  • Ms. Chen Shulan Jailed for Eight Years, Daughter Still Missing

    Police arrested Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Chen on September 16th, 2002. She was sentenced to seven and a half years in prison and detained in the Beijing Women's Prison, where she was badly mistreated. She was released on March 17th, 2010, after serving her full term. That same day, however, she was arrested again and taken to the Changping District Brainwashing Centre where she was subjected to 70 days of brainwashing before finally being released at the end of May 2010. Her 10 year-old daughter is still missing. Ms. Chen brother Chen Aizhong was tortured to death at the Hehuakeng Forced Labour Camp in Tangshan City on September 20th, 2001. Ms. Chen's sister, Chen Hongping, was taken to a forced labour camp; both of her legs were broken by communist officials and she was tortured to death at the Gaoyang Forced Labour Camp on March 5th, 2003.
  • Ms. Yang Jinying Persecuted to Death Seven Years Ago; Her Son Recently Files an Indictment

    Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Yang Jinying was persecuted to death at the age of only 53 in November 2003. She was subjected to so much torture that she became paralyzed and lost control of her bodily functions. Even though her condition was critical, the police still sentenced her to three years of imprisonment. Her two sons were attending middle school at the time. Mr. Wang Lei, Ms. Yang's older son, recently filed an indictment against the Qiaocheng District Police Department for persecuting his mother to death. He requested an investigation and the prosecution of those responsible.
  • I Witnessed the Torture Deaths of Two Practitioners in Custody

    Mr. Wang Wenju began practising Falun Gong in 2004. He witnessed the healing power of Falun Gong when his wife's diabetes disappeared as a result of the practice. He bravely spoke the truth about the persecution to his students. He was reported and arrested on October 26th, 2004. He was then sentenced to three years in prison. He was taken to Shenyang City around March 20th, 2005, then was transferred to Fushen City Nanhuayuan Prison where he was brutally force-fed when he was on hunger strike and tortured to death on April 27th, 2005, at only 38 years old
  • Two Practitioners Die in December as a Result of Persecution

    Ms. Fei Jinrong, a practitioner from Shuangyashan City of Heilongjiang Province and a former chief auditor from Shuangyashan City Auditory Bureau, was persecuted until she suffered a complete mental collapse. On December 12th, she passed away at the age of 61. Ms. Liu Wei, 55, was a practitioner in Shijiazhuang City, Hebei Province. She was released from a forced labour camp in March 2010. Unfortunately, her health had been significantly compromised by the maltreatment she received, and she passed away on December 10th.
  • Hotel Manager Ms. Sun Shufen Persecuted to Death

    Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Sun Shufen went to Beijing to appeal for justice for Falun Gong in December 2000, but was arrested. Ms. Sun was subjected to brainwashing at the Heizuizi Forced Labour Camp in Changchun. The Chinese Communist Party (CCP) agents tried to force her to write the three statements to denounce Falun Gong. Because she refused to write such statements, she was shocked by the guards with electric batons. On one night, guard Hou Zhihong shocked her on the neck for three hours. Inmate Liu Dongjiao was instructed to deprive Ms. Sun of sleep by forcing her to stand still with her head bent downward. In 2003 Ms. Sun was arrested and sentenced to two years again and was severely tortured. Ms. Sun's health deteriorated due to constant bleeding that had started at the forced labour camp. She passed away on September 13th, 2009.
  • Falun Gong Practitioner Ms. Li Chunxiang from Ningde City in Fujian Province Persecuted to Death

    On September 22nd, 2009, Ms. Li Chunxiang was arrested at her home and brutally beaten by police. Ms. Li was forced to perform manual labour during her imprisonment in Ningde City Detention Centre. A guard named struck Ms. Li in the head with such force that she sustained a concussion and was paralysed as a result. She lay in bed and was unable to move at all. On November 20th, Ms. Li was carried out of the detention centre on a stretcher, paralysed. At home, police threatened her on the phone by saying that she would be imprisoned in the forced labour camp if she practised Falun Gong again. Ms. Li’s condition deteriorated sharply due to the stress. On November 22nd, 2010, she died in Jiaxing Armed Police Hospital in Shanghai.
  • The Persecution of Ms. Hou Guimin, from Shanhaiguan Shipyard in Hebei Province, Prior to Her Death

    Ms. Hou Guimin had practised Falun Gong since 1997, and everyone in the company knew that she was a good person. The general manager once said, “If everyone practised Falun Gong, it would be easy for me to run this company!” On July 25th, 2001, police besieged her home and began battering down the door. Suddenly and unexpectedly faced with such a terrifying situation, she felt that she had no other choice but to try and escape through the window. Unfortunately, she fell from the building and lost her life. She was only 44 years old.
  • Eleven Years of Persecution Leaves a Family of Five with Two Dead and Two Imprisoned

    Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Peng Liang and Mr. Zhang Jingzhou were arrested in the early morning hours of December 13th. Mr. Peng Liang had a family of five who were all Falun Gong practitioners. During the eleven-year-long persecution, all five members of the family have been subjected to arrests, home ransacking, detention, brainwashing, and forced labour terms. Two of them have died as a result of the persecution, and one has suffered a mental breakdown.
  • The Chinese Communist Party's Shocking Persecution of Talented People in Mainstream Society

    On December 27th, Ms. Zhu Ying, a former representative who attended the National People's Congress, and a national model worker in Xinxiang City, Henan Province, was deceived into leaving her home and arrested by police officers from the Dongdajie Police Station on September 27th. According to sources inside China, she was abused until her death in the Xinxiang City Detention Centre on November 30th, less than five weeks after being taken into police custody. Her body was cremated on December 2nd. Ms. Zhu had begun practising Falun Gong when she was fighting cancer, which was cured through her cultivation practice.
  • Family Threatened for Inquiring about the Cause of Mr. Cai Fuchen's Death

    Practitioner Mr. Cai Fuchen was persecuted to death in Gongzhuling Prison on September 15th, 2010. Before being persecuted to death, Mr. Cai suffered brutal physical torture at the hands of the prison guards. According to the prison authorities, Mr. Cai committed suicide by jumping off a tall building. They refused to allow his family members to see his corpse. Mr. Cai's family members had strong doubts about the cause of his death and hired a lawyer to investigate. However, the prison, the Pingdong Procuratorate and the Changchun Procuratorate tried to shift the responsibility to each other. The deputy chief of the Pingdong Procuratorate even threatened Mr. Cai's family and their lawyer: “Appealing is just asking for more trouble. No one will ever help you.”
  • Torture and Abuse Endured by Ms. Yu Quan Before She Died

    60-year-old practitioner Yu Quan from Jilin passed away after being abused and tortured by police. She was still handcuffed to her bed as she died. In July 1999, the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) started to persecute Falun Gong. Ms. Yu went to Beijing to appeal for Falun Gong in October 2004. While there, she was arrested and sent to a detention centre. Because of the punishment received there, her entire body was in unbearable pain, and she had contracted tuberculosis. To protect her employer and family Ms. Yu refused to give her name and address during her ordeal, and she was tortured severely for that refusal. She was injected with unknown drugs, which resulted in permanent damage to her vision.
  • Ms. Zhang Yaqin from Daqing City Dies after Severe Persecution in Heilongjiang Women's Prison

    After Ms. Zhang Yaqin from Daqing City was arrested, she was sentenced to seven years of imprisonment. She was tortured in Heilongjiang Women's Prison until her health severely deteriorated. In May 2010, she was released. In the past six months, she was sent to the hospital for emergency treatment many times. On November 26th, she died at the age of 64 in Daqing People's Hospital, as a result of the persecution.
  • Daughter Detained, Mother Dies from Grief

    A funeral was held for an elderly woman in Qingshui, north of Shenyang, in the winter cold. Villagers who knew her all said that she was such an innocent person and that if her daughter hadn't been arrested, she wouldn't have passed away. Residents of Qingshui all knew that Ms. Liu had a good daughter, Liu Sulan. However, because Liu Sulan practised Falun Gong she was arrested on September 29th. On December 14th, upon hearing that Liu Sulan was to be sentenced, her mother passed away without seeing her daughter. Liu Sulan did not know of her mother's death.
  • Older Practitioner Ms. Liu Guixiang from No. 858 Farm in Heilongjiang Province Persecuted to Death

    Ms. Liu Guixiang, a 64 year old Falun Gong practitioner, was arrested on September 10th, 2010 at No. 858 Farm. Eighty days after she was held at the Detention Centre of the Land Reclamation and Cultivation Mudanjiang Police Department, she died on November 28th as a result of persecution. She previously weighed over 170 lbs and was very healthy. Within less than three months, when she was persecuted to death, her weight had decreased by 40 lbs. On November 29th, her husband, her younger brother and her son saw her body at the mortuary. She had a swollen abdomen, and was partially naked. Her whole body was swollen and her face was gaunt. Her trousers were wet with urine. She had only one shoe on and the other one was left in the coffin. Her body was distorted. At that time, they saw a layer of purple spots on her shoulders.
  • Mr. Fu Honglie Dies under the Pressure of Long-term Persecution

    Mr. Fu Honglie was a Falun Gong practitioner from Guanling County, Guizhou Province. He had been sentenced to forced labour for three years and was beaten until he lost hearing in one ear. Due to long-term harassment and threats from the police, Mr. Fu lived under great mental pressure and was not able to lead a normal life. He passed away on November 13th.
