  • The Tragic Story of Practitioner Mr. Tang Yi's Death

    Mr. Tang Yi was sent to the Xishanping Forced Labour Camp for a long period of time because of practising Falun Gong. He was released in November 2008 after being diagnosed with bone tuberculosis. He passed away on September 22nd, 2009 at the age of 46. He wrote about his experience in the labour camp: "I had been on a hunger strike for 32 days before I was taken to the labour camp. I was very weak. Nonetheless, I was often pushed and held down on the floor. They grabbed my injured hand and dragged me over the floor, back and forth, which caused dislocation of my joints. I suffered from violent force-feedings. They slapped or punched me during the force-feedings. The feeding tube was difficult to insert through my nose, and made my nose bleed after several attempts."
  • A Personal Account of the Persecution of Ms. Deng Lijuan

    On July 20th, 1999, the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) started persecuting Falun Gong. My husband and I went to Beijing to appeal for justice but were arrested and sent back to Yushu City. We were held in the detention centre and tortured for two months before being released. At that time, my six-year-old son was at home alone, without with no one to cook for him or take care of him. In 2002 police again arrested my husband and I. I was tortured in the Heizuizi Forced Labour Camp in Changchun City for one year and my husband was tortured for three years. He died on April 7th, 2004, three days after he returned home.
  • 60-Year-Old Ms. Shi Yingchun Beaten to Death in Liaoning Women's Prison - Additional Information

    Practitioner Ms. Shi Yingchuna was arrested and sent to the First Squad, Eighth Prison District of the Liaoning Province Women's Prison. In prison, she refused to give up practising Falun Gong, so the prison guards ordered eight prisoners to beat her. The beatings lasted from the night of March 27th, 2010 until the following morning. She was then sent to the hospital, where she later died.
  • Mr. Jiao Lingyun Dies in Custody in Heilongjiang Province

    On June 10th, more than a dozen police officers arrested Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Jiao Lingyun from his work and also arrested practitioners Ms. Dai Lixia and Ms. Luan Xiuyuan who worked in the dining hall. The police twice ransacked Mr. Jiao's home, extorted 3000 yuan from him, and detained him in the Jixian County Detention Centre. On July 8th, just 29 days later, he died in custody. A witness said that Mr. Jiao died upon arriving at the hospital. He was as thin as a skeleton and had bruises on his head and an obvious black scar on the left side of his neck. His clothes were wet, and his face was dark purple.
  • Falun Gong Practitioner Ms. Shi Meiying from Zhejiang Province Dies as a Result of the Persecution

    Ms. Shi Meiying was frequently harassed, detained and suffered various forms of torture. She was also sentenced to seven years of imprisonment. In the beginning of 2011, the Yongkang City 610 Office staff threatened that they would take Ms. Shi and her husband to Jinhua City and force them to practise a different kind of qigong. At that time, Ms. Shi's whole body was swollen because her health was deteriorating from the effects of being persecuted for over ten years. She passed away on June 17th, at the age of 48.
  • Mr. Wang Yuncai, an Elementary School Teacher from Tianjin, Dies as a Result of Persecution

    When the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) started the persecution in July 1999, Mr. Wang Yuncai, 46, was detained several times and beaten by police. Mr. Wang was again arrested by police in 2002. He was stripped of his clothing and hung up, while police brutally beat him. He was then sentenced to three years in Banqiao Forced Labour Camp. Mr. Wang's wife later divorced him, as she could not stand the constant harassment and pressure from the authorities. In 2005, he was sentenced for the ninth time. Mr. Wang's health deteriorated due to the many years of persecution and he passed away on June 16th, 2011.
  • Older Falun Gong Practitioner Mr. Bai Shuang Dies in Mudanjiang City Prison in Heilongjiang Province

    On January 15th, 2010, six police officers arrested Mr. Bai at his home and detained him in the Daqing City Third Detention Centre. Mr. Bai was later transferred to Mudanjiang City Prison, where he died on June 20th, 2011 in custody. Mr. Bai suffered from the after affects of a stroke caused by torture while in prison. Ever since the persecution of Falun Gong began in July 1999, Mr. Bai had been arrested multiple times, detained, and tortured in the Daqing Forced Labour Camp. He was tied with ropes, tied on an Iron Chair, brutally beaten, had cold water poured on him, and deprived of sleep.
  • The Persecution Suffered by Retired Teacher Ms. Tian Sufang Before She Died

    Ms. Tian Sufang, a seventy-four-year old retired teacher, lived in Chifeng City in Inner Mongolia. She started practising Falun Gong in 1996 and after several months of practice, the illnesses she previously sought treatment for and that doctors could not cure, disappeared. After Falun Gong was suppressed by the Chinese Communist regime in July 1999, Ms. Tian was arrested and tortured countless times. Finally she was sentenced to five years in prison. She passed away on March 15th, 2011.
  • How Did Li Xianwen Die?

    Mr. Li Xianwen and his wife, Ms. Yu Guiying were arrested in Chengdu on May 29th or 30th, 2001. Sadly, Mr. Li, 54, died sometime between then and May 31st, 2001. What happened in those two days, and what caused Mr. Li's death? The answers to these questions remain unknown. When the family saw his body they noticed an obvious bruise on Mr. Li's neck but no other noticeable wounds when they were dressing his body. The wife and son thus suspected that Mr. Li had been strangled, although the police claimed Mr. Li died by jumping from a building.
  • Older Falun Gong Practitioner Ms. Zhao Shuhui from Beijing Died as a Result of Persecution

    Ms. Zhao Shuhui, in her 60s from Beijing, died on May 2nd as a result of physical abuse and mental torment under the persecution by the Chinese Communist Party. While being held for two years in Beijing Women's Forced Labour Camp, she developed symptoms of cerebral thrombosis and diabetes as a result of physical abuse and mistreatment. She was unable to take care of herself. With her family's strong requests, the labour camp officials released her on medical parole. After being released from the forced labour camp, local police officers often harassed her at home. They forcibly took her away from her home prior to the Olympics in 2008, and took her to a brainwashing facility. Due to the repeated arrests and harassment by the authorities, Ms. Zhao's mental and physical health continued to worsen.
  • Mr. Huang Wei from Huazhou City, Guangdong Province Dies as a Result of Torture

    Mr. Huang Wei refused to renounce Falun Gong, and so he was repeatedly arrested and detained, and sentenced to forced labour three times. In Sanshui Forced Labour Camp he was brutally persecuted. He went on hunger strike to protest the beatings. Guards shocked Mr. Huang electric batons and force-fed him. On April 17th, when Mr. Huang was released from the labour camp, he was emaciated and had a mental disorder. He passed away 12 days later at the age of 44.
  • Recent Incidents in the Brainwashing Centres of Yanbian Korean Autonomous Prefecture, Jilin Province

    Since May 26th, officials from the communist regime have arrested a number of Falun Gong practitioners in the Yanbian Korean Autonomous Prefecture, including the cities of Yanji, Helong, Dunhua, Tumen and Wangqing County. Many practitioners were taken to brainwashing centres and tortured. Ms. Jin Lianhua, who was tortured to the brink of death, returned home for treatment and rehabilitation upon her family’s urgent request. On January 29th, 2010, officials broke into Ms. Yin Fengqin’s home and planned to take her in for brainwashing. While resisting arrest, Ms. Yin fell from her balcony on the fifth floor and died.
  • Ms. Liu Honghua from Zhucheng City in Shandong Province Died as a Result of Persecution

    When the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) launched the brutal persecution of Falun Gong in July 1999, Ms. Liu went to appeal to the higher authorities in Weifang City and Beijing. As a result, her wages were reduced and she was often detained in her workplace. In March 2009, police broke into Ms. Liu's home. They pushed Ms. Liu's son, Mr. Zhang Xinming, to the ground and brutally kicked and punched him in front of Ms. Liu's other two children. Ms. Liu and her son were then taken away. Ms. Liu was tortured in the Taojialing Dongjiao School brainwashing centre, and was released several days later. She suffered tremendously since the incident, and died on June 2nd, 2011.
  • Older Practitioner Ms. Zhang Zhongfen from Chongqing Dies as a Result of Persecution

    After the persecution started, Ms. Zhang Zhongfen went to appeal for Falun Gong at Beijing's Tiananmen Square in 2002. She was arrested and police officers brutally abused and tortured her. Ms. Zhang was arrested again around August 2008 as she spoke with people about Falun Gong at a farmers' market. She was once again subjected to one year of forced labour, and held in the Maojiashan Women's Forced Labour Camp. Physical abuse and mistreatment caused Ms. Zhang's head to be seriously injured, and her leg was fractured. Due to her injuries resulting from extreme abuse, she lost the ability to take care of herself, and was once again in critical condition. After her release, police frequently harassed her at home, attempting to force her to write a guarantee statement to give up her beliefs. Ms. Zhang passed away on June 14th.
  • Mr. Zhang Zenggui, from Changyi City, Shandong Province, Passes Away After Years of Persecution

    Mr. Zhang Zenggui was persecuted by the Chinese Communist regime for his belief in Falun Gong for over 11 years, until his death. The police broke into Mr. Zhang's home in April 2010, and arrested him. They also confiscated his personal belongings and cash. The police subsequently extorted 3,000 yuan from his eldest son for his release. Upon returning home, Mr. Zhang was no longer able to bear the pressure of the persecution. He could not eat much, became very weak, and subsequently became bedridden. On April 13th, 2011, Mr. Zhang passed away at the age of 67.
