• Personal Account of Three Years of Brutal Persecution at the Notorious Masanjia Forced Labour Camp

  On March 2nd, 2003, I was arrested by the local police. I was sentenced to three years in the forced labour camp and was sent to the notorious Masanjia Forced Labour Camp. I was not allowed to sleep for over ten days at the Masanjia Forced Labour Camp. I was forced to stand in the corridor or the toilet. Every day, five or six collaborators besieged me and forcibly tried to brainwash me. Later I was ordered to go inside the room to do slave labour. They besieged me while I was working. I was still not allowed to sleep. Every day the guards swore at me, pushed me, and beat me.

• Mr. Zheng Rongchang from Hebei Province Forced into Xiaobailou Brainwashing Centre

  Early in the morning on August 11th, 2006, Falun Dafa practitioner Mr. Zheng Rongchang was forced from his home and taken to the 610 Office brainwashing centre. He is followed no matter if he is eating, sleeping, and even using the toilet. As soon as he wants to do the exercises, someone will stop him immediately. He is forced to watch videos that slander Falun Gong, or listen to fabricated nonsense in order to force him to write the "four statements" to renounce Falun Dafa. The 610 Office Head said to him, "You were raised by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP), and you are against the CCP. You must be mentally ill, and I want to lock you up in the mental hospital."

• Practitioner Living in Sweden: The Persecution Separated Our Family

  Since July 20th, 1999, Falun Gong practitioners, including my mother Li Hua and my step-father Huang Shengjie, have been subject to various forms of persecution by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP). In February 2006, the police took my mother and my step-father away from their home. The police charged my mother in court and requested a two and a half year prison sentence. But the court didn't accept the case, as my mum's conduct was not serious enough to receive a sentence. Nonetheless my mum is still incarcerated at the Qinghe Forced Labour Camp in Beijing. At the same time, my step-father is also unlawfully detained at an unknown place.

• Ten Types of Torture I Experienced During Imprisonment at Masanjia Labour Camp

  In 28 months, the perpetrators used over ten different methods to torture me including "Back lock" where one arm crosses the front of the body, while the other crosses behind the back, and the hands are locked together behind the back. The neck is tied to the feet with rope, making it impossible to raise the head. One's body cannot sustain such a position, and after over forty minutes, I was sweating all over, and my heart could not bear it any longer. I was only unlocked after they realised that I would die if the torture continued.

• Ms. Dai Ying, Living in Europe, Recounts the Cruel Torture She Suffered in China

  On March 5th, 2000, I went to Beijing to appeal against the persecution. Police detained me in Futian District Detention Centre. In order to resist and protest the persecution, I went on a hunger strike and the police force-fed me. They put a very rigid tube into my nose until I bled. When the tube did not reach my stomach, they forced my teeth open with a screwdriver. Then they put a bamboo barrel with a very sharp end into my mouth with a lot of force. My mouth hurt immediately. After that, they force-fed me with food or condensed salt water. I felt like choking. After they finished the forced-feeding, I felt as if I had died.

  Zhao Jucai was arrested in March 2006 at his home and was detained in Yidu City's No. 1 Detention Centre. In the beginning of July 2006, Zhao Jucai was sentenced to a five years of imprisonment. However, another court trial was held on August 31st, 2006, in which his term was extended for another two years. Before the second trial, Zhao Jucai was almost disabled. He had trouble walking because he was so weak as a result of severe persecution.

  Practitioners were frequently taken to isolated places, where selected individuals took turns driving them into the wall or iron beds by pulling their hands and deliberately tripping them. The perpetrators repeated this again and again for pleasure, while saying that they were 'giving lectures.' The practitioners were forced to stay longer if they did not cooperate. The brutal persecution of these female practitioners is constantly changing and it seems there is no end to the cruelty. Even a glance between practitioners incurs a beating. They also commonly rub an unknown drug on the practitioners at random.

  In August 2001, guard Liu Hong brutally tortured practitioners Wang Jie and Li Cuifang. They were compelled to submit to the "forced backbend" position. [Note: This is a very painful form of torture in which one arm is reaching down the back behind the head and the other hand meets it from the lower back. The hands are handcuffed together to cause unbearable pain] They were handcuffed with their hands up, in front of their chests, for a month. Sleep was forbidden. The handcuffs remained, even when they were eating or using the toilet.

• Sanshui Forced Labour Camp Refuses Relatives' Request for the Release of Falun Dafa Practitioners

  Ms. Jiang Jiayin, Ms. Jiang Lanlan, and Mr. Wu Xiyuan, practitioners in their fifties, were arrested and detained in Sanshui Forced Labour Camp for four months. Ms. Jiang's mother went to Sanshui Labour Camp to request the release of their relatives. She wore a T-shirt to the camp with these words written in large letters: "Wronged" and "Give me back my daughters Jiang Jiayin and Jiang Lanlan." On the back it said: "There is no crime in having a faith, stop the persecution." The T-shirt was violently stripped off Ms. Jiang's mother by labour camp guards. They then threatened her, "If you do this in any other place, you will be sentenced to several years in prison."

  Practitioners who refused to renounce Falun Gong were forced to stand in the corner facing the wall from 6:00 a.m. to 1:00 a.m. or 4:00 a.m. the next morning. Sometimes practitioners were forced to stand all night. Inmates took turns to monitor us around the clock. In this vicious environment, physically abused and injured practitioners were forced to clean the floor on their knees [because they no longer could stand after standing for long hours.] Fifty-eight-year-old Zhao Jinquan's ankles were so swollen that they became as thick as his calves. Some practitioners had been forced to stand daily for five months or a year. I was forced to stand still daily for over three months.

But now, due to the tortures he experienced in a labour camp, he is skinny and weak, his body is covered with wounds and his previously black hair is grey. He cannot walk normally and his mental health has been damaged too. Before the persecution, he had perfect teeth, but in the labour camp, most of his teeth were knocked out. Now, he cannot chew anything, and his gums bleed whenever he tries to eat something. He is out of the labour camp now, but he is very weak. He vomits blood daily due to internal injuries and he is in a very dangerous situation.

  On September 13th, 2006, police arrested me and interrogated me. I was only allowed to sleep one hour every day. After several days, I was traumatised and exhausted. I could see no hope of getting out. I wanted the persecution to end, so I made up a false oral confession. After that I just fabricated things as I thought of them and gave the police several other false oral confessions. I wrote that after I was released I would mobilise other Falun Gong partitioners to hand in Falun Gong materials and would secretly investigate those who made Falun Gong materials. Now I solemnly declare that the two guarantee statements I wrote in September 2006 are null and void.

  Since the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) began the persecution of Falun Gong practitioners, Ms Zhang Lianying has been arrested several times, detained, severely persecuted and narrowly escaped death. She was imprisoned at the Jiamusi Women's Forced Labour Camp in Heilongjiang Province in 2001. There she suffered unbelievable physical and mental persecution to force her to give up her belief in Falun Gong. The police tied her on a bench for long periods of time and then to a "death bed" for more than forty days. They shocked her with electric batons, beat her cruelly, force-fed her savagely, among other torments.

  In the forced labour camp two male guards attempted to force me to write the "three statements" to renounce Falun Dafa. Yao Fuchang went crazy and shocked my temples with a newly equipped, high-energised electric baton. I was shocked so severely that I fell down twice. He shouted crazily, "I am an evil spirit! I came to torture you!" He made me squat for one day and one night. As I still refused to write the statements, he handcuffed me behind my back with the smallest handcuffs and hung me from the bedpost. My arms were raised high, and my lower body had to squat. It was extremely painful.

• College Teacher Mr. Meng Fanquan from Hebei Polytechnic University Was Arrested and Tried

  On September 12th, 2006, Mr. Meng Fanquan was brought to Lubei Court in a police car and subjected to a sham trial. Only three of his family members were allowed in to listen. Mr. Meng represented himself, defending his innocence. There were about 50 or 60 people in the yard who had come to support him. One of them cried: "Release Meng Fanquan and declare him not guilty!" As he was about to step into the car, his wife bravely rushed over the security line, but officers pushed her away. Someone called out: "Don't beat people!"
