  • Persecution Suffered by Mr. Zhao Bailiang's Family in Hailin City

    On June 30th, 2008, police arrested Mr. Zhao Bailiang. Mr. Zhao, 34 years old and a Falun Gong practitioner. Mr. Zhao was arrested four days after his wife gave birth to their son. After arresting Mr. Zhao, the police went to the home of Mr. Zhao's mother-in-law, and took away the money sent by relatives to cover the expenses for Zhao's wife's impending hospital stay. The police interrogated all of the relatives who went to Zhao's home until 9 p.m. that night. Eventually the police arrested Mrs. Zhang Yuhua and two other people. The next day, police arrested Mr. Zhao Bailiang's father, his younger brother, and Mr. Zhao Baichang's wife, who was six months pregnant.
  • Elderly Ms. Zhou Fengxiu Dies under Long Term Persecution in Hunan Province

    Ms. Zhou Fengxiu, 70, lived in Hunan Province. Her husband died from cancer 15 years ago. She became depressed and very sick and weak. After she started cultivating Falun Gong in 1998, her sicknesses and pain went away. She felt gratitude to Falun Gong for saving her. After the persecution began in 1999, she went to Beijing to appeal for the right to practise Falun Gong, and she was arrested and detained many times. Police officers brutally beat her and often broke into her home and took her Falun Gong books. On the afternoon of October 28th, 2008, five police stormed into her home again and took her Falun Gong books, despite her protests. Deeply hurt by the police actions, Ms. Zhou was sick for several months. Her condition worsened quickly, and she died a little over twenty days later.
  • Ms. Li Dan Died under Persecution Two Years Ago in Liaoning Province

    Ms. Li Dan was a music teacher and received merit many times. She began cultivating in Falun Gong in 1996 because she had a weak and ill body, and her sicknesses soon disappeared. After July 20th, 1999, Ms. Li Dan went to Beijing to appeal and defended Falun Gong according to her personal experiences. She was arrested and brutally beaten multiple times. In 2006, Ms. Li Dan was arrested again. She was tortured to the degree of deformity. She was rescued from detention, but she was already dying. Her fellow practitioners took turns taking care of her in the hospital, but she died soon after returning home because of the severity of the torture.
  • Mr. Song Jianguo from Hebei Province Sent to Inner Mongolia Forced Labour Camp

    Mr. Song Jianguo, a Falun Gong practitioner, was reported to police on September 19th, 2007, when he was working in Beijing. Police arrested him and took him to Tuanhe Forced Labour Camp in Beijing. He was persecuted there for several months. On January 26th, 2008, he and six other practitioners were secretly transferred to Wuyuan Forced Labour Camp in Inner Mongolia. On March 6th, guards brutally tortured Mr. Song Jianguo. They bound him with ropes, forced him to kneel, severely beat him, and shocked every part of him with six electric batons. His whole body was bruised with rope scars. His ribs and feet were black and blue. His abdomen and neck were burned by the electric batons.
  • Crimes Committed at the Xian Worker's Sanatorium

    Chinese Communist Party members force practitioners to watch videos and read books that defame Falun Gong, write statements of "transformation," and conduct continual mental torture. They lock practitioners in small solitary cells, deprive them of sleep, subject them to exposure to high intensity light, threaten them, bombard them with propaganda, physically assault them, and put debilitating psychotropic drugs into their food. One male practitioner in his 20's became unable to walk after being persecuted. The authorities force practitioners to pay for the expenses incurred during persecution. Some practitioners' relatives were extorted of huge amounts of money in exchange for the practitioners' release.
  • Mr. Xie Wutang in Serious Condition in Wuling Prison, Changde City, Hunan Province

    On July 14th, 2007, police barged into the home of 68-year-old Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Xie Wutang and arrested him. From his arrest to his trial to his prison sentence, no legal procedures were followed. Mr. Xie is now being detained in Wuling Prison. Over the past few days Mr. Xie's health has deteriorated. In the Changsha City Detention Centre he was persecuted until he developed tuberculosis. Recently his feet have began to swell, and he has terrible pain in his hips. According to Chinese law, people in this condition cannot be kept in jail, and how much more so for someone nearing 70?
  • Mr. Xue Jingye from Heilongjiang Province and Mr. Xin Chao from Shaanxi Province Persecuted to Death

    After July 20th, 1999, the Chinese Communist Party, under Jiang Zemin's [former leader of China and instigator of the persecution] orders, started the persecution of Falun Gong. Mr. Xue Jingye, 38, was given one year of forced labour in Changlinzi Forced Labour Camp simply because he continued to practise Falun Gong. He suffered a great deal physically and mentally in the camp. Around the time of the Olympic games this year, the local police repeatedly visited his home. The continued harassment caused Mr. Xue a great deal of stress and he passed away on December 6th, 2008.
  • Middle School Teacher Ms. Zhao Yuhuan, Brutally Persecuted During the Past Four Years, Arrested Again

    Teacher Ms. Zhao Yuhuan, who is in her 40s, was arrested in November because she distributed Falun Gong materials. She is currently being held in a detention centre in Beijing, but the exact facility is unknown. Ms. Zhao was previously detained for four years. In May 2002, while detained in Gaoyang Forced Labour Camp, she was subjected to different kinds of torture since she refused to give up Falun Gong. Handcuffed to the rail of an upper bunk bed, she was deprived of sleep for over 50 hours, and subsequently forced to sit on the floor every day with her arms straight at each side and handcuffed to the rail of the lower bunk bed. This lasted for more than three weeks.
  • Disabled Wife Appeals for Her Husband's Rescue

    In 2008, the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) arrested my husband again, allegedly for the sake of the Olympic Games. On July 13th, 2008, police broke into my home. They covered my husband's head with a black plastic bag and forced him into a police car. They searched my home and seized expensive items. They also destroyed my electric fan. My husband has been detained in the Shuangfengsi Detention Centre for more than five months, and we are not allowed to visit him. Recently, we learned that he will be brought to trial at Shuangqiao District Court on December 15th, 2008. I call for the immediate release of my husband.
  • Calling for Immediate Release of Mr. Yu Chao and His Wife Ms. Zhu Tong

    Since the persecution started in July 1999, my sister-in-law Ms. Zhu has been arrested for calling for justice for Falun Gong by unfurling a banner in Tiananmen Square. In August 2002, a few months after she was released, she was arrested again with my brother by six police officers, for speaking out on the Internet against the persecution of Falun Gong. My brother was beaten when he tried to resist being arrested. They were sentenced to nine and eleven years of imprisonment respectively. Their son, Huhu, has been deprived of his parents' care.
  • Ms. Deng Xiaomei from Zhenxiong County, Yunnan Province, Sentenced

    Ms. Deng Xiaomei, a Falun Gong practitioner and a kindergarten teacher was arrested by police at home on November 11th, 2008. She has been sentenced to forced labour for two years. Ms. Deng who is 30 years of age, has been detained twice before. In 2000, she was detained for over three weeks just because she participated in a Falun Gong group exercises. In 2002, she was sentenced to forced labour for two years.
  • Mr. Kang Hong Suffers a Mental Collapse at the Xishanping Forced Labour Camp

    Mr. Kang Hong, 38, is from Chongqing City, Sichuan Province and has spent seven of the past nine years since the persecution of Falun Gong started in prison, due to his belief in Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance. Mr. Kang suffered a mental collapse in November 2008 while being brutally tortured at the Xishanping Forced Labour Camp. Because of the guards' torture Mr. Kang, he is now in critical condition. On November 30th, a fellow practitioner passed by Mr. Kang's cell and noticed that he looked extremely weak. In addition, Mr. Kang's face and lips were red and swollen and his body was covered in bruises.
  • Ms. Wu Chuanying from Linli County, Hunan Province Sentenced to Eight Years in Jail

    Falun Gong practitioner, Ms. Wu Chuanying has been arrested and detained six times for practising Falun Gong. From November 2004 to November 2005, Ms. Wu Chuanying was arrested four times. She was brainwashed and sentenced to three years in jail for not giving up her belief. She went on a hunger strike to protest. In April 2006, she was subjected to forced intravenous drug injection in a hospital, though she managed to walk out free. In 2008, the police detained her in the Changsha Women's Prison again.
  • Wreaths and Banners Condemn Jinzhou Prison for Killing Falun Gong Practitioner Mr. Zhang Litian

    Mr. Zhang Litian was a 36-year-old Falun Gong practitioner in Chaoyang City, Liaoning Province. After Mr. Zhang was detained in Jinzhou Prison for over a month, Cheng Jun, the head of Division 20, and Zhang Baozhi, the assistant head of Division 20, instigated four inmates to beat Zhang Litian to death on November 17th, 2008. Recently, some goodhearted people hung wreaths and banners near Jinzhou Prison to commemorate Mr. Zhang and publicize the fact that he was tortured to death. We hope conscience and justice will prevail, and the persecution will end.
  • Seven Practitioners Held in the Shenyang City Detention Centre

    The top officials of the detention centreboften instigated the criminal inmates to torture practitioners. The torture methods included beatings, forced-feedings of concentrated salt water, forcing practitioners to sit on the tiger bench, injecting them with drugs, and extorting money from them.
