Ms. Hu Yunhuai's Body Cremated; Her Family Has Nowhere to Go for Redress

Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Hu Yunhuai was cremated on December 13th, by the Municipal National Security Bureau after she was persecuted to death on October 23rd in a detention centre by the Chinese Communist Party. Her family had nowhere to go to seek redress for her death. Departments they contacted deflected responsibility to the Municipal Public Security Bureau. When the family demanded written proof of her death, the Municipal Public Security Bureau refused to provide it. The bureau also refused to compensate the family for what they spent on her hospitalisation, close to 10,000 yuan. -
Older Practitioner Ms. Yu Quan of Jilin Province Died as a Result of Persecution
2010-12-28Jilin City Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Yu Quan, in her 60s, died at the hands of the police of the Jilin City Domestic Security Division on December 11th. She was arrested by police on April 25th, 2009 and detained at the Jilin City Detention Centre. The Changyi District Court sentenced her to two years in prison on November 2009. Her family was notified of her critical condition by police after she was admitted to hospital where she died. -
Hunan Practitioner Ms. Peng Donglian Dies at Li County Detention Centre
2010-12-24Police arrested Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Peng Donglian, 58, at her home without a warrant on November 9th and took her to Li County Detention Centre. She died at the Li County Detention Centre just eleven days after her arrest. Her family rushed to the detention centre and saw her body. There were blue and purple scars on the soles of her feet. Her body was warm when they touched her. Police told them that she died due to a heart attack. However, she did not have any history of heart disease and she was in good health when she was arrested. According to an insider, Ms. Peng was tortured during her detention. Autopsy results showed that her heart was ruptured, and lots of blood filled her abdominal cavity. -
National Model Worker Ms. Zhu Ying from Xinxiang City, Henan Province Persecuted to Death
2010-12-23Ms. Zhu Ying was a Falun Gong practitioner in Xinxiang City, Henan Province. She was also a former member of the National People's Congress and a national model worker. On September 27th, police officer Wei Guanglei deceived her out of her home, arrested her, and took her to a detention centre. Ms. Zhu Ying was then persecuted to death at 4 a.m. on November 30th. To cover up the evidence of how she was killed her body was cremated in Xinxiang City Crematorium on December 2nd. -
Falun Gong Practitioner Ms. Wang Yanqin from Jiutai City, Jilin Province, Dies as a Result of Persecution
2010-12-20 On November 28th, 2003, when Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Wang Yanqin and several fellow practitioners went to a local village to hand out distribute leaflets exposing the persecution and tell people the facts about Falun Gong , they were arrested and tortured. She was tortured on a tiger bench, after which she could not eat and had chest and abdominal pain. Ms. Wang was sentenced to four years and held in Jilin Women's Prison. She was injected against her will with an unknown drug and was often delirious; her health was also failing. After she was released, she was totally reliant on her family to take care of her. She passed away on December 5th. -
Mr. Kang Yuncheng, 56, from Mudanjiang City Dies After Years of Torture and Abuse
2010-12-19Since 1999, Mr. Kang Yuncheng had been repeatedly arrested, imprisoned, and tortured by Chinese Communist Party (CCP) authorities. In 2003, Mr. Kang was arrested and sentenced to prison because he had appealed against the persecution of Falun Gong. Guards tried to force him to renounce his faith in Falun Gong and was subjected to extremely inhumane treatment. Punching and beating Falun Gong practitioners was accepted as normal behaviour by other inmates. Mr. Kang also had to do long hours of forced labour making chopsticks and toothpicks. In 2007, he was released from Mudanjiang Prison on medical parole due to poor health. On November 16th, he died at the age of 56. -
Falun Gong Practitioner Ms. Ma Cuihong Dies as a Result of Persecution
2010-12-17After suffering from numerous tortures by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP), Ms. Ma Cuihong became seriously ill. She endured brutal forced feeding by her torturers, who inserted a plastic feeding tube through her nostril into the stomach. Due to the repeated insertion of the feeding tube, her trachea and lung suffered fatal damage. Four years prior to her death, she coughed incessantly, vomited blood, and had severe pain around the chest. She had difficulty sleeping at night. As soon as she lay down, she'd have violent coughing and difficulty breathing. She died in September 2010, as a result of persecution. She was only 47 years old. -
Wang Cuixiang Persecuted to Death After Being Arrested Before the Beijing Olympics
2010-12-17Wang Cuixiang, 48, was persecuted before the Beijing Olympics. She was tortured in Wangcun Forced Labour Camp until her health severely deteriorated, she collapsed and could no longer take care of herself. The camp took her to the hospital, but her condition did not improve. They allowed Ms. Wang's family to take her home around November 2009, and extorted 3,000 yuan from her family for medical care. She never recovered and died in November 2010. -
67-Year-Old Ms. Yue Chunpu of Tangshan City Dies After Repeated Persecution
2010-12-15Ms. Yue Chunpu was a 67-year-old Falun Gong practitioner in Tangshan City, Hebei Province. She died on December 1st after suffering arrest, imprisonment, brainwashing, and torture on many occasions. On July 8th, 2008, police arrested her, ransacked her home and took her to the Tangshan City First Detention Centre where she was held for more than eight months. To protest her arrest, she refused to work as a forced labourer. The guards punished her. She was sentenced to three years in prison in April 2009, and was held in Hebei Province Women's Prison. Because of her deteriorating health condition, she was released on bail for medical treatment. -
Ms. Peng Donglian Died in the 610 Office Detention Centre; Hunan Province Is Responsible
2010-12-12On November 9th, 2010, there was a large scale arrest of Falun Gong practitioners in Li county, Changde, Hunan Province. Eleven days after this incident, Ms. Peng Donglian died. She was 58 years old. She was arrested by the Domestic Group of Li County Police Department. She passed away in Li County Detention Centre. Officials claimed that Ms. Peng died of a heart attack. However, Ms. Peng never had a history of heart problems, and she was in good health prior to the arrest. -
Practitioners Persecuted in Harbin City Drug Rehabilitation Forced Labour Camp
2010-12-10Twelve practitioners were detained in Harbin City Drug Rehabilitation Forced Labour Camp in Heilongjiang Province from July 1st to July 3rd, 2010. They were brutally tortured in an attempt to force them to give up their belief in Falun Gong. Ms. Liu Shuling refused to sign a guarantee statement to stop practising Falun Gong, and so the guards kept her tied to the iron chair and extended her term at the camp by three more months. While the practitioners were handcuffed to the iron chairs, the guards covered all the windows and doors with newspaper, so nobody from outside could see them. It was very hot inside the room. The handcuffs deeply cut into the flesh. After a few days of no sleep, they were mentally and physically exhausted. Ms. Liu was tortured to death on July 3rd. -
Ms. Zhang Yanfang, Who Learned Falun Gong in Prison, Was Persecuted to Death
2010-12-09Ms. Zhang Yanfang, who learned Falun Gong when she was imprisoned, died on November 2nd, 2010, in prison at the age of 54. In over ten years of imprisonment in Haerbing Women's Prison, she was brutally tortured by being hung up, forced to sit on an iron bench, beaten, frozen, starved, deprived of sleep, put in prolonged solitary confinement, and force fed. -
Woman, Whose Torture Was Cited by Attorney, Killed in Custody
2010-12-09A Chinese woman whose experience of torture was mentioned in an open letter written by a famous human rights lawyer has been killed in custody, according to a Falun Gong human rights group. Fifty-three year old Sun Shuxiang, a Falun Gong practitioner from Changchun, died on October 10th, four months after her release from a labour camp where she had been severely tortured. Sun was cited as a torture victim by Chinese human rights attorney Gao Zhisheng in a 2005 open letter to top Chinese leaders. -
Mr. Su Anzhou Lost His Wife and Son to Persecution
2010-12-08Mr. Su Anzhou and his wife Ms. Geng Cuifang began practising Falun Gong in 1997. After the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) began to persecute Falun Gong on July 20th, 1999, Mr. Su was sentenced to eight years in prison for his belief. Ms. Geng jumped from the sixth floor of a building to her death. Their son, Su Wei, died from lung cancer because he could not afford to buy medicine after both of his parents had been persecuted. -
Victim of New Brainwashing Campaign Dies at Labour Camp within Days of Arrival
2010-12-08An elderly man from northeast China, who police abducted in September to force him to renounce Falun Gong, died in custody on October 30th, according to a Falun Gong human rights group. On September 10th, 61-year-old Mr. Zhang Qingjun and his wife were abducted by two officers from Shixian police station and taken to a brainwashing facility located at Songlin Nursing Home. Over the following days, dozens of agents from the local Tumen City 6-10 Office (an organisation of special agents just for persecuting Falun Gong), Communist Party, police, and neighbourhood committee used various methods in an attempt to force Zhang to “transform,” to give up his practice of Falun Gong.
