichuan Province Sentenced to Prison

  Pengzhou City Police Department in Sichuan Province used the made up accusation of "disturbing social order" to detain Falun Gong practitioners Li Yunjiu and Shi Qunyang at the Pengzhou City Detention Centre. We have recently heard that Li Yunjiu had been sentenced by secret trial to five years of imprisonment, and Shi Qunyang was sentenced to three years of imprisonment. Lin Gang went personally to Ms. Shi's residence after she was sentenced to prison and threatened her husband, saying, "If you don't divorce your wife, you will not get your pay."

• Two Older Female Practitioners from Huludao City Arrested By Police from Shaguotun Township Police Station

  On May 22nd, 2007, two Dafa practitioners, Xiao Shusheng and Wei Mingzhen were distributing leaflets exposing the persecution in the market at Shaguotun Township when they were arrested by police from the Shaguotun Township Police Station. Ms. Xiao's husband tried to visit his wife many times but he was always refused by the police. Ms. Wei's mother-in-law has gone to Nanpiao Police Station to enquire about Ms. Wei's situation, and Ms. Wei's son also went to the detention centre to see his mother, but they were also turned away.   On the morning of July 10th, 2007, police officers from the Zhengyang Police Station broke into the homes of Falun Dafa practitioners Mr. Man Shujie and Mr. Zuo Zhongren without cause and arrested three practitioners. Later that day police arrested Mr. Cui Zhanyun. He has been arrested seven times. His daughter Ms. Li Shuhua died as a result of torture at the National Security Team of Yushu City and the Yushu Detention Centre. Mr. Cui's son-in-law, Mr. Yang Zhanjiu, was sentenced to eight years of imprisonment, and he is now detained in Sipingshiling Prison. His lower body has been paralysed due to torture

  On June 4th, 2007, Yang Anle and Yang Xizhong with more than ten policemen from Nancheng Police Station broke into a photo studio operated by practitioner Mr. Meng Zhaomin and his wife. They abducted Meng Zhaomin, and also took a recorder, audio tapes, Falun Dafa books, and recordings. Two days later, Yang Anle and some other police officers went to the photo studio and asked for Mr. Meng's clothes. They said he had been sent to the Langfang Criminal Detention Centre (known to be a brainwashing centre).

  Police came to my home and carried me into a vehicle. A police officer stepped on my head until we arrived at the county government building. They wrote something and attempted to force me to sign it. I refused. The policemen handcuffed me behind the back, and one person on each side beat me. I was knocked down to the ground. They stepped on my head. That same night they sent me to the Shuangchen Detention Station. It was very cold, but they stripped me naked. They poured cold water on me for a long time. I was shivering from the cold. After suffering 15 days of such torture I was sent to Harbin City Wanjia Concentrated Training Team for another five days. Then I was sent to Changlinzi Forced Labour Camp.

• Examples of How the Police "Arrest" Falun Gong Practitioners in Wuhan City, Hubei Province

  In March 2004, Jin Zhiping, the chief of the Qiaokou Police Precinct, led other officials to secretly arrest Falun Gong practitioners Huang Zhao and Liu Ning at their home and search it. Huang Zhao was tortured to death within 24 hours at the Qiaokou Police Precinct office. The police blocked all information about this. Even Huang's family was not informed. Liu Ning escaped from the police office and told her parents that she had been arrested. At that time, none of them were informed about Ms. Huang's death. Her father immediately went to see Jin Zhiping at the police precinct office and asked for her. Jin was astonished: "How do you know Huang is here?" Jin then deceived her father by saying that she was fine. Actually, she had passed away days earlier. After two weeks, the police could no longer cover up the case. Finally, they informed Ms. Huang's family that she had died, but lied and said that she had committed suicide.

• Five Practitioners Battered by Torture are Brought into Court on Stretchers to Stand "Trial"

  On July 10th, court hearings were held in the Chuanying District of Jilin City in Jilin Province for five Dafa practitioners. They were all so severely tortured that they were carried into the courtroom on stretchers. All five had been tortured for two days in the Yuesanlu Police Station. Ms. Zhao Yinjie was poked by an electric baton and force-fed mustard oil. Di Shigang, the director of the National Security Bureau, force-fed practitioner Wang Liqiu eight bottles of mustard oil. Practitioner Zhao Guoxing was force-fed horseradish roots and beaten with a steel bar. His kneecaps and calves were seriously injured. Practitioner Liu Yuhe was tortured until he could no longer walk. More than 20 policemen beat Mu Chunhong and force-fed her two bottles of mustard oil.

• Two Courts in Jilin Province Hastily Hold Large-scale "Trials" of Arrested Falun Gong Practitioners

  On July 10th, 2007, the Chuanying District Court in Jilin City, Jilin Province, found many Falun Dafa practitioners, who had been arrested, guilty of the false charges that had been brought against them. On the same day, the Changyi Court in Jilin City sentenced many practitioners including Guo Yunqing, and one with the surname of Fu, who had been persecuted and had to sit in a wheelchair to participate in the trial. It is the first time in Jilin Province that two courts put practitioners on trial at the same time. The authorities violated standard legal procedures and only allowed attendance by one person from each family of those on "trial."
