  • Update: Details on the Death of Falun Gong Practitioner Mr. Zhou Yong in Chengdu City, Sichuan Province

    On September 29th, 2001, Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Zhou Yong was arrested at home by two policemen. They did not show any identification and ransacked Mr. Zhou's home. He refused to go with them. It was said Mr. Zhou fell from his sixth floor apartment. A guard at the hospital gate said that Mr. Zhou was still struggling to free himself from the stretcher as he was carried into the hospital. He died that same night. About an hour before the incident, Mr. Zhou was talking to a friend and seemed to be perfectly fine. Leaders at Mr. Zhou's workplace ordered the staff to tell people that Mr. Zhou had died of natural causes. They did not allow any memorial service or obituary notice for Mr. Zhou.
  • Two Family Members Persecuted to Death, Mr. Peng Liang Once Again Arrested

    On January 27th, the Public Security Bureau arrested Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Peng Liang and sent him to the detention centre. During the more than 11 years of persecution by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP), two of Mr. Peng's five family members have been persecuted to death, and his father was recently persecuted while at a brainwashing centre, until he became mentally unstable. Mr. Peng's sister, Ms. Peng Yan had also been jailed for three years for practising Falun Gong.
  • Mr. Zheng Libin Passed Away after Years of Brutal Persecution and Torture

    Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Zheng Libin was brutally persecuted with beatings, electric shocks and forced-feeding by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP), because he exposed the lies and deceitful tactics – specifically, a fabricated slanderous news story – used by the CCP to persecute Falun Gong. In order to keep the scandal quiet, the CCP brutally tortured Mr. Zheng, leaving him in critical condition several times. Zheng Libin passed away on June 1st, 2010, just 38 years of age.
  • In Remembrance of Fellow Practitioner Mr. Hu Dali, Tortured to Death for Practising Falun Gong

    The Minghui website [Chinese version of the Falun Gong website Clearwisdom.net] published an article reporting that fellow practitioner Hu Dali had been tortured to death. I was deeply saddened. I haven't seen him for about 10 years, but I'd been waiting for him to return home and practise Falun Gong again. He suffered many hardships, and, in the end, the Communist regime tortured this wonderful young man to death. I met Mr. Hu Dali in a forced labour camp and spent a few months with him, during which time we encouraged each other to protest the persecution.
  • Former Political Section Chief of Liaozhong County Police Department Tortured to Death – Additional Information

    Mr. Han Qingcai, 62, was the former Political Section Chief of the Liaozhong County Police Department in Liaoning Province. In 2001, he went to Beijing to appeal to the government for the right to practise Falun Gong and was arrested and sentenced to four years in prison. In the Liaozhong County Prison, he was persecuted almost to death before being released on August 8th, 2003. He died eleven days later on August 19th.
  • Mr. Cong Rixu Sentenced to Prison, His Mother Passes Away

    Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Cong Rixu was putting up posters exposing the persecution of Falun Gong in public when he was arrested by police. Mr. Cong was sentenced to three years in prison. His mother was traumatised by these events and was also harassed and threatened by policemen many times. As a result, her health declined and she did not get to see her son for the last time before passing away on January 8th, 2011. Learning of his grandson's sentencing, Mr. Cong's grandfather also became ill and paralysed. Mr. Cong's family wanted Mr. Cong to come home for his mother's funeral and visit his elderly grandfather, but their request was denied by the prison authorities. Mr. Cong has already served two years and is currently in District No. 4 of Nanguanling Prison in Dalian.
  • Thirty-nine-year-old Pharmacist Hu Dali Died as a Result of Torture and Abuse at Dujun City Fourth Prison, Guizhou Province

    Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Hu Dali was a pharmacist with the Xiuwen County Traditional Chinese Medicine Hospital. While other pharmacists enjoyed fat kickbacks from drug vendors, he always turned down such opportunities. Even though many of his colleagues stole medicines for their family members and friends, he insisted on seeing prescriptions before dispensing any drugs. After the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) began to openly persecute Falun Gong on July 20th, 1999, the police first incarcerated Hu Dali in a forced labour camp from November 1999 to May 2002 and then sentenced him to ten years in prison in August 2003. He was tortured and abused in detention, and died in prison on January 19th, 2011, at the age of 39.
  • Falun Gong Practitioner Zhou Yuren Exposes Atrocities at Liaoyang's Huazi Prison

    Practitioner Mr. Zhou Yuren was arrested in May 2003, for exposing the death by torture of his younger sister Zhou Yuling. Mr. Zhou was sentenced to six years imprisonment, where he experienced and witnessed the persecution of practitioners in Liaoyang's Huazi Prison. Mr. Zhou exposed the atrocities after he was released from prison. 59 Falun Gong practitioners were being held at the Huazi Prison when he was there, and six died due to torture.
  • Mr. Man Shouzheng Became Ill and Died after Suffering Torture in Wangcun Forced Labour Camp

    Mr. Man Shouzheng, 63, from Weifang City, Shandong Province, was sentenced to one year in a forced labour camp for practising Falun Gong. When he was released in March 2010, he could no longer talk because he had developed late-stage tongue cancer. He previously weighed 176 pounds, but after being severely persecuted in the labour camp he weighed less than 110 pounds. After nine months of torture and pain, Mr. Man passed away on December 3rd, 2010.
  • Falun Gong Practitioners Tortured in Huhehaote Women's Forced Labour Camp

    Huhehaote Women's Forced Labour Camp began imprisoning and torturing Falun Gong practitioners in September 1999. The camp guards use several torture techniques on practitioners, including brainwashing, physical punishment, sleep deprivation, hanging up by handcuffs, force-feeding, and electric shock. The guards force practitioners to do slave labour from 5:00 a.m. to midnight. Some practitioners have been tortured until they lost their sanity; some died. In the summer of 2001, guard Zhang Siqin ordered inmate Zhang Lijuan to force-feed Ms. Qing Kejing from Baotou. The camp prisoners heard Ms. Qin scream every day at 1:00 p.m. She died in early 2003.
  • Elderly Associate Professor at Yanbian University, Ms. Xu Xianzi, Dies as a Result of Persecution

    Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Xu Xianzi, 70, suffered long-term persecution by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP). In February 2000, she went to Beijing to appeal for Falun Gong and was arrested and sent back to the Yanji City Detention Centre. The police subsequently often went to her home to harass her family, ransack her home, and keep surveillance on her. They sent her to a brainwashing centre and forced labour camp to persecute her. Even after her retirement, in order to “transform” [forcibly renounce Falun Gong] her, the leaders at Yanbian University often went to her home to harass her. Under such long-term persecution, Xu Xianzi had great difficulty in managing her daily life. She became depressed, fell ill, and died on October 4th, 2007.
  • The Persecution of Falun Gong Practitioners in Liaoning Province Women's Prison

    Liaoning Province Women's Prison is notorious for persecuting Falun Gong practitioners who are detained there, particularly in the Eighth Ward. There is no practitioner detained at this facility who can escape from being brutally tortured. At least one practitioner has died from torture there. The Eighth Ward is led by Zuo Xiaoyan, who is well known for her cruelty. She carries an electric baton and relentlessly shocks practitioners whenever she can. She often publicly slanders Falun Gong in meetings.
  • Practitioners from Xiqin Township, Shuangcheng City in Heilongjiang Province Severely Tortured

    Mr. Na Zhenxian was arrested on the evening of February 27th, 2004, and taken to Shuangcheng City No. 2 Detention Centre. He was later sentenced to two years in Changlingzi Forced Labour Camp. On September 16th, 2005, Mr. Na was tortured to death. Mr. Kou Fangqi, 42, went to the Heilongjiang provincial government to appeal. He was arrested and taken to a brainwashing centre in 1999. In 2000, he was arrested again. Police viciously beat Mr. Kou, while another officer, held a knife and threatened to cut open Mr. Kou’s abdomen.
  • Additional Information Concerning the Death of Falun Gong Practitioner Ms. Yu Quan from Jilin

    Sixty-year-old Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Yu Quan was persecuted to death on December 11th, 2010, by Public Security Bureau police in Jilin. She was handcuffed to a hospital bed before she died. The police also threatened her family on the day of her death. Ms. Yu had been arrested on April 25th, 2009, and held in Jilin Detention Centre. On December 10th, 2010, detention centre personnel informed Ms. Yu's family unexpectedly that she had been transferred to a tuberculosis hospital in Jilin. When her family went to see her in the hospital, they found her extremely emaciated. She died a day later.
  • Husband Dies in Anguish While 70-year-old Wife is Jailed in Penglai City

    Elderly Ms. Men Hongfen was sentenced to a four-year prison term in January 2011. Her husband, Chi Weiguo, died on January 16th as a result of grief. Ms. Men wouldn't give up practising Falun Gong and told people the facts about it. She was arrested many times by Chinese Communist Party (CCP) agents, and has been arrested three times by the Daxingdian Police Department since 2005, and forcibly taken to brainwashing centres.
