  • Tianjin Factory Owner Mr. Li Xiwang Died as a Result of Persecution

    Mr. Li Xiwang was a factory owner. He and his wife Chen Liyan were arrested on December 21st, 2010. After being held in the Hexi Detention Centre for more than six months, Mr. Li was transferred to the Gangbei Prison (the name has been changed to the Binhai Prison). On July 29th, two police officers came to Mr. Li's relatives' home and declared that Mr. Li “had died of sudden illness after an emergency treatment failed to save him” in the early morning hours that same day. Mr. Li's wife Ms. Chen Liyan was subjected to a one-year forced labour term, and is being held in the Banqiao Women's Forced Labour Camp in Tianjin.
  • The Persecution of Ms. Luan Guirong and Her Family

    After practising Falun Gong, Ms. Luan Guirong recovered from severe arthritis. After the persecution began in 1999, she went to Beijing to appeal for Falun Gong and was detained and subsequently dismissed from her job. Her husband was an employee at Jiamusi Forced Labour Camp. Because he delivered daily necessities and clothing to practitioners, he was persecuted, and subsequently passed away in 2001.
  • An Account of 17 Torture Deaths in the Qingdao Area, Shandong Province

    At least 39 torture deaths of Falun Gong practitioners in the Qingdao Area alone have been verified since the persecution started, covering the period between 1999-2010. In addition, more than 1,000 practitioners were sentenced to forced labor camps or prisons; and at least 60 practitioners were injected with drugs known to damage the central nervous system, shocked with electric needles, or were force-fed at mental hospitals. Many more people faced torture, brainwashing sessions, intimidation, and monetary extortion at various brainwashing and detention facilities.
  • Mr. Jiao Lingyun from Heilongjiang Province Persecuted to Death in Detention, Officials Cover Up Their Crimes

    On June 10th, Mr. Jiao Lingyun, 49, was arrested by over ten police officers. He was held at the Jixian County Detention Centre. On July 8th, Mr. Jiao's father received a phone call from the Jixian County Public Security Bureau, informing him of his son's death. Mr. Jiao's family had not received any information about Mr. Jiao after his arrest until this phone call. Mr. Jiao's family rushed to the hospital. Darkly coloured bruises were evident on his head, neck and legs. The skin around his mouth had deep pinch marks, his lips were injured and his clothes were wet. On July 10th, according to staff from the funeral home, officers guarded Mr. Jiao's body 24 hours a day. They did not allow the funeral home staff or Mr. Jiao's family to see his whole body.
  • Mr. Jiao Lingyun Killed and Ms. Luan Xiuyuan and Ms. Dai Lixia Both in Critical Condition

    On June 10th, Falun Gong practitioners Mr. Jiao Lingyun, Ms. Dai Lixia, and Ms. Luan Xiuyuan were arrested by a group of police. At the time of the arrest the practitioners were working in the Jianxin Middle School of Jixian County, when the police broke in without any warrant. Mr. Jiao was later detained in the Jixian County Detention Centre, while Ms. Dai Lixia and Ms. Luan Xiuyuan were held in the Jiamisi City Detention Centre. Mr. Jiao was killed on July 8th during his detention, only 29 days after he was arrested. According to some eyewitnesses who saw his body in the hospital, he was as thin as a skeleton and had bruises on his head and an obvious black scar on the left side of his neck. Due to the mistreatment during their detention, Ms. Luan and Ms. Dai are in critical condition.
  • Mr. Liu Renge from Jilin Province Died as a Result of Persecution--Police Try to Cover up the Facts

    Officers from the Tonghua County Domestic Security Division arrested Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Liu Renge on June 28th, as he was going to Ying'ebu Town to deliver Falun Gong leaflets exposing the persecution. He was taken to the county's detention centre the same day and died in police custody three weeks later, on July 22nd. During his detention, the police refused to allow his family to visit him. When the family asked police if Mr. Liu was physically abused or mistreated during police interrogation, the police officer just said that Mr. Liu had undergone some kind of corporal punishment.
  • Mr. Yang Xiaojie Dies from Forced Feeding in Hebei No. 4 Prison

    Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Yang Xiaojie was sentenced by the Chinese Communist regime authorities to eleven years of imprisonment because he remained steadfast in his belief. Mr. Yang started a hunger strike to protest the persecution. Division head Liu Ning, along with several inmates, force fed Mr. Yang. They dissolved a bag of powdered milk into water and poured coarse salt with very large particles into the milk. He was persecuted to death on January 26th, 2006 in Hebei No. 4 Prison.
  • Mr. Wang Xuezhu Tortured to Death While in Custody at Shiling Prison in Jilin Province

    Mr. Wang Xuezhu was previously very healthy. Before the 2008 Beijing Olympics, Chinese Communist Party (CCP) officials from Jingyu County harassed, arrested, and registered Falun Gong practitioners. On April 24th, 2008, the police arrested Mr. Wang and confiscated three computers, two printers, one DVD player, and one set of satellite TV receivers. He was detained for more than eight months and then secretly sentenced to four years at Shiling Prison, located in Siping City. He died in custody on May 22nd. Mr. Wang's family rushed to the prison, but he was unconscious and emaciated, and he did not regain consciousness before he died. It broke his mother's heart to see such a healthy young man die a wrongful death.
  • Mr. Liu Renge Dies in Police Custody in Tonghua County, Jilin Province

    On June 28th, while Mr. Liu Renge was distributing Falun Gong materials in Ying'ebu Town, Tonghua County, the police from the Tonghua County Police Department Domestic Security Division arrested him. On the same day, he was sent to the Tonghua County Detention Centre. On July 22nd, his family sent out the news that Mr. Liu had died in police custody, only one month after he was arrested. On the evening of the same day, it was confirmed that his body was in the Tonghua City Funeral Home. Besides his family members, plainclothes police officers were also there.
  • 68-Year-Old Falun Gong practitioner Qu Yuxiang Dies – Never Recovered from Labour Camp Torture

    Older Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Qu Yuxiang was almost paralysed due to nerve pressure from excessive thickening of bone tissue before she practised Falun Gong. After learning the practice all her illnesses disappeared. She followed the principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance, and was known to be a good person by all those around her. In 2000, when she was distributing leaflets exposing the persecution of Falun Gong she was arrested and sent to a detention centre. Soon after she was sentenced to three years in a forced labour camp. Because Ms. Qu refused to give up Falun Gong she was tortured. Due to the torture endured during her term at the labour camp, Ms. Qu Yuxiang's body and mind suffered great damage. Her physical health never recovered. She died on July 10th.
  • Entire Family Devastated as 76-Year-Old Grandfather, Mr. Luo Zhenggui, is Tortured in Guangyuan Prison

    Mr. Luo Zhenggui and his wife were detained by officials from the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) for not renouncing their belief in Falun Gong. They were subjected to brainwashing and sentenced to imprisonment. In May 2004, while they were being tortured in prisons, Mr. Luo's father-in-law passed away. His wife almost died from torture. They are now homeless in an effort to avoid being detained again. Chinese Communist Party (CCP) officials confiscated their home, stole their personal belongings and withheld their pensions.
  • Deputy Director of the Education Commission of Hanjiayuan Forest Bureau in Daxinganling Region Dies

    Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Li Yaru was persecuted in Heilongjiang Women's Prison. She died of leukaemia on July 20th, 2011 at the age of 48. In July 2008, Ms. Li was taken into custody by local police. They broke into and ransacked her home, confiscating her computer, an MP4 player, and other personal items. They forced her to sit on a bench with Falun Gong books and photographed her. The police claimed that for one year they had watched as Ms. Li told people the truth about Falun Gong and promoted withdrawing from the Chinese Communist Party and its affiliated organisations. Ms. Li was sentenced to three years in prison.
  • Retired Military Official Mr. Wu Zhongming Died as a Result of Persecution

    After the communist regime launched the persecution on July 20th, 1999, Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Wu Zhongming not only had long-term fear while facing threats and harassment from the police, but also experienced great mental torment. He developed a fever and lost consciousness on May 4th, 2004 and was sent to the hospital for emergency care. He became paralysed, and his family had to take care of him. Mr. Wu died on the evening of January 26th, 2011, at the age of 81.
  • Older Falun Gong Practitioner Ms. Tan Cuiying Beaten to Death by Domestic Security Officers in Ningyuan County, Hunan Province

    When Ms. Tan Cuiying went to the Domestic Security Division Office to seek the release of her husband, Ou Yicheng, she was brutally beaten until she passed out. Within three weeks, she died from her injuries on July 18th. On May 13th, police stormed into Mr. Ou Yicheng's home, ransacked it, and arrested him. He was held in the Ningyuan County Detention Centre and was Ms. Tan's sole source of financial support. On June 30th, Ms. Tan went to the Domestic Security Division to request the release of her husband. Officers beat her so brutally that she passed out on the ground. She was incontinent and mentally disordered and could not dress herself or take care of herself.
  • Older Practitioner Ms. Liu Wei, from Shijiazhuang City, Died from Persecution after Term in Hebei Province Women's Forced Labour Camp

    Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Liu Wei, from Shijiazhuang City, Hebei Province, was in good physical condition and had healthy, lustrous, black hair. She was 5 ft. 9 in. tall and weighed 165 pounds. When she was released from detention at the beginning of March, 2010, her weight had dropped to 110 pounds, and her hair had turned completely white. After being subjected to severe physical and mental persecution in the forced labour camp, she passed away on December 10th, 2010 at the age of 55.
